We have been here on and off for over 40 years through many changes in ownership and guises. It is a lovely building and it was good to see that the current management had a fire going in the magnificent bar fireplace. We came for lunch and had fantastic food which was exceptional value particularly compared with other establishments in the area. My bacon, lettuce and tomato ciabatta was lovely and a full meal with chips and the best side salad I have had with a pub meal for a long, long time. My husbands lambs liver was also delicious. We look forward to returning.

Came nearby for a hike and was searching around for a local pub to find this gem. Food was incredible, ordered the pork belly and every aspect of the dish was cooked perfectly well. Really incredible flavours, this was done perfectly. Stayed for dessert and ordered sticky toffee pudding which also was done well. Highly recommended.

Without a doubt the most incredible Sri Lankan restaurant I have ever been to. It’s so unique. You won’t find anywhere else like this place in the UK for Sri Lankan cuisine. Beautiful food, generous portions, excellent service - we will definitely be back. Even living an hours drive away, we will drive back again soon just to eat here. To add to this, they also have a cafe in the building next door which we attended the following morning. Equally, an amazing setup. Great menu, dogs welcome and very tranquil. The perfect start to our morning! Until next time - 10/10!!

Whilst we can not fault the warmth and friendliness of the staff, the food was very disappointing. We went here after reading the reviews for a special birthday celebration. The starter of scallops was mainly green salad with 3 very small hard to find scallops. The roast beef came with 3 hard to eat roast potatoes, green beans and broccoli with stems and ends still attached, the smallest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen and a very wet cauliflower cheese. For the price of £45 per head for the roast and £17 for the scallop starter, this is not what I expect and we will not be returning or recommending friends and family. So disappointed 😡.

So lunch for 4, 2 courses and a sorbet 2 not so large glasses of wine and a couple of pints. £250! So it must have been amazing, actually not really very mediocre, starters were very small and mains took very little skill. Told off for delaying the chef from his break!! It’s a shame as this used to be a great fun pub but with ridiculous prices like this and questionable service atitude no wonder there were only 2 other people having lunch.
