Drink fast - don’t linger… Friendly bar staff Unfriendly Landlord A long list of school signs with instructions on do’s/do not’s - even in the toilets how to urinate. Promotes an expensive dog menu, but your dog can’t go to the loo on the grass in the garden. (as if you can control that always!) - plus there are no bins! Signs all over the place keep dogs in a lead at all times, but there was another dog running around the front of the pub on our arrival ???……We were going to eat, but the table next to us was making comments about the food - so changed our minds. Drink pay Leave is the best policy we won’t be back…

Stopped on our way through. We got a nice welcome from the bar staff. Food took 45 minutes to appear which was a disappointing as we were very hungry. Even so it was good. My husband bought me a cranberry juice which came with the bottle. I noticed the juice was 7 months past its best before date. We pointed this out to the Landlord. No word of apology from him, all he said was that these juices have years in them. Clearly not the case as the juice was a very dull red and tasted acidic. I would like to point out however the bar tender did apologise, but no offer of a replacement or refund as one would expect.

I often meet a friend for a drink here as it's nice and local. We also quite often eat here, excellent veggie food. Places to chain the bikes to are really helpful. Fabulous garden. The live music is great too. Brought our dog one time and she wouldn't leave! Really embarrassing, they're very dog friendly. Definitely recommend as very friendly, drinks are good and the food is delicious. They recently won an award and I can see why.

Been here many times over the years. It’s a real little gem of a pub. Thankfully unlike very many other pubs in this area it hasn’t been converted into one of those ghastly gastro pubs. The plus side of that is the prices are still reasonable and there is no pushness to persuade you to eat, There are even boxes of pub games available if you just want to sit have a chat and fancy playing domino’s. But if you do want to eat they have a good selection of decent food. This is a very small pub serving a good range of drinks and beers ( Yay to Betty Stoggs!) with a lovely big garden. The food is good and well cooked and for the size of the kitchens it’s amazing they can turn out the variety that they do. The staff are always friendly and helpful and as a big plus for us they love dogs. Our dog loves it here as he always gets a lovely greeting from the staff. ( and often a bonio 😀) We have been to a number of their free live music nights in the gardens in past summers which are alway great fun especially with friends. We will certainly be going again this summer. So basically a very good honest little pub well worth a visit.

Went there with a friend recently and we enjoyed one of their pizzas for lunch with a good pint of Long Man bitter and a soft drink. The Moles has a well balanced atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff. Indeed 99% of its visitors are also friendly and good humoured too. They also welcome well behaved dogs both in their pub and in their terraced garden to the side of the pub where they run their full range of free summer outdoor entertainment events - do check their website for a full list of this summers events. They have such a wide range there must be something for everyone's liking. The terraced garden is immaculately kept and we like to eat and drink there now the warmer weather is at last here. They offer a wide range of food from snacks to full Sunday Lunches, plus vegetarian offerings, but do check their website and facebook for the current choices as they seasonally adjust their menu - like no Sunday lunches in June, July, August. Drawbacks ? Well yes the potholes in the road from the A272 to Selham. Take care !

Been here a few times now for food and drinks and recently organised a surprise party for a friend. The landlords went the extra mile to ensure everything was perfect and even helped on my friends arrival to keep the surprise to the last possible moment. Couldn’t have asked for better service. I had the burger and it was delicious, my friends had a selection of other things including the pizzas which they all said were amazing. Highly recommend going here - the garden is a must during the summer, never seen such a beautiful pub garden! What I love most about this place is that they don’t pretend to be a restaurant, they are a proper pub doing pub food - too many places trying to be fancy these days - they even do the old fashioned basket meals!

We really love this pub out in the sticks, it’s our fave drive to pub when we don’t want to stay local & fancy a change! The food is very well cooked (to perfection) well done Chef They don’t skimp good sized portions & a great variety of vegetables, which many pubs fail to do! The price is incredibly good value especially in the current economy where food is so ridiculously overpriced! It is so worth the extra fuel journey out! Staff are always so incredibly friendly & hospitable we’ve been about 4/5 times now! We were very lucky to get a table today as we didn’t call them until 1pm & they had a spare table in their snug room downstairs for 1:30 we hadn’t sat in this room before but found it lovely & cozy with the additional bonus of a log burner Perfect afternoon to finish off our lovely week away! We will most definitely be back keep up the good work guys! Janet & Andy

We were looking for a good pub and many in this area of West Sussex have great menus but limited gf options. The Three Moles' menu by comparison had "gf available" by several of its dishes. When we got there it was a lovely welcoming place with friendly staff. Mrs S had a delicious pizza and tasty salt and pepper squid. My lamb kebab was great and the whitebait too. All piping hit and generous portions. So much so we had to ask for a box to take some of the pizza home. All very reasonably priced.

We were met with a lovely greeting from the Landlord and a warm welcome for our dog Mac. We had a lovely chat with the landlord and then went to order our food. My husband is a vegan and there were vegan options on the menu. They could also accommodate some of the homemade pizza's to a vegan option. The food was very tasty and there was plenty of it. They had Youngs bitter on offer and the different flavours of Thatchers went down well. The Three Moles though a small pub have covered all options. A lovely tiered beer garden with an external bar - an outside area with log burners and warm blankets to sit out side and a pizza area down stairs. We were lucky enough to visit the pub whilst the visiting Sea Shanties were singing in the garden in aid of the RNLI - but our dog started joining in the singing so we moved to the front garden. This is a lovely pub and well worth a visit whether it was for just a drink or a lovely meal. We will definitely be back.

We were looking for a country pub that did food after visiting near by Petworth park. It was a Tuesday and most local pubs were either closed or not doing food. The three moles came up in our search and seemed to fit the bill with a good beer garden and food from 5:30. It is certainly out in the country down a lovely winding lane with a good size car park opposite the pub. We were greeted with a vast selection of gins and real ales perfect start. The menu was also good offering a good selection of pub grub, light bites and pizzas. We opted for a selection of light bites salt and pepper squid, nachos with cheese and salsa and crispy chicken wrap which was more than enough for the two of us. Good size portions great taste and piping hot. The beer garden did not disappoint either well laid out 2 tiers of benches and umbrellas the upper level under a canopy of trees and the lower level a real sun trap sheltered from the wind. Friendly staff and locals would love to visit again. The story of why the pub is there and why it is called the 3 moles is also an interesting one. Highly recommend.

The 3 moles was 7 minutes walk from our campsite over the the weekend so we availed ourselves of their fine establishment on Saturday (18th sept 2012) I’m not sure where to start - the beer was week kept and cold, the tables were well spaced, the gardens brilliant kept and when was the last time you went to a pub that had a pool table that you didn’t have to pay to use? Admittedly it was a bit wonky but that just meant the 4 of us didn’t take it too seriously. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat but plenty of other punters were eating and it looked& smelt glorious.. we had a couple of pints then took off to the local butchers to get bbq supplies for the evening then having parked the car walked back for another session despite having cool boxes full of beer, it was that good. Can’t recommend highly enough, great beer, great staff and all round great place..

This a beautiful small pub in a most scenic area of rural West Sussex with lovely garden, the location could not be more perfect. Our experience did not begin well when one of our party parked their vehicle with it's wheels about 2 inches on the grass verge opposite the pub (the car park was full). The landlord was there in a flash berating the driver in an unnecessarily rude and aggressive way. We are not sure how the landlord got there so quickly as he didn't move an inch for the rest of our stay! Our party was seated in the garden on 3 very small beer tables, obviously not suitable for 18 well developed gentlemen. When we asked if we could move the tables together so we could sit as a group we were given a very firm 'no'. When we persisted we were offered an additional table inside a small marquee that houses the outside bar. So now sitting in 4 separate groups. We had ordered our food a week earlier from the uninspiring menu of burgers and pizzas but despite this the food still came out in dribs and drabs. My Venison burger was over cooked, the chips were cold and I had the most miserable looking handful of wilted salad leaves on the side of the plate. I wasn't given a knife and fork so I ate it with my hands but couldn't wipe them as I wasn't given a napkin either. As it happens most of our party were hung over from the night before and were just pleased to get some food inside them, we weren't on a gourmet tour.Being a beer drinker I was looking forward to some great West Sussex ale, but none of it! There was a selection of ales which were ok, but none of them particularly inspiring. The cider drinkers in our party seemed to enjoy the cider though! On a more positive note the young staff were friendly and helpful, the girl serving at the outside bar was bright and positive and kept the beer coming. None of our experience was their fault. Rather down to tired, uninspiring, dogmatic management. We spent £600 on a Saturday lunchtime and as we were camping a short 5 minute walk away we probably would have gone back in the evening and spent a bit more if our experience had been more welcoming.I wouldn't discourage people from visiting this pub, it is in a beautiful location, but keep your expectations realistic and you will probably enjoy it. As for the grumpy landlord, you'll just have to put up with him xx

Despite first appearances being very encouraging, we had an incredibly frustrating experience having a meal here. Our server - nice young chap with a ponytail - was very helpful, but the system seemed majorly flawed, in that, there didn't seem to be one. Both food and drinks took a very long time to arrive, and food we, and other people, had ordered was coming out with the wrong sides/no cutlery/someone else's order. Very frustrating as the team members themselves seemed well meaning, but the disorganisation ruined what should have been a lovely afternoon for us. Our mains took almost an hour from order to arriving, our pudding just shy of forty five minutes, and when we came to pay our bill, another tables food had been included. It was just chaos.Looking at the positives, as I said, the staff were kind and friendly, and the location was lovely, so not a total "avoid at all costs" review, but we won't be back.

Lovely pretty pub in the countryside & I suppose at £19.95 we shouldn't moan but we went with high expectations after reading the mainly positive reviews however unfortunately certain aspects of our 3 course meal were am afraid to say mediocre :( I had prawn cocktail to start & although it looked good but it came without any bread on the side but that wasn't my main concern about it the prawns were like little bits of rubber !& the sauce watery! Perhaps the prawns has been in the sauce to long?My wife enjoyed her pate very much. Two main courses of roast beef were very nice with a generous helping of meat & veg, only nag would be the roast potatoes could've been more crispier.Perhaps it was our high expectation with the thought of black cherry crumble being home made butAm afraid that it seemed to be made canned cherry pie filling with a sprinkling of crumble mix.We hope this is taken as constructive criticism as the staff we great .

Yes it has a limited menu which is fairly basic but this place does not have any pretentions to be anything other than an old fashioned pub that serves drink and offers a limited typical old style pub menu. It does it well and keeps good ales and unusual wines all at very reasonable prices. Food all locally sourced and it shows in the taste ie it is not Brake Bros.

.we arrived at 8:50 after pitching our tent in the dark only to be told the kitchen closed at 8:00.The barman said the chef is still here I'll ask if he will open the kitchen back up within two minutes we were given the great news that he would and offered anything on the menu not just a bowl of chips which we would have been grateful with. Absolutely brilliant pub and food was delicious.and very accommodating staff.Highly recomended

We visited here last week with my Brother who had called in and seen the Pie and Pint for £10 offer. The young landlord at the bar was very chatty and friendly, there was a great choice of pie fillings, we all chose chicken, ham and leek. We were not disappointed, if I had one small complaint I would ask for less chips and some fresh veg instead. The pub is very small and cosy but we were able to sit in the glorious garden as it was a nice evening, they give you a snazzy bleeper which goes off when your food is ready and you collect it at the kitchen window! All in all I would thoroughly recommend this pub and when in the area will certainly visit again.

This is a really friendly local pub. It wouldn't claim to be competing in the mre expensive gastro pub market but you will get a warm welcome, a great atmosphere and good beer. I would strongly recommend it.

Simply a great pub with a decent choice of beer. No piped music, amusement machines or television. Just very friendly bar staff and regulars. Made to feel very welcome . Fairly basic menu but well cooked with good ingredients. Hopefully will be back before too long for their Sunday roast lunch.

Wow. What an unexpected treat! Amazing Sunday roast. I had the vegetarian option and my wife had roast pork. Both were spectacular. The meat was lovely and the veg was inspired. I’ve eaten Sunday roasts at pubs all round the area but this beats them all, hands down.

Without a doubt the best pub in the area for Sunday Roasts. All the trimmings at a very decent price and friendly landlords to have a good ol chinwag with. I don’t usually write reviews of pubs I visit, but the Roasts here are defiantly worthy of one. Try it for yourself...yummmmmmmmyyyyyyy

What a joy to find a real pub that serves real ale and has not handed over its tables to the gastro pub brigade. For many years this hidden gem served only crisps nuts and the odd speciality. However, the last visit offered a small but very adaquate lunchtime selection menu and was served as advertised and well flavoured.

Full marks for idea and effort. Caribbean evening in the garden. Steel band was fine if a bit staid. Caribbean food was fine for cod balls and spicy rice, but the goat curry was not the best I have tasted- too greasy. ( and I have tried a lot having lived in the Caribbean)

We popped in for a quick drink and a bite to eat at lunch time. Not very busy in fact just three other people who had just ordered food in front of us. We only ordered a filled roll each, but they took half an hour to make! You are given a pager if you sit in the garden, when it beeps you have to go down and collect your food yourself. When you have finished, there are signs everywhere asking you to take all your plates, glasses, cutlery and rubbish back down to the bar on your way out! Not my idea of service, particularly not at £5 a roll!

Tremendous Sunday lunch in March (they get a chef in on Sundays), always interesting to see what new real ales are on, a credit to the work (and cash) new managers Tom and Ollie have put in. Looking forward to the beer festival on June 29th-July 1st 2018.

The Three Moles has over the last year undergone an amazing transformation. It is once again a thriving traditional real ale house loved by locals and visitors to the area alike. It now has the added benefit of serving traditional pub food. The food is great and amazing value for money. We all struggled to clear our plates! The new garden is amazing and such a sun trap.

Met up with a group of friends for Saturday lunch, having parked in the car park across the road. Good food all round, but the hand-made pie was outstanding - a cube of good quality pastry full, and I mean FULL, of meat and veg. This, backed with very tasty mash, made for a very good value meal for £12.

This place was recommended for the ales from the camping place and at first-hand looks like a good old fashioned pub with pub grub but with kids menus costing over 11 quid and getting rubbish quality chicken nuggets and chips for that, plus the other meals were average, I wont be going back here again for food. So be warned it is not that pub grub you might expect considering this is down as a restaurant. They need a better chef i think as other pub restaurants (i have tried a few) make this seem like a happy chef. But a nice garden and some guest ales its not bad for a few drinks.
