Has a cool traditional vibe with a special mix of customers and staff that works really well. A friendly and happy place with great real ale. There's no food and no piped muzak, but you can eat a takeaway, and the conversation is great.

Lovely fish and chips perfect and delicious. Served by a lovely lady. Great portion size and reasonably priced. Chips were cooked light and fluffy and the perfect colour. The batter on the fish was excellent and the fish was superb.

A surprisingly welcoming impromptu meal here after a wintery woodland walk in The Denge. A lovely welcome from Maggie, behind the bar, and a totally fabulous venison burger, enjoyed in a friendly yet peaceful atmosphere by the warm log fire. Curious artefacts all around and a variety of cosy, interesting places to sit. All comfortable and enjoyable. They do a quiz night every second Sunday of the month, which although we don’t live in the nearby area, sounded like great fun and so we’ll definitely make a pilgrimage to. I really liked the place. Thank you Maggie and whoever was making the food. So good!

Absolutely amazing meal at The Set last night. Gorgeous 14 course tasting menu that made for an incredible night, atmosphere was perfect and the staff really attentive. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a special evening. Thank you we will definitely be back. Xx

Good sized Sunday Roasts, well cooked and presented. Service staff were pleasant and accommodating .Rest of the menu a little uninspiring. The battered fish was a little greasy rather than crispy and a bit bland. Overall OK and would go back for the roasts.

Fantastic spot to stay for a last minute trip on my birthday eve! Location is superb, lovely cocktail bar nearby, plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and phenomenal views of the coast. The bed was incredibly comfy, and the room cosy and tastefully decorated. The shower was a delight particularly after a chilly stroll along the pier. The real highlight however was enjoying a toasty bubble bath while watching the sunrise along the coast through the large bay window to start the day. What a fabulous place to stay, we are already looking forward to our next Brighton break.. thank you!!

Not good value expensive with everything costing extra , service a bit rushed, just felt get in eat pay and leave Shame as nice atmosphere

The food was really lovely from here. sadly, the customer service and 2.5 hour delivery time was not. After initially being given a 40 minute delivery time, it gradually kept moving on until it finally arrived 2.5 hours later. we won't be using again.

Lovely evening with friends celebrating husbands birthday. All food was delicious.

I called in here with my grandsons recently. It was at their recommendation, they are 8 and 10 yrs old. 😃 It was like going back in time to a period decades ago. The decoration was as I would have expected in my youth, bright, sharp, practical, and spotlessly clean. There is plenty of room to sit comfortably at the tables, not cramped like many places. They even give you chairs that can move and adjust for your comfort, not fixed and rigidly tied to the table. Just like the old days. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a good rapport from the owners. You just can't beat happy smiling faces from behind the counter to make you feel wanted and valued as a customer. Would I recommend, most definitely, I'm going back to try their fish, which looked delicious. 😋 PS. We had better portions and more to eat than at KFC in Silverhill on our last dine out. Plus, it was cheaper.
