Spent a wonderful evening in this friendly, traditional pub. Excellent range of real ales, German lagers etc. We were entertained by a brilliant blues guitarist with a great voice. Best evening I've had in a long time.
The restaurant itself is good, and the food is of good quality. However, one aspect that I did not appreciate was the apparent preference given to customers known to the staff. My wife and I visited for the first time, and despite arriving before several other guests and ordering the same dishes, those guests were served before us. It became evident that they were acquaintances of the chef or owner, as I observed them exchanging greetings and embraces at the end of the meal.
This practice leaves a negative impression and, in my opinion, is detrimental to the business. I had considered recommending this restaurant to my friends, but given this experience, I cannot do so.
Lovely welcome today and friendly staff here .
Food was delicious too would thoroughly recommend a visit be it for brunch, coffee date , lunch or a glass of wine of something

Loves our stay at Drakes. The room was beautiful as was the bathroom and general attention to detail. The crossover of new and modern decor really worked. Yes there is no lift but the building is old and yes there are signs of wear and tear but again the building is old and I am pretty sure maintenance is non-stop. The staff were on the right side of friendly yet professional and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Food was delicious (breakfast only). Car parking was easy and again the staff were very helpful. As for location...the view from our room said it all...beach as far as the eye could see! We'll be back!
Good sized Sunday Roasts, well cooked and presented. Service staff were pleasant and accommodating .Rest of the menu a little uninspiring. The battered fish was a little greasy rather than crispy and a bit bland. Overall OK and would go back for the roasts.
We had a great experience at this fish and chips restaurant! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better.
The portions were generous, and the food was fresh and tasty – definitely good value for money. They also have a nice kids’ menu with options that are perfect for little ones.
It’s a great spot for families, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Probably the best watering hole left in the town. Always an interesting selection of beverages. There's generally a sour on... which is a favourite tipple of mine. Plenty of IPA, DIPA, NEPA and stout too. Live music every week.
