If you would like an authentic step back in time type atmosphere, then this is the place for you. It is, however, quite "cozy" possibly even slightly claustrophobic for some. However, if you love your coffees and teas, you are in for a treat, with a very extensive choice. Additionally, good honest food and homemade desserts. Let's keep these truly independent businessess alive by showing our support. The alternative will be our loss.

Found this spot on a quick Google of the local area and I'm so glad I did, we went today, the cafe itself is beautiful, a sweet traditional style cafe with an incredible selection of beautiful teas and coffee, the staff were so friendly and lovely, with so many locals popping in. A beautiful cafe and such a friendly atmosphere for a quick lunch. We were unfortunately in a rush then we went today otherwise I would have happily spent all day there. The staff even became aware we were in a rush and split the bill and served us as quickly as possible to accommodate us. The food was beautiful, the staff so lovely and friendly, the cafe itself was such a welcoming atmosphere too. I wish I lived closer because it really would be somewhere I'd love to become a regular. If anyone from the cafe is reading this- thank you so much for a lovely lunch, really wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back!

For those who despair that standards of courtesy and friendliness may be slipping, Café Aroma is about as perfect as a small cafe-restaurant can be. The 87-year old proprietor, Robert, is as decent and polite a fellow as you will find. He and his equally attentive partner serve up a small but comprehensive range of tasty home-cooked English meals and snacks, as well as puddings and a large selection of loose-leaf teas in China pots and well-selected coffee in cafetières. The full English breakfast is large and excellent, served with enough toast to sink a battleship. The smaller snacks, like scrambled eggs on toast, quirkily come with a side-salad and nicely tangy mayonnaise-coleslaw. The ambiance and decor is like something out of an Agatha Christie vicarage. If you have the faintest appreciation for traditional catering values, or just a leaning towards nostalgia and a slower pace of life, Cafe Aroma is a must. Very highly recommended, and superb value for money.

My husband and I went in for a coffee and cake as it was tipping down outside. My husband had never been there although it’s been running for about 15 years, the owners told us. It’s a cottage type of building with a lot of vintage type of crockery, lamps, tins of coffee all on one wall. We had two capuchinos and a different cake each and the bill came to nearly £12. I think you are paying for the atmosphere too. Have a look at photos.

Cafe Aroma is located on Ocklynge Road which is not on the main road to Town so I wouldn't have found out if I wasn't near Motcombe swimming pool. From a glance of the front of the cafe, you never would have guessed it was tea house as the windows were in a frosted like state so it was hard to see how it looked inside which made it cozy inside. When I got closer, the menu on the board had Fish cakes, pie etc so went back during the weekend. The cafe was almost full when I went but there were two more tables at the far back near the cake cabinet. You are greeted with lots of tea pots and plates. As a tea lover, there were about 10 teas so it was hard deciding, some blends were obviously what they were except Miss Norris and Russian. Being adventurous and spoilt for choice I had Miss Norris. The teas came served in beautiful tea pots with a strainer. My tea had a floral note of rose which smelled like Damascus Rose Tea but the taste was quite pleasant. After asking the owner about the tea, found out there was Rose, Violets and Jasmine in the blend. For food, had a pudding since I had already had lunch. All the puddings and cakes were home made by Bryan. I tried the apple and peach sponge with custard which was appetizing because of the tart apples while the sponge was complemented by the custard. Overall, a lovely place for tea on an off beaten path.

Me quedé asombrado.

My friend and I came across this lovely little cafe by accident a few weeks ago and went in for a coffee and cake. Lovely scones (we took some home) and home made cakes and the best coffee I have tasted in a long time. We returned for a delicious Xmas lunch a few days ago and were so impressed that we're going back again today for another. The turkey was melt-in-the-mouth pieces of REAL turkey, none of this pre-sliced stuff that is served in many places now. Mincemeat, peach and brandy crumble was the unusual and very tasty Xmas pudding. Everything in here is homemade, a real treat in these days of mass production! A huge selection of coffees and teas to choose from, served in a large cafetière or teapot, no teabags in sight thank goodness. The prices are very reasonable. Robert and Brian are welcoming and friendly without being pushy. Lovely old-fashioned place, it's like stepping back in time, such a refreshing change from the usual noisy, rushed cafes that are so popular these days. We will be regulars! The place is very small so a good idea to book for lunch.

I have recently visited a great cat cafe which was everything the Eastbourne venue is not. The main issue and the most important reason I will never go back is that they breed the cats. When I asked how the cats came about I was fully expecting a heart warming refuge story. Nope, at the time I visited (a birthday treat during covid) I was told that their original mama cat had had 17 kittens. Cats are a great money maker apparently. In my latest visit to a good cat cafe, the cats came from a refuge and are in the cafe until adopted. The food and drinks in the guide cat cafe were tasty and affordable. In Eastbourne we did not finish our food (the worst cheese toasties ever) and the hot chocolate was tepid. Never again.
