What a shame. A trip here for an ice cream has always been such a treat and a benchmark for ice creams wherever we are in the World. . However, today’s visit has completely put us off. One particular member of staff was grumpy and curt with us, but beyond rude to the gentleman behind us, snapping at him and gesticulating rudely at him- all because he misunderstood the cone size . She really needs a lesson in customer service - and overall manners. The ice creams were as tasty as ever, but the price has rocketed recently. I am aware that the cost of ingredients has risen, but the approximately 25% price increase is too much. I doubt we will return. Such a shame

What an awful waste of money. £10.50 tasteless and very overpriced ice cream and cones. Not something to have or experience again. My ice cream I have at home is better, & if you ever get to experience new forest ice cream it’s out of this world…& cheaper!

Visited recently (April Bank Holiday Weekend). As a family of 6 we decided to sit indoors and enjoy our treat. Firstly we chose our desserts from the menu. Asking to substitute the flavour of ice-cream for another on 2 of the desserts. Cost over £40 for 6 ice-cream desserts in small glass dishes. When they arrived the adult ones was missing the fresh whipped cream. (Which turned out to be squirty cream from a can) And they were all missing the chocolate tubes which were shown in the pictures in the menu. And substituted for plain biscuits. Staff were rude and we will definitely not be visiting again.

This is terrible now it has changed hands. The staff made me feel like a burden to them as I wanted to purchasea toastie and ice cream for myself and my granddaughter and sit in to eat it. It was 4.45pm I was told they close at 5.30pm and we couldn't order a toasted sandwich as the kitchen was closed. And if we wanted food we needed to be in there earlier as the kitchen closes one hour before the shop closes. The staff were young and inexperienced, had no customer service skills and just wanted to get home. I have had many enjoyable experiences at this shop when under the other management and sometimes after a nice evening walk on the beach at 7pm onwards. Will not be going back and advise everyone to avoid this place.

Lovely ice cream for a great as a bit pricey

Very disappointing, to buy several ice creams then to be told that we are unable to sit inside due to having cones and that we have to pay extra for a glass and side to be able to sit down considering the seating area was empty. Not great customer service at all and will stop us from returning.

Although my granddaughter enjoyed her ice cream (she's only 5 so probably not an expert), I can't remember when I was spoken to so rudely by a member of staff. She was probably the manager as she was older than all the teenagers serving. Suffice to say, we didn't stay for lunch.

Icecream was lovely but staff were RUDE, UNFRIENDLY and we were treated really badly. I am a 42 year old woman but was treated like a child and told CANNOT EAT ICECREAM WITH A CONE INSIDE!! Quite the worst ice cream I have tasted. I threw it in the bin. I haveneen visiting the parlour for years under different management and loved their ice cream. Compared with that this is terrible on top of that I asked for a cone with chocolate sprinkles my usual favourite but was told it would be too messy. I ended up being given a minute tub with nasty kiddie pink and white sprinkles. Absolutely disgusting. NEVER AGAIN. I have never tasted worse in my 75 years. I will look for a better place to get my ice cream.

I love all the flavors of ice cream. I love the sundae, the banana one, the Asian one with crepe, the flour one. All the flavors are delicious. I love it so much and have to stop by every time I pass by. I love that they have outside seating for dogs and they have dog-friendly ice cream. It's awesome

Famous for its delicious waffle with ice cream (£8). Many flavors and good treatment. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth (like me).

If you fancy getting a true gelato and dive into flavour, this is your place. The queues vary but believe me, it worth waiting. If you have a little more time and you're lucky, come inside and get a table. Queue for gelato is separate. The place offers not only gelato, gelato desserts but also some lunch/savoury light meals and delicious cakes. Coffee here is great. The staff is OK, not overly welcoming but it's a busy place and they work hard to deliver good service. The place is in the great location, just off the sea promenade and close to the pier. There are some tables outside too.

Lovely ice cream gelato worth a visit if in the area. Visited late in the evening so outside chairs not available but had a takeaway and a walk along the beach ideal.

This popular ice cream parlour doesn't have a huge space in front of the counter so on sunny days the queue can extend to the outside as it's popular. It was well staffed on my visit and so the queue was not extensive. It has a section for eating in but there are also tables outside. I think there were about a dozen varieties of gelato and my friend and I both enjoyed our chosen variety.

If you want to treat yourself to a 'proper' ice-cream, this is the place to come! I advise eating inside and ordering one of their phenomenal Sundays. They come looking just like the picture and taste divine!

I’ve come here a numerous amount of times and never been disappointed. However , today i was very disappointed as we ordered 3 sundaes and my sister in law wanted a cone . We were told that she wasn’t allowed to eat her cone at the table ! I was flabbergasted to say the least . This has made me not want to visit this place again !!

Delightful ice cream in a number of flavours, probably more later in the season as there were a few empty slots, service was extremely quick and nicely presented, with a smile. Just round the corner the parlour has several tablkes and chairs for customers and it was lovely to sit in the sunshine wjile enjoying our ice creams

Love waiting in line just to be the next person to order then being told they are closed. As we walked away, we noticed that the people who were behind us in the queue were told they could order.

After walking past and seeing the massive line of people we made the decision to join in and wait. This place has a great selection of ice cream and combinations. I personally would recommend the mint/ after eight and the chocolate and peanut. Great place I’ll definitely be back !!!

I had a strawberry ice cream and it was lovely. Update - I've been coming for a long time over 7 years and this is one of the best ice cream shops in Eastbourne probably one of the best in the south east. It does get very busy at times but that's because the ice-cream is so good.

The ice cream is delicious with a wide range of flavours. We used the take away facility and had to queue for a while so service score suffered a little, also probably due to how busy it was the staff were more concerned with rushing customers through rather than the customers overall experience. Can't comment on atmosphere as used take away entrance

Our second visit, the gelato is really superb. We had mango sorbet, chocolate & peanut, chocolate and vanilla across the four of us, and all of the flavours were delicious. We have had plenty of gelato in Italy and this compares very well. The only slight downer was that the girl serving us looked thoroughly miserable and put a bit of a downer on our experience as a result, we felt like we were an inconvenience. Another member of staff did step in to help and that eased things slightly.

Having been a loyal customer of Gelato Famoso in Eastbourne for nearly a decade, my family and I have cherished our visits to this ice cream parlour, making it a beloved tradition. Unfortunately, our latest visit was shockingly disappointing due to the service we received. For years, Gelato Famoso has been a spot where we’ve enjoyed delightful ice cream and friendly service. However, this time, we encountered a rude, arrogant, and insulting staff member—a young teenager with ginger hair—who tarnished our experience. Her lack of care, sarcastic demeanor, and passive-aggressive attitude were distressing, especially as her comments upset my young children. More concerning was her disregard for our requests for allergy information, a critical aspect given my son and husband’s severe food allergies. This lack of sensitivity and assistance is not only disappointing but also alarming, posing a serious health risk. Another concern was that she repeatedly touched her mouth, face and hair and rolled her eyes when we pointed this out, just wanting the most basic of food hygiene for my family. After such a long-standing relationship with Gelato Famoso, it’s disheartening to say that we won’t be returning if this is the standard of service now deemed acceptable. It’s a sad end to what was once a cherished family tradition. I’ll be advising friends and family to steer clear of Gelato Famoso until they address these serious issues in customer service and safety.

I visited here yesterday with my young daughters to have sundaes. After having told that we need to order before sitting down, we stopped at the counter to look at the displayed menu. While my daughters were reading the list of the sundaes, one of the women working behind the counter was gesturing that they need to move on. I said to her that they are choosing their order. Then she complained that their hair might fall into the toppings behind the counter. Now, neither of them were leaning over and their hair was not anywhere near the toppings, and the menu was supposedly displayed there to be consulted. Was it my daughters' curly hair that bothered this unpleasant woman?? I can't think of any other reason--they were quietly reading and their hair was tied back. One person made our experience very unpleasant. Needless to say, I did not trust her enough after this to eat the sundaes she would have made for us. There are other ice cream places in Eastbourne; we will certainly not return to this one.

Great and wide selection of ice creams, although the salted caramel I had last time was very bland. They also do general meals as well. Nice clean toilets. We love the ban on dogs, like many we dislike dogs in restaurants and cafes. Partly because of this we've become semi regulars here.

Ordered just one item, and amazingly they managed to get it wrong, I let them know when it was served up, and it all became my fault. Shockingly Bad service, we'll certainly not be back and likely try elsewhere.

Have passed this place so many times over a 15 year period, but as we've always had b and b we're usually too full up from breakfast, and by time we get back from day out its closed!!...but we made it this time without grandson...its bigger inside than I thought and cosy warm nice atmosphere and waffles are huge!! I visited today ( Boxing Day)with my husband, he wanted a hot drink and cake, which he purchased and sat inside, I only wanted an ice cream cone which I purchased at the take away counter and then went and sat inside with him. After about 5 minutes we were told by a member of staff that I could not sit with him as cones were take away only ! Whilst I fully understand that if we had both purchased cones it would not have been appropriate for us to take up a table, my husband was eating and drinking at a small table and I had to leave him sitting there alone, while I went outside to eat my cone !! A distinct lack of common sense, and Christmas spirit.

We went as it was 5 minutes walk from our hotel to try their Sundaes. My partner had the Strawberry Fayre and I had the Banoffee. Both were excellent and ice cream was fab. Would certainly recommend it for the ice cream. Both were £7.95 each. Service was quick and staff very friendly.

I feel after changing the name the quality of ice cream has become better. I loved my favourite mix of salted caramel and chocolate on a waffle cone. I do enjoy having ice cream on a nice summer day. Nice location and friendly staff.
