Great little hotel to stay at while exploring the new forest. Warm welcome on arrival from Charlotte. We stayed in the Pullman room which was a very good size room with comfortable bed, large tv, a sofa and en-suite bathroom. Railway themed throughout including breakfast in the dining car.
Jarvis Brew is a hidden gem. The coffee is fantastic and there are always a wide selection of pastries, cakes (inc. gluten free for a pal of mine) and even bacon rolls, freshly made, for my always eating sons! I am going to make this a regular stop for my morning routine.
Nice cafe but probably a bad idea to have it closed on a Sunday, most people who work during the week are out on a Sunday looking for a coffee to socialise, but this is England we are talking about there is no socialising here
Second visit in the month for dinner in the garden. The food is a bit different with both small and large plates. Very well cooked, presented and served and fresh, light and very nicely presented by extremely friendly staff.
We were pleasantly satisfied (in terms of amount) having had a shared starter (crispy pork skins and black garlic mayo), one small plate - salmon and sauce vierge, one large plate - potato dumplings with delicious vegetables and lemon mayo, and two desserts - Bakewell tart with cherry sauce - yum, and cheesecake with apple “crumble” and sorbet
EXCELLENT
Fantastic food, got a BLT and a Cajun wrap to takeaway. They did Not skimp on the bacon, it was freshly cooked and very high quality. The Cajun chiken was well flavoured and had the most amazing grilled peppers! Overall great experience
We booked, paid in full in advance to the 24 Jan pop up in the Blue Jasmine restaurant in Southampton Ocean Village; what a disaster and disappointment it was. Ending our dry January early to celebrate our engagement we paid £170 for a taxi as well as paying for the multi course dinner. No welcome drink and no food not even some bread (despite asking for some) for an hour. After this a table of six left to eat in the Jasmine; we wish we’d joined them as after another our we had only had one starter. After three and a half hours we left in frustration at the lack of food, or any apology. To summarise, Don’t Go AO!
I had an incredible experience at Dosa express ! The flavors were truly authentic — just like back home in India. I tried the mutton curry, chicken kottu rotti, and egg parotta, and each dish was packed with rich, traditional South Indian spices and cooked to perfection. The mutton was tender and flavorful, the chicken kottu rotti had the perfect balance of spice and texture, and the egg parotta was soft, flaky, and absolutely delicious. It felt like a real taste of India in every bite. Highly recommend this place to anyone craving genuine South Indian flavors!
"Under the new ownership, feels even more like home! The food is so authentically South Indian — rich, flavorful, and cooked with heart.Truly a hidden gem for real South Indian food lovers!"
For a good honest breakfast which included bread and butter and a tea or coffee, I couldn't complain about £7.50 which was freshly cooked. There were five different breakfasts depending on what you think you can eat as well as omelette, sandwiches ect.
