Lunch with friends. A friendly village pub with really good food. Quite an adventurous menu for a community village pub, I thought. The sweet potato wrap was really well presented and tasty. A member of the group had the chicken salad which was full of delicious ingredients such as olives and sundried tomatoes. Definitely worth a visit and good to support this community-financed venture.

Just visited the White Horse on a busy Saturday lunchtime and would say it's just what people want from a pub these days. It's family friendly, dogs seemed welcome on leads. We were there for a birthday lunch but there were walkers and other familes there. There were local beers on draught but sadly I was driving. The menu isn't huge but it doesn't need to be as it covers most bases and there were a couple of specials available. My children ate from the kids menu which is ideal while me and my Mum had the chicken and leek pie which was spot on. Lovely, buttery short crust pastry, a little crisp but not dry and loaded to the top with filling. We left feeling full and the prices are very reasonable. The staff were polite and professional. I would highly recommend this place and wish them all the best as it seems like a lot of sensible thought and effort has gone into what they offer here

Extremely welcoming, dog friendly, great standard of British pub food, and community owned. We had 2 lunches and 1 dinner during a short stay in the village, and we would definitely return!

Craig and team have made this a very friendly place to meet with friends and enjoy good food at reasonable prices. The cask beer is well looked after and it’s a place to go for a drink and a chat, as well as to eat. No telly and no gastro pretentiousness ( both a good thing!)

Late decision to head out to this Community owed pub for food and what a good decision it was. Friendly staff, great beer and wonderful food. My friend chose a special of Chicken schnitzel, which was moist and tasty. I chose the legendary chicken and leek pie. Wow. The suet crust pastry was as light a feather and melted in the mouth, and packed with tender chicken. Cant recommend this highly enough.

Great community pub, with proper pub food. The halloumi, burger and chilli were delicious, and the crumble was top-notch. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the provision of doggy beds is inspired.

We had an early impromptu birthday walk / dinner and came to this lovely community pub. The staff are so friendly, both welcoming and helpful. There are even beds for dogs, an enormous bonus for sighthounds, and saves us from having to carry one as we usually do when we want some peace. Reasonable prices, good pub food, including fabulous crumble!

A great family firework evening! Really appreciated all the effort Craig, Barbara and the team put in, to make this a special event. The baked potatoes were delicious (these would be a great addition to the regular menu.) The band and whole atmosphere was super. Thank you.

We had a lovely lunch at this warmly friendly, community-owned pub after a great four mile circular walk along the river Evenlode and back over Oaklands Farm. The food is good pub fare - plus a delicious first birthday cake when we were there; the atmosphere is very friendly and the village is full of interesting things. Spread the word!

The White Horse is a wonderful traditional village community pub with a relaxed friendly atmosphere. We have eaten here several times since the pub reopened in May this year, each time we’ve had an excellent meal. Whether it be a Saturday morning English cooked breakfast, a traditional Sunday roast or something from the specials board. Tasty, unpretentious food and good value too! The bar and restaurant area are modest in size so booking is probably advisable, however there is a lovely large garden with lots of picnic tables. Real ale fans are well catered for with two different choices on tap from small local breweries for each of our visits, they were spot on. Well worth a visit.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch after a walk from Stonesfield to the Roman villa and back today. My chicken, stuffed and wrapped in parma ham, was juicy and delicious and came with generous amounts of well-cooked veg, excellent gravy and a huge Yorkshire. My veggie sister enjoyed her roast too. Great to have a local pub back open. It's friendly and unpretentious with very good service. And best of all great value! Thank you, The White Horse team. We will be back.

We were regular customers at the Black Prince in Woodstock before it closed and there was a good reason it was the No. 1. Craig’s warm welcome and Barbara’s warm food were enough to persuade us to walk 1hr 30m. We weren’t disappointed, the ‘legendary’ suet pastry chicken and leek pie is as good as ever, I’d walk 2 hours for that! Good burgers, salads and haloumi fries too. The food was always great tasting and great value and still is. The beer garden is lovely, plenty of space and walled to keep out too much breeze. Stonesfield has waited a long time to have its pub back. It will have been worth the wait.

A pub saved by the community and a fantastic job they did! A lovely traditional pub, with 2 rooms, one more bar the other more restaurant and a decent size garden. Super staff serving great local beer and super food, I had “just” a sandwich, all at a very reasonable price. I’ll be sad if I don’t get to there soon.

We were visiting friends who live in Stonesfield and enjoyed an excellent evening at the White Horse yesterday. A truly warm friendly community atmosphere as soon as we walked in, friendly professional staff team and the menu had good varied choices but of a size that allowed it to be freshly cooked and food was delicious. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent pub in what use to be the village I grew up in pub has come very far and it’s amazing food is delicious simple pleasing menu which will hopefully expand in the future, service is very good didn’t have to wait to long for food good atmosphere will definitely come again

Excellent village pub. Local beer on tap and the food was excellent. Atmosphere is very pub-y and friendly. There are dog friendly outdoor tables with large umbrellas that are first come first serve, while the inside is reservable and is often booked up on the weekends. Prices are reasonable, portions were good but not excessive. I had the fish and chips... was on par or better than most I have had. My wife had the chicken leek pie and it was excellent. One of my boys had the ploughman's lunch and was very pleased.

We stayed in Stonesfield for a few days and called in at the White Horse for a few nights whilst here. Craig was so welcoming and chatty and we loved the whole feel of the pub and the local community. It’s going to be a great success and we wish you luck in everything you do. Food was fab and dogs are welcomed which was great as well.

Nice to see the pub open again in the village, it must have been around 40 years since I was last in there. The menu is small at this stage but understandable in the early stages of the business. The food was good, presented well, a good portion size and excellent value for money. Service was just slightly slow after asking for the bill and the time taken for this to arrive.

Now under community ownership, The White Horse was a great place to enjoy a pint and a sandwich, both very reasonably priced. Cosy surroundings and a warm welcome. A chilled, friendly atmosphere. Big beer garden too for warmer days.

Was great to see Craig today in The wonderful white horse pub in Stonesfield, he’s always been so good to my mum. We had the most delicious and wonderful Sunday lunch sat in the wonderful garden in the sunshine, followed by a delicious dessert along with a couple of delicious lovely cold drinks, the food was delicious, the staff led by Craig were exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite, the food was amazing and sitting sitting in the wonderful garden in the beautiful summers day was exceptional, not been to this pub before, but without doubt, we will be back.

Hi I'm just home from your pub I had a great time I had a ploughmans and a beer both went well I visited before when you had volunteers it is so much better now you have your Tennant your menu has drastically improved and I will be back again

Not the biggest venue, but cosy feel to it, friendly, efficient staff, a good range of ales and the bar food we shared ( chicken goujons) was excellent.

A miserable rainy Saturday felt like a lovely relaxing autumn lunchtime! Very friendly and nothing was to much trouble in this Pub located in the quiet Cotswold village of Stonesfield, we relaxed with drinks in the small bar area while perusing the simple but adventurous menu, well thought out with, I’m sure, something to suit anyone’s taste. Our hosts were both chatty and attentive and allowed us just the right amount of time before taking our order (we being a group of six booked at the very last minute) and the food arrived very quickly, served on hot but not scalding plates! Our six year old diner couldn’t believe her luck when she saw the portion size of her sausage with mash & beans but had no trouble in clearing the plate!! The rest of us all tries different dishes from the menu and we’re pleasantly surprised that food served so quickly could be so good. We all agreed we will definitely return and all of us have the whole experience a well deserved 5 stars.

Lovely country pub. Excellent food and friendly service. Prices are reasonable and the environment is really pleasant. Plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating under a marquee. Highly recommended.

I stopped here by chance as I had a few hours to kill. I thoroughly recommend that you seek out this lovely gastropub. Reasons? It is nicely decorated. There is a lovely atmosphere and everyone was really friendly. And last but not least the food was delicious and not expensive. All in all a very pleasant experience and one I hope to repeat.
