Very warm welcome. Superb drink choice and amazing quality. Unbelievable cakes.... I had the Jaffa cheesecake - OMG I'm in Heaven! Great atmosphere to relax, people watch, chat & read. Open light and spacious with tables not too close together. Spotlessly clean. Highest food hygiene rating certified which I'm really keen on. All round fantastic place that is deffo going to be my default go to place ❤️☕🍵🍰🥧🍴🥄

Food was cold, any form of chicken was somehow dry and also slimy with the chicken being 10% chicken 90% batter. Chips were barely seasoned and cold. This is also the most expensive Chinese I know a meal for one person is at least 12 pounds minimum.

Only went in for a nice cold refreshing drink - left with a kitchen, cooker, dishwasher, 2 bar stools, a table, and 4 chairs 🙃

Just sorry we didn't take photos! The food was beautiful! The folkes friendly! If you're looking for real food and not your pub chain quantity over quality, the Travellers Rest is definitely worth the stop. Excellent quality, nice menu and you won't be left hungry. The pub area is also cosy and welcoming for patrons and pooches!

Been in a couple of times now food improved. But my Chips were cold in the week So went in last night to get takeaway just mentioned my Chips were cold when I got home the other night. For the young English girl to question how could they be cold and how far did I travel. Does not matter how far even though I only live behind the shop for her to question a customer her attitude was rude. Disappointing for a staff member to speak to customers abruptly. Not good when there is competition near by. Respect the customers

Was really looking forward to this food with my misses. Only nice thing to our meal was the Tika massalla lamb which was good. The rest of it was just a big greasy mess. Chicken pakora was like a ball of grease, can tell why the food hygiene has a 3 star rating currently and then a 1 previously. Price is not bad if your looking for a soggy greasy Indian. Good service when you go in but that's what your paying for. If you want a good Indian go amans down the road and pay that little bit extra. Rather eat My babys food for my tea sorry guys Ps get a new chef and up the food hygine. Won't be back any time soon

Hard to believe a small pub like this has anpr on the car park. Edit - I appreciate an explanation for the reason you have anpr but my experience with these often outsourced systems is that they are very impersonal. Forget to enter your reg or get a letter wrong and the demands for money soon begin. It's a shame you felt that you needed to accuse me of not being a genuine customer - I am not a regular as I moved out of the area a few years ago, but as I still have family and freinds in the area we do come in together on occasion. You may not miss the custom I will no longer give due to the condescending reply.

New Year’s Eve at the church inn pub in Lowton, near Leigh was a busy good night except for the management. Firstly, they scammed quite a few of us by advertising that Robbie Williams (tribute)would be there. I myself motivated 10 people to join me just for that experience. When we got there, everyone was deflated saying it’s just Robbie the DJ .😢 Then there were three of us customers that were wondering why the DJ had just ignored playing our karaoke songs. Then after buying quite a large round of drinks (including doubles) ……we noticed when we got back from the dancefloor, that they had all been removed by the bar staff! I asked them nicely to replace the drinks that they took away from us. So they replaced the white wine, but not my red wine. So because I told the truth, the Irish manager kicked me out shouting at me. He said there was no more red wine left in the bar for me so he’s not replacing my drink! So my friend bought me another to compensate for them stealing our drinks. Then as I was talking about this with another customer, the female bar staff came around the bar and stood right in my face. She told me.”You better leave now or I will call the police”. I had to laugh, but nice and quietly I reiterated my concerns. She then raised her voice saying “I’m throwing you out now” I’ve never been thrown out of a pub in my whole life as I am a professional and upstanding member of my community. As I walked away, she was shouting something behind me. So I just had to turn round and quietly say “ don’t worry about asking me if I’ve had a good New Year’s Eve, I’ll put it in the review”. I just wondered if this new management have treated anyone else or your friends so disrespectfully? Very disappointing and don’t recommend if other customers are treated rudely from the staff
