Amans Indian Restaurant in Wigan

Place looks lovely and inviting, staff are pleasant and welcoming the starter was mediocre then the mains came, sorry guys but it was tasteless. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Found the staff to be rude & abrupt , they spilt my drink & didn't even wipe it up , I had to use my own napkin to wipe down. We were the first in the restaurant at 4pm for the early bird menu & it took over an hr to receive the mains & the food was well below par compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to & I travel all over the UK for work. By far this is the worst Indian restaurant I've been to!!! When I paid the bill I did not tip & the waiter threw the receipt at me. I will never go there again & I will tell people who think of going NOT to go!!!

Encontré que el personal era grosero y abrupto, derramaron mi bebida y ni siquiera la limpiaron, tuve que usar mi propia servilleta para limpiar. Fuimos los primeros en el restaurante cuando abrió a las 4 pm para el menú temprano y tomó más de una hora para recibir la red y la comida estaba muy por debajo de la par en comparación con otros restaurantes indios en los que he estado y viajo por todo el país por trabajo. ¡De lejos, este es el peor restaurante indio en el que he estado! Cuando pagué la cuenta no me di propina y el camarero me tiró mi recibo. Nunca volveré a ir allí y le diré a la gente que piensa en ir que NO vaya!

It was ok, felt more like they want you in and out quickly... Hardly any meat in the dishes, but the food was quite good

Great place loved the food and reasonable prices

We booked for a large group with not a lot of notice yet the staff were brilliant. We were working in the area and wanted to celebrate a colleague so 20 of us descended on the restaurant and service was fantastic. Drinks were flowing, food came out in good time and they were constantly checking we had everything. A real gem.

Not local to the area and randomly chose this restaurant to eat & with no pre conception I can easily say this is probably the nicest inadian restaurant I have eaten in. Nice atmosphere, friendly & helpful staff. Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. If I am ever in the area again I won't hesitate to book there again.

Working out of town, fancied a curry. Sooooo lucky, this was the nearest to my digs. Has the 4 course meal ( only managed 3 courses) and everything was stunning, meat all tender, sauces full of flavour but still taste the meat a vegetables. I will definitely return and highly recommend it for quality and price.

Called in last night with a friend we hadn't book. We were seated immediately, the food drink and service were first class.

The food is always amazing, very tasty. If you eat in, the waiters time asking if you need anything perfectly (not when your mouth is full basically) and the staff are friendly. Takeaway is also spot on and always hot when you get home. This is one restraunt i cant improve by saying they need to do this, that or the other. I highly recommend everyone tries this place!

Excelente comida y un servicio excepcional como siempre! Tuvimos amigos que se quedaron el fin de semana, así que decidimos cenar en casa de Aman una noche - y no nos decepcionaron! El personal nos reconoció inmediatamente cuando entramos en el restaurante y nos mostraron a nuestra mesa. La cerveza india Kingfisher es fenomenal, y toda la comida también. Escogimos poppadoms y dips como entrada ligera y cada uno tenía un plato principal diferente, según el gusto. Todo era absolutamente magnífico y nuestros huéspedes estaban muy impresionados también. Sin duda volveremos pronto!

Phoned on off chance as stayed locally for a trip to Manchester. Fitted us in - the small licensed restaurant was packed. Lovely food. My chicken Shashlik was gorgeous. Great wine list. Great service. Would recommend & go again! Fab.

Amans used to serve top quality food and service, which is why this review comes following the 2nd poor takeaway we’ve had rather than the first. We ordered takeaway to be picked up at 9pm and arrived to collect it right on time. Got the food home and it was cold, had obviously been sitting for a while waiting even though we’d only ordered 30 minutes before. The madras was overly spicy without much flavour, but the butter chicken was the absolute worst… over sweetened tomato soup with slivers of what was supposed to be chicken, no proper taste to it just sickly sweet. Amans claim to be the best Indian restaurant in Lowton… well they’re the only one so that’s not false but they are absolutely the worst… won’t be going again.

Nice little restaurant that offers takeaway too. Been here a few times when visiting a friend and it's good. The food and service is very good and it's a shame it's not local to me .

Amazing thanks guys! First time ordering from here and opted to takeaway, was very easy to order online, didn't have to wait long before picking up. The restaurant is clean and tidy and most importantly full! Couldn't see an empty table which speaks volumes Food is hot and fresh and very nice, friendly service and reasonable price. We will be ordering again!

It was our first visit time to Amans, it certainly won’t be our last. Starters, mains and the pashwari naan were excellent. It suggests to me that Amans has a good reputation when the restaurant was at least half occupied on a Tuesday evening at 6.30pm.

Been a few times, food and service always good. Just needs air-conditioning or a fan, it does get hot or is that the food. But keep going back.

Not like it used to be. Tabled crammed in like sardines, no way can you have a private conversation. The noise level made it impossible to hear your partner. So many customers because of too many tables made service very slow. Gof my order wrong, i didnt complain because there would have been a longer wait. I did make them aware afterwards but they insisted that they were right and had served me the correct dish. In my opinion they have got greedy by trying to put too many tables and are neglecting good service as a consequence.

Last minute decision to have dinner at Amans, as we are local in Lowton. Despite the restaurant being busy, we were seated and drinks order taken promptly (Kingfisher on draft). The staff and the service were excellent. We skipped the poppadoms and went in for samosas and bhajis for starters, followed by mushroom bhuna and a vegetable dhansak for mains. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. Amans is a really good Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant.

Emily was a pleasure exceptional customer service and food was great not too long of a wait.

Was a little sceptical from reading some of the reviews. Booked for a friend's birthday treat and was one of the best evenings we've had, glad we tried it ourselves! Atmosphere was really great, staff were excellent and not over powering. The food was incredible and arrived hot and all together. The price was perfect for the quality of food and experience. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be revisiting!

Takeaway meal of disappointment!! Frozen food that lacked taste and dry taste. Rice was fused together we could take it out of the serving container fully compacted together ( never experienced rice quite like this ) and had a smell of cleaning product?? Meat dishes we ordered Tandoori Mix Grill - meat was hard and apparent it had been frozen before cooking not fresh - food your body wouldn’t appreciate and make you sick !!!! Tasteless and disgusting!!!! Amans you should be ashamed of your delivery of such Poor Quality Food

We wouldn’t class ourselves as regulars but we have been here a few times and it was always quite good but our last visit 4/8/2023 was not good at all. So it was our wedding anniversary and i called up earlier in the week to book a table for me, my wife and my 6 year old daughter. When we arrived we were quite quickly designated a table then it was decided that we were at the wrong table and we were then moved to a table in the corner where we got completely forgotten about. We had to request someone to take an order for drinks, then 20 minutes later the drinks arrived. We then had to request menu’s of which they brought 2. Yes i know this may seem unimportant to some but this was a big thing to my little girl being left out. Anyway, eventually they came back to take our order and the popadoms arrived swiftly. These we really did enjoy. The waiter could see at this point that we was ready for our main courses so removed the last of the popadoms from the table. 45 minutes later I asked where our meals were and was told that they are coming out now. 15 minutes later the food arrived. My Lamb madras had 4 pieces of lamb in it and tasted very bland. My wifes rogan josh was good, my little girls massala was as spicy as my madras! It was also very clear that the rice had been re-heated. Very disappointing for a meal that cost the best part of £100 and a very disappointing event for our wedding anniversary. After sitting with half full plates not being touched for half an hour we decided to leave. Upon going to the bar to pay the bill I was asked if all was ok? To which I replied, it was ok but not great, I would have expected a further question as to what was wrong to which i would have returned with constructive criticism but all we got in response was a muffled chuckle and a response of yeah its not good tonight is it! Very disappointing as there are other great Indian restaurants in the area such as Suhana’s where their service is second to none and go out of their way to make sure their guests have a great experience. Sorry Aman’s but we certainly wouldn’t recommend you to anyone off the back of this experience. I am in a customer service role myself and fully understand that sometimes things go wrong and that’s acceptable but its how you deal with these types of challenges that reflects the future of your business

Not been for a while but just as good as always.

Was really looking forward to trying here. Ordered 4 poppadoms charged for 4 given 2, butter chicken tasted like a tin of heinz tomato soup with some cream thrown in. And really expensive for a mid week meal.

We were stopping at the Premier Inn and went for a walk - only 10 mins away. Really friendly front of house staff. Food lovely. Will be back when we stop in the area again.

First time here for a takeaway tonight, starter was great but the main wasn't, the chicken was like chewing on a welly, very hard to eat but on the plus side the flaver was lovely. Will try again just in case it was a one off bad day seen as though it's been highly recommended by friends. Service by the fella behind the bar was outstanding by the way

I had a take away, i live two miles from the restaurant, went straight home. Oped my meal, it was just about warm. Not happy.

Used Amans for well over ten years, got a pick up order to find missing items and when I phoned to say they weren't there the guy said they weren't ordered, absolutely disgusting attitude he was more interested in smoking outside to check properly, I will be using Suhana in golborne from now on, sorry Amans but I wouldn't pay your employees in buttons.

Great meal with mates on a Monday. Waiters were friendly - just a little slow getting menus to us. V welcome pint of kingfisher with dinner. Good poppadoms and pickles. Chicken shashlik was given added sizzle with the Korai. V tasty and good temp. Peshwari naan was smaller than I’m used to but enjoyable nonetheless. Pilau rice nice & fluffy. Also tried my friends chicken pathia. Good level of spice and flavour there as well. All five of us left well fed and well happy bruv !

Had a take away tonight some of the food was missing so had to go back to get it then they tried to change us

Absolutely incredible as usual, to be so busy and still not let the standard drop in the slightest is great to see… we travel a long way just to collect a takeaway, never bother going anywhere else as others don’t come close. Well done Sam and the team 👍 highly recommend lamb chops and the chicken tikka Manchuri

The starters were fabulous and the service was excellent. However the Rogan Josh was bland and the lamb shank was not as good as it used to be. Slightly disappointed

The team at Amans always provide a good level of service. The food is a good quality and having been to this restaurant several times with my work colleagues, I have always been impressed with the quality of the food.

Food excellent but waited half an hour past our booking to be seated as it was very busy.

Food was tasty as always, i pre ordered at 3.30pm for 7.15pm I arrived at 7.10 and was stood waiting in the restaurant for 35 minutes.

Amans is the nearest thing to a local Indian restaurant for us. We have been coming here for several years now. We've never had a bad meal in Amans restaurant. The food is always cooked fresh to order and is really good quality. Sam and his team are a very friendly bunch and service is good. The takeaway service is often a bit hit and miss. Be prepared for a slight delay and have a laugh and a chat with Sam whilst you wait. The food will be worth it when you get it home.

Amazing food, lovely host's and the price was pretty good too. Will see you soon.

My first visit, great food, great service and the “early bird “ menu a bargain. I will definitely be returning as I am very tempted to try the recommendations and specials. All safety measures are in place, Perspex screens, masks, distancing, hand gel and the likes. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff and try the “chat “ option for any queries as they will always get back to you. I recommend it and it’s conveniently positioned off the east lancs with plenty of parking. Try it, book to avoid disappointment as they can be busy and for good reason.

Same chain as the one located in Astley. Their Indian never disappoints. Take away is good, and if you want a sit down experience then I highly recommend the one in Astley!

We rang for a takeaway and was told 25 mins. The food was excellent Very tasty. Service was great and staff very friendly

Collected a takeaway on new year's eve fortunatly I didn't have to wait long but some people had to wait a while due to a oven problem, received a call from the manager the next day to apologise for the wait, now that is great customer service and a great meal.

Other Indian restaurants in the area just can't touch the quality of food from Amans. I ordered a takeaway of prawn Puri, naga, and various sundries - all very tasty and fresh. I love this place and I'll do my best to support them through lockdown.

Terrible Customer Service! Ordered takeaway day before for New Years Eve. Left waiting outside in freezing cold for over an hour now and still 7 people in front. No staff has come out to apologise or explain the delay. No one answering the phone either. Shouldn't take orders if you can't fulfil them. You don't deserve our custom, and I'm sure all the others in the queue will agree. Will be ordering our takeaway from somewhere else in 2021!!!

I've been to loads of Indian restaurants all over the UK and even the world. But Amans is always my number one place.

Me and my partner decided to come here on a Wednesday night because it was her birthday. We ordered drinks and everything was fine, having a chat and we didn't look at the menu, the waiter came over and we wanted 20 mins and it was like we had kicked him in the face with his expression. Then he came back again with the same attitude. Honestly I dont write reviews but it was that bad I had too share. I am now not going to order food were going home and ordering a Just Eat. Hope the waiter reads this and wakes up or gets a different job

Had another fantastic authentic Meal here & great service too! This time there was 5 of us & we all enjoyed different food. I had the starter Machlee Biran which is a pan fried fish starter with medium spices & it was beautiful. The others had mixed platter & Tandoori platter & thoroughly enjoyed them Mrs K had a Veg & Paneer Jalfrezi which was really tasty. I had the King Prawn Nagpuri which was really hot & spicy but that’s exactly what I love. The others had Chicken Manchoori which is an Aman speciality & delicious, Chicken Tikka Madras & Beef Balti & they loved their dishes. The food as always was Spectacular & the service was fab too. We recommend this as our favourite Restaurant in the area. Great work Sam & Team 👏👏👏

I had the fish dish which i had made slightly hotter but not too hot. The fish was fresh & cooked to perfection being still soft and flaky. The sauce was complimentary to the fish. The paneer starters where tasty too. The service is freindly and quiet. Highly recommended Indian in Lowton.

Always great service and fabulous food.

We were a party of four and all ordered very different dishes. Service was great, as always. Having each sampled all the dishes it was clear that they were distinct and delicious. This is not one of those restaurants where the sauces all taste very similar with varying levels of chilli. Portion sizes are just right as well. We have been visiting Amans since it opened and have never been disappointed. Only quibble, the 'mood lighting' made it a little difficult for us older guests to read the menu, but smartphone torch saved the day.

Food is amazing as always, was a bit disappointed that the early bird menu was not on as this was not advertised in the restaurant or on the menus nor were we told when seated (not in in dec/jan we were told at the point of ordering) so our usual cost a lot more than expected but food was lovely

We decided to go out for a meal on Christmas day for a change and chose Amans Lowton. Unfortunately this turned out to be a mistake due to the atrocious service we recieved on the day. On arrival at our 5pm slot pre booked there was a queue out of the door. We were advised by other waiting customers that they had been waiting over 30 mins already for the 4.30 sitting and had been told the delay was down to earlier customers drinking and refusing to leave! We asked the waiters what we should do and were basically told there was nothing they could do just wait. As it was so busy and I had 2 kids they luckily went to wait in the car because 5 mins later another customer staggered drunkenly through the mass of waiting customers covered in vomit leaving a trail behind him all over the floor. This led to further delays as the waiters attempted to clean the vomit covered seating area left by the rowdy customer. Some 20 mins later without any communication whatsoever we were finally seated at 5.45pm without an apology and to make matters worse we were seated on the table affected by the aforementioned customer. On complaining to the head waiter about this we were told there was no alternative table but it was clean if I wanted to inspect it!What happened beyond this point was an ongoing example of poor customer service. Missing drink orders which had to be re requested, missing cutlery, mismatched wine glasses and extremely long waits for food. By the point of finishing our main meals at 8pm we had been in the venue 3 hours and were unable to stay to eat our desserts due to young children. Even when the restaurant began to empty the service was extremely slow. Our plates sat waiting to be cleared for ages whilst waiters smoked outside. We just expressed our displeasure and paid the bill but this again was not met with any sincere apology or offer of compensation. The food when it actually arrived was very nice. I cant comment on desserts. It was clear they had overbooked and struggled to cope but the lack of communication or explaination was shocking- considering the price as well. Needless to say regardless of how tasty the food we will not be returning at Christmas or any special event ever again. We even had to remind them to give us some Christmas crackers!!

The lamb chop starter cannot be beaten for taste and the madras curry is top class. Juel is fantastic and make you feel very welcome

Visited Aman’s with a group of friends, we all stay in different parts of the country and all thought the food was great. We would definitely return again.

We love this place & it offers everything our Party wants. We have some of our Family that like very mild dishes like Korma & we also love Jalfrezi, Madras, Vindaloo & occasionally Phal. We love the fact of whatever dish we order it is the right amount of spice acccording to the dish because of the excellent Chefs. Some places when you order a dish it is either too mild or too hot & after years of enjoying Indian Food you should be able to receive the correct dish you have ordered.This place gets it right time after time & with Sam & his Team the service is always excellent too. When we're at home this is our number 1 destination for Fantastic Food & Five star service
