Stopped here with the MH. Really warm welcome from Nigel and the team. Good menu choices, good food at reasonable prices. Came back later for dessert! Recommended.

We had a lovely meal, staff followed the Corona virus health and safety guidelines. All the staff were welcoming. OMG,! I think I forgot to finish last review. Still lovely staff, very attentive. Great place for charity festivals or quiet drinks and food. We'll done again.

Chicken strips have gone really skinny last couple of times I've had them they have bin like tooth pics more batter than chicken not worth the money

Went in for a Sunday lunch and was an extra bonus seeing bottomless Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes are now available and was not disappointed, excellent food as well as excellent service as always, highly recommend!

So we sat down and ordered food. Which was really good but noticed drink and a meal from £6.75, encased in gold on the reverse of the menu so assumed we’d get a drink free as it was on the food menu. Settling the bill we got no discount. I was informed the discount applied to a different menu? So why was it on the reverse of the food menu? Why was it encased in gold? They also said the offer applied to selected drinks? Which weren’t advertised stated on the menu. Disappointing overall. I can read and understand English I mentioned to the supervisor I thought she was wrong. Pics uploaded.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our Motorhome., as we were visiting family in Leigh (my hometown), and honestly, we couldn't fault a thing. The staff are so nice and friendly. The food was excellent, both at lunchtime and at dinner. It's a great place, and we'll definitely be back next year.

On the 27th July we held our wedding reception and full evening at the pub , it was everything and much more . Nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing. For any occasion this is the place Thanking you again for making our special day even more special 💕 Leanne and Mark

Took my daughter for a birthday lunch. Lovely day so sat outside, it was nice & pleasant, but sadly the food was not up to scratch. We both ordered the bruchetta which was just a soggy mess, think the top must have fallen off the olive oil bottle on both! How can you get such a simple dish so wrong. Worst I've ever had. We had a couple more small plates which were ok but expensive for what we had. Would go back for drinks but not sure I'd eat there again.

What can I say about this pub. Laura, Nigel and the team did us proud. The food was absolutely amazing and there was plenty of it. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We had a lovely afternoon and night celebrating Barry’s birthday. Thank you to everyone. I would highly recommend this pub for any function.

Wouldn’t bother. Book a table to be told that there’s a wait on food, however wouldn’t specific a time? Approached the bar to be told there is 100 people outside waiting for food in a very rude manner. Well don’t take bookings then? Terrible customer service and a dive

Visiting my parents for a few days and my final night we came for a meal, only had 2 fish and chips and a scampi and chips, although a party of approximately 12 had arrived ahead of us our meals were delivered very quickly and all well presented and hot, the manager had warned us there could be a delay as only a couple of staff on duty, i can't fault anything, i was in hospitality management for over 30 years, well done keep up the great work you're doing, my parents will be back.

No longer our 'go to pub' sadly! Everything has deteriorated greatly since it became part of a chain! The menu is boring and limited... also the quality of the food isn't that great anymore! Sad, but true! Gammon and eggs... no eggs! No pineapple to offer as egg alternative! Steak and ale pie... no longer available (despite being on the menu both in the pub and online 🤔! What pub doesn't have any sort of pie amongst its 'classics' The service was good, and we felt for the embarrassment of the waitress having to tell us dishes we'd ordered weren't available! Really poor! And expensive too for what's on offer!

We called her for our evening meal. Brendan was so lovely and attentive, really welcoming. He took out order and brought out our food and drinks with a smile. Thankyou Brendan. The food however, was just OK, very generic, didn't appear to be home cooked. It was OK though, nothing wrong with it but definitely nothing special. We wouldnt eat here again, although we would come along for a drink and the nice atmosphere and service.

Great little pub. Fantastic food, great selection of drinks and really friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. If you haven't tried it, get down there and give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

This was our first visit and what a lovely place .The buffet was very nice and the staff were most respectful to our visit ! If we lived nearby we would definitely make this our local !!!

We have called in a couple of times with our puppy. It's a very dog friendly place. The staffa nd regular customers have been very friendly too. A great beer garden even if it cooler and wet they have a marquis to sit under with a heater. Dogs are welcome inside on ahead and not in food area. Not eaten there yet but will try. Have regular events for people to attend with fun days, music events etc. Highly recommend

I notice there are several reviews complaining about portion sizes and sadly this is another one. I ordered sausage and mash and the mash was invisible underneath the 3 sausages. The mash was the cheapest part of the meal and yet the portion was pitiful. I felt like handing 5p to the server and asking him to go tell the chef to mash another spud and give him the 5p as payment for it. It cost £12.95 for 3 sausages which were actually very tasty, a small blob of mash and barely a spoonful of peas. I know they need to make a profit but the size of the meal was just a rip off. The tables looked grubby , our table felt sticky and they all looked as if they needed a good wash down followed by some elbow grease and a good polish. There was a young lad obviously learning how to serve customers etc but he looked totally fedup and as if he`d rather be anywhere but there. Somehow I got the feeling customer service wasn`t his forte. All in all, the whole meal was just about passable, the tasty sausages saved the day but when you leave somewhere still feeling hungry then there`s obviously something wrong. Doubt we`ll bother going again.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for the roast dinners and they was delicious, nice clean pub, friendly staff and we was served by Becky who was extremely friendly and helpful Thank you so much we will definitely be returning :)

I can’t recommend the Robin Hood enough! We go there regularly and cannot fault the food and service. We often take our puppy there too which is super handy! One side is dog friendly and the other is the main restaurant which works so well for us and the best of both worlds! We have also held our daughter’s party there which was again just amazing - the staff are super helpful and always so lovely. Definitely recommend!!

Went today for some drinks with friends to catch up. When approached the bar the two men behind the bar were talking amongst themselves then when they spotted us one said F*ck O** and walked off? We were so confused, as we just walked up the bar? We asked him for two simple Rum & Cokes which seemed difficult for him? As he rolled his eyes when ordering. As we were leaving they were laughing at us when walking out of the door. How can you expect paying customers when treating people like this?? Needs some sorting out ASAP.

We all went to Robin Hood and had an amazing night , thanks to Liam. Amazing customer service !! 5 stars ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We will be back again soon 😁😁

Good outdoor seating area, food is limited and I would consider a little over priced. That said and done it's of a decent quality and always served hot.

Great Sunday to big disappointment Tuesday.. Sunday myself and my wife was out walking going around the nearby the entire Pennington flash and we decided to call in and have a drink and a roast dinner, the beer garden where we sat and the pub was pretty busy yet our food was out pretty quickly and the roast dinner was nice we was very happy with our visit. So today i thought I’d go again with my son after being happy on the previous visit with service and food quality but it was exact opposite, we ordered our meals and there wasn’t anything like the same amount as Sunday it was pretty quiet all the tables around us was empty. So i order sausage and mash and son goes with the hunter chicken and we order a desert too, the food took ages to arrive and when it does the gravy is loaded with onions yet i didn’t see that mentioned in the gravy on the bar menu but as im hungry i just put it all on a napkin yet even so the food wasn’t anywhere near as nice as the roast even the mash was poor in comparison to one from days previous, chips on my sons food was a lot of smaller end of a bag type stuff. So we finished our main and await the desert and we are waiting and waiting so it’s gone 20mins after us finishing out main and nothing so i get up ask staff who apologise and say they’ll get it sorted but even then it was over 10mins for it too arrive. The desert which was a Sticky toffee and my son had the brownie was very nice as was the roast dinner, but the food today wasn’t that good and the time we was in there must’ve been 70mins which for a pretty quiet pub and we eat fairly quickly made it a disappointing visit as we was just sat waiting majority of our visit. I’d recommend Sunday roast and the deserts yet I’d never go again in the week as the waiting and food wasn’t in the same league as our Sunday visit if my review was based on Sunday it’d be nothing but praise yet today was the opposite so I’ve rated down the middle on my overall visit.

I love the home made cheese pie from here! So very tasty! Unfortunately at the time of writing this review, they have changed the menu and it’s no longer the amazing home cooked food that they used to do. It’s turned into a chain. Very sad about this as it’s the same menu as anyone local pub we go to very close by.

Menu not as advertised, ended up ordering the Sunday roast with a trio of meats. When the food arrived portion sizes where small, just three pieces of meat, a couple of tiny cooked from frozen roast potatoes, one small cooked from frozen Yorkshire pudding, two slices of carrot and a teaspoon sized portion of mashed potato. It was extremely overpriced at £16.99 and the quality was poor. One of us had the chicken burger which had some mashed potato on it (must have been cross contaminated with the other food in the kitchen) and came with the wrong accompaniments, again poor quality especially for the price. Definitely would not recommend and won’t be returning.

Probably the best chicken strips with gravy I've had , had them a few times now and they have never disappointed ,far far better than the famous fast food places

Visited on a trip to Pennington Flash with family spanning 4 generations and absolutely everyone loved it, banging honest grub and service with a personality. (Burger was so good I find myself thinking about it when hungry weeks later🤣). Pub done right, will definitely visit again.

We stayed overnight in our Motorhome on their car park. The landlord and his family could not have been more welcoming. The food was proper homemade pub grub, and service was personal and warm. Great value. Opposite the country park, so lovely walks too. Definitely return when visiting family in area. 👍🏻

I had a lovely lunch with my daughter and grandson. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely. Definitely go again.

We had a family meal (Saturday evening), great food and welcoming atmosphere. A bit of noise from the bar with the rugby on but it wasn't too loud in the dining room. They made a minor error with our order but they worked to put it right. Owner was very friendly.

Visited here as I had been craving a roast beef dinner lol.... And I got exactly that 😁.... This is a lovely pub/eatery, real home cooked food which, I have to say was delicious. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be visiting again soon. I went back here today with my daughter and wow, what a difference, and not in a good way.... My daughter is dairy intolerant and asked for a coffee with any 'alternative' milk, but they don't cater for this, although, this is not unusual to be fair. We asked the lady serving about the 'lunch and a drink' offer for £6.75. As she didn't actually know what this entailed, she went to ask the 'man' ( I assumed this man was the landlord). We were told that we could choose anything from the lunch menu for this price. It took a while but the food came and it was OK as pub grub goes, but, when we went to pay we were told it was £21 and some pences!!!! The original lady who checked for us, and took the order had left for home, and the lady now on the till was adamant that it was a ' mix up due to a new menu' and we would only have gotten soup for £6.75 !!..... If we had ordered the normal sized portions from the main menu instead of the half size lunch portions, it would only have cost maybe £3 more.... There was zero atmosphere and the kitchen staff were extra busy, chatting on their phones in a huddle at the bar area...... Sadly, since the refurbishment, the whole place has gone downhill. Such a shame, we will not be returning.

After a 6 mile walk around Pennington flash, our party of 8 (4 adults and 4 children) where hungry and very much looking forward to a Sunday roast. Although the waitress was attentive and also happy to help cater for a coeliac within our party, we were hugely disappointed at the portion sizes of the Sunday roast especially for the £14.50 price tag. Desserts and drinks on top you are looking at £25 per person minimum. Most of our party ordered roast chicken which resembled a sparrows leg rather than a chicken, the roast potatoes were over cooked and the small amount of veg was quite soggy, although the Yorkshire pudding was nice. I did feel for the coeliac in our party. Although the Robin Hood where happy to cater for her and provide a roast dinner, no stuffing or Yorkshire pudding was provided, which is understandable, however nothing else was added meaning her plate was quite minimal for the £14.50 price tag. Hugely disappointed and we had to eat again when home. Sadly, we won't be returning as we didn't feel the food was filling nor value for money. This is a real shame as it's in a prime spot close to the flash. I don't usually leave negative feedback, however I do hope this is taken on board. Offering a 2 course or 3 course option with large portions of veg/sides would certainly be welcomed.

Very impressed. The staff was vey accommodating for us with 1 dog and 1 child needing a high chair. Prompt service in a polite manner. Food was plenty ,hot and delicious. Will be calling again. 10/10. Keep up the good work 👍

Service was great, I had a Sunday dinner and the beef was fairly dry. I have had a Sunday dinner here before and was much better previously.

To be avoided unless desperate for a drink! Rude uninterested staff and daytime telly on presumably for their enjoyment! Guess what won't be returning.

We were given a gift voucher and have to say what a delicious 3 course meal we had. We could not fault the food or the service. We would recommend anyone who has not been to book asap. You will not be disappointed

We called in on a Monday night for the first time the food is great but felt sorry for the one guy that was serving the bar and bringing out food and clearing up. Running around like a blue horse fly. 10/10 to him. Definitely will return as I said food was great and good fair prices.

Dined here on a recommendation but was a bit let down. Didn't have what I wanted and then got my second choice wrong. Maybe it was because they were busy. Staff were friendly enough though and there is a large car park.

A mixed review for the Robin Hood I`m afraid. We both had starters and mine was very disappointing. I`d ordered a prawn cocktail which costs £8.95 and what I received was a few prawns in too much sauce and a lettuce leaf. Nothing else in it. My husband had garlic mushrooms which he said were just ok. We ordered liver and onions for our mains and the liver was very nice but mine arrived in a dish with barely a spoon full of peas and a child size portion of mash. My husband fared a bit better because he had chips and they were a decent sized portion, still barely a spoon full of peas though. For the prices they charge we didn`t feel we`d got value for money and we know they have to make a profit but even so they need to provide good value. I doubt we`ll go again.

Well I’m shocked Robin Hood was recommended by friends AFTER going read the reviews. We thought it was great. Service was fantastic, food very good piping hot generous portions a little noisy BUT it’s a family pub Sunday afternoon?.The landlord and lady in charge of table service could not have done more, we were a group of 15 celebrating a birthday it was a brilliant time enjoyed by all who attended. Would I go again with a moments notice it was great. Thank you

The food was hot and served quickly, but I ordered a burger and it was as tough as old boots! We asked if we could use the car park as we were heading to Leigh Sports Village so long as we stopped for food, this was agreed and the team were great

Celebrated a 60th birthday 30 plus, they did really well, mix of ages, good night

Booked for a Saturday evening meal. Place was rowdy, felt like being in a tap room, food was mediocre not worth the money, certain items on menu not available. If you want a quiet relaxing meal this is not for you, felt like a service station. Only one positive the staff were pleasant. Unfortunately not for us won’t be going again.

Been today in the beer garden 10th of October 2023 and it was full of rats one after the other coming down the drain and running behind the outdoor bar we counted eight of them we left as we wouldnt eat there

Amazing Sunday roasts, everything was cooked to perfection and the mashes potato was amazing 🤤 Super quick service and the beer garden was lovely. It was great we could bring the dogs 🐶😊

I’ve always loved the Robin Hood, it’s a local fave with amazing food and drinks. Since being taken over by Nigel and co it’s only got better! Fantastic variety of food, big portions, lovely drinks and atmosphere. They also have a huge beer garden at the back with things going on, plus bouncy castle for the kids. We visited yesterday evening with family for my mums 50th birthday, the food was fantastic and the staff went above and beyond, Becky and Libby and the rest of the team were so lovely and helpful. Thank you to Nigel for the complimentary fizz, lovely touch! My mum had a lovely time. We will be back soon!

Lunchtime meal and a pint. We had been to this pub in sunnier times, for a pint. Decided to return to try the daytime menu, oops, not a good experience! Don't get me wrong here, the pub, staff, garden are all top notch. The food is well priced but quality suffers, maybe for that reason. We chose to go fish and chips, just under £13:00 each (plus mushy peas) greasy fish, chips that looked to be the last out of a freezer bag and tinned mushy peas. On the menu for the evening session this was written up as Cod and chips (on the website) My advise here is to dine in the evening, pay the extra for Cod!

At the start of the year the Robin Hood under the new management team was the place to go, lots going on exciting menu's etc. seems the air has well and truly drained from the sails! Regulars are finding elsewhere to go due to effectively being drowned out through summer, food often not available when you want to order. Recently myself and my family went in for a Sunday lunch, the server took our drinks order and brought them to our table, only then to tell us they had very little food on the premises, and certainly couldn't have a Sunday dinner as they had no meat and no vegetables? This really should have been communicated before taking a drinks order, as we would have gone elsewhere, it's mis-selling to keep you in the pub, I really hope the managers go back to basics embrace the regulars who are your bread and butter for the down periods like this, and be open and honest about what products you have for patrons to enjoy.

Very strange experience. Beer garden not cleared from the night before- such a mess. We went to order food at 12.20 but told we couldn’t until 12.30. Tried to order starters and mains but told they would all arrive together. What’s the point in that? Just tells me the kitchen can’t cope with staggering?? Food was ok confirms the kitchen theory. I used to love the home cooked braised steak 😋

Wrong order but no apology 3 served but 4th had to wait several minutes for food. Poor quality but high prices and very limited menu. £5.40 for a pint of Madri. Time of visit 7.15pm

Sat down for a Sunday dinner with my Wife, my Son and his Partner and our 2 year old granddaughter. Had a starter and Sunday lunch. £ 124.00 plus for what I consider a very mendioca starter which was over priced. Sunday lunch was also over priced and over cooked. If I was paying I would have complained, but my son paid so kept stum. 1st and last visit, Very disappointed.

Never go to a festival here ,bumped into someone and got threw to the floor and kicked out.

Very disappointing visit to this once great pub, with over priced food - £8.50 for a pizza only 3 pcs no salad no chips just 3 pcs pizza. 4 people ordered food 3 were served 1 was wrong 1 had an item missing no cutelry had to ask for that then the shop bought pizza came had better at home from aldi. Had 30 min wait for food as beer garden was busy with orders only 4 couples in beer garden not as though they are doing steak dinners this was lunch time. With a dingy fly infested atmosphere, we couldn’t wait to get out of there will never go again and won't be recommending anyone else to go very very poor.

Very disappointing visit to this once great pub, with over priced food - £14 for a small pie shop bought pie, a small scoop of mash and a spoon of peas. With a dingy fly infested atmosphere, which couldn’t wait to get out of there

Warm welcome quick service however we was the only family dining, the food I could only describe as being from a cheap supermarket stayle garlic bread frozen chips and all round cheap produce worse than cheap food chains the flys enjoyed it

This place has gone down hill. I booked a table and when we arrived it wasn’t even ready for us. I used to love going to this pub. Since it was refurbished the food they used to serve has now gone. And in are just like ping dig meals. No more home cooked stewing steak, mash and veg. Won’t be going again. ☹️

Dissapointed no Sirloin steak no braised steak

Just had a meal there and my wife's chicken smelt off so didn't touch that, but what really killed the experience was the amount of flies that was in the pub (about 50 )made us all very uncomfortable as we couldnt eat being atacked by all the flies and had to sit outside

As a chef I understand being short staffed has a impact on service but burnt microwaved pies and greasy kids food is no excuse. Had a good time but if you are struggling that much to put safe and quality food maybe you shouldn't

First and last time at this restaurant!! Funny odour on arrival that was a little off putting. Empty carpark should’ve been a red flag but it was too late to find somewhere else to dine. Food was mediocre, definitely nothing to write home about sadly. We were a group of 5 having a range of meals….. southern fried chicken & cheesy chips, peri peri chicken wrap and scampi & chips. Three of us then chose desert, one of which was biscoff sundae. Upon finishing it my friend felt something in her mouth, it was part of the biscoff cellophane wrapper that had obviously dropped in the ice cream sundae. My friend has serious health issues, one being lung related so this was a serious choking hazard. When a member of staff came to clear the table this was brought to their attention. They apologised and said they’d speak to whoever was in charge. We expected them to come back with some sort of response. Either a sincere apology or to refund the price of the desert at least! We were not approached once after this was mentioned. This is a health and safety issue and could have had serious ramifications. Extremely disappointed and will never return. I will not be recommending this ‘place’ to any of my friends. Truly awful!!! 👎🏻

I recently dined at the Robin Hood restaurant in Leigh on a Sunday evening at 6pm, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The poor service and repeated unavailability of Sunday roasts for many other customers were major disappointments that led to an empty atmosphere (many patrons left after finding out that they had no Sunday Roasts’) within the establishment. The lack of Sunday roasts, apparently happens every week. This recurring issue raises concerns about their management's lack of preparation for the expected number of customers. It's baffling that they haven't addressed this problem, considering the popularity of Sunday roasts among diners. Furthermore, I was appalled to find only ONE available vegetarian option on that particular day. With the increasing number of people adopting vegetarian diets, it's crucial for restaurants to offer a wider variety of vegetarian dishes to cater to diverse preferences. This lack of options was truly disappointing and again highlights lack of forward thinking by the management. Not to mention the vegetarian options that are listed on the website (including on the Sunday menu) that are not actually available. May I add that NO vegan options were available! On a positive note, I must admit that the burger (v) and chips I ordered were satisfactory. The quality of the food itself was acceptable. However, the overall experience was marred by poor management decisions and inadequate training of the staff. The Robin Hood restaurant has the potential to be a great dining destination, but it falls short due to its mismanagement and failure to ensure a consistent level of service. It's evident that a stronger focus on training the staff about the menu and maintaining a standard level of service is required to improve the overall customer experience.

Lovely food, friendly staff would defo go again.

Father’s Day breakfast and what a disgrace. Got there for 10am opening, first people in last to be served. Service was very poor. Waited over 1hr for breakfast could have made my own 3 times over by the time it came. Food quality was poor. Spent a lot of money and will never be going back.
