Excellent Sunday lunch at Royal Hotel Waterloo Great value very well presented congratulations to chef. Well trained and efficient staff Lovely Liz served us Would reccomend Royal for Sunday lunch.
A group of 38 people attended a Festive Dinner here where we were served what was meant to be Beef Wellington. The food was terrible with the cut of beef having the texture of shoe leather, bone dry and seriously overcooked. The potato stack was raw and rubbery with the edges singed but the centre uncooked. The vegetables were like bullets and the sweet was still frozen in the middle. Following a comprehensive complaint the blame was shifted to the party and no fair compensation was offered.
Recently visited this place, ordered my food, paid and whilst waiting for my food to be done i was looking at menu. i was asked very rudely did i have a problem and why was i looking at menu, she was not a very nice woman and although the food was ok, i will not be returning here.
We stayed at Arthur’s Bar for one night on 10/08. Initially it seemed very pleasant. Check in staff were polite and helpful. When we were showed our room, first impression was that it was small but adequate for our needs and it was clean. We were then informed that breakfast was cancelled the following morning, which was very inconvenient as there was nowhere else nearby.
Upon returning to our room after spending evening with friends, we realised that you could not see the television from the bed as it was located in an alcove in far right of the room.
The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable. It seemed that it was decades old and the springs really dug into you. It took a long time to get off to sleep and every time you shifted position, you were woken by springs digging into new parts of your body.
What really capped the experience off, was the sound of raucous laughter and loud, full volume chatter at 7.30 on a Sunday morning We assumed that it was ignorant guests. I was really surprised to discover that it was cleaning staff, 2 women showing each other TikTok videos with absolutely no regard or consideration for the guests.
So after a terrible nights sleep due to the mattress, being woken early by inconsiderate staff, no breakfast and a 5 hour drive back home ahead of us, we were extremely angry and disappointed. By rights we should be due a refund but we just wanted to get out of there.
Southport itself is a beautiful place. Arthur’s Bar is a stain on the character of this charming, Victorian seaside town.
If you ever decide to visit Southport, do yourself a favour and stay well away from Arthur’s Bar.
Lovely decor, service and food. Definitely recommend.
I love the chicken souvlaki but friends had the curry and lamb and all were happy with their choices.
The music did get ramped up making it hard to chat so we did move on after eating. (Perhaps that was us getting old so we didn't mention it!)
Great customer service as meal was delayed we received complimentary dips and pitta bread as a starter.
Will definitely return.
This is not the first time visiting the cafe and until our last visit we have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and the food and service but the women (I won’t say lady) who was in charge of the ordering behind the counter was extremely rude to myself and my husband, her attitude is not a good one for example especially working with the people who have learning disabilities.
This horrible experience was Friday 23rd February 2024 and we had asked if we could possibly have a jug of hot water to top our tea pot up, we were hit with a verbally aggressive “you will have to pay more because we are not giving you it if you are looking to get a free pot of tea”. We quietly said for her not to bother and as soon as our food arrived (which was lovely) and served by the gentle people with special needs with a great deal of love.
We ate quietly being rather upset and left and will not be back to be spoken to so horribly again.
This person should not represent such a great cause and wonderful learning establishment she is letting the company down
We don’t ever make complaints but would not like her to abuse other customers this way.
Always pop in when we visit Southport.
Was in there over the weekend,, very friendly staff!,
But the toilets were not clean,,, top of cisterns were full of dust,,, floors were filthy
The food offering has changed in here to Just Wings, which isn't to my liking but I'm reviewing on the basis of a good old karaoke evening that I participated in here a few weeks ago.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I'd gone out with a group of friends to Vérité, so wasn't expecting a karaoke finale.
What a way to finish the night. I sing, so was happy to belt out 'Texas Hold'em' to finish off what was a very pleasant evening.
Everyone in good spirits.
Karaoke sound system pretty good too. 🎤
If your passing you should give this place a go. Really friendly place. The people are happy to chat...but that said they are not intrusive. Good snack at great price
Kym and team do exactly what it says on the tin. Good flavour coffee, at a decent temperature, delicious home made type cakes/traybakes. Very efficient service.
No hesitation in recommending.
Well,,, that was really good. Great food, great beer and great service. Portions are over generous so be prepared for a doggy bag if you can’t resist ordering too may dishes from the extensive menu. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious and always so fresh and tasty. We eat at the market regularly and can't get to try any of the other vendors because Pituma is just so amazing. Incredible chicken souvlaki, haloumi and gorgeous dips all with those sort of delightfully chewy (in a good way!) wraps. And the oregano fries are very addictive, thank you so much! P.S. We visited Ormskirk Market and Pituma beats their Greek offering hands down 😁*****
