The Squirrel Tea Room in Sefton

Lovely quality English breakfast & choice of homemade cakes. Large portions. Excellent value. Chocolate fudge included with tea & coffee, which is a lovely touch. Looks like a husband/wife team. Husband very welcoming & attentive, but wife on the two occasions we have visited was so narky towards her husband, the constant bickering very off putting.

Good choice of sandwiches and cakes. Extremely fresh and good quality bread and fillings, served with side salad, coleslaw (looked homemade) and crisps. De-caf Tea with a piece of fudge lovely. Everything was appetising to look at and tasted great. Will definitely visit again and recommend this Cafe if your in Ainsdale. Quick and prompt service with a smile.

Kym and team do exactly what it says on the tin. Good flavour coffee, at a decent temperature, delicious home made type cakes/traybakes. Very efficient service. No hesitation in recommending.

Great menu with freshly made food. Excellent service. Friendly professional staff. The place is immaculately clean and relaxing. I would recommend.

Often have a cup of tea and cakes from here, all cakes are handmade and always delicious, sandwiches are always lovely too

Thanks for a wonderful afternoon tea for a large party of family and friends. The food was delicious with assorted sandwiches, quiche, delicious homemade scones and lots of other sweet treats. Nothing was too much trouble. We witnessed great kindness towards another customer who felt unwell during our visit too.

I'm not usually one for writing reviews, but we came across the Squirrel Tea Room a couple o months ago and, having eaten there a number of times since, I though they deserved a couple of minutes of my time to write a review. They are a bijou, family run tearooms offering a good selection of excellent food, and their home made cakes are to die for. Service has always been exemplary and reasonably quick, not that I'm in much of a hurry. Do yourself a favour, if you're in Ainsdale, give the Squirrel Tea Room a try, you won't regret it.

Lovely little tea room, very friendly staff (owners?), well worth a visit. I had a cup of tea which was served with a piece of fudge and scrambled eggs on toast. I’ll definitely be back again 😊

positives are friendly staff, water for dog and drinks served quickly, free piece of delicious fudge with coffee which was a nice touch sadly we waited 20 minutes for a sausage barm even though two members of staff and 4 customers inside,no butter on the barm so had to ask for some. Barm a bit dry even with butter and sausage just ok , maybe just a bad day

We were in the local area on a family holiday. Upon arrival the atmosphere seemed nice and friendly, it wasn't too busy, we arrived mid morning on a Friday (18th August). When we made our order they got it wrong, we had to explain what they did wrong and what needed replacing and were given frustrated looks before a half hearted apology. The smoke alarm went off a total of 5 times seemingly due to burnt toast... We waited over an hour for 1 kids breakfast, 3 adult cooked breakfasts and a portion of breakfast pancakes. Regardless of whatever else was going on, this is unacceptable. Bacon was undercooked, sausages were burnt on 2 of the plates and overall the standard of food was low for the price we were paying. We felt we didn't want to complain because the staff there took so long to make the food in the first place and didn't want to wait again for yet more poor quality food. Other customers in the place made more than one remark on the usual speed of the service and seemed unhappy, which didn't exactly boost our confidence. I understand it's an independent business and that they may have been taking takeaway orders at the same time, but the length of the wait and the quality of the food was very disappointing. We chose to avoid spoons and go to an independent place as we like to support small business, but I wouldn't have breakfast there again if you paid me. Since our visit 2 of the family have been sick, one within a few hours of leaving this place. I cannot recommend it.

Oh my god this place is wonderful! Gorgeous food, very friendly, it would be my local cafe if I lived here. Nipped in for a bacon sandwich and cup of tea, we got a free piece of fudge with the tea. Would highly recommend.

This place is so handy before or after a walk on nearby Ainsdale Beach. The welcome was very friendly, without being intrusive. There's a nice range of options on the menu, for a main meal or a snack. We both had jacket potatoes with different toppings - and the plate was beautifully presented with a really good coleslaw and a nicely dressed mixed salad - and I had plenty of cheese. Great coffee, to your taste. Highly recommended.
