Went on Friday night for my birthday treat with my husband. The food was delicious, great choices and very reasonable. The menu was all tempting and we each had three courses, from the A la carte menu and everything was really good. The couple on the table next to us chose dishes from the tapas menu and all their choices looked fantastic as well. Will definitely be back.

This is an absolutely amazing little gem 🌞. We were here on saturday 20th may, around 6 of us sat outside in the sun, the food, drink and service was A*. We have been here on many occasions and the food never fails to amaze! My mum loves the cheese board and was totally gutted it had gone from the menu, when we went in on saturday, they informed her it was on the specials menu, ABSOLUTE BELTER (and a happy mum)!! The cheese board is fantastic, lots of variety, its a must have! We had around 3 tapas dishes each, which are huuge in portion size and only £16 for 3 dishes or £25 for 5 dishes 💗. This place needs to be shouted about more, as the staff can never do enough for you and the food & drink is always perfect. Thank you!

Quite by chance, I found that this little gem of an hotel is open to the public for meals, including lunch ( not Monday or Tuesday) so chose from the extensive tapas menu. Absolutely delicious; reasonably priced, and beautifully presented. Will be back!

Stayed here on way bck from Wales. Room very bright and warm-cdnt turn the radiator down, so had to sleep with the window open. Fan in the toilet was xtremely noisy. Breakfast was very nice-both continental and cooked. The boil your own egg was a novelty-got it right 2nd time.Plenty o eat-all fresh.

We went to the Dukes Folly for a family meal on Sunday 7th August 2022. The food was amazing and staff were great. There were 10 of us in our group and nothing was too much trouble at all. We had 3 courses, some had the Sunday roast, others the tapas. All food was spot on as were the cocktails. I'd definitely recommend the Dukes Folly as a top destination for a meal. The price was really reasonable too, well worth a visit, we'll be back for sure.

We were staying at the other end of town but asked our B&B owner where was good for Sunday lunch. He told us that one of his guests had said it was good at the Dukes Folly. He wasn't wrong, it was lovely. We also had a quick look around the hotel and I think we will book there for our next trip.

My friends and I a group of 8 had a lovely afternoon tea here in the conservatory. The food was a generous assorted amount of sandwiches wraps salad scones cakes all presented on a stand each! Well worth the money of £15 or £19 with prosecco..We then sat outside for our teas. The staff were very attentive always checking on us.We hope to return.

Recently visited for the first time whilst staying nearby in Southport for an evening meal. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the hotel and dining experience was excellent along with great food and very competitive prices for the meal and drinks. This hotel will be top of our list the next time we stay in Southport.

It would appear from the reviews here that people regard The Dukes Folly the same as Marmite. The same goes for my family group who didn't stay at the hotel but just visited for a meal on Saturday 11 December. The restaurant staff were professional and friendly and two of our party of four had no complaints about the food they ordered (my wife loved her sea-bass), but the other two of us who chose the £14.75 beef cheek Beef Bourguignon for their main course were very disappointed with their meal. Far from being “tender” as described in the menu, the meat (if it really was beef cheek) was tough, chewy and under-cooked (it also needed a more generous serving of sauce/gravy), the creamy mashed potatoes were nothing of the sort and were instead lumpy and lukewarm and the honey glazed baby carrots might as well have been raw. To make matters worse my small plate starter of lamb koftas (£4.75!) was probably among the most pitiful things I have been served in a restaurant (all 4 of us laughed out loud when it was served!). Three embarassingly small pieces of meat about the same size and consistency as a pistol bullet; over-cooked and dry as a bone but thankfully served with a small tomato and basil sauce to provide some moisture. Unless you have to/want to eat something gluten free, steer clear of this option is my advice. After passing our complaints to the chef via the waitress, she told us that the chef “apologised”! When she saw the look on my face she offered something else to eat but had already waited long enough for this dish to be prepared, so respectfully declined. The following morning I returned to the hotel to speak to one of the managers to see if there was a good reason why the food had been so disappointing the night before. I was told a manager would contact me later that day to discuss; that nobody did so came as no surprise to me. Any contact that I do get will almost certainly just be because of this review. All in all a sad and sorry personal dining experience. I will definitely not be returning to the hotel to eat and I would advise anyone thinking of eating there to think at least twice before ordering either the koftas or the beef bourguignon. Caveat emptor! You have been warned.

Fancy a cuppa but don't want to be on a busy road? Well this is the place to go. Very handy for Lord Street and very civilised. Clean, welcome and good prices. Nice terraced area with parasols in front of the hotel. Open to non residents.

This is our 2nd visit for Sunday lunch. The food was really good. However the service was very slow this time. We waited an hour for our main after having our starter. We were also sat next to the door. Which on a very cold day in December was not ideal. Every time the door opened there was a cold blast. We were a table of 5 the previous visit it was just 2 of us. So not sure if this is the reason the food took so long. As the Kitchen only looks small.
