One of these extremely rare places where you feel like they've been ripped out of an italia street and placed randomly in England. Cartoccio has everything we value in an independent restaurant. Menu changes daily, with every option we've ever tried being delicious and full of taste. Prices are alway fair and much more competitive that those in bigger italian-themed restaurants, including drinks. Their desserts are to die for as well. Our favourite combination recently was pork cartoccio, one or two pastas, depending on the selection, and ricotta cheesecake. You can't really book it, but it's been working well or us - usually we manage to grab one of the last tables!

Wanted to go here for ages so finally jumped in one Saturday in May when my parents were visiting the city (it's taken me a long time to do this review, but better late than never!). With no booking they were able to seat us quickly and with the warmest welcome. The restaurant is very small and has a lovely atmosphere, very laid back and comfortable. Everything we ordered was delicious and interesting, from the pineapple and fruit punches we started with (surprisingly spicy!) to the starter platter (the mutton is lovely, but quite hot!). For main course we had a selection of jerk chicken strips, rice and peas, festivals and a roti, on the owner's recommendation my dad had the standard jerk whereas my mum and I had a "softened" jerk/BBQ mix, which was the perfect level of spice for us! The tamarind sauce was also delicious on the side of everything! If you haven't had festivals before then I definitely recommend trying them as they were the perfect addition to dip in the sauces, with their slight sweetness off-setting the spice! We couldn't get near finishing everything, but they were more than happy to give us boxes to take away all the leftovers (which did me another delicious meal the next day!). Basically, I cannot rate this place highly enough! Everything we ordered was perfect, the staff were incredibly friendly (mother and daughter, I think) and the atmosphere was fun and friendly, with great music in the background. I can't wait to go back again!

This cafe isn't as good as it used to be since the French chef who managed it left and I'm not sure this cafe is even open anymore when it is in a Buddhist centre and relies on someone reliable who lives there to manage it. However it is in a lovely and peaceful venue and there are toilets nearby to use if needed.

Our party of 4 dined here on Monday afternoon - sat outside in the warm Spring sunshine. Great! Friendly and attentive staff. Great menu with plenty of choice. We all had a different main - Good portion size, well presented, fresh & colourful... My Fish Stew was amazing, served with a side salad. Lovely atmosphere - Our first visit to Lark Lane and La Gomera, and it won't be our last. Looking forward to our next visit already!! See you soon!!!
