I had the pleasure of eating in this gem of a restaurant! The hospitality was first class. The oxtail and rice and peas was authentically seasoned some real Jamaican food. My new go to!

Wanted to go here for ages so finally jumped in one Saturday in May when my parents were visiting the city (it's taken me a long time to do this review, but better late than never!). With no booking they were able to seat us quickly and with the warmest welcome. The restaurant is very small and has a lovely atmosphere, very laid back and comfortable. Everything we ordered was delicious and interesting, from the pineapple and fruit punches we started with (surprisingly spicy!) to the starter platter (the mutton is lovely, but quite hot!). For main course we had a selection of jerk chicken strips, rice and peas, festivals and a roti, on the owner's recommendation my dad had the standard jerk whereas my mum and I had a "softened" jerk/BBQ mix, which was the perfect level of spice for us! The tamarind sauce was also delicious on the side of everything! If you haven't had festivals before then I definitely recommend trying them as they were the perfect addition to dip in the sauces, with their slight sweetness off-setting the spice! We couldn't get near finishing everything, but they were more than happy to give us boxes to take away all the leftovers (which did me another delicious meal the next day!). Basically, I cannot rate this place highly enough! Everything we ordered was perfect, the staff were incredibly friendly (mother and daughter, I think) and the atmosphere was fun and friendly, with great music in the background. I can't wait to go back again!

I ordered a takeaway for a family birthday...what can I say. The Curry Goat was amazing, so much goat!!! The rice and pea and festival dumplings, just delicious. Having lived in the Carribbean for a few years, this is the most authentic tasting food you will get in Liverpool and the surrounding area. I travelled 25 mins from Runcorn to collect, no need to heat it up when I got home, straight to the table and we delved in!! The service was fab too..I am telling anyone who listens to go try you guys out.... You have a new family who lives your food and we will definitely be visiting you guys again... Thank you ☺️

We tried this fabulous little restaurant for the first time tonight, and we were blown away by how good it is. We had the starter combo for two, followed by the oxtail with broad beans, the jackfruit with plantain, and the seasoned fries. The food is unbelievable, so flavourful and unctuous and perfectly seasoned. The menu is small (which is actually preferred by us, as large menus can make it impossible to make a choice!) but has plenty of options to suit a variety of tastes and dietary requirements, including spicy and non-spicy options. I also tried a passion fruit daiquiris - which was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and our host, Andrea, was welcoming and warm. We finished the meal with a bowl of the homemade rum and raisin ice cream. It was creamy and rich, with huge, juicy rum-soaked raisins - and considering I thought I didn’t like rum and raisin ice cream, it made a convert out of me. We can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu, and even though I left feeling totally satisfied, my mouth is still watering at the memory of the oxtail. Give Lark Lane a miss and head a little further down Aigburth Road to Mahoe Blue instead - you won’t regret it.

So my first time hear, so before I started I am a fussy eater, and I could not abide by greasy food. So let me begin, I ordered 2 jerk chicken fillets, 1 saltfish aki, 2 portions of festivals, 2 plain rice, all our mains. Just me and my son Jay, my other son Aniice ordered curry goat, and peas and rice, we got chicken wings bbq as a starter and Curry goad skewers, and believe me the food was absolutely to die for, first of all, I was worried over the festivals being greasy but the beautiful waitress reasured me "no there fine" and so right she was, the salt fish aki just melts in your mouth, so full of flavour not to hot just right. The curry goat was dropping off the fork as it should be, so soft and tender and very flavoursome, spices all right not to much not to little just right. The jerk chicken breast must of been a large one because I ended up bringing some food home lol, was beautifully flavoured again not to much of anything just right for all pallets, and the curry goat skewers again where so beautiful. The food when it comes looks like small portions but oh no there is more than enough in them small pots, well there not really small they just look that way to me the food is served in a dish that looks like a coconut shell. But more than enough believe me, now I'm told the lady cooking the food is using family recipes that have been handed down throw the ages. Pure sole food cooked with love, and great for these cold winter nights. Beautiful food if I could give this place a 10-star review then hear it is. Value for money food portions very generous and service so nice, atmosphere relaxing, lovely music and relaxing even though I wanted to get up and dance and they served alcoholic drinks also but I didn't drink but they looked lovely. The place is clean and warm and so welcoming. The best time to go is thrown the week I went tonight Friday 20 October 2923, just off the cuff. I was there when they open the door, they had a booking of 8 which took up all tables on the lower floor, there is a side bench with seating for 4 more people and then by the till there is a table for 2 and opposite another table for two and a wall bench for 4. It's best to book at weekends as very busy, but if you have to wait it's worth it. My new Jamaican restaurant, it small family run and lovely. Thank you to all the staff and my compliments to the chief.

If, like me, you’re not lucky enough to have a Jamaican grandmother who cooks up a storm when you visit, you can pay a decent price for the experience at Mahoe Blue. The jerk chicken, oxtail, plantain, rice and peas were all super tasty and served up by friendly staff to a top notch soundtrack. This is the best Jamaican food restaurant I've been to so far in Liverpool. The jerk chicken and curry goat were full of flavour and cooked to be perfectly tender and moist. Seems like a family run restaurant, and the girl serving us was super friendly and efficient. Slightly odd experience in that we ordered a second portion of one of the mains as the first seemed quite small, but then the second portion that came out was a lot bigger. Maybe they'd sensed that we thought the first wasn't enough, but either way, I was happy, and the food is so well priced that we didn't feel hard done by for it. Also, the rum punch was tasty and strong, but for the price, a bigger glass of it rather than a small tumbler would be good. Overall, for 3 mains, 2 starters, 2 sides, 2 cocktails, 1 spirit mixer and a beer, I think £66 was great value for money. I'll be back and I'll be bringing friends, as I loved it. It's difficult to find a good Jamaican place to eat, so glad we've discovered this one. Probs don't need to go anywhere else now!

Asked for portion of steak veg said can’t have it unless order meal that comes with it and portion of plantain. Paid total was £53. She said be 20mins so waited 15mins then said got chef down so be 1hour so went sat in car. Rang me at 8.10 said have no plaintain give give me a £3.50 refund. Went back in 8.45 girl then said to me have no festivals unless wanted to wait 30mins to do batter mix said forget it just give me money back. Eventually left at 9.05pm as soon got out takeaway my daughter Rang me pick her up, so she had 3 course meal with drinks in restaurant and still waiting for mine. We are sitting here with a rum and coke, after having the curry goat and the jerk chicken. We also had the fries and okra. Absolutely no complaints. The food was lovely. But what makes this place place is the people that work here. Jasmine, who served, was so friendly, and Andrea came over to ask how our food was. Come and support this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. The food is gorgeous 👍

Wonderful restaurant on Aigburth Road. Jerk chicken was fantastic. Service was really friendly. Great atmosphere and my friend said best curry goat she’s ever had. Try the Stamp & Go. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely friendly staff and delicious food. Best curried goat I have tasted. We thought the prices were very reasonable. Really hope this place takes off because we want to keep coming back.

What an absolute delight of a restaurant this is ! We came to buy a sofa near by and stopped just to have breakfast, nicely surprised by the service and especially the food . Everything was delicious and nothing was too much to ask from the staff . We’ll definitely come back . Thank you
