This place will take some beating, never ever had a bad meal.
Staff lovely as always and portion sizes are huge.
I used to go here 15 / 16 years ago and its always been great.
This was a great little Pub we happened upon during our visit to Macclesfield. Stopped in for a few drinks before continuing our walk about.
Even returned again after our walk. Very local atmosphere. Good pints and ciders. It was a Sunday but unfortunately no food available. Locals very welcoming.
We have visited WFS on countless occasions with friends, with family and also as a couple and I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience.
The food is always fantastic (especially the dough balls - a must try) and we are always amazed at how cheap the bill is at the end of the meal.
I’m absolutely amazed at people reviewing on here saying it is expensive. Reviewers complaining about a coke costing £2.50. You will struggle to find many pubs or restaurants where you can get a coke for less than that nowadays! Believe it or not, small business’s need to actually make a profit in order to keep their doors open too.
You can take you own alcohol, which is great. I’ve seen people again complaining about the corkage charge of £2.50, which I also don’t understand. You get to take a bottle of wine, which you would get charged £30-40 for in another restaurant, but only pay £2.50. I think that’s great value.
The staff are great and although there is a service charge on the bill, the staff usually point it out and ask if you are happy to pay it. We have never done this however. We’ve never had need to.
I can definitely recommend this restaurant. The pizzas are great, it’s good value and if you want a relaxed, casual dining experience, then you can’t go wrong!
Extremely disappointing experience at this pub on Saturday 1st June. Having booked for 4 people 2 weeks previous to tie in with our visit to the Clonter Opera we were really looking forward to it. However on the evening we were greeted with a sheet menu with very little choice. Apparently they were closing on the Sunday for building work and that’s why the menu was spartan. Well we just had one dreary course which was not particularly special. Two of us had 2 starters as the mains were so limited there was nothing they liked. It was too late to go elsewhere.
The owner should really have telephoned us a week before and explained the situation giving us time to book elsewhere. Very poor.
My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago and liked it so much that we decided to book again for my birthday, which was yesterday.
So we make the 20 mile journey only to find the place is closed and has been for a few weeks, pretty much after we made the booking. To make matters worse was the attitude of the person inside who was pretty much laughing at the fact that no-one had bothered to cancel the booking and just shrugged his shoulders. So much for a nice birthday meal.
Really disappointed in the lack of common courtesy.
Gave it more than one star as a previous meal there was really nice.
Should have checked my order before I left - both coleslaw and beetroot missed out - made for a very pitiful salad box. Had high hopes as the menu looked good, maybe the pies and cakes are worth it.
