We visited for Sunday lunch - a group of 20 who had pre-booked and pre-ordered. Our server was clearly new, and had been left almost on her own to wait on our table - a really crummy move by the pub management. The table had been booked for 1pm, and while a few on the table had starters, it was around 2pm by the time mains were served. In addition, the two steaks ordered were overcooked, and one of the children's meals - the pizza - was nearly black. One steak was sent back, and then the same steak was brought back!? The pizza was replaced, but not great quality control that it was sent out in the first place. We all felt bad that the inexperienced server had to deal with these issues. The meals otherwise seemed to be well received, but general consensus was that it was overpriced. Won't be returning.

My wife and I have just returned from Sunday lunch at the Peacock and were very disappointed. Our starter of Prawn cocktail, to be fair, was quite good but both our main courses were poor. My Pork belly was very dry with a pile of overcooked veg and tasteless" baby"( not new) potatoes rather than roast potatoes listed on the menu. My Wife's seabass was also dry and tastless. As a customer of the Peacock over several years on and off I won't be going there again for some time until I hear their food has improved.

Rump steak is a no go dish we asked for medium rare and was tough and really difficult to eat. Rest of the food was fine

Lovely service every time we go! Recently went for my partners birthday meal. Service was great and the food was delicious with lots of choice available. Will definitely be going back!

Had a lovely time, had a lovely server called Katherine, who was extremely helpful and patient, helped me to understand each dish and made sure it was something I would like. Food was brilliant too and staff were so lovely!

Three of us went for a meal and two meals were sent back because of undercooked chicken. The waitress tried to argue that it was cooked but it was definitely pink in both cases. The manager was very nice, sorted us out with something else and we weren't charged. Manager marvellous, staff need training in customer service 👎

The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were very friendly and polite. The food was very yummy and was also presented very well. Service was quite quick. I really enjoyed my visit here and would 100% recommend to everyone. I had the chicken avocado salad and the sticky toffee pudding which were very scrumptious. :)

Amazing food , so impressed , quick delivery

Greeted with a smile, food was to us very fast and looked as if it was put on our plates by an artist rather than a Chef. Children's portion pretty much the same as an adults.

I recently celebrated my birthday here with a couple of friends. We were served by Tina who was very lovely and helpful, we are all vegan and decided to order the Greens and Grains salad the Arancini from the starters menu on top! The food was delicious, we all really enjoyed it! When we expressed how pleased we were with it, we were told our chef was Gugu and the custom arrangement of our meals was done by Katie. Really friendly atmosphere and they are happy to cater to requests. I had also brought along a vegan birthday cake which was brought out after our meal with candles on. Lovely experience, will be back again!

We had been told by a local lady, that the food wasn't very nice at the Peacock Inn, but after travelling a long distance through the day from South Wales we apprehensivly decided to have a meal at the Peacock, firstly we were impressed by the handsome looking building, then we were impressed by the staff, service and the decor, then we were very impressed by our tasty meals (Seabass,, Curry,, Lemon Tart,, Sorbet) one of the best meals we've had, we later saw that lady and told her the food was amazing and highly recommended.. We had an end of football season meal out with a large group of adults and children and were highly satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Thank you Peacock! 🦚

Myself and 2 friends went for lunch today. We all ordered the chicken and avocado salad because it sounded delicious. When the meals arrived, one had a very obvious raw patch on one chicken piece, mine had a dubious looking area, obviously needed another minute. I opted for another salad but when it arrived the chicken was dry, and the ciabatta was burnt black. Yet another complaint! One particular member of staff was extremely rude but the manager was lovely. No charge for our drinks but we won't go back!

Definitely come again to maybe try lunch or dinner maybe but breakfast was very nice cooked really good by chefs rod and Freddie I think chloe said they even twicked menu just a little for on of my kids as slightly picky eating wise And would like to thank chloe for such a warming happy service always smiled and friendly

Had a lovely meal this lunch time the food was just amazing and want to say a thank you to the chefs josh and james as nothing was to diffult with the little confusion on the food but still was amazing The service by chloe was amazing start to finish nothing was to to hard or any problem and was super friendly and happy

Came in yesterday with some friends and we were served by Katie P. The food was delicious, we went for burgers and they were really nice! Katie P was great too, she was very attentive and gave us a great service. I definitely would recommend going !

Nice meal again… no disappointment here and even though it was busy, we were served promptly and Heidi was attentive throughout. 2 x gammons steaks with egg chips and peas. Cooked to perfection by Rod and daughter Heidi waited on us, checking everything was okay with our food and getting us condiments, drinks etc. we used a discount voucher, so our meals cost £10 each making it good value for money and affordable. We had a lovely evening. Thankyou Rod and Heidi for looking after us again. See you again very soon!

Enjoyed the food,un expect visit

Staying at Premier next door, had been working/travelling since about 5 in the morning. What a lovely surprise to come across such a wonderful establishment. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks, cozy corners all encouraged me to have the extra drink I probably shouldn't have. The menu was interesting in that if I said I had a duck & hoisin sauce pizza for the first time in my life & that I think you should as well. Got to love a twist in tradition. I sat in the bar area but there looked to be a fairly busy restaurant area as well. I'd highly recommend a visit.

Nice meal again. Tasted good and was well presented. We had a sea bass and a sirloin steak. Steak was cooked by chef Rod, medium-well as requested. We are regulars and we always take advantage of the 40% off offers on the vintage inn app. Tina our server is always very polite and attentive. She is a credit to the team. Thankyou for another lovely meal.

My experience at The Peacock Inn was disappointing for several reasons. The food was served cold, my beer order was incorrect, and when I requested a caramel latte, I was told it wasn't available. The waitstaff seemed indifferent and didn't bother to clear the table, leaving glasses and plates unattended. (Specifically, 7 glasses and 4 plates.) These service issues negatively impacted my experience, and I'm not sure if I'll return in the future.

Had a lovely meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had not been for a long time but we were given a gift card so decided on the Peacock. The food was lovely and so was the atmosphere. Our waitress Lilia was really friendly, polite and helpful. Thank you Lilia. We will definitely visit again.

Food came on time but was just about warm, the taste was still good though. The pizza wasn’t cut so had to do that before we could eat. I wanted to really like this but was just a bit disappointed

Food was lovely. Staff polite and friendly. We had several rounds of hot and alcoholic drinks. After ordering our first round of alcoholic drinks the staff remembered our order in later rounds. This was impressive as we all had different requests ie no ice, no slice etc

Has the premise of a good restaurant but staff let it down. Went on Monday night, one lad serving customers at the bar and another young lad staring at a laptop and failed to even acknowledge us. After I said "shall we just pick a table" he decided to show us up. It took about 5-10 minutes before our drink order was taken and when there ae 6 people dining this isn't great. I think the main server was Nick/Mark (sorry of I got your name wrong) he was really pleasant and only person to show any service standards. The food was hot and came out quickly, sides are a good size for £3 each. Desserts a lot of promise but just to heavy on the chocolate sauce. Dishes were left on the table for a long time. Then asked if we would leave a 5 star review whilst we were stood over. No thank you. Decor is really nice and easy parking! It's always the same, when you are paying these prices, the food is good but service needs to improve.

Although from the north, we live in Devon, and are up for a canal holiday. The Peacock is next to a premier inn so ideal stop. Food was good. Katie H was spot on. Friendly. Chatty. Efficient. Really top waitress. Other staff we met and spoke to explained recent changes. We enjoyed the meal and the venue and would visit again if we were here.

Waited over 1hr for breakfast and it didn’t show up. Forced to get a refund and leave. If you can’t keep up with the number of orders, please tell your customers in future so that they can go elsewhere.

Always a great experience. Food is great quality and good portions. Staff are always friendly and was recently served by Katie H who was lovely. Best roast I’ve had in the area (pork belly was incredible!) so compliments to GuGu and Jess!

Not sure about anything at the restaurant as I'd thought I'd booked breakfast for two, at 10am, over the telephone two days before only to find it closed when we arrived. The manager did come out to us and explained that they didn't open until 11am. I explained that I had called and booked, but he seemed to be as confused as me. I asked if there was anywhere else we could go for breakfast as we were visiting the area, he said he didn't know anywhere. I said that it wasn't very helpful and he just dismissed us. I guess he didn't want to discuss it any further.

Great food. Great service. We were able to take a dog which was a great bonus 😊

I came in this evening,18/4/24, with a couple of friends and Fraser was our server. He was very attentive from the start of our meal to the finish and was very polite. The food was excellent and I would definitely go again and recommend the Peacock. Thank you Fraser, will recommend you too!!!!

Lovely food, friendly and efficient staff. It was busy but we weren't kept waiting for our food. Everything we had was delicious.

Appalling. We arrived to be told food would take between 30-45 minutes to arrive, After sitting at our table for 20 minutes, no drinks order was taken, let alone food order. ALL diners around us were complaining that either food had not arrived, or their order had not been taken at all. We left.

We had a lovely lunch. The staff were friendly. The website did not state that brunch stopped at 11.30 or we would have arrived earlier, but we did enjoy our early lunch.

I would have liked to give 5 stars but on the sweet course the custard came cold, other than that the service was very good. The food we all had was very good except for the custard, this came cold on all four sweets pity as we were all enjoying our first time at this pub.

Hadn’t visited this place for years and wasn’t sure what to expect but the whole experience was great. Service was perfect, food was delicious and served timely and hot. The pricing was good for the quality provided. The atmosphere was good though it was a quiet period when I dined. Would recommend and will return in future.

We were at a funeral. Not enough food

Ordered food at the peacock online due to a member of our party being unable to leave the house. After 2 hours of no delivery I decided to ring the restraunt to which I was lied to throughout the call by multiple staff. They claimed that a man collected the delivery then they told me a woman collected it. The made an error and couldn't own up their fault. We spent over £100 on this order and they claimed there was nothing they could do about it. Terrible service. Could barley get an apology

Meals were well presented and tasty, service was efficient and timely. Drinks were good quality if a little expensive. Discount code on mains was used which made the overall price good value.

Well, the new manager is fantastic! Ryan has done a wonderful job in turning this boozer around! I went for lunch and everything was just spot on. I will definitely be returning as I haven't wanted to due to previous management but now you'll be lucky if you don't see me on a day! Thanks for doing a great job and bringing this beautiful pub back to life!

I took my wife here for a meal and a drink or two on the way home from work. Ryan greeted us at the bar, he was very attentive and polite, really nice guy. We were then served by Katie P who couldn’t do enough for us and helped my wife choose from the menu. Highly recommend this place 😄

Great welcome, great food, great music - perfect ☺ Room was very clean, and located around the back of the hotel, so even quieter than expected! Atmosphere in the restaurant was great, and the staff at both the restaurant and hotel were very friendly and welcoming, as usual ☺

Had a beautiful Sunday roast today. Served by Katie H and overheard the chefs name as Fred i believe. May be completely wrong. Honestly can't fault the food. Mushrooms were delicious and my beef was tasty and melt in mouth. If only you had roasts on other days too. 🤤🤣 The pub has a beautiful atmosphere very relaxed and every person including staff seemed happy and content. Thank you so much .

We hadn’t been here for two years and we had an offer on the app which was £20 for a £40 spend so we decided to grab something to eat on a Friday night. As we entered there were no signs to say ‘wait here to be seated’ and no one to great us so we decided to find our own table. As we sat down a women came from behind the bar and seemed a bit annoyed that we found our own table and said we should have waited for someone to seat us even though there was no one to great us at the door and it’s wasn’t particularly busy so we just assumed you could pick your own table. She asked us if we wanted to order drinks, I asked for an old mout cider as that is what I had last time I came to the Peacock and she corrected me in a patronising manner that they only had rekorderlig which was fine, I just didn’t like her tone and service during the rest of the night. Another lady who was a bit older did serve us as well and I will say her customer service was a lot better. We also were unable to use the app as apparently it takes 24 hours for the code to work even though the QR code showed up on my phone but we were hungry so we decided to stay anyway. We ordered pizza with a side of halloumi Fries. We expected the pizza to be large considering the price however when it arrived the pizza was very small and mine was very oily. The Halloumi fries were also overcooked. Overall I wasn’t impressed with the service and food, especially since it cost £40 for the drinks and food and it felt very overpriced for the portions that we received. Will only come back here to use our voucher since we weren’t able to use it on this visit!!
