Truelly awful. From when we first went in it was obvious they were too busy for the amount of staff. 1 male on the bar taking drinks orders and seating people for meals. We were told they didnt nnkw if there was a table even though i had booked a week befpre. If you are running a 50% off mains offer it's obvious it is going to be busy on a Friday night. We were seated at the back on a round table which was by the door ans absolutely freezing. I couldn't ask to move as we had already been informed they were chocabloc for bookings. There were no other tables that could accommodate the 4 of us. We were told there were no pizzas left and only one steak left. Again surely you would be expecting it busy with the offer on so why not get more stock of these? Service was awful. Inhad to ask for a steak knife. Asked for sauces , they didn't arrive at the table until I had finished my main. No staff available to flag down to chase it up. The steak was cooked rare with blood when I asked for medium to well done. Again no staff member came anywhere near our table to tell them about this. My husband ended up eating it. I counted in total 6 chips to accompany it. I was left hungry. We all had to ordered pudding and these were all OK however no spoons so had to ask for these. One of the brownies was forgotten and all 3 of us had finished ours by the time it arrived. The table was not cleared of dishes at all. To top off a terrible experience, I was already freezing from where we were sat and when I went to the toilet to use the hand dryer it blew out cold air. I came for the opening night and the service and food was impeccable and I did state on my review I hoped this would continue. Clearly it has not. Why run an offer on food when you cannot provide the food or amount of staff to deal with it? Will not ever return. Spent over £100 for a terrible experience with my family.

Food great, whoever they got in now really knows what they are doing. Meal for a family of four and the refurb has made a difference. My complaint is that the place is cold especially in the top area by the big round table. It's always been cold as the glazing is poor up there. Previous owners solved this by butting a discrete heater on the ceiling joist. Simple solve tbh.

Food good but service not brilliant 😒

We went to The Peacock (11th Jan) for my Nephew’s birthday, when we arrived it was very busy, a wedding and a 70th birthday already in full swing… Our table was a little late but considering how busy it was we were seated swiftly with a complementary drink, the service was slightly slower but again under the circumstances again we didn’t wait too long, we were offered free starters. All our meals were great, we spoke to some of the wedding party who had had a great time. Thank you to Louise and staff who kept us informed of how long the food would be and was apologetic but the atmosphere was great and it was nice to see the pub so busy! We all think you are doing a great job and will definitely be back! Thank you Louise and staff 😊 customer service was spot on!

Chef with ginger hair was amazing

The menu is lovely, some of the best scallops I’ve ever had, and the steak was cooked wonderfully. I think the server I had was Lou, or Lucy (I’m terrible with names) but they were an absolute delight. The space was wonderful, I have several friends who are interior designers (Auburn Fox - they have some lovely pieces!) and I could tell that the interior was finished to a high standard. Would definitely return and would recommend!

The venue was nice and clean, the service was as good as a Toby carvery (nothing special) and the food was a let down. Over all value for money was poor. I had the signature lamb kebab. It was dry and overcooked. I would not call it signature if it was my restaurant. (See pic) My son had peas with his kids meal which were dry and stale like cardboard, and any good chef would not have dared send them out. Either not fresh or overcooked. (See pic) Relatives had the pie which they said was nice, but believed the mash potato to be instant mash. The menu was great for knowing calories but non of them on our 5 tables had prices for many items (See pic). Why a menu wouldn't show a price is beyond me, but when I was charged £2.40 for a class of soda and lime I wasn't surprised they aren't transparent. At no point during our meal did the service staff ask if it was ok, or proactively come round asking for drinks etc. Perhaps it's not table service as everything was ordered and paid for at the bar. When I questioned the price of soda the staff also agreed it was expensive. And finally when asking why prices were missing off most of the menu, the staff member asked me what I wanted (a coffee) and produced a piece of paper with prices not readily available. Personally I would not recommend it as the value for money was poor. If it was £10 a main then perhaps ok, but if I want a nice meal for £18 a main I would go elsewhere.

We frequented this establishment twice in one weekend, both times at 10am for the Brunch service. The first time we were the 4th of 4 tables - service was slow and no one greeted us for 5 minutes, we were stood standing near the bar without any interaction from staff. The young lad tried his best but it seemed he was struggling with the ordering system, could we perhaps suggest more training for staff. On the Sunday morning staff were struggling due to a delivery not showing up. At one point there were 4 members of waiting staff stood by the coffee machine debating how to make a decaf latte. The manager was clearly stressed, which is understandbale and incredibly apologetic and polite. The waiting staff had no sense of purpose, no interaction with customers and left multiple tables uncleared. It took 25 minutes for 3 hot drinks. Other tables were left waiting an hour for beans on toast. Constructively it may be worth offering further training to the brunch shift staff as some members were on both times we visited and worked at less than a glacial pace, it started off being funny but ended up being incredibly frustrating to observe.

Visited twice this weekend for brunch service. Our first visit, we put down as a slow day. However our second visit confirmed the need for staff training. 1st visit - we walked in to a gorgeous establishment, absolutely stunning decor, cosy and inviting. There were 4 members of staff, one said 'hello' and we asked for a table (10ish am) place is empty apart from 2 other tables, she replied 'one minute' and walked off. We waited a further 2/3 minutes till another member of staff came to seat us. The service was very slow, we put it down to new starters - the young lad who was serving seemed unsure of the iPad, however he was polite and we could tell he was trying, so we forgave the pace. There seemed to be no manager presence. We watched as 2 members of staff carried single cups and saucers to clear tables, and made 4/5 trips to said table over the course of 15 minutes. Constructively speaking- this was a 2-3 minute job at most, grab a tray, take the spray and cloth, load the tray, wipe down the table and remove the pots to the kitchen. It felt like the staff members were making the job harder than it needed to be. However the food was lovely, so we thought 'we'll give it a go tomorrow and hope for the best!' 2nd visit- Brunch service (10ish am again) hoping for better, but it was unfortunately a shocker. We were greeted by the manager who informed us the delivery had not arrived, and listed the items that were not on the menu. Thats absolutely fine. We decided to just have coffee instead. The manager was dealing with the kitchen, clearly busy and visibly stressed. Fair enough. We took a seat, and watched as 2 members of staff stood. Literally stood. At one point there were 4 waiters stood at the coffee station discussing how to make a decaf latte. 10 minutes go by and the manager had to ask a waitress to take our order. More guests arrived and once again, there's noone to greet, infact staff seemed to actively ignore them and walk away from them. No acknowledgement. The manager again, had to ask a member of staff to clear a table she was stood infront of. We waited 25 minutes for 3 coffees- with all staff moving at a glacial pace, and as more guests arrived to not be greeted or welcomed we could see other tables growing more frustrated. There was no one on the bar for majority of this time. We watched as a staff member went to the bar (where people were waiting) shuffle some paper, straighten the tray and then walk away - to stand. The table who ordered after us, asked for their coffees after waiting close to 40 minutes- they were met with 'they're coming' but again, no sense of purpose or urgency. It was at this point a guest asked for an ETA on her breakfast because she had been waiting an hour for beans on toast. This is where we had to get up and leave, because I couldn't keep watching in frustration- as someone who works in the industry I felt like grabbing an apron and doing the job myself throughout the visit. The staff were not trained, and the basics were not covered. Greeting guests, communication and clearing tables is bare minimum. And unfortunately, without direct instruction from the manager the staff were unable, unwilling or didn't know how to do this.

The food was generally of a very high standard, but some items weren't very hot. Serving staff were doing their best, and were friendly and obliging, but it was clear they were overstretched even though the place was far from full. We had a long wait for our order to be taken, and food generally arrived in a haphazard way. For example, two guests ordered skewer dishes, the skewered items arrived first, but the accompaniments came last, several minutes later. Even then, everyone had to wait for cutlery to be sorted out. By that time, much of the food was lukewarm.

Met some friends for breakfast however we were just having drinks. Ordered 2 hot drinks and 2 cold drinks. After 50 minutes they had still not arrived despite complaining numerous times and being told ours were just being made. The manager then came over to say that our order hadn't come through, apologised and said it was nothing personal (never thought it was!). We then gave up and left. We live very local and were looking forward to seeing the new refurbishment, however it seems the poor service has continued and we will not be returning when there are so many better establishments in town.

Had both an evening meal and breakfast both were delicious and we had very good service. Thank you to all the staff 🙏

We’ve just had a Christmas Eve meal here at the refurbished Peacock! Couldn’t fault it in anyway. We’ve been before and enjoyed it immensely then and I’m glad to say it’s still as good. Nothing was too much trouble for the brilliant staff. A definite ten out of ten all round and totally recommended!

Just had our Christmas Eve meal here after lots of recommendations and it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed! The restaurant was packed out, but the service was absolutely on point. All of the staff were so friendly and efficient, making sure we were always happy with drinks and food - very attentive! The food was so great, flavours were spot on and we didn’t have to wait too long either despite the busyness. We will definitely be coming back in the new year!

I love the improvements made. The ambience is warm and inviting as were the staff . We Love the menu although a little on the steep side, the Food was fantastic, apart from the veg and roast potato accompanying seemed to be over microwaved and the potatoes were luke warm and un crispy. However the beef , Yorkshire pudding and gravy were to die for. ... and the very friendly waitress guaranteed that we'd be impressed by the desert menu. She wasn't wrong! Although I loved my apple and mincemeat crumble and Custard. The crumble was so crisp and freshly baked. I do admit to having Pudd envy when my partners pavlova came out. Wow ...Full marks to the staff ..

Warm welcome as soon as we walked in they sorted our area out as we booked as a big group for adults and children could not do enough for us. We would recommend this place to anyone! Our Girls play for the local Nantwich football team and we will be coming back here when we play our home games for drinks and food. And to top it off we all love that it’s a dog friendly establishment also.

Absolutely loved our visit today, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff make you feel so welcome. They’ve accommodated so well for our large group of adults and children. Myself and my partner visited and decided to go for the festive menu. We’ve not been before as we’ve only recently heard about the Peacock but we’ll be back again in the near future. The atmosphere warm and food to a very good standard. I particularly loved the Morrocan-spiced chicken breast skewer

This has now changed hands and the decor has been updated. The pub is lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming. I've heard good things about the food under the new owners and look forward to trying that sometime. It would definitely get more stars if they improved the beer offerings further. Neck Oil on draft is an improvement but only having one cask ale and it being Doombar is a shame. Paying I noticed Thornbridge beer mates and excitedly asked if they plan to get cask ale. At present they only have bottles of Jaipur. Increasing the range and having key keg or cask from brewies such as Thornbridge would hugely elevate the beer offerings and star rating for me personally. Big steps in the right direction, fingers crossed it keeps moving that way. Previous reviews: Nice pub, very friendly and helpful staff, shame some of the ales were off and the choice was a little limited. Nice venue tho Returned here between Christmas and New Year, not a single one of the 5 cask taps were on, very poor for a pub not to have beer. I see from my last review this isn't an isolated incident either, so I have lowered my star rating considerably to reflect this. A real shame as a potentially lovely venue, but I couldn't recommend this to anyone at the moment unfortunately.

Had a lovely birthday family meal, good food, good company, nice atmosphere and great service by Steph and Co. The configuration of the place is exactly the same but everything has been updated and looks really nice and welcoming. The toilets have also been completely refurbished and are so much better. A lovely experience, so much so I’m going back tomorrow with friends for Xmas drinks 😊🎄

I have recently moved into the area and since the pub looks so lovely from the outside, I decided to give it a go (07.12.24). Unfortunately, I couldn't be more disappointed. First impressions were good, but I'm still a little bit confused about the pub/restaurant situation. Me and my partner walked towards what was deemed the restaurant area and were shouted and told we couldn't sit in there. It looked quite full to be fair, but I'm wondering if it's a separate entity ? Maybe with better food.. Anyway, we were informed that food would be an hour wait. No problem. The food itself was premium price. Therefore, I expected premium quality. I was disappointed to see that the chicken burger looked to have been bought from Iceland, and the bun, from a pack of 4 Warburtons buns. I got the chicken skewer with a beetroot wrap and salad. Saddest salad I've ever seen and the flavour of the chicken was just bland. On top of that, the food was served with no cutlery. When we asked for sauce, the waiting staff never returned, not even to check how things were with the meal. I really regret not complaining when I was there. However, I'd had a large glass of wine and didn't finish my food so I was feeling a little bit too drunk to broach the situation. The wine was nice. But that's really all this place is good for. I won't be returning for food.

The way the food was packaged today was very disappointing in terms of customer service.

Had a beautiful meal on Sunday cooked by non other than the Head Chef. Honestly can't fault the food. Mushrooms were delicious and my beef was tasty and melt in mouth. The pub has a beautiful atmosphere very relaxed and every person including staff seemed happy and content. Thank you so much .

Not good at all. Our Christmas dinner was spoiled by poor, slow service and lack of attention. Nothing was cleared, no one asked us if we wanted a drink, we had to ask 3 times when our dinner was coming, and we ran out of time for a dessert after being there over 3 hours. I have never had such an experience, which was made worse by a complacent attitude to our complaint, which seemed inevitable rather than a shock.

Tasty food, they arranged a special table for us, definitely a cut above the usual Premier Inn attached restaurant, we've been many times and the recent refurbishment is very good.
