I love this place with my entire heart, it's my favourite in Sandbach. The food is always delicious and staff members are lovely. The atmosphere inside Old Hall is something unreal, as a non-British person I feel like in a movie every time I visit. The only little thing i would suggest adding is lactose free or alternative milk.

Really picturesque set in lovely gardens at front and oldy worldly inside. Food was really tasty. Was very busy for a Tuesday lunch time. I just wish the staff wouldn't wear jeans as I think.it looks a little unprofessional.

Stopped off during a roadtrip and gosh, it did not disappoint. Ordered the mixed Sunday roast and it was exquisite. Highly recommend. Ladies bathroom is also something to gasp at. Do visit this beautiful establishment- you will be glad you did.

Lovely food and building, staff mostly awesome except one female who embarrassed us in front of other guests, loudly telling me to put my elderly disabled dog on a lead. Dog was sat still by the way. Would not return here nor recommend as she ruined it.

Beautiful old building with super outdoor seating with sails cover from the midday sun. Staff were very attentive. Had a cheeky white wine spritzer. Food was ok, I had a mushroom burger, perhaps the wrong choice as it was not very tasty. I was expecting a larger mushroom but instead got slices of mushroom that was deep fried in batter. Definitely will go back and try something else on the menu. Beautiful sunny day so that helped!

Busy but managed to fit us in but by the outside door, cold until a member of staff closed it. Food quickly served, very tasty. Asked for a coffee, didn't arrive for some time but eventually sorted. Friendly service throughout the meal.

Great venue, good cuisine . Service very slow . Chairs very unsupportive for folks with spinal issues and which became very difficult due to said slow service.

This wonderful medieval Inn is worth a visit to Sandbach alone! But even better, the staff is friendly and the food partly amazing. Try the wonderful burrata! The original gazpacho panna cotta was not ideally paired with an equally intense pesto, but still good. Don’t miss it and take enough time to see the unique Sandbach Crosses and the historic cemetery across the street.

Nice to nip in for a pint or two and I believe the food is good though I haven't eaten there. It is a bit pricey though!

We came in on Monday afternoon for a small family celebration and was very well looked after by a wonderful young lady. I’m afraid I didn’t get her name, she was very accommodating and the service was top tier. A lovely love to visit.

An absolute gem just off the M6...we found it many years ago when looking for an alternative to Sandbach services on the way home and we now regularly stop off as it's just excellent and so quirky and interesting in such a pretty town. food and service excellent and you can even take dogs in , highly recommended

Visited for the first time to meet family. Great atmosphere from the moment we walked through the door. Staff very helpful and efficient. Food was presented well and delicious. Well worth the 50 minute drive to get there.

This is the first restaurant I have been in where you order a second and third coffee and each time you get a little biscuit with the drink. A nice old building.

Lovely little pub in the centre of Sandbach, reasonably sized car park. On a way street.

Nice place, big but loads of character. Plenty of gluten free options for those who need it. Slipped a point on service as they brought the wrong wine. Otherwise fab place.

Group of 8 of us had lunch last weekend and every single person who had a roast said it was one of the best they've ever had! Delicious food, excellent service even when nearly full and a beautiful pub. Excellent pub and restaurant!

It’s the first time I’ve been here in a few years and the service has become utterly diabolical. No drinks before food arrived, an over priced burger and chips which Wetherspoon could have made better, and staff that couldn’t be bothered to take payment. I shall not be coming back here again in a hurry. Sort it out.

Decent enough for a quick pint but we did have to wait to be served as they were short staffed. Would recommend.

Everything you hope for in a pub. The menu was varied and every item we had was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a good choice of beers, service was spot on and the character of the building was second to none.

Fairly quiet midweek meal out, really tasty food, amazing building, semi-palatial toilets. No background music or TV - really lovely: enabled necessary conversation.

I hope this restaurant isn't going downhill.... In summary, good food, poor slow service. Not as good as other places in Sandbach. Food was good but very slow service which was frustrating when we had two children with us. When we were served, the staff were pleasant. I expected better attendance for the price. It felt like hard work to get attention and service. The general manager was dismissive when we complained and begrudgingly provided discount off the bill after some awkward negotiation.

Amazing 17th century, Grade 1 listed building so full of history! The food, however, was very up to date! Beautifully fresh salad with a lovely dressing, crispy ciabatta, warmed perfectly with bacon and brie and lovely cranberry sauce. A perfect brewed pot of tea, almost big enough to bathe in. Served with a smile and quickly, considering they were packed out. We will definitely be going back!

A welcome return to this lovely old hall and its staff. This visit it was better than ever. Very busy Tuesday lunchtime but the staff kept smiling and look ed after us well. For staters we chose thye pate with an apricot chutney that addedreal balance, and the blackpudding and pancetta croquettes. Somethin a bit diffrent, and again with lovely flavours. Main was the salmon and cod fishcakes (always reliable) and the fish and chips. The fish has probably got a bit smaller in recent times, but it is still substantial, and the smaller portion means less of astruggle to clear the plate. A lovely lunch ... so until next time ... thank you!!

What a building! Beautiful in appearance, and appeared in most haunted I believe too! The food was exceptional, the Sunday Roast was delicious and the staff were attentive to our requests throughout. I can't fault this place one but, great parking, great decor, great people, great food, the reviews are true to word. Get yourself down here

We called in for lunch to break up our long journey from the New Forest to Scotland. The food was lovely, staff friendly and polite and the Old Hall is such a lovely building, full of character and charm. The toilets are amazing! So spacious and immaculately clean, which my mother use to say is always a good sign for a restaurant! We would definitely visit again.

Great family lunch time for a New Year celebration.

This is a fabulous traditional English pub/restaurant. Service was outstanding and the food was exquisite. Great range of dishes on the menu. 10 out of 10. A must visit if near the area (Dog friendly too).

Great place with attentive staff. A few cask ales soon ran out. But it was the week before Christmas.

Waitress looked like she was chewing a wasp. Car park is a health and safety issue as well. Better options available in Sandbach.

The food and service were excellent, old world atmosphere

A group of eight of us meet every couple of months here for lunch. As ever the food was good and the staff friendly. As usual we ordered coffee and small dessert, the coffee arrived and after 20 mins we chased the desserts, when they finally arrived we politely asked for refills of coffee as we had waited so long. The manger came over and apologised but refused us complimentary coffees, eventually we negotiated some vouchers for our next visit. It seems like a small thing but it was a shame to have to complain at the end of what had been a lovely lunch, for the sake of a few coffees.

I don’t have many words but one of them was fantastic

Saturday meal to celebrate Christmas and we thought we’d take the family for a nice meal at the Old hall. We’ve had a chequered history with the place but the last time we went in August it was really good, so we thought we’d try it again. Bad decision… We booked at 8.30pm which we thought would be nice but knew they’d been busy. Our table wasn’t ready and we waited half an hour to be seated - which was ok, but the service was just terrible. The food we ordered was mediocre at best, portion sizes were tiny and clearly they were scraping the barrel trying to make up the meals we’d ordered. The Pil Pil prawns I was served (literally thrown onto the table) along with the ‘flying crostini’ which landed in my lap, were quite nice - despite the mixed seasoning gained from their encounter with the grubby table. My daughter’s 3 tiny cauliflower and coconut fritters (3 tiny balls on a huge plate - I swear some must’ve visited the kitchen floor) were ok - but we’re very small after an hours wait for our food! Our steak burger was accompanied by cold and in some instances undercooked chips - and the Pil Pil Prawns my wife ordered as a main (as the seabass was all gone) came without the same sauce I’d had with mine - basically something akin to warm tomato soup and they were missing all garnish and fresh chillies that mine came with. To top off a night of disappointing food - the waiter finally bringing our bill was very rude, didn’t ask how our food was nor thank us for our custom. Clearly he’d had a bad day and wasn’t happy to be working at that hour - and it showed. All in all, a very disappointing night - the only payoff really was laugh we’ve all had about just how terrible it was and vowing we’ll not go back!

A huge thank you to the staff at the Old Hall who looked after us so well when our car broke down. We remained there for 12 hours waiting for a recovery vehicle. The staff on duty that day were amazing, so kind and caring with offers of support and help. The staff are a real credit to you and you should be immensely proud of them. Thank you to the Old Hall team, you restored my faith in humanity!

Nipped in on Sunday at 4.45pm and asked for a table for two. after a little huffing and puffing we were told that nothing was available. We were a little surprised as we could see several empty tables even though we were only just through the front door, but knowing they could have been pre-booked we left. We booked elsewhere on the phone within 5 minutes. I then checked if we could book a table on-line on the Old Hall website, i was surprised to see that they had tables available within 30 minutes and then every 15 minutes for the next couple of hours. I not certain how the on-line system works or if they is a window between when they expect previous guests to leave and new ones arrive, i would expect so? if that is the case i would imagine that there may well have been a table becoming free within 15-20 minutes of our in person enquiry. There were tables for drinking available in the bar. It seem quite short sighted or perhaps lazy just to say "no were are full"

Very limited food choice for vegans. The Jack Fruit Curry with lime and coconut was overwhelmed by the chilli content. It was also a very meagre and disappointing portion size, especially given that it cost £15-95. None of the staff had been sufficiently educated about whether the available wine was vegan, their rersponse was to provide the wine list which also didn't contain that information. I was therefore unable to have a wine with my friends. All in all, a decidely underwhelming experience for which I paid for the privilege. Since this is part of the Brunning and Price chain then I must assume that a simialr experience awaits at every other venue. This is a shame because previous experiences teneded to be more positive. So, not to worry, I shall take my custome and cash to other establishments which have a better understanding of inclusivity and catering to a diverse community. I shall be frequenting the new Navio lounge in Nantwich more foten and would direct Brunning and Price to them, particuallry given that a Lounge is scheduled to pen in Sandbach in the near future. I shall leave it to B&P to figure out where I shall be goinmg in the future.

Very nice place but parking is a pain

Disappointing vegan experience! Two main course vegan options. The coconut and lime Jackfruit curry was just dominated by chilli. Small portions. Poor value. No obviously vegan wine. Staff were unable to advise on vegan wine and the wine list wasn't helpful. V. Disappointing!

I received an appalling service from the manager here last night as my clams were off. Threatened to call the police if I didn't pay for the poor quality meal, and only offered discount vouchers for my next visit. Ill never come here again. Appalling treatment of a disabled man. Even the table of ladies next to me we're shocked at his behaviour, he did apologize to my friend but not to me who he insulted. Never again. You need to go back to hospitality school my friend, Weren't even offered to have a dessert. Just gave me the bill, basically telling us to leave.

Disappointing lunch after we ordered a fillet steak sandwich. It arrived on a cold plate with chips and 2 sandwiches. The steak certainly wasn’t fillet in fact mega tough. I had to take steak off and eat the remains. I reported the problem to restaurant manager and she took off this meal on our bill. That alone is ok but my lunch was ruined and this reduction really didn’t solve the problem.

I have eaten here many times with a group of friends and enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. The food we were served to today was low quality, badly cooked and not presented well. Most of the staff were attentive and efficient, but not all of them. We will not be returning.

We popped in ,on the off chance there would be an available table for 2. Luckily there was. We went for light bites. Fish finger sandwich and a side order of chips. They weren't any old standard fish finger,they were beautiful white cod in a perfect batter goujon,with home made tartar sauce. Cooked beautifully. We observed other dishes being served that looked equally delicious. Would definitely recommend and will return.

We were passing through and desperately needed something to eat. They accommodated us gladly upon arrival and were reassuringly busy. The food was delicious, didn't take long to arrive and all the staff members we encountered were friendly. We'd like to return when we're in the area!
