The Old Hall in Cheshire East

We had a family gathering in the private dining room for a 90th birthday. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered the food on the night and it came promptly and all together. Excellent all round, thanks to everyone involved.

I really enjoyed my visit to this beautiful Restaurant/pub in Sandbach Cheshire. Ive wanted to visit for a while now after seeing it on an episode of Most Haunted. I love historic buildings and learning about them. I hope to return very soon 😊

Great service, great food and a lovely setting. What's not to like?

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Set in a lovely old building, this venue has style and atmosphere. A good range of Ales and Wines. The menu is extensive and the food excellent. Service is attentive, prompt, warm and friendly. Good value for money too. Absolutely loved it.

My daughter and I had a wonderful, delicious lunch at the Old Hall. The staff were attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was faultless. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to be back in a couple of weeks with my sister.

Some friends came over to Sandbach and we went here for lunch and they all thought it was a gorgeous place and gorgeous food. It was very busy and popular but the service was still brilliant. I've been before and I'll definitely be going back again. Lovely people, can't fault it 😍

Not great for anyone who wishes not to have diary! Can’t even have a coffee as no non-diary milk…pretty crap! Very little plant based options here at all so don’t bother coming if you have any dietary requirements whatsoever!

Very nice restaurant in an amazing old building. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Food well presented and decent sized portions. Certainly worth a visit, however be prepared to pay for the experience.

Our go to place for a quite beer with the dog. Good selection of beer and food.

My wife and I have been here for a meal many times before and it has always been wonderful. Tonight we went for our 3rd wedding anniversary and as usual, the food was superb. We wanted to make a special mention to our waitress Francesca. She was absolutely delightful. From the service, her wine suggestions, everything. We hope she gets to see how wonderful she was, and that in our eyes, she is a credit to the old hall.

Beautiful pub with a lovely environment. The food was delicious and our server was so friendly and welcoming. The drinks selection was good, our food was delicious and the portion sizes were more than generous! the car park is rather big too! Overall its just a lovely pub.

Real shame as we have been to the old hall a number of times and really rated it however went this evening and hands down the worst meal we have had out since living in sandbach. The food was average but the service was absolutely shocking - rushed, abrupt. No one came to check how our meals were; if we wanted a 2nd drink. We had to ask two different people for the bill, the 2nd of which tried to pretend she hadn’t seen us needing assistance. Really really poor and a real shame as we had really looked forward to tonight but wish we had saved the £80. Won’t be coming again.

Always good but, I think even better this time

A lovely old building that is nicely updated inside. The Old Hall is part of a small chain that includes the Hayhurst Arms. Both places have the same menu. Tried the feather of beef this time, it's really good. The smoked haddock fish cake is nice for a smaller portion. Also a good range of beers including three (I think) zero alcohol beers on draft. Definitely worth a visit.

Just 4 of us for Christmas lunch. It was really good. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming the staff attentive and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. The food was the star of the show, I had scallops,turkey and trifle, wow, I was impressed,as we all were. Will definitely book for next year.

Fantastic food, must go if in sandbach.

Sadly going to the dogs. Today large brown labrador being fed from the table raw sausages with 2_3 inches of slobber being spread over the chairs .last week two people had dogs on their lap eating of the table. The same week group of 5 women with dogs covered in mud barking fighting under the table. Where will it end they have a regular dog walking meet once a month I have no objection to people and dogs but find it very un hygienic to take a dod to an eatery. By the way I am a dog lover when I go for a meal the dog stays at home as a curtisy to people that are allergic or don't want dog hair or syliver on their clothes. Little respect for others.

Always a pleasure to visit this lovely old place, as it never disappoints. Brought our daughter for the first time. Once again an amazing dining experience. Food delicious and service very good. The architecture of this oldy worldy building is worth a visit in its self. Thank you.

We've been a few times since moving to the area, mainly for drinks so we decided to give a go at new year's eve. Sadly we were disappointed with the food (which was the standard menu with no additional charge). The prices are high but the portion sizes are very small to the point I was a bit embarrassed having brought numerous family members. Vegan choices were nil apart from adapting one veggie main course (despite being promised when booking that they would have a few vegan options). Service was friendly but inefficient, with us having to remind them a few times about our drinks and getting an order wrong. We'll go back because it's dog friendly, a lovely building and nice atmosphere, but most likely only for a drink. It's a real shame, we were hoping to love it.

Great , the service was pretty slow, the staff were friendly and very helpful but the area we were seated in was very busy. I would go back perhaps at a less busy period.

Brilliant food we had cauliflower soup, beetroot salad with goats cheese and granola, butternut squash nut roast and roast vegetables. One of the tastiest meals for a long time. Beautifully prepared and presented Great service and ambiance thank you

My favourite local pub in Sandbach ! And such a beautiful building. Lovely chilled out atmosphere, staff are always pleasant and helpful, food is amazing,never had a bad meal here and reasonably priced, a great seating area outside for in summer or winter undercover with heaters and blankets for chilly nights... big log fire also to sit by inside! I'd highly recommend

Great service staff and food and atmosphere

We booked the private room as we o every year for our Christmas meal. Food was delicious as always and service was prompt, especially for such a big group! We come back every year for our Christmas meal because it is so good. Also the bathrooms (especially the women's) are amazing.

Went for drinks and food, 2 drinks in we were told to put our dog on her lead for the 1st time in 7 months, while no one was out in the back patio garden. After putting up resistance we put her on the lead, but not after she said I had had enough (2 drinks). However, the barwoman then started purposefully turning off the heaters when it was at near freezing temperatures and we were spending £100s. Pretty malicious and I confronted her about us needing heat and that she didn't need to do that. She then told me she felt attacked and victimised, to which I said she had attacked and victimised us by coming out, telling us to chain our dog and turn the heaters off. This was all out of nowhere and she had purposefully come out to target us. After complaining to head office, this person had decided to claim, while with my plus size girlfriend, that I had been derogatory about her weight. While that doesn't stand (my partner would have been pretty angry at me obviously) her director said we were barred, which I can't fault him for as he's sticking up for staff in comparison to a customer that they don't need as their pubs that we are regulars at, are very busy. But we will have our say! Terrible service (for the 1st time at B&P in 13 years of going) and not a good outcome. Wish I could take back the £100s I've spent in the OH but can't complain about Hayhurst Arms, the Wharf or Worsley Hall. Very malicious, lying staff member.

We only went for a drink, but bar staff very friendly. The restaurant looks clean a d neat, but we weren't there to eat. All drinks are a bit pricey, and it is difficult to park, which I suppose is a testament to its popularity. I was sure I had updated this aper the photos - we went for a wonderful lunch. Food was excellent (both choices) as was the service. The ONLY downside was the car park as some idiot (who apparently had parked there and gone into town rather than the pub) parked so close to my door I could not get into the car so was forced to (eventually) climb over the passenger seat and from there into the driver's seat. Not that easy thing to do when you are 70+. This issue lost the place a 5-star rating. Parking has always been difficult as the spaces are small and vehicles are getting bigger, but now that car parking is being charged in Sandbach town centre this situation will only deteriorate. Management has to address it or, no matter how good the food and service, customers will get fed up and go elsewhere - I guarantee it.

Gorgeous venue. Didn't eat but saw other meals that looked fantastic. Plenty of drink choices.

I wanted to find somewhere halfway between Worcester and Lancashire, this just about fit the bill. What a find! Not only did the building appeal to us but the food and service was exceptional. We were attended to by the most professional, friendliest waitress. Food was so so good, cooked and served beautifully. Definitely would recommend. Something for everyone on the menu, even small sized puddings with hot drinks to finish.

We had a good meal with good service in the conservatory area at the rear of the restaurant. It was busy for a Thursday evening and had a good atmosphere. Having said that - one of our party experience a couple of 'taps on the back' from a mysterious person who was not there!!!

Lovely old pub both inside and out. Impossible not to be impressed. I almost forgot, the food is delicious and certainly not overpriced. I would highly recommend.

Great place and a fabulous old building. The staff were wonderful and found us a table on a busy night even though we had not booked. Well worth a visit.

Food is well prepared and very tasty. Service is good and staff pleasant… Nice surroundings and selection of beers. They also cater for celiac’s with plenty of gluten free choices, included beer. All in all a very nice experience I would like to repeat again…

Great old fashioned English Pub. Beautiful building, definitely worth a visit

First visit to this historic venue. The staff were welcoming and efficient. Our waitress was both sociable and professional. Recommended.

Fantastic place to eat. Also, I should like to point out that a review below by Carole Higgins is untrue: dogs are not allowed anywhere in the pub. They are, as she suggests confined to certain areas. If people wish to eat away from dogs, there are areas they can do so. Don’t let Carole’s misinformation put you off coming to eat here.

The building it beautiful with lots of original features. We went on a Sunday and the food was AMAZING everything was perfectly cooked and was served/ presented beautifully. The service from the staff was really good very attentive throughout our visit. There was a lovely atmosphere and we felt very comfortable, we would highly highly recommend and will be visiting again as there is lots in the menu that I can't wait to try. Thank you to the Old Hall for a lovely afternoon

We only went for a drink but what we noticed is that dogs are allowed anywhere in the pub which to be honest puts me off going to eat there, it would be better if they are allowed only in one area. Whilst there a dog kept barking, can't owners control their dogs if not leave them at home.

Lovely atmosphere. Warm and relaxing. The food was great, too. Staff were excellent and knew their jobs. Which is not found very often these days.

This is a lovely restaurant with loads of atmosphere and good, varied menus of tasty food. We like to take our visitors here if they want to eat out. Don't forget to take a look at the ladies' toilets, too (ladies only, of course)!

Amazing place, beautifully done out, lots of seating (though it did get quite busy over lunch so would recommend booking). Gorgeous outside area/smoking area. Service was good and the food was fantastic! Good range of choices, very well presented and tasted amazing 🤩 also good sized portions. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Lovely old building. Good disabled access and plenty of tables. Good disabled toilet. Very welcoming staff .Menu very good.Food very good both quiet weekday lunchtime and evenings. Good choice of drinks at the bar .We ve visited many times . Real fire , to add to the welcome too.

Had a lovely meal here, pie, mash and veg (the cabbage was a bit too raw for me though). Pudding was very nice, waffles & fruit. The young man who served us was excellent ‘Joe’, what professional service he gave us, he was so enthusiastic and pleasant with us, definitely a good asset to your team!

If you are eating you can order drinks at the table. If not you either need to queue in the tap room or the nicer lounge bar area adjacent to the restaurant. There is constantly a queue in the public bar (where we don’t choose to drink) and people sitting at the other bar as thee are stools provided. This evening I stood at the end off that bar and was asked to move several times before I dared to suggest it might be better to remove some stools or allow customers to order at the restaurant side of the bar. I received filthy looks from both bar staff and was snapped at by Shona who said “we do have another bar through there” !! (With a massive queue). I spend all week empathising with customers in my full time job and don’t expect to be greeted like that by staff working in hospitality

We went for a meal just my wife and I the food was good but not the best range. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very good. It's a wonderful location and I expect we will return.

Food not up to par. Extremely fatty bacon chop and very firm chips. Service was fantastic and a great outdoor space. Pity about the food.

Visited on consecutive weekends for Sunday dinner. Food was fantastic on each occasion and the general ambience was comfortable, convivial and chilled. However, beyond the very satisfactory restaurant experience the biggest plus factor was the superb staff who were very friendly, helpful and efficient across the board. It really does make a difference to a dining experience when the staff take customer service to the next level. Well done to all! Will keep coming back...

Always a lovely place to eat with very good staff.

We had a great evening. The lamb is absolutely delicious and the beer selection absolutely met our expectations. Unfortunately, the first two types of whiskey we ordered were sold out, but we were served one that was great but wasn't on the menu.

I really REALLY enjoyed my meal here! The building is lovely, the food was great (big fan of a fondant potato) and the staff were absolutely brilliant. We have some rather specific dietary requirements, which were fabulously catered for by the specific dietary requirements menu. All the wait staff were cheerful, polite and attentive, the atmosphere is lovely, and we left well-stuffed and well looked after. I’d definitely come back again for dinner, or just a drink, if I’m ever in Sandbach again.

I love this place with my entire heart, it's my favourite in Sandbach. The food is always delicious and staff members are lovely. The atmosphere inside Old Hall is something unreal, as a non-British person I feel like in a movie every time I visit. The only little thing i would suggest adding is lactose free or alternative milk.

Really picturesque set in lovely gardens at front and oldy worldly inside. Food was really tasty. Was very busy for a Tuesday lunch time. I just wish the staff wouldn't wear jeans as I think.it looks a little unprofessional.

Stopped off during a roadtrip and gosh, it did not disappoint. Ordered the mixed Sunday roast and it was exquisite. Highly recommend. Ladies bathroom is also something to gasp at. Do visit this beautiful establishment- you will be glad you did.

Lovely food and building, staff mostly awesome except one female who embarrassed us in front of other guests, loudly telling me to put my elderly disabled dog on a lead. Dog was sat still by the way. Would not return here nor recommend as she ruined it.

Beautiful old building with super outdoor seating with sails cover from the midday sun. Staff were very attentive. Had a cheeky white wine spritzer. Food was ok, I had a mushroom burger, perhaps the wrong choice as it was not very tasty. I was expecting a larger mushroom but instead got slices of mushroom that was deep fried in batter. Definitely will go back and try something else on the menu. Beautiful sunny day so that helped!

We absolutely love this pub. We travel here for lunch from Leicestershire. We cannot rate the food, staff, and ambience highly enough.

Busy but managed to fit us in but by the outside door, cold until a member of staff closed it. Food quickly served, very tasty. Asked for a coffee, didn't arrive for some time but eventually sorted. Friendly service throughout the meal.

Great venue, good cuisine . Service very slow . Chairs very unsupportive for folks with spinal issues and which became very difficult due to said slow service.

This wonderful medieval Inn is worth a visit to Sandbach alone! But even better, the staff is friendly and the food partly amazing. Try the wonderful burrata! The original gazpacho panna cotta was not ideally paired with an equally intense pesto, but still good. Don’t miss it and take enough time to see the unique Sandbach Crosses and the historic cemetery across the street.

Nice to nip in for a pint or two and I believe the food is good though I haven't eaten there. It is a bit pricey though!
