Popped in to this place expecting and old style male pub. WOW what a surprise, beautiful place, beautiful staff and an amazing singer. It was the boss’s daughter’s birthday and also a bit of a Halloween party. Owners had brought the most amazing chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken in with all the sides, food was to die for. We 2 adults and 2 dogs were made so welcome. What started off as a pint on the way back to the motorhome site ended up a 5 hour party with these people. Kitchen officially opens next week and I wish them all the best. Definitely visit again.

A warm welcome awaited us for our first visit to this little gem to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We took drinks in the luxurious, beautifully furnished lounge area before moving into the main restaurant for a three course feast of culinary delights. Chalk stream trout and monk tail starters, beef cheek and a beautiful fillet for mains, and a twist on sticky toffee pudding for desert. Staff were warm and attentive throughout. This was exactly the treat we needed and we’d have no second thoughts about returning.

Was so pleasantly surprised to find this famous cafe still open near the end of October. We were mid walk over to Dock Tarn and had a most enjoyable stop off with delicious coffee and the best home made ginger cake and tea bread cake you'll ever find. Just delicious 😋 😊👏

Absolutely fab pub reflected in the fact that it was always full. We managed to get squeezed in on the two occasions we visited during the week because we just loved the atmosphere. It was friendly, relaxed and cosy with a hum that was great to be part of. We tried a couple of other places to drink but kept drifting back to the Dog and Gun. We have to give a special mention to Ru "The Chip Lady", she was an absolute hoot and provided a great service. This is a brilliant place to have beer and chips at the end of a busy day, well done guys.

Oh dear. Been coming to Keswick every year, for 35 years. Eaten at The Pack Horse most years, but tonight was not a good experience. Drinks ordered, came promptly. Asked about the beer battered onion rings on the menu, were they home made? Yes, was the reply, we make our own beer batter. Meals arrived. What a disappointment. Onion rings obviously cooked from frozen, n certainly not beer battered. Extremely thick batter !! As were the Scampi !! Waitress asked if everything was okay, we said no, explained problem and she left. When we’d finished, she came to collect plates, again asked if everything was okay. When we asked what Chef had said about Onion rings, she replied she’d not asked him, as that was their usual onion rings. She asked what the problem was again and we said we weren’t paying for them. How rude was Debs. Definitely no customer service skills. Debs couldn’t bring us the bill fast enough. Paid and left. Won’t be back. We’d read the recent reviews, several not good, but thought, we’ll give it ago. Big Mistake.

Called twice after we were let down by another place, and were given a reservation and confirmed, in 20 minutes time. Drove into Keswick to be told that actually they had big bookings coming in and so they couldn’t seat us and could we wait for a table to finish. Possibly 30-45 minutes. Seems to me that they possibly just gambled on a table becoming free but didn’t care that we might be let down if not. Ended up wandering around Keswick desperately trying to find a table somewhere else, with two hungry kids and a grandma. Deeply unimpressed.

We booked a table for 10pm as we were working late. We arrived at 10:07pm due to traffic, and were greeted with “You’re very late.” And a cavernous sigh. From then on in the service was rushed, curt and rude, despite there being other tables in the restaurant until about 10:45pm. We ordered a beer each which was fine and then at 10:30pm ordered a glass of wine…another cavernous sigh. When the waiter brought the wine, “no more drink. We’re closed now.” The food was excellent, but having booked for 10pm we were then treated like a huge inconvenience, with food just short of thrown at us.

An amazing room with a beautiful view of the mountains, very clean Pauline did a fantastic job with the cleaning. The room was very big and enough room as we took our Labrador retriever so plenty of space. The food was beautiful and the bar was amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere and very homely. We walked to Keswick and back in about 45 mins great walking distance. Thanks to the staff Leo, Becca and Dudley for making our stay perfect.

Bought a BLT and ham salad sandwich. The bacon in the BLT was hardly cooked, very fatty. Almost broke my tooth on something in the sandwich, must of been a stone in the salad. Very expensive for what you get. The brownie was good though. Would recommend going elsewhere
