A warm welcome awaited us for our first visit to this little gem to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We took drinks in the luxurious, beautifully furnished lounge area before moving into the main restaurant for a three course feast of culinary delights. Chalk stream trout and monk tail starters, beef cheek and a beautiful fillet for mains, and a twist on sticky toffee pudding for desert. Staff were warm and attentive throughout. This was exactly the treat we needed and we’d have no second thoughts about returning.

We went here with local friends who had tried it before and were not disappointed. There is a wide choice for vegetarians (and vegans) which I always appreciate, rather than being forced to choose the one safe option on the menu. The choice was difficult, but both starter and main course (pea and mint curd bruschetta; dal with asparagus and pasta) were excellent. The finale, honey and pollen sponge with creme anglaise and ginger ice cream, was truly sublime. My fish- and meat-eating friends were equally impressed. It's not cheap, of course, but worth saving up for. The service was fine and the view, if you are lucky enough to get a window table (guaranteed only for parties of six or more, but we struck lucky), is glorious.

I do not often write reviews but we truly enjoyed tonight’s experience that I felt compelled to write. I was looking for a place to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday and the lady who runs the cottage we are staying at recommended Lyzzick Hall. When locals recommend, it is always a good sign and she was right! The meal was superb (all looked and tasted amazing), the service exceptional (friendly and attentive) and the views breathtaking. Thank you to all the staff who made the night very special!

We celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary last night in the restaurant at the hotel. From when we arrived to when we left, the service was exceptional. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Then the food...delicious and beautifully presented. We had a great table overlooking all the fells, which was also perfect as we completed the Wainwrights that day too. Thank you to all the staff for making the evening so special and especially to the lovely member of staff who dropped us off on his way home as all the taxis were booked up.

Went here on a last minute break/deal Hadn’t been for a long time but certainly will be back !!! All staff so friendly and accommodating nothing was too much trouble !! My partner asked if there were any room upgrades available and we were shown a lovely suite with a view of Catbells immediately we said yes !! We had booked dinner for 19:30 and our order taken in the bar area before proceeding to the main dining room !! Service was prompt and efficient and the possible only slight criticism of any was that there wasn’t much of an interlude between starter and main but I appreciate kitchens have to run to a tight schedule !! We asked and were given a suitable one between mains and dessert but that’s just our personal preference. The following morning breakfast was again exceptional with a great choice on offer !!! Lovely hotel, lovely staff and with a bus stop right out the the entrance to the grounds easy access to Keswick

Staff excellent. Room was well appointed - they could look at an alternative to single plastic use toiletries. Lunch - bread was a bit thick and chewy. Breakfast - eggs Royale - the poached eggs were not soft and the muffins were a bit hard. The dining room is lovely and the lounge is beautifully furnished - just feel that the food let them down a bit.

My family and I had an amazing dinner last night in the Lyzzick Hall Hotel and Restaurant. This is somewhere we always try to do whenever we visit and stay in the Keswick area. The experience was as amazing as ever and the service was exemplary. The staff are the most helpful I have ever experienced. As an example, one of our family has allergies and intolerances, so we always try to check the options and choices in advance. The Lyzzick is one of the best at managing our needs, thus ensuring and delivering a positive experience for all parties. I have to mention "Orsi" and "James", in particular at making our experience amazing. Huge thanks.

Me and my husband stayed from Saturday the 8th till Sunday the 9th, I must say I was blown away by the whole experience, the hotel was beautiful, and the views are second to none, the staff were phenomenal, nothing was any trouble at all and they were so attentive, although we were there for my husbands birthday I felt like it was a massive treat for me too, the furniture, atmosphere decor was just stunning, I very much hope we will get the chance to visit again. Well done to all the staff, and the chef..the food was sensational... they really do go the extra mile thankyou for a break we will never forgot.

Table tops tacky, Items on wine list not available but not signalled by waiting staff before ordering. Brioche a bit too oily for the pate entre. Broccoli and stilton soup excellent. Mains plates far to busy. Sea Bass over whelmed by the tomato sauce so flavour didn't come through. Venison really nice. Braised beef nice but a feeling this was because of the gravy. Chocolate brownie dessert adequate. Scenery outstanding.

I decided to treat my wife to a meal in a restaurant that we hadn't been to before. When you get older you tend to go to the same places a lot but this was more of a fine dining setting and at a nice hotel in keswick set back from the town centre. We both enjoyed the soup to start with a nice warm role and the risotto was nice too. I had the beef main. We couldn't manage dessert so we ordered a cup of tea and a biscuit before a stroll around the grounds. A nice evening had for our anniversary.

My partner booked this hotel for my birthday. We were looking forward to eating in the restaurant as it had great reviews. So the price for a 2-course meal is £35. There were two vegan starters and 2 vegan mains for me to choose from. The starter was a vegetable soup which was alright but no way would I pay £10-£15 pounds for it in a restaurant. It was served with vegan bread (?) which was different from my partner's (he is not vegan). My bread looked like it was the most average shop bought kind whereas my partner's looked fresh and home-made. Then the main - I ordered a mushroom risotto. This was served with the most bizarre set of accompaniments. On my plate I had the risotto which was watery and flavourless, a portion of chunky chips, a portion of sweet potato fries, boiled broccoli, grilled red onion, a whole mushroom and 2 tablespoons of a mustardy sauce ( my partner's meat dish was served with the same sauce). Again, I could not imagine paying £20-£25 for a dish like that in a restaurant. If I had known the quality of food that I was going to get served, I would have happily gone to a restaurant in Keswick. If a restaurant claims to cater for vegans, they should do it properly with a focus on quality and flavour, not just piling a random set of vegetables on a plate. The only reason I am not giving 1 star is because the breakfast that was included with the stay was nice. Also the restaurant is in a lovely location with amazing views.

Not only was Orsi and the team incredibly welcoming and helpful, where nothing was too much effort, but the afternoon tea was delicious. I had the vegan option and it was by far the best vegan afternoon tea I've had and went far beyond the usual fruit platter. There were innovative sandwiches, "sausage" rolls, scones and delicious pastries. Would highly recommend. Plus it must have one of the best views in the Lakes.

We stayed here for one night on the recommendation of a friend and regular visitor to the hotel. First impressions were good, and the room was well presented, however soon the cracks began to show. The bathroom window catch was broken and it was not possible to fully close it, making the room too cold. Some hotels and restaurants where the owners have taken their eye off the ball begin to be run for the benefit of the staff rather than the enjoyment of the guest.Pre dinner drinks were served in the bar, though in a very basic way- no napkins or coasters, no nibbles, incorrect glassware for the size and brand of beer. The menu read well, although it seemed too long and rather confusing. We opted for the 4 courses for £40, which included coffee. The starters were muddled and ill thought through, with probably 2 ingredients too many on the plate. Beetroot cured gravelax was served with a ‘slaw’ which was a grey vinegary and slimy textured pile of over processed vegetables and some unnecessary cherry tomatoes. The herb blini was too dry, and heavily textured . A simple dressed beetroot salad would have been a better accompaniment.A main of ‘Crispy skinned sea bass’ was served with a bizarre combination of accompaniments, including Spring onion risotto (on the menu as a dish on its own) some dry prawns, a range of purple vegetables which I could not identify- could have been potato or beetroot, a barely there reddish sauce a sprinkling of samphire and the ubiquitous cherry tomatoes. This dish arrived dried out, the fish skin was not crispy and the accompaniments did not go together or enhance the fish- what was wrong with well cooked fish, samphire, potatoes and a nice sauce? The other main of Pork wellington was similarly dried out and accompanied, including the cherry tomatoes again!Deserts were slightly better, though over garnished. Blood orange panda cotta came with additional whipped cream blobs and blackberries- it’s March!!!A creme brûlée with rhubarb arrived at the table stone cold. The crispy caramel topping had the rhubarb in syrup plonked on the top, making it soggy and there were more blackberries and a single raspberry. By 9pm most diners had left the dining room, but by then the staff were busy removing cloths and setting up for breakfast as we were still eating our meal.Coffee in the lounge was similarly accompanied by tidying up for the morning, making us feel we needed to go up to our room. At breakfast there were a couple of unpleasant incidents, including an obviously new waitress being ostentatiously ‘shown’ how to clear a table, then later being told off- the poor girl was clearly very embarrassed. A guest arrived 10minutes late for breakfast and was point blank refused service- it was a genuine mistake, and several tables were still occupied. Eventually he was served, but it was uncomfortable to witness.

We were warmly welcomed and invited to sit in the comfortable lounge which had great views whilst we enjoyed our pre dinner drinks. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. If we had one small criticism it was that the interval between the courses could have been a little more leisurely but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the meal, which was great value.

There were only a handful of waitresses who we thought put in that extra effort to make us comfortable, everyone else didn't seem too bothered. We had the mushroom roquefort for starter, which was lovely. Mains we had lamb and Cumbrian beef, these were nice. Dessert we had salted caramel and milk chocolate tart. A local resident, I’ve had many excellent dinners at this restaurant over the years, and it saddens me greatly that my latest experience was very painful – literally. Although my hake, which was supposed to be boneless, was tasty, a piece of stray bone lodged itself – very painfully – into the roof of my mouth, which still hurts every time I swallow – four days on. Regrettably, not being confrontational I didn’t complain on the day, but, in retrospect, I should have. As for the rest of my meal, the goat’s cheese salad was disappointing, as was my sickly-sweet panna cotta. Similarly, my two dining companions were not overwhelmed by their mains, which, unusually for them, they couldn't finish. Regrettably, neither they nor I see ourselves returning any time soon – if ever.

The staff were incredibly attentative, the food was excellent and the coffee even came with some sumptuous fudge to cap off the meal.

Myself and my husband were recently staying in the Lake District and on our last night went to this restaurant. I am only sorry we didn't go earlier in the week we were in the area because it would have given us the chance to go more than once. Everything about this restaurant was lovely from the moment we walked in. White linen tablecloths, candles, fresh flowers and lovely dark blue glasses for our water. Just little touches that are very effective on first impressions. We had the four course menu which I think at £42 a head is reasonable and the standard of the food was excellent. The high point for me was the venison for main. The meat was beautiful and cooked exactly to my liking. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the overall service was spot on. We didn't feel rushed but we also were not left unattended to wonder if we had been forgotten. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and am just sad that it isn't near where I live in Hertfordshire as I would be a very regular visitor if it was.

Just adding to the other rave reviews. Great food, lovely staff. The only downside - if there is one - is the car park can be a bit manic when it's busy and it can be a struggle to park, especially if someone has parked badly. Otherwise, definitely worth a visit.

The service was as ever exceptional, the staff were friendly and made us feel at home immediately. We had four courses and all were brilliant. The food arrived just when we wanted the next course. We have never been disappointed by the food or the service, if you are in the area this resturant is highly recommended by us. Beautiful views and a relaxed atmosphere.

Very disappointing, very ordinary food at over-inflated prices. The food could be obtained far more cheaply in any supermarket ready meal department. Wouldn't recommend it at all.

A very enjoyable lunch for two earlier this week. Every one of the three courses we enjoyed very much. So much so that we each are determined that we need to stay next time to fully enjoy the experience.

We visited on Sunday to celebrate my parents Golden Wedding, 13 of us in total. From the moment we arrived, until we left 4 hours later, the whole experience of Lyzzick Hall was outstanding. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very attentive, making sure that everyone has everything they need. I have a nut allergy which can cause problems in some restaurants, but not here, which immediately put me at ease. They knew what I couldn't eat, and when I couldn't eat the normal bread rolls, they brought out an alternative bread for me to have with my starter :-) The food was amazing, all cooked to perfection and served with perfection. I had the ham hock terrine to start, roast beef for main, followed by queen of puddings, all of which were delicious. After the meal we were shown to one of the lounges for coffee, where we were able to sit for as long as we wanted in gorgeous surroundings watching the view of the fells. Thank you so much to everyone at Lyzzick Hall for all their hard work and a perfect afternoon.

This restaurant has a reputation for Sunday lunch and as such was very busy. Initally the service was poor as there was so much going on that staff were a little negligent. However, once we were seated in the restaurant things improved. The lunch was very good with pink roast beef. A good bottle of Spanish wine helped the meal along. The setting is delightful and the views excellent.

Had a truly wonderful special occasion meal here with my wife Jenny and my parents. Delightful setting, super-attentive staff, and food to die for. We went for the full four-course delights and none of the choices disappointed. Everything beautifully and fairly elaborately presented, attractive vegetarian options, sensible portion sizes, and then a range of comfortable places to sit after the meal for post-dinner drinks. A very special evening and a real treat.

This is now our go-to destination for special family meals. The menu is very appealing and beautifully cooked. The staff are unfailingly helpful, especially appreciated since my husband has had a stroke and only one working arm and leg! On our third visit, my husband’s meat was thoughtfully cut up and delicately reassembled before arriving at the table.....a lovely touch which was so much appreciated.

Our party of photographers and their families chose this restaurant on an ad-hoc basis with no expectation of a successful night out, but we were delighted with the outcome. The staff created us with a warm welcome, they were ready for our party and we were ushered to a comfortable seating area while they made final preparations for our table. Moments later we were seated and had ordered what turned out to be one of the best dining experiences of our trip. The food was excellent, the wine superb, the service friendly attentive and efficient and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Highly Recommended!

We went with some friends for Sunday lunch. The location is superb with views over the Bassenthwaite valley, it is a Victorian country house now a hotel and restaurant and it is maintained to a high standard. Seated in the lounge to review the menu and have drinks and made to feel very welcome. Sunday lunch is fixed price for three courses followed by coffee. We all chose the warm smoked salmon starter which was superb with a great blend of flavours. For mains two roast sirloin, one lamb and one pheasant. All were very good but the pheasant was outstanding. The portion size was also very reasonable until the desert selection which was somewhat large though very good. Service throughout was attentive without intruding, just what is wanted. Afterwards it was coffee in the lounge and we spent a long time chatting. At no time were we made to feel rushed. Overall an excellent lunch and for the quality the price was very reasonable, £120 for four including some drinks. Was really fine dining at a mid range price. Don't know what dinners would be like but we will be back to try.

We visited here at the end of our last trip to Keswick and vowed to return. In fact, we returned twice in the same week! The hotel and restaurant were refurbished in the last few years and it has been completed tastefully. However, that needs to be backed by high quality food and service and no need to worry there. On visiting last time we both had the seabass and it was so good, we had it again on our return. It always seems mean to only get one fillet but no such worries here. These are backed up by really tasty new potatoes and Mediterranean vegetables together with a tomato sauce. Every element of the dish tastes fantastic and also complement each other. Forcing ourselves to try something else we had fish pie on our second visit. This can often sound interesting but be bland. Not here, we big chucks of salmon and haddock swum in a tasty cream sauce. Supporting Summer greens complimented the pie well. A final word on the service. As excellent as the food, with special mention to Lanie who is a hard worker and knows the right blend between being professional and friendly. A credit to the restaurant. We look forward our next visit to Keswick and Brasserie 31.

Lovely hotel, reception staff member was curt when asked for a table and simply pointed to the restaurant doors. Maitre'd was efficient. Food was just passable. The 2 curries we had were far to salty, one being nearly inedible. Started of prawn was good. Won't go back
