The best restaurants in Hartley Northumberland North East

We have visited the Northumberland Arms twice in the last few days, and on each occasion, the food has been superb. The staff are friendly without being familiar and the food is served promptly with excellent presentation. I have to dig deep to find any negatives, the only - very minor - one being that I would have liked a fork as well as a spoon with which to eat dessert. Highly recommended.

We visited in the evening on a Friday and after a short wait, were pleasantly served with large portions of haddock and chips with mushy peas. Th food was great. Thoroughly recommend but be prepar d for a short wait at peak times to get a table. Takeaways also available.

60 mile round trip only to find restaurant closed even though website says it was open. Surely you can amend your website to advise the piblic of the current position. Will I go back no.

This is the first time we have been into the Delaval Arms although we have passed it loads of times but certainly will be back. The staff are so friendly quaint rooms with dog friendly sections which means you can relax if you aren't an animal lover or allergic. The food was amazing and the presentation fabulous. Definitely a Chef who is passionate about their profession

Had the Haddock and chips. Was good enough to rival or even better than any chip shop. Absolutely fabulous! The venue is lovely and the staff were very helpful and very friendly. Excellent!

Great staff, super personable. Great array of drinks options. Didn't eat there but the atmosphere was great, everyone was welcoming and it was clear there were regular customers that come back time and time again. Beautiful setting, worth a visit, a drink or several and enjoy the location and atmosphere. The new owner checks in with everyone to make sure they are enjoying themselves and has a great relationship with the regulars, it's clear he cares about the business and that people are having a good time in his establishment!

Castaways continues to be up there with the best cafes in the North east of England. the staff are lovely, the food is always fresh, they constantly come up with new specials and the service is also what we all want Staff to be - courteous, friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. I've had lots of dishes on their menu and see the quality of the food that comes out. If you want decent food for a reasonable price, then this is the place! They are licensed though I only have coffee as my drink.....and the coffee - they use pink lane coffee and they expertly pour a perfect oat latte every time!

Melton constable has a nice relaxed atmosphere and is our regular when visiting the area. The pub has a great menu and a good selection of ales. Bonus is that they welcome dogs our side of meal times, so a perfect spot after a walk with the dog in the dunes.

What an amazing Pub .. from the location to the views to the friendly welcome. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced as well as really good portion sizes and options of a smaller size meal on most things. The lamb roast was perfectly cooked and nice and pink all homemade and lovely Yorkshire’s and gravy. The fish and chips were in a crispy fresh batter with fresh fish and homemade chips and mushy peas. We will be back 💯

Great food, lovely desserts , great variety of choice, friendly staff , nice atmosphere , would definitely recommend.

Visited here thr other day and had the seafood platter as always fancied this. Can't say it was anything other than outstanding! Fresh dressed crab, fish goujons, mussells, king prawns, cod lollipops, scampi, bread, peas and dips. I was dubious it would be enough but was wrong! Absolutely delicious. 100% recommend.
