Great food, service was okay, and the food came reasonably quick, although it could have been a bit hotter. A reasonable kids menu with a drink and sweets included. All in all, a good place for "fish n chips."

The chips I've gotten here are the best I've ever had. Whilst it's more expensive than other takeaway places, I've never had better chips anywhere else. Just always expect to wait a few minutes as there's always a bit of queue every time I've been, but it's absolutely worth the extra cost and the wait.

Fabulous venue. Greeted by friendly, chatty, staff. Ordered the haddock, but unfortunately, there is a shortage. So, I ordered the large cod and chips, with mushy peas, bread and butter, and a pot of tea. The fish was huge. It filled the very large plate. The chips were perfectly cooked and not bitty at all. And everything else was perfection. Well worth a visit.

Possibly one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. The large fish really was LARGE and meaty, chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the mushy peas were really flavourful. Excellent meal, great price, lovely staff.

Very disappointed , first time here in a long time,although cooking to order and big queue fish was way over cooked , batter certainly not light but very dark, sadly the worst fish and chips in I’ve had in years , so disappointed as they were always nice, 3 large fish and chips wasted won’t be hurrying back

60 mile round trip only to find restaurant closed even though website says it was open. Surely you can amend your website to advise the piblic of the current position. Will I go back no.

Our favourite fish and chips shop. We have only had takeaways from here and they have always been delicious. The portions are very generous so we recommend the small fish per person. We will have to try the restaurant one day.

Advertised on their web site as open but a round trip of 40 miles wasted when they were actually closed. We wished to visit for a family elder's birthday and I checked on the website for opening times on Easter Monday and found that they claimed to be open Monday to Friday 11:30 to 13:45. We duly arrived at 12:30 and found that the restaurant was closed. Well thanks for that, a 40mile round trip wasted. But wait we travelled a short distance down Collywell Road (opposite the Harbour View) and found a smashing pub called the Waterford Arms which served generous portions of fish and chips and a decent pint. The meal was great and will go there from now on.

My husband and myself visited Harbour View for lunchtime fish and chips on Good Friday. They were delicious - couldn’t fault them. There is however, always a queue. It was worth the wait though 👍

Always busy but this means food always freshly cooked and it's delicious, the portions are huge and not over priced, need to mention the staff are great too, very helpful and friendly. A must try place to eat in or take away

Went for takeaway fish and chips today. Bit of a queue but just as expected on a sunny day by the sea. Fish and chips were gorgeous, fish was so tasty and well cooked. Regular fish was huge (I probably could have bought a small) but lovely. Price wise, I’ve paid similar at other seaside resorts in northern England so wasn’t surprised. We’d visit again.

Absolutely disgusting the chips were soggy and my fish (Haddock ) was extremely dry, I must spend £40 i noticed the prices have gone up too , hes a robbing merchant . I don't recommend this place at all

Visited the cafe/restaurant a few months ago, fab, faultless 5/5. Food was devine, the best fish & chips, fish was fresh, tasty, batter perfectly crisp & chips fab, they actually tasted how chips should. £16.95. Server was brilliant & welcoming. Visited the takeaway recently, 3/5. The actual fish cooked nicely, but batter not good, greasy, smaller regular fish than the previous regular fish in the restaurant, chips greasy & floppy, curry sauce bland £16.50 Would visit the restaurant again but not the takeaway

Haddock and chips good bit more expensive than scotland

They say all good things come to an end and for me this chippy Is one of them. The price to portion size is taking the mick. The fish are nowhere near the size they used to be and they disguise this as best they can by keeping the length but you won't ever get that thick piece of cod they used to do. It's now like a pancake. This review is based off 20+ visits over the last year and 30years of eating here. The owners are to blame, trying to maximise profits and taking advantage of the whole covid situation years ago. Shame on them for ruining MY chippy. Crooks. Most these reviews are from people's first visit here, they don't know what it used to be like.

When you ask for large fish, beware. It is large. We get a large fish and chips to share as it would be too much. The fish is tasty with a lovely crispy batter.

I would definitely recommend asking the total price of food before ordering, I asked my partner to get 2 large cod 1 portion of chips and Smokey sausage and chips £31,50, I thought he was joking until he showed me the receipt, that will definitely be the last time we get fish and chips next time it will be a Chinese which will last for 2 days.

Couldn't fault anything about Harbour View. Been lots of times and no faults. Best fish,chips,staff and cleanliness. If you don't want batter on fish, they do fish in rice flour which is very tasty. Nothing is a problem for Harbour View.

Some reviews and links suggest that they can serve you with a gluten-free fish and chips. This is NOT the case. I made a special journey based on reviews said I was gluten free to the first server I met who seated me and then another came to tell me that I couldn’t eat fish and chips gluten-free.. I didn’t check other options because I came for fish and chips, which I found across the way At the Kings Arms!

Wow . A superb place . We stopped here by chance on the way to Newcastle. We chose to eat in. Service was brisk, friendly and efficient . The staff were lovely . My haddock was absolutely enormous !!!! It is a long time since I have eaten fish as fresh and well cooked as this one. My husband's scampi was also very nice . I now understand why other diners requested doggy bags !! Great value for money but the option of a a smaller portion might be a good idea . Will return.

Best fish and chip shop in the north east and surely it’s got to be up there with the best in the country! You will not be disappointed the fish quality is top class and chips are very tasty! The size of the fish are huge and that’s just the small the large is literally like a whale I’m surprised people can finish that on their own with the chips! We live 3 miles away from the chip shop and have other chip shops closer on the beach but I drive there as like I said it’s the best fish shop around and worth the drive the fish is literally cooked fresh when u walk in the door as they ask which type of fish u like and is cooked to order unlike other fish shops! The ladies who work there are always friendly and a credit to the business!

A favourite regular haunt, always a quick and speedy service. The front of house women on the takeaway side really know what they are doing. Amazing to see A buisness where everyone employed pulls there weight to allow this restraunt and takeaway to thrive is magnificent and so is the food! Brilliant pricing dining in always plays the anthems. Size of a regular fish is longer than my forearm but smaller specials in place if you don't have that much of an appetite well always go back its utterly amazing. This review may suggest I work here i don't I just love it🤣.

Portions absolutely massive fish is huge unfortunately we got a takeaway drove 2 minutes along the road opening the box at our destination the fish and chips were like mush the cod wasn't flakey like other chip shops we have tried. not sure where they get fish from but i would say definitely not local. Would be better if fish and chips were sold separately but realise this would affect the cost.

This is a proper fish and chips. Good mushy peas. Massive and well cooked cod moist crispy batter just right. Overall though a good meal. Came back a month later and sat in restaurant. Still the best and service caring and friendly. Chips great and fish (standard cod) big and superb very crisp thin batter. Top class sit in if you can it's an experience. For smaller eaters (I only could eat half) they have something called cod bite

Had takeaway. The staff were very patient and helpful as it was our first (certainly won’t be out last) visit. Fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was light and not greasy. Chips are how chip shop chips should be. Thank you

I've never been disappointed with the food I have ordered from here and I've been coming here since I was a child way back in the 60's and 70s to the present day. These days I can bearly manage a pensioners meal ( fish bite and chips) as they are so big, I usually have a pot of coffee too....keep up the good work

The very very best large cod I have ever had no chips it was so large. I am back again friday & saturday. The lady who served me was a pleasure to talk with.

We had walked along the seafront from South Beach, Blyth with our dogs, had a drink in the Kings Arms, Seaton and were about to head back along the coastal path when we noticed lots of people going in to the Harbour View fish n chip shop and coming out with bags/boxes of food. We decided to join the queue. SO glad that we did. The larger cod was dipped in batter & fried to order. They had to break it to fit in the box. We found a lovely place to sit by the estuary to enjoy our feast...it really was delicious. The fish cooked to perfection and the best we have had in a very long time. The chips were also first class. The whole experience was a delight. The cooks were well organised, the two serving staff were very friendly & efficient, the food was delicious and the price was affordable. Great value for money. We'll definitely be going back....soon!

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Bringing the harbour inside with photos and nautical prints everywhere. Staff are friendly and service is great. Prices are more than reasonable. Lovely fish but id expect so for £11.40

Clearly today they refried chips from yesterday, hard and chewy, bordering on inedible, and tasteless. They were just plain nasty. This is a regular occurrence if you go when shop just opened. They think we won’t notice. The size of a large carton of curry sauce is laughable! Prices are getting ridiculous. The owner has a cheek to go on TV bleating about less people buying fish and chips, when there are queues out the door most weekends and Bank holidays.

Called in here as people were queueing out of the door, thought it must be good, and it was. Spotlessly clean, helpful, friendly staff and the food was delicious. I ordered two 'small' haddock and chips. The fish was so big that it had to be broken to fit in the box! It tasted even better than it looked (if that's possible)

Joined the queue of people waiting to enter the restaurant at 4.15pm, and can now see why it was so busy. Got one of the last tables and very friendly staff quick to assist. Recommended the regular sized cod and saw others trying to tackle the large. Food arrived and fish was huge. Food was superb, great crunchy chips, succulent fish and crisp batter. Struggled to finish and was glad I didn’t go for the large. Others had haddock and that was similarly well cooked. If you are in the area would definitely recommend. Excellent friendly service, clean and well decorated surroundings and superb food. Great value for money.

Absolutely love this place,for me the best in the North East. I live in the South now but every time I’m home I have to visit. The staff on the counter are brilliant always happy to have a chat with me even when rushed off their feet.

Still one of the best fish and chips places that I have come across on my travels and always make sure to stop here. Staff are always really friendly, and very flexible on making a custom order since I have the one chance to eat all of my favorites. Only negative is that hopefully one day they will change the music in the restaurant. Been hearing the same songs each time I have visited over the last 8 years.
