I've never been disappointed with the food I have ordered from here and I've been coming here since I was a child way back in the 60's and 70s to the present day. These days I can bearly manage a pensioners meal ( fish bite and chips) as they are so big, I usually have a pot of coffee too....keep up the good work

The very very best large cod I have ever had no chips it was so large. I am back again friday & saturday. The lady who served me was a pleasure to talk with.

You get plenty for what you pay for aswell as the staff are very friendly to me and especially to my daughter I will defo come back

First time back after 10+ years, give or take, still as amazing as ever.... was so good to come back.... even if it was for the fish and chips

The takeaway fish, scampi, mushy peas and chips were superb The batter golden and crispy. All freshly cooked to order, lovely staff and great value. They were the best fish and chips we've had for years!

Recommended as famous local fish and chips. Great huge piece of well cooked cod in delicious light batter. Well cooked fat chips delicious! Sat on outside tables looks ok inside too or takeaway. Convenient car park adjacent

We had walked along the seafront from South Beach, Blyth with our dogs, had a drink in the Kings Arms, Seaton and were about to head back along the coastal path when we noticed lots of people going in to the Harbour View fish n chip shop and coming out with bags/boxes of food. We decided to join the queue. SO glad that we did. The larger cod was dipped in batter & fried to order. They had to break it to fit in the box. We found a lovely place to sit by the estuary to enjoy our feast...it really was delicious. The fish cooked to perfection and the best we have had in a very long time. The chips were also first class. The whole experience was a delight. The cooks were well organised, the two serving staff were very friendly & efficient, the food was delicious and the price was affordable. Great value for money. We'll definitely be going back....soon!

We had a small haddock and chips, which we thought was large,the batter was thin and crispy, lovely 😋 the chips were nicely cooked and fluffy inside, definitely would advise you to call in ,the price was reasonable, definitely would go again next time we are up this way👍😁the staff are lovely. This is a proper fish and chips. Good mushy peas. Massive and well cooked cod moist crispy batter just right. Chips not as good as fish but ok. Overall though a good meal

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Bringing the harbour inside with photos and nautical prints everywhere. Staff are friendly and service is great. Prices are more than reasonable. Portions are enormous! Prepare yourself! The very best fish and chips in the area. Not so much large cod as whale and chips!

Clearly today they refried chips from yesterday, hard and chewy, bordering on inedible, and tasteless. They were just plain nasty. This is a regular occurrence if you go when shop just opened. They think we won’t notice. The size of a large carton of curry sauce is laughable! Prices are getting ridiculous. The owner has a cheek to go on TV bleating about less people buying fish and chips, when there are queues out the door most weekends and Bank holidays.

Always good quality food here, fish is delicious, fresh and while not the cheapest, worth the price for the quality.

Called in here as people were queueing out of the door, thought it must be good, and it was. Spotlessly clean, helpful, friendly staff and the food was delicious. I ordered two 'small' haddock and chips. The fish was so big that it had to be broken to fit in the box! It tasted even better than it looked (if that's possible)

Joined the queue of people waiting to enter the restaurant at 4.15pm, and can now see why it was so busy. Got one of the last tables and very friendly staff quick to assist. Recommended the regular sized cod and saw others trying to tackle the large. Food arrived and fish was huge. Food was superb, great crunchy chips, succulent fish and crisp batter. Struggled to finish and was glad I didn’t go for the large. Others had haddock and that was similarly well cooked. If you are in the area would definitely recommend. Excellent friendly service, clean and well decorated surroundings and superb food. Great value for money.

world's best chippy go small as the portions are huge

Absolutely love this place,for me the best in the North East. I live in the South now but every time I’m home I have to visit. The staff on the counter are brilliant always happy to have a chat with me even when rushed off their feet.

Still one of the best fish and chips places that I have come across on my travels and always make sure to stop here. Staff are always really friendly, and very flexible on making a custom order since I have the one chance to eat all of my favorites. Only negative is that hopefully one day they will change the music in the restaurant. Been hearing the same songs each time I have visited over the last 8 years.

Great Fish and Chips, well organised quick service on a busy day

The 4 of us visited the restaurant during our holiday. We were greeted by very friendly staff who made us all feel very welcome. We all found the food very tasty indeed, the regular sized fish was enormous! the batter was thin and light, the chips were tasty as was everything else. I would highly recommend this place. 10 out of 10 from me.

Always a queue here but one taste of the food and you know why! Best fish and chip shop in the area. You pay a little more for it but it's really good quality food and decent portions. We visit every time we're local.

Had large haddock and chips today. OMG, the fish was huge, it filled the box. Fish was well cooked, chips were perfect and fluffy, staff chatted and were very pleasant. Takeaway service was quick considering queue was huge. I will defo be back as I'm a fish n chip nerd 👍

Best fish and chips in the country.

Genuinely 1 of THE best chippy's I've ever had the fortune to eat in. Plus, it IS incredible value for money. I bet only a very few people can manage a large fish and chips. Think it even beat the chap from Man v Food!!

Much better since our last visit, great service, great food. My wife had cod bite and chips, including mushy peas, curry sauce or gravy. I had haggis and chips. I added a cup of coffee which in my case was extra. We will be back. 👍

The fish was so great. I don't like those big fries but there is an option to not take them. Mush peas 👍. When you eating outside there is a nice view. Recommended

UPDATE.... Still One Star. Still overrated but tried again on the basis of a friend saying it was unbelievable. It isn't. It's still disgusting and a total rip off. ......................... Totally overrated im not sure why it has a good reputation. I've been several times as we live local and have to say it just isn't worth the hype or ridiculous price. Batter is really weird. It must be gluten free? The fish batter is very thick and chewy every time we've tried, and the chips are usually anemic and undercooked. The service in the take away is abrupt and unfriendly as well every time you visit. Not welcoming at all amd if you ask them a question which makes them deviate from the routine, their eyes roll around like marbles.

Came here with the family for my Gran’s 90th, there was 7 of us sat on the big table round corner. Staff were great & talked us through the size of fish & was so pleased I got the pensioners as the big ones were like whales. My brother & nephew got the big ones & never seen anything like them. They were amazing & will definitely be back.

Massive portions, not the cheapest but tasty

Always freshly cooked food and it's mahoosive.Great staff too.

Surroundings are modern and a bit characterless. Service was 5 star and always worth a good cash tip. Regular haddock was massive. Batter was flat and not crispy enough. Fish was hot and very white, but a bit wet. The chips were pale and not very crispy, but hot and fluffy. The curry sauce was basic chip shop curry sauce. I prefer a more Indian/Goan type curry sauce.

Great fish and chips. Wife does a 25 mile round trip on a Saturday.

Very busy but always worth waiting

Normally when I come up to see family we go here and get take away fish and chips. Very tasty. A little expensive (but hey, most places are these days) and quite often we’ve found a queue out the door since it’s so popular. That said it’s worth the wait, but be prepared for the wait. The car park is also a little small, but there are other places to park within a 5 minute walk-ish which isn’t so bad. Good portions and tasty food.

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Aneamic looking damp chips, overcooked cod with soggy batter. Ended up going in the bin. Had obviously been cooked and left out for a while. Won’t be back for more.

The Best Fish and Chips ive ever had

Batter on cod was soggy. From rectangular shape i think it may have been fried ready battered from frozen. Either way very disappointing. The chips were OK and the mushy peas were a bit below par. I won't be going there again.

The food is absolutely delicious. The fish cooked to order. Lovely light crispy batter, succulent fish and no grease left in the box. Chips were perfectly cooked and a very large portion. We had a large fish between 2 of us and a portion of chips each, neither of us could finish it. Curry sauce is amazing too. The staff are lovely and friendly with a smile on their faces. Definitely recommend this place

Visited this for its ranking as the top chippie on Northumberland. Comparing it with other well-rated ones (especially the Harbour Fish Bar), the cod here is thicker and tastes better. It's also £2 more for their large cod than the previously mentioned place, so you're paying for the quality of the piece. Batter is crispy but prone to getting soggy (I needed to split it quickly cos the side that faces down was getting soft). On the upside, one doesn't sense any of the greasiness that usually remains on your tongue with fish and chips, so it feels like a very healthy option and one I would definitely revisit.

We have had fish and chips up and down the country but this is the best so far. We live in Sussex 341 miles away but its the third time we have been. Beware the portions of fish are large. Two regular cod and chips with curry sauce and a tea £33.90. Fantastic and we were stuffed.

Fish is amazing! What a wonderful place, nice decor and atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and helpful, wow! …….. The fish is amazing, absolutely huge fillet covered in a lovely thin batter. Amazing value for money and would definitely go back again.

I did not actually go in, but lots of people were outside enjoying the beer on the outside chairs, great views all around from here. Shaded from the wind if it is blowing the right way. Some crazy stuff going on around the back of the pub with some art show.

Always made to feel welcome, fast service and lovely staff. I find small cod and chips very satisfying but my hubby prefers the standard size. Both very filling and excellent quality fish ,and good quality and quantity of chips. Will be back again soon

I had fish and chips in Scotland, Ireland, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, various palaces in South and south east. This was the best fish and chips I had ever had. It was interesting to see it was very popular amongst the locals and beyond. Large fish, right amount of chips and thin batter which is cooked just to perfection. People who have been around longer than I have, say it is like it used to be in old days. Look at that Haddock. The picture says it all.

Decided to go on Good Friday because its voted one of the best but was disappointed. The batter on the fish and the chips were both very dry like it has been overcooked or sat for to long. Not sure if it's a one off because it was busy or this is there usual standard. Good value for money though as the portions were very big!

My favourite fish & chip shop in the world, yes I rate this shop that highly. I live in the Midlands but everytime I visit family in Newcastle I make time to go. The fish is unbelievably good. Never used the restaurant only the takeaway followed by a lovely walk along the beach.

First time we have been to this fish shop as there is so many rip off ones in the coast area, can't complain at all the regular fish was big enough and plenty of nice golden brown chips, my son says it's the best chips and battered sausage he has ever had. Keep traditional BRITISH FISH AND CHIPS GOING.

Best fish n chips in the country, my Mrs is from Blyth and fish n chips from the harbour view is an absolute must.
