Great location next to the park few mins from the train station. Parking at rear. Wallpaper on bathroom ceiling peeling off must be a reason not painted but bed comfy, shower over bath, lots of fresh towels, tea/coffee etc. Breakfast was full English and delicious, bar area much more modern, menu looked good. Very dog friendly, door from outside straight up to rooms, check in desk too

Great location, clean room but dreadfully miserable, beyond comprehension, were the two female staff behind the bar on arrival. No eye contact, no welcome and we were ignored ahead of later arrivals to the bar who were served. Dreadful customer service and rude beyond comprehension. However, the female who worked the breakfast duty was friendly and personable.

This is the go to place in Morpeth for cheap clean rooms, fantastic grub and drinks. You won’t get a better pint in Morpeth that is for sure. The staff and management really go above and beyond for the guests and customers. Lucy, Olly and Diana have really made this place fantastic as well as the other staff. At least 4 big TVs to watch sport and James and Doyna in the kitchen make the most amazingly pub grub. Thanks for everything Waterford staff and management.

⛔️⛔️⛔️DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR WEDDING RECEPTIONS⛔️⛔️⛔️ I have thought very long and hard on whether I would post this . I was fully expecting the response I got and it is not something I would do normally, as I prefer things rectified to a degree and like to give them a chance to come to a solution for all parties but sadly that is not the case . We decided to use The Waterford Lodge as our wedding venue we wanted a small intimate reception quite informal but apparently this means your not entitled to good service as we just hired the room for the day but we were only in it for at most 6 hours, paid for afternoon tea and meat boards plus 16 bottles of prosecco and bucksfizz and linen. Decorated the room ourselves which is fine . Drinks were spilt on my guests, suits and dresses soaked, food was dropped on the floor by the staff and not picked up. One member of staff wore a hoody not exactly smart attire for a wedding, not very proffesional .Trying to find someone who was overseeing the wedding it was like they were non existent. My decorations were tossed on the floor .Food was ok some of it looked like it had just been pulled out a box very uniformed and squashed. There was very little organisation on the day or communication as noone had introduced themselves to us on arrival and we couldn't find anyone available after going into the main bar numerous times. So unless your paying more than we did which was just under £1000 dont expect much in return as your not entitled to have this service for just hiring the room and buying food and wanting a nice wedding reception regardless if its informal or formal ,good service is a basic staple is it not (there words in response to complaint) . The room itself looks great initially but the nails sticking out of the chimney surround and cleanliness is not a priority let alone a safety risk . The complaint was responded to and exactly what I expected poor customer service skills and very unprofessional but you got your money however I did not get the wedding reception I expected and the service that should have come with it . No offer of goodwill like dry cleaning or some kind of compensation, be it a token percentage refund or something. I was pleasant with my complaint but the response lacked any type of compassion or understanding for such a important moment in someones life. I am aware situations arise that can't be controlled but I don't think it was unreasonable to have a expectation of professionalism and hospitality from a Wedding Venue and it's staff. The petty comment at the end of the response that was accidently packed into our items by yourselves at the end was uncalled for and not needed. So it is with regret I post my review this could have been dealt with much better . Avoid avoid avoid

After a long train journey, me and my partner decided to pop in for a drink and something to eat. Upon arrival, i asked where their bathrooms were while my partner was going to order drinks and was greeted with a rude response from a senior member of staff, "Over there but we aren't a public bathroom you know". This comment set a poor tone to the venue and we decided against ordering food and have gone elsewhere. Would not recommend however the younger staff members were very polite and quiet.

Just been here , no tables being cleaned ( found a cloth and done it myself) no cutlery, as for the carvery where do I start ! There's a lady behind the counter cutting the meat ( no hairnet) , after my partner and myself got our meat and Yorkshire, we then saw there was very little veg , just carrots and roasts, asked if there was anymore the lady just answers NO , there's no cabbage , no turnip, no mash , no peas . Paid £30+ pounds for very little, just cold meat , carrots, cold gravy , Yorkshire pudding . Very very poor !!!!

This venue has great staff and atmosphere. I DJ,d there for a wedding and found the venue beautiful and cosy the function room has patio windows that can open to the outside tables area which has views of the beautiful moat hill of the nearby park. The weddings here are well situated for photos at the park with no hassle returning I the venue. The staff are accomodating and patient and work well as a team. All guests enjoyed the freedom to use both the private bar area to chat and enjoy the buffet and the separate function room to enjoy entertainment. The attached car park makes this one of the only venues in Morpeth entertainment companies can park for the duration of the function. There is also accomodation for the bride and groom. For a wedding, this venue works well and makes life easy for photographers and djs.

Room I stayed in was big but everything here is a bit dated and in need of repair. Staff are lovely and really helpful. Downsides also include that the bed I had was very much in need of a new mattress and was very dipped in the middle. Agree with other reviews about lack of shower pressure. Noise of the non-stop road can't be helped, but do try to get a non-road room as the glazing is single so it's really quite loud. Also note that WiFi doesn't reach rooms so wasnt the best business trip choice.

This was by far the worst carvery iv ever had!!! And the service was just as bad! First off I was told i couldn’t order a small meal as I wasn’t a child 🤦🏼♀️ The staff clearly hate their job, not a smile between them or any manners used! The food OMG… the meat was dry as sticks, the turnip was like soup, the rest of the veg was completely over cooked and just to top it off the gravy was like dish water, as a whole the meal had ZERO taste. All 5 of us left our food! The only decent thing about the pub is the beer garden!

Possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had, worst service I’ve ever received, 0% customer service. The staff need replaced, I feel sorry for the owner because the place looks nice but it’s rotten from the core, the place was dead but it took 45 mins for 2 very plain burgers, a panini and potato skins. When we went up to the bar the staff were more bothered about talking to their mates on the phone….if this is what millennials bring to customer service industry then we are doomed. The staff barely crack a smile… will not return…. 30 mins to wait for a drink is quite ridiculous also.

We stayed in a room for one night. When walking through the doors to the rooms, the smell hits you immediately. It was like damp and vomit. The room itself was large however the decor was disgusting. There were 2 patches down the wallpaper where there had been an obvious leak leaving water damage and another patch on the ceiling. The lid of the toilet was broken and we couldn't get the shower to run hot. It was ice cold. There were also cobwebs on the ceiling. The breakfast was average. The bar area where breakfast was served, the carpet was filthy with what looked like trodden in food. I wouldn't stay there again.

Booked table for Father’s Day. Carvery was tasteless other than the sausage stuffing., the pork Turkey and beef were drier than Ghandis flip flop, the cabbage was sloppy, the peas were dry even in the water and the gravy could only be described as lumpy wallpaper paste but runny. The customer service was disgusting with not 1 smile between them, was greeted with a girl wearing sports leggings with no nice manor at all, had to go looking for our own cutlery and the chef was the most miserable chef I have ever seen. We asked him for 3 carverys he looked at us and disappeared around the corner for him to come back with a handful of plates that looked like they had been wiped over with a dirty rag. The pint of coke was delicious though. Very nice experience if you like being in a prisoner of war camp.

However the young waitresses were inexperienced and went to the wrong table with our meal. The only other couple in there took our meal even though they knew it was not what they’d ordered. 15 mins later their actual order was brought to us. We told them it wasn’t ours and then after some discussion behind the scenes the penny dropped for them! They were apologetic but it was a farce! There was one other couple eating so thought we would get served quick. We waited almost an hour for food and when they brought it I wish we left and got a greggs to take home. Stayed at the Waterford recently with my wife as we were attending a friend’s party. The bar and restaurant areas are pleasantly decorated with a rustic look and feel. We ate in the bar and the food was good no problems there. The problem is the accommodation. It looks like it has not been decorated for decades. The room we were in was large but extremely basic with tired cheap furniture. Lights crooked, a damp patch on the ceiling and a bathroom that was crying out for TLC. However, the worst problem was the smell of vomit on the corridor approaching our room. It was pungent. Thankfully no smell in the room. The staff were all excellent. We should have pointed the issue out to them but there was an event on and it took an age to get someone to check us out and by this point, we just wanted to leave.Would we recommend this hotel? For a handy stay in the centre of Morpeth, it was well-positioned so for location yes. For the price and condition of the rooms no. I stayed in cheap accommodation in Cumbria this year and that was poor. Compared to this I would only recommend this accommodation if you could get a room for £40-50. It's not worth any more than that! My final note is the archway into the rear car park it is very tight so be warned.

Travelling home from Scotland we needed a break and a bite to eat. Coming off the main road we found this, initially quiet, pub. I say quiet as it was early lunch time and it did fill up considerably with a wake. However, service was so friendly and quick. We chose a sharing platter having asked what it included as there were smaller, single, choices. We were told it consisted of a bit of each of the single platters ?????? LOL. Not quite true as it consisted of the quantity of the smaller platters on one tray. Totally brilliant. It astounds me that above the Watford Gap prices go lower but quantity rises. We are fleeced in the south.Really nice, friendly pub with fantastic service. Guys it was a nice break from our journey, thank you. Oh yeh, btw, even as oldies your music is a fantastic choice.

The only problem was with a member of the bar staff as he came across very rude when i had a delay finding my card as it was "busy" and i needed to hurry up, i don't know if he was the manager or not but he seemed like he was telling people what to do and not doing much himself so i just assumed he was ! My partner who has been before has said he must be a new manager or deputy manager as she has not seen him ! For the prices you pay you expect some decent customer service and not people who clearly don't like working in hospitality!

Me and my partner walked in there by chance on the lookout for something to eat. I instantly liked the dark intimate setting and the friendly welcome by the young man behind the counter. We both ordered Rib eye steak, medium done. It arrived a short while later, on big wooden boards and looked amazing. The steak was done just right and the onion rings, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushroom and side salad were all very tasty. The chips were served in individual baskets and tasted fresh and home made. It was really good value for money too, most places start at around 20 Pounds upwards for a steak, whereas here they start at 14 Pounds per person for a 10 ounce steak, a bit extra if you want sauce. I wish I lived closer to Morpeth as we would be more than happy to eat there on a regular basis.

I was amazed as to how quiet the Steak House was on a Thursday evening (7 pm) - 3 days before Christmas. There was another couple and us !!My daughter ordered the Nachos & a fillet steak, me the chicken strips & fillet. The food was excellent and the service the same. The chips were home made and very tasty - slight grumble that the only "healthy" sides was a salad - no sign of any vegetables - don't think that chips or onion rings count towards your five a day :-)I had a pint of draught Moretti & my daughter a glass of Chilean Merlot - both were spot on.A little unnerving eating in a virtually empty restaurant - but the food & service made up for it.They don't take American Express - however my Visa card avoided us having to wash the dishes.......

I booked a table here on a Friday evening around 7.15 pm to have dinner with my girlfriend and family. The steak house is very nice inside, and is joined on to the Waterford pub, with a walkway interconnecting the two. The restaurant itself has a decent wine menu and its own bar, with Peroni on draught, however you can also order drinks from the pub bar through the double doors as well. The food menu is very good, with a selection of steaks, burgers, chicken, mixed grills, a variety of sandwiches and a separate menu for kids. I can recommend the 10oz Ribeye, as it was cooked to perfection, and tasted fantastic. Washed down with a couple of pints of Staropramen and a shared bottle of red from their wine menu! My girlfriend had the pork belly, which was presented beautifully, and she said it was fantastic. All in all, a very good meal at The Waterford Steak House, Morpeth!

Visited as a party of 7 on Friday evening and was surprised to find that we were the only customers and remained so for most of the evening. The menu was varied enough to suit all tastes, although quite expensive. After ordering our food we waited nearly 45 minutes for it to arrive, only for 4 meals to be sent back. The plates and food were cold and after another 10 minutes we all had a meal to eat.I chose a steak which was ok, but a bit on the tough side. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant, no waiter tending to the table and awful background music. The bill was adjusted to compensate the poor service, which was very fair. This was my first visit to the steakhouse part of the Waterford Lodge and I will not return. Other dining companions eat at the carvary and recommend it.

Just came across this by chance and by far the nicest food in a long time. It was quiet when we arrived so got a table straight away. We ordered food at the bar. Came within 15 mins with very polite friendly service. Big portions delicious chips...burger to die for. Massive fish which was amazing. Kids chicken nuggets went down a treat. All in all food was amazing 10 out of 10. Would definatly recommend that you visit.

Popped in for a drink with my son on a Friday night - expecting it to be a quiet place for a beer and a chat. It was busy, lively and there was a good mix of drinks and cocktails available. Bar service was efficient, variety of tables and seating, lighting etc all made for a really good atmosphere. Will go back.

We fancied a fairly quick dinner so popped in. The place seemed welcoming enough and staff friendly and helpful. We asked for a menu and I instantly thought it was over priced. A tad under £20 for a mixed grill. We opted for a burger. The food arrived promptly and I noticed the bun was a brioche! It should have stated this on the menu alongside where it says the extra charges for dil pickle etc. The first bite into the burger gave me a massive hit of garlic. The dressing was pure garlic. A small piece of lettuce was the only other thing in the bun. The chips were oven chips at my guess and completely over cooked. The quality is not there. Not for me.

Went on a Saturday for dinner, ordered sirloin steak . Nice environment friendly staff, the steak came cooked to my liking, medium rare, only problems was the chips were not home made and the price was rather expensive for a pub meal , why can't pubs make home made chips ???? It's not hard ! And at £14.95 not great value !

Usually eat at Lewis's in Seahouses when we're in the area but fancied a change on such a nice and sunny Saturday evening. We were lucky enough to arrive during a very brief but welcome lull in the queue and only had to wait for about 10 minutes to be served. Really good fish and chips, and reasonable value. Managed to snag a table on the green to eat at too which was fortunate as others were sitting on the grass. Folks who run the van were really friendly even though they were working absolutely flat out for hours on end. Will return again when in fabulous Northumberland.

I was really looking forward to some award winning fish and chips at this fish and chip shop. However when we got there the fish and chip shop was closed and there was a mobile fish and chip shop outside the Angel Inn which appeared to belong to them. The fish was freshly cooked but the chips were barely lukewarm and the peas were cold. The fact that they put the pots of peas on the counter straight away while waiting for the fish to be cooked should have warned me. We were only staying two minutes away but by the time we drove to our rental the supper was ruined in fact I think it was cold before it was served to us. It’s really spoilt our evening.
