The best restaurants in Sherburn County Durham North East

Came here for Sunday lunch with family and was greeted by the most relaxing atmosphere and tasty food. Definitely worth the visit. Friendly staff too! Was busy so would reccomend booking.

I only had food here. The place itself was ok, a little dated and despite being a country pub didn’t have that vibe unfortunately. Nice enough for a meal - the staff were friendly and food was ok. I liked the menu at first glance which is why I chose this place to eat and there are some adventurous dishes which i applaud. Not many places in the uk have haggis for example. However, I chose the featherblade of beef which is a cut of meat from the leg which is usually slow cooked in one piece like a steak that melts. Normally served with veg and mash. What I was served looked like leftover roast beef off the Sunday roast, cooked down and compressed in a plastic bag to try and form some sort of shape. The veg were nicely cooked but the odd ball thing were the pickled onions scattered through; in the gravy, on the beef... Not terrible but not what I expected and certainly not what I ordered. I’d rather have been told the dish wasn’t available so I could have ordered something else. I understand ingredient logistics, cost saving etc but I’d have paid more for the correct dish so to me it’s knowing your audience. If they won’t pay more, take it off the menu. I’m a chef, I value good quality.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and the food and service was amazing we will definitely return but will have to take our own full fat coke

Amazing selection of drinks, the staff are friendly and so are the locals. The atmosphere in there is friendly and there's always someone to share a pint with.

No sabía que este lugar existía y está a solo 10 minutos de mi casa. Pensé que lo intentaríamos y fue excelente. Un restaurante bastante grande, pero posiblemente estamos en la época más tranquila del año para el comercio, así que siempre nos aseguramos de salir y apoyar en esta época del año. 3 platos por £ 10 - Pensé que las fotos anteriores del menú deben haber estado desactualizadas, pero no lo estaban. La comida era deliciosa. Claramente recién preparado. La ensalada estaba muy bien aderezada. Ahora que sabemos de este lugar iremos regularmente.

Great food, friendly staff and very clean inside. We live away from the area and always have to get an Aroma Pizza when we visit!

Really good quality freshly cooked food, the scrambled eggs are to die for. Friendly helpful staff. Always a pleasure to visit.

I’ve collected from here before and it’s been amazing but VERY disappointed with delivery! The chicken and black bean was horrific…. Imagine drinking a bottle of soy sauce! The pancakes for the duck were cremated and the “egg foo young” was eggless

No sé quién ama este lugar más mi perro o yo. Viajamos de Grecia cada año al norte - este y este es su lugar favorito. Paseos antes o después de la comida y una salchicha gratis para ella. El fuego siempre está encendido y es realmente acogedor y auténtico campo británico. La comida es genial a veces desayunamos vamos a dar un paseo y luego antes de irnos a casa almorzamos o tomamos sopa para calentarnos. La selección de pasteles caseros es increíble y siempre tienen problemas para elegir uno. El personal es fantástico muy amable y acogedor. He traído muchos amigos aquí y siempre es un éxito

Found this nugget while travelling back to Yorkshire. What an amazing find ,fabulous food and the picky kids ate the lot.Lamb was too die for.Friendly staff and nothing to much.We will be back

A good takeaway other than unruly juveniles running about outside. Not the fault of the owners. Doesn't take cards. Cash only which is outdated and inconvenient.
