THE best Sunday roast I have ever had. Amazing quality and quantity. Excellent service. Friendly well attentive staff.

Excellent place to eat. Visiting two nights in a row speaks for itself. Great staff presenting lovely food in a great atmosphere.

We pre booked as a family of 6 for a Sunday lunch. This is the first time we had been since it being the Godfather but loved it as the Italian Farmhouse! The decor is so much more modern and the space feels a lot brighter. However there were several mistakes throughout the meal… drinks brought incorrectly and staff didn’t come across very accommodating to swap them. Then pasta was brought out instead of pizza for one of our younger guests. Finally veg and sides were missed from the roast for one guest with only a small ball of veg between the 3 of us having a roast. The chef said that vegetarians can’t have yorkshires or gravy or mash so sent none out… also, coffees were ordered with dessert but were not made. We spent over £100 for this meal and the food was relatively nice but we didn’t find the staff to be very friendly and the repeated mistakes made for a really disappointing meal out. There were tables around us with similar mistakes. We were all hoping for a lot more. Unfortunately, this previous local favourite is somewhere we won’t be returning and I would no longer recommend.

The food is exceptional, tastes and looks amazing, the staff are great, friendly, helpful and there at every time you need them at your pace and when you need them, so never rushed or left , plus there’s a great side bar for pre or after drinks if you want to mix it up , many thanks to all the staff and becks , will be back many times with me mam :)

Wow wow wow what an amazing place 😍 from the minute you walk through the door you are greeted with friendly and professional staff 👏 the restaurant is decorated beautifully and the food is simply gorgeous. The menu is amazing!! Well done to The Godfather you definitely deserve 5*plus

Absolutely loved our visit for a birthday celebration. From the moment we stepped through the door the guys made it special! The new owners have really put their stamp on the place, it’s beautifully decorated and has a real authentic feel to it, including that Italian charm from all the staff 😊 The food was delicious, everyone from the party chose different menu options and each of us were all thoroughly impressed. The service really was something else, they honestly could not do enough for us and really made our night, thank you all! I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it’s a must visit.

We must have been here more in the past couple of months than we have in the past 10 years! The team are so welcoming even when you book last minute and they are absolutely excellent with our young kids! Great service and consistently great food! Highly recommend and hope to be back soon! Went for my son’s birthday and thought as it’s new owners why not. OMG it was terrible,absolutely rubbish. In short the pizzas were dry,the chicken oven baked and tuff,I got a lobster ravioli and ate one bit and left the whole dish,tbh I’ve has ravioli ten times better from M & S. the cheese and tomato garlic bread was dry and wafer thin and practically no one ate a thing and senior staff never realised most of the food was sent back. Trust me this place isn’t good, Don’t waste your money trust me!!!

Found this restaurant close to our winter getaway hotel and what can I say the staff the food and the service was 1st class, very flavorful and hot food , and the portions were huge very reasonable priced . Thanks to all evolved .

Great little restaurant in a little village off the beaten track. The food is great, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is agreeable. It's best to book whenever you go but especially for dinner as it gets a bit busy. The car park isn't very big but there is space on the road. I've been a few times and would go back anytime.

Sorry, but I won’t be back. I was a regular at the Italian farmhouse, but hadn’t been for a couple of years. I was persuaded to go back based on the recent reviews, but I have to be honest, I was disappointed. It was a special family occasion and to be fair to the restaurant I did get the table that I asked for, which was nice, the only real positive. Unfortunately I thought the service was slow, we waited an hour for the main course, but quite happy if the food was going to be good. I ordered the signature dish, the camberoni, which was always my favourite dish. I’m sorry, but very very average and not the way it used to be. One of my guests had the pizza and in their words it was very doughy. Overall, I was very disappointed and thank God the company was good or it would have been a bad night.

This restaurant has ambience..great staff...and wonderfull food. I had one of the best Calzone I've ever had and my wife really enjoyed her Italian Chicken Supreme. Top marks from us both !! The place is a little hidden gem

We went for lunch for my husband’s birthday and it was excellent. The fixed price menu of £14.95 for three courses is brilliant value. We had the garlic mushrooms, chicken liver parfait, tagliatelle bolognese and pollo Pepe verde and then ran out of room for dessert otherwise it would have been profiteroles and lemon cheesecake too. The restaurant is warm, tastefully decorated, well laid out, comfortable and it wasn’t too busy so we had a lovely, long lunch followed by coffee. A special shout out to our waitress, Emily, who was friendly, efficient and very professional and a credit to the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Visited as a party of 17 to celebrate my Mam's 75th birthday. The food was great and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The Italian Farmhouse has always been a family favourite of ours, however following a couple of surprisingly negative experiences following reopening after the Covid crisis we had stayed away until recently. I understand the restaurant is now under new management and it certainly shows. We look forward to visiting again very soon.

I went here tonight , I’m currently saying at the Ramside hotel I found their prices crazy , so I decided to venture out and looked on TripAdvisor and found this little beauty only 7 minute drive, fantastic food, fantastic Price fantastic staff highly recommended

This was our first time visiting and it definitely won’t be our last! Such a lovely cosy place. The food is amazing! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and a credit to the management. Would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go back again!

The good first - The food was very good and the portions were generous. We started with the bruschetta al pomodoro - well plated and stacked with tasty ingredients (and plenty of garlic!). My wife had the lasagna and I had the penne pollo al rosso. Both were very well cooked and tasty as well. The menu had a number of good looking items and making a decision was difficult. We passed on desert. As the title of the review says: go for the food! The food we had was great. Things to work on - The table top was sticky to the point of distraction. In noticed a woman at another table had unfolded her serviette and spread it out so she could comfortably rest her forearms on her table. I followed suit. To be honest, I do not think it was a cleanliness issue as much as a table finish issue - it was tacky because it had the wrong finish for restaurant use (repeated cleaning). Also, there were fairy lights in an interesting-looking trellis on the ceiling - I would have liked to have seen them but they were not turned on even though it had become dark outside. Next, the service. Though it was not crowded, we felt ignored. There seemed to be a communication issue the evening we were there. New staff? Possibly. We are Americans and know that our accent can be difficult to understand by some (though we have lived in the UK 12 years) - this was our first trip to this part of England, so who knows. Case in point: I asked for a regular coke ("full fat" as well) and was offered PepsiMax - the waitress did not know it was a diet drink. Regular coke was on the menu but she did not say they were out, for what it was worth. I just went with water because I knew they had it. We waited a long time to be asked about desert - might have had some if they had asked soon after we finished with our main course. Finally, though it was table service, I needed to go to the waitstaff station to ask if we could pay our bill after waiting a long time for someone to come by. Perhaps it was just an off night. As you can see, I've commented before on the inability of the Management and staff but I thought that they'd picked their game up...This was not the case last night, Wednesday 11th of August 2021 when we booked and went there at 6.30pm to celebrate my wife's Birthday. My wife and I have used this restaurant for many years since the days of the delightful Turget and the lovely Lorraine so we have had our fair share of meals there. No more though! Whilst the serving staff were keen and pleasant, this didn't detract from the inadequacy of their present manager. Several items on the Menu were 'unavailable' , beers were warm as the cooler was broken, we had the last bottle of cider and last bottles of beer...I did expect at the least, an apology or even a small discount or complimentary drink but no, nothing! Well, that's our lot and the last recommendations we will ever give them...They may have painted it and replaced the table tops but that's not enough! Beware of the Manager!

Have gone a lot as a family group of 9 (4 Kids) and the staff and service is always good. The food is always nice and the only downside is two of the group like ales and since the reopening the bar area has not sold any ale just lagers which all taste the same. But always enjoy the meal and never feel rushed.

We were looking at an Italian themed meal and The Italian Farmhouse came up on the search engine. Booked on line, got the booking confirmation so it was a “goer”. Staff were amazing, food was great, well presented, ample and of a high quality. If I had any gripes, this being an old public house, I would have hoped for some good old English draught ales.

We went here for an evening meal recently and in fairness the good bits outnumbered the not so good bits.Not overly busy ( we were the last to enter at 7.45pm ) and seated quickly.First downer was the wine list... my wife likes Prosecco and was looking forward to us sharing a bottle...until we saw the lack of choice and the price! Pennies under £29 for the only bottle of Prosecco they offer?!?! Really? It matters not that it's organic.... the same bottle is readily available on line at between £9.50 and £11. A mark up of around £20 is shocking....... The alternative was a Rose Spumante ( No, thanks ). She settled for a gin cocktail, I had a beer.The food was good in all fairness and both main courses were excellent.I ordered the cheese board, my wife ordered the chocolate ganache and a cappucino. The cappucino arrived within 5 minutes. 2 minutes later we were told ' no ganache... '. Fair enough. We said the cheesboard would be fine and we'd share it. 5 minutes later a waitress came and told us ... ' No ganache left, sorry'. We told her we knew, that's fine and could we have the cheese we'd ordered, please? Nope.... 5 or 6 more minutes passed and no cheeseboard. The cappucino was now well finished and staff were nowhere to be seen. It wasn't busy....less than 6 tables were occupied.We'd waited long enough and I asked for the bill....10 seconds later the cheeseboard came but I told them it was far too late, we'd waited 15 minutes plus, just the bill.Surprise....the bill had both the cheeseboard and ganache charged on it and we had to get the waiter over to sort the issue and remove the cost.Not a great end to the evening, I'm sad to say., but I'm sure it was just a blip. I like the Italian Farmhouse.... but an Italian restaurant which only offers one solitary bottle of Prosecco?? and at nearly £30? On our last 2 visits we've left a £10 tip each time, but I'm sorry to say no tip this time.

We came for a family reunion meal, three couples on a Saturday evening meal. It was some time since we had last eaten here, but we were not disappointed. High quality food in generous portions with friendly and efficient service. And sensibly priced too..My Chicken Kiev was superb (and huge), with perfect hand cut chips. Everyone's main courses were excellent, and we ended up taking spare pizza home as we couldn't finish them. Great night out.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Alex the manager gave us fantastic service. The first night we were there Matt looked after us really well too. Highly recommended. We ate there 4 times over the week and every meal we had was fabulous. Fresh and flavoursome ingredients. The chef does a great job. Despite just reopening after Covid restrictions lifting and with new staff the service was great. If you are staying close by well worth a visit. The early bird and lunch deals are good value. Can’t praise it enough. Keep up the good work.

Visited last Friday for happy hour. Got there for 6:30 and wasn’t acknowledged for 10 minutes as staff walked past multiple times. We had booked so they knew we were coming. Also witnessed this happen to two other couples who arrived after us who had also booked. Finally sat down and a drinks order taken. 15 minutes went past with no drinks and another waitress then asked to take our drinks order again. We notified them we had already done it but it didn’t seem to hurry them. We waited a further 15 for our drinks to actually come to the table. The restaurant was busy ish (not full) with three waiting staff and it took 50 minutes from arriving for someone to take our food order. I understand sometimes there is a wait for busy restaurants but from working in the restaurant business myself knew there was more than enough staff to deal with the few tables that were in. Waiting staff made it impossible to catch their eye to take our order either. We ordered and our food came quite quickly. This is their saving grace as the food was delicious. Tasty and quickly prepared. We had bruschetta and potato skins to start and then spicy meat (can’t remember the exact name) pizza and a gamberoni for main. Good potion sizes too. I think this could be an amazing place to visit but would be hesitant to again because of the service we received. It definitely lets down the food as it could be 5* if the waiting staff were more organised. Also noticed a lot of tables stood with dirty dishes and not cleaned for the duration of our visit after other customers left. Very sad that I probably wouldn’t visit again anytime soon as I’ve heard the same feedback about service from other people I know who have visited. A bit disappointed unfortunately.

Amazing food at a good price. I’m a bit picky but the staff are really friendly when you ask about making changes to your order. Parking is not fantastic as it’s on a main road but I’d rather walk and have a drink with my food anyway. Good Covid rules, felt safe

We visited late last year and had an okay meal but in view of our episode at Ravello in Lanchester we decided to cross them of our list ( the owner/chef doesn't like any form of criticism as his messages to me showed! ) and thought we'd give The Italian Farmhouse another go.So pleased we did. Service was very good and they observed social distancing.We had a smiley, happy server who was chatty and helpful.Drinks were very good and reasonably priced, not always the case!Starters were excellent as were the mains...and I have to say my mixed grilled fish was superb. 6 different types of seafood, all grilled perfectly and a million miles better than the offering at Ravello. Excellent value too at under £16!!Desserts were equally good and were freshly mad, not the ubiquitous bought in stuff that some places dish up.All in all a great choice for an Italian meal and coming in at only 2/3 of the price of Lanchester's Italian eatery The Italian Farmhouse is our first choice from now on.

OMG booked a table for 12noon yesterday, got there a couple of minutes early it was raining heavily and the doors weren't open. Once inside we were shown to a table in the conservatory given a menu and asked if we wanted any drinks, we asked for a wine list and was told that it hadn't been typed up yet so we asked for a bottle of Valpolicella we were informed that they did not have that wine. Who would guess a Italian Restaurant that doesn't sell Italian wine. We ordered a bottle of Merlot not knowing what we were going to get or how much it was going to cost. Looking around my husband said "Is that a piece of bread on the windowsill" and sure enough there was bread on the windowsill looking closer here was also crumbs on a couple of the tables. The hygiene didn't look very promising considering the VIRUS. We ordered antipasti which was v. nice and fillet steak for main course. One cooked medium rare and the other blue, both came cooked rare/blue the peppercorn sauce was more like gravy and had some weird white bits in it that I hope were chopped garlic. As we left the couple on the table behind us sent food back because it was "clay cold". I'm not surprised as the place was heaving and there appeared to be only two waitresses. Head Office take note the wall of wood has chunks missing, the paper is hanging off the walls and the carpet is absolutely filthy. Overall the place could do with a good clean and refurbishment.

Throughout lockdown I got takeaway Sunday dinners from the Italian Farmhouse. I was not disappointed, the food was amazing, the portions were massive. Absolutely brilliant, the gravy is to die for. I have continued to have their Sunday dinners since it has reopened and remain greatly impressed

Had an evening meal recently at this restaurant in a group of four.We booked a table and were seated approx 15 mins after our booked time.The menu was a reduced one but with good choices particularly pizza and pasta.Once we had ordered our starters a wait of 45 mins for them to arrive is too long.The mains arrived approx 15 mins after the starters.The food was lovely and having been here before when the service was poor on that occasion it is disappointing to find the same problem with service.Would i recommend the food - yes it was lovely, just improve the service

Used to eat here a few years ago and never disappointed, been back the last 2 weeks for Sunday lunch and still not disappointed, also have great friendly staff.

Food and service is great. Enjoy a fine Gin from Poetic Licence which is stocked here. The staff made sure social distancing was being observed and kept cleaning tables down as soon as people left

We normally go to Coxhoe Italian farmhouse tonight however, it was fully booked. So we opted for the West Rainton restaurant. We booked for 5pm and the restaurant was quiet. I must admit the restaurant didnt seem overly cautious and certainly weren't over the top with the all the new added safe precautions. Which I must admit I enjoyed it, the staff worn no PPE and yet I felt safe and content. I've worked throughout lock down as front line emergency service worker, so the laid back approach suited me. Service was very good, lovely staff, prompt service. Food was fantastic, garlic bread for starters, mains of mixed grills, fillet steaks and spag bol were great and we made a pig of ourselves and had a dessert . Really can't complain about any part of the meal. The S43 brewery provide the beer for the restaurant. They had a draft beer on which was lovely. However, it was sad to see they only stock one beer. As the others dont sell so well at the restaurant. Which I understand. Food & drinks £105.00. Reduced to £65.00 with 'eat out to help out' We'll be back but probably to Coxhoe. It's closer lol!

Lovely lockdown takeaway to celebrate my partner’s 50th birthday. Lots of choice, different specials every weekend, good quality and plenty of it. Exceptional service and good response to messages. We’ll be back. Thank you 😊

Came for dinner for two adults & one child. The Sunday dinners are too die for. Service is always 10/10. (I think people find any thing to moan about) . We come every other Sunday and we are yet too find any thing to moan about. Very shocked to find the place almost empty but obviously due too corona virus. Normally can’t see an empty seat. Thanks so much for your service & beautiful food.
