The best restaurants in Nunhead Southwark London

Have wanted to try for ages and it didn't disappoint at all. The food and drinks were amazing and the ambience is great. The ox cheeks are to die for!

We went here to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. Great little place with a chilled vibe. The staff were so attentive and the food was delicious. We had a starter each which we shared, followed by 2 small meat plates, fries and a vegetable plate which was plenty. I finished with, I think it was called Beef Fat Brownie which was very good. Nice to support small businesses. Can definitely recommend.

We were driving our son & partner back to their hotel in Deptford & looking for late night food. We spotted this takeaway along Queens Road & decided to try it. Staff were friendly & the place looked clean. We ordered our food at the counter & they cook it in front of you. My wife has a gluten & dairy free diet but it was well catered for. We chose chicken kebabs without pitta, with salads & the food was delicious.

Honestly the best brunch i’ve had in south london in a while. We got the works which cost us £15 each which came with the most delicious french toast and fresh cream. It was honestly divine, paired with the rest of the food it came together perfectly. We live in kent so it is now our staple spot whenever we spend the weekend in london. Service was very efficient and the workers were so kind and helpful. The only disappointment was that i don’t believe the staff receive the service charge which is not right to me personally as i believe they are very deserving of that extra thank you. This place is always busy and the staff always keep on top of the rushes!

Terrible standard of food and service these days, whilst other bakeries keep getting better

This place is amazing. Run by a lovely Portuguese couple, passionate about great home cooked food and a genuine welcome.

Went with partner and his parents, took advantage of happy hour drinks between 5-7pm, everything £5. We went for craft lager, but cocktails sounded tempting too. We all enjoyed our pizzas. Reasonably priced and well cooked. Very friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere. Book tables at the back if you’re with people who can’t manage high stools.

I made orders with “Golden Poor service Chinese restaurant in Queens Road Peckham“ On three occasions and they completely messed up my Orders and time by giving me the food with key ingredients missing.I actually gave them 3 chances. They have poor customer services with rude body language. Don’t waste your money and time👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

🚇 Nunhead 🍺 £6.50 Camden Hells The Golden Anchor is located in a residential area in Nunhead, Southeast London. The nearest station is Nunhead mainline. This pub was built in 1867 and looks that it may have been altered at some point in the 1930’s. This pub may look familiar to you, as it featured on Tom Kerridge's “Saving Britains Pubs” series back in 2020. This is a spacious two bar pub that has the main bar located at the front and a similar sized bar located at the rear. The decor here is contemporary with an eclectic mix of colourful and traditional furniture and bold fixtures and fittings. Just by the servery in the front bar is a table of dominoes which is a regular fixture here. At the front of the pub is a cosy outside space with parasols. The beer line up was all keg and included familiar mainstream brands. I decided on a Camden Hells lager, my pint hit the spot, price point was a tad above average. This pub has served food in the past, but I couldn’t see a food menu when I visited. We arrived just after 5pm on a warm Saturday afternoon in July. The pub had not long opened and was fairly quiet with one other local punter in attendance. We got talking to the Landlady and a member of the bar team, both were friendly and welcoming. It would seem this place comes alive in the evenings, it opens most days late afternoon and has a late license at weekends. This pub shows sport on Sky and TNT, has Dominoes practice three nights a week, Vinyl nights on a Thursday and Karaoke and DJ nights. As highlighted in the series with @cheftomkerridge , pubs are still facing a tough time of it, so it was great to see @thegoldenanchorpub surviving in this difficult climate.
