Na Pura in Southwark

This place is amazing. Run by a lovely Portuguese couple, passionate about great home cooked food and a genuine welcome.

Las weekend I made a reservation for lunch at Napura, via their website which was confirmed seconds later. On a freezing cold Sunday me, my husband and our 1 year old son left home, made an 1h30 public transport journey and when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed! We were completely appalled by the lack of organization and attention to their clients. Suddenly, at 1pm we were left in the cold with our baby in the middle of nowhere in London (there are very few places to eat around) and had to make another 40min journey to have lunch. I sent them a message and asked them what was the reason for such unexpected closure, giving them the chance to explain themselves. One week has passed and no response back, just a complete indifference to our ruined weekend. Such a terrible experience. Will never go back neither recommend.

Popped into this place on spec, we have walked past a thousand times before, discovered the lovely little covered rear garden area and excellent food. Super relaxed, friendly, family atmosphere, portugese home cooking style food, top quality ingredients. Super. Another excellent credit to Nunhead, an area that never fails to impress with quality food and produce.

...Napura. So we have made it into the last half of the alphabet and where better to start than this little cosy place in Nunhead. It is probably the smallest restaurant we've eaten in which definitely had a family feel to it. The food, the atmosphere, the staff were all amazing. The only thing letting them down were the choice of drinks. We wouldn't normally do the rice and chips combo and I'm not sure if it's a "Portuguese" thing but it worked!! The dishes were great. We visited in the evening and were able to park really close by for free. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Eating at this restaurant to night was disappointing. Service was very slow arrived at 5 past 7 and left at 10:15 pm rude staff, charged for a desert I didn't get, waited an hour for a cup of tea. When I remarked you aren't having a good night to the waiter after he tried to short change me. He told the owner. She said if they don't like it, they can piss off. She didn't think I heard her. Will not be returning to this Restaurant! Surprised they are still open with that attitude!

I placed the order online, but because no confirmation was forthcoming I called to hear that they hadn’t see the order. I ordered cod with cream and pork with clams with a side of fries but got rice instead and the pork was so tough. But the worst was finding a hair strand on the cod. Not what you’d expect for £36.30! I left a comment on the website about the hair but got no reply or apology, hence I decided to leave this review here. Needless to say I won’t be eating at or ordering from them again.

Vivo en la localidad de Napura y quería aprovechar el programa Eat Out. La comida definitivamente no valía la pena el precio. El postre fue peor: tuve una mousse que era esencialmente líquida. Sin embargo, la peor parte de la experiencia fue, con mucho, el personal condescendiente y condescendiente. Llegamos 10/15 minutos tarde, y aunque acepto que esto fue un inconveniente y no lo ideal, todavía no espero que me regañen como si fuera una colegiala, especialmente cuando hay muchas mesas disponibles. Del mismo modo, cuando teníamos que irnos, nos regañaron y condescendieron por querer pagar por separado. Hay muchos restaurantes agradables y agradables con excelente comida en la zona. Yo no voy a volver.

We were really looking forward to a night in our neighbourhood however, upon arrival the rude waitress told us that there is no booking with our name (we did have a confirmation email though) and she told us that the restaurant didn't accept the booking even though it was made via their website and we had a confirmation email. Then she offered us a table about half a metre away from another table (social distancing?!) but didn't give us any menus. We got ignored for another 20 minutes until one of us got up and asked another waitress if we could have a menu and order drinks which was when she told us if we want we can look online on their website for the menu.... We got up and left! Never again

Came here for the first time today, and enjoyed a great meal - beautiful combinations of flavours, with very high quality ingredients. The staff are friendly and attentive while managing to maintain a relaxed atmosphere, and the decor is tasteful and stylish. It also felt very safe, with plenty of space between tables and lots of sanitiser etc available. Would definitely recommend!

Stopped here and enjoyed first meal out since lockdown. Grilled whole sea bass and chicken were both delicious. Great selection of wines to choose from. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back (without a car next time to enjoy the wine ) The restaurant is nipping clean and felt very safe

Interesting Portuguese style food, cooked to order so not instant (but in their pleasantly quiet restaurant right on Nunhead Green the wait is never a problem). This last lunchtime visit, three of us had seafood rice, beef stew and pork and clams. All were very generous portions and deliciously well cooked. We will return, hopefully often.

This Portuguese restaurant has a lovely outside area. Me, my partner and baby came here and the managers were so welcoming. We had the beef skewers to start with which were amazing and calamari with dip which was cooked perfectly. For my main I had peri peri chicken and it was splendid. Highly recommend we will be back

Very tasty authentic food! Amazing garden at the back of the restaurant with a bar. The chorizo and bacalau to start with was amazing, and then the peri peri chicken was exactly what you'd get at a local Portuguese frango house, brilliant!

I have been coimg here for years, this is where I come and bring friends and family members when they come to visit. It's traditional home cooked dishes and it always comes with that wooowwww factor. The food is always cooked to perfection and always so well presented... You all must try it out because we just can't get enough of it.

Wonderful evening at Napura restaurant based in Nundhead Se15 3QF, home-made food with fresh quality ingredients made to perfection also with a selection of some of best portugueses wines was until this moment the best experience in a Portuguese restaurant in London. All the staff is friendly and dedicated to providing you with the best stay and experience they make you feel in a friendly environment and warm atmosphere perfect spot for families, friends, couples and parties also if you are alone I am sure you will get a wonderful time there. The restaurant also has a very cozy back garden with a more relaxed atmosphere perfect for chilling after work or even for a party atmosphere. I recommend you to visit the NAPURA restaurant which is very popular and respected by all locals, loyal customers as well as by the as by customers who travel from farther away just to enjoy the cozy atmosphere of this place and savor their dishes wonderfully cooked

We regularly frequent this restaurant in Nunhead with friends and family. Lovely people, fantastic home cooked food and good wine. The fish dishes are fantastic especially the octopus. The beef dish is a favourite with my Mum and I'm very partial to the pork cheeks. Its definitely worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Me gustaría que fuera del personaje del restaurante y no quiero una mala experiencia que empañe su reputación. Dicho esto, la experiencia y la falta de voluntad del personal y del gerente para comprometerse con la situación se hicieron para la peor experiencia culinaria.

I visited this restaurant as a valentines treatOn arrival we waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged,once seated it took a further 20 minutes with much prompting to then have our order of drinks taken but was told Sangria of the menu. So ordered Sagres another 10 minutes passed before two bottles of super bock were dumped on the table. A table of 10 informed us that they had been waiting 1 hour and hadn’t been served food. There was a lot of activity serving drinks in their beer garden area and also take away service. But very little in the small restaurant at the front. Five other people came to dine but once again no urgency in greeting/seating so they left to eat next door. We were then told they were staff down and that was the reason for the delay. After over a hour and half finally received a incorrect and incomplete starter order. The table of 10 received food in dribs and drabs and some food had sat on the counter for more than 10 minutes. Let’s get to the finale of the evening. I had still not received mains and decided that I had waited long enough. The elder of the two waitresses became enraged and rude when the table of 10 felt that a deduction to their bill should be made due to the wait/service/and delivery at different times. This only angered her even more and she felt outraged that this suggestion had been made. At this point I left cash on the table for which I felt was adequate for food service etc I had received and left. My husband was inside waiting to give an explanation. At this point a couple of the other party stood outside whilst others inside tried to come to a fair agreement over payment when at this point the waitress locked them in and told them she was ringing the police. I felt this was a disgraceful and threatening way to behave towards young adults who were not trying not to pay but had only asked for a fair reduction. This carried on for a further half hour with a lot of shouting from now both waitresses. They were finally let out when a agreement was made which meant £5 per person was deducted from quite a large original bill.

Llevé a mi novia portuguesa aquí por el día V y tuvimos una gran noche, ella calificó el bacalou y yo tuvimos un cordero encantador. El servicio fue justo en el lado correcto de amistosos y disfrutamos de la pequeña vuelta atrás para un café y un maricón prandial post. Muy recomendable, obrigado!

Mis amigos y yo visitamos este restaurante, en primer lugar no podíamos creer el increíble precio de la comida, sin embargo, una vez que probamos la comida, esperábamos pagar mucho más. La comida es insuperable en esta pequeña joya secreta. Es auténtico, sabroso y tradicional.

Acabo de regresar de la cena del sábado por la noche con los padres y la novia. Increíble. La comida fabulosa y muy buena selección en el menú. Fui con mi novio, la comida parecía absolutamente deliciosa que era difícil escoger lo que queríamos pero definitivamente recomendaría el chorizo y mi favorito de pastelería, pastel de nata. Gran servicio para rematar!

Me sorprendería que significa venir aquí por un tiempo, y era tan feliz que finalmente me dieron vuelta. Gran marisco (recomiendo el bacalao) y postres muy agradable. Además, pude probar su versión del clásico portugués pastel de nata (crema pastelera tarta). Delicioso.

Good service, simple menu with enough options whilst remaining easy to choose from. Food was very tasty and good quality, the only drawback was a lack of atmosphere as at the time it was empty and had no music or background noise.

Good, hearty, unpretentious food. All delicious too. A good selection of items on the menu. We had prawn, squid and peppers skewers and steak with an egg on top. Both cooked perfectly and delicious. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. No idea why the restaurant was empty when we got there but their take away trade seemed to be doing well. It is a little off the beaten track but we drove and parked directly outside with no problem. Would definitely recommend it.

Really enjoyed the food at this family restaurant. Lots to choose from and the steak with an egg on was perfectly cooked. Would eat again.

Es un encantador restaurante situado en Nunhead con comida muy buena portugués. Tanto el pollo y el pescado son excelentes! El vino también es muy bueno y bien de precio. La única pega es el servicio, que puede ser bastante lenta. En general, un muy buen restaurante.

Esta es la tercera vez que vamos allí y la comida es consistentemente delicioso. El menú ha cambiado recientemente con añadidos como el pulpo y el cerdo carrillada, que probamos. He tenido un montón de pulpo en mi vida, pero no creo que haya probado un perfectamente cocinada. Asimismo, la carrillada de cerdo. El cóctel de verano con puerto blanco es refrescante y precioso. Ahora hay una zona de jardín, que es muy bonito y muy bien aislado. Y para añadir a la diversión, la gente que dirige el restaurante es encantador y se preocupan mucho acerca de su restaurante, que ha sido abierto y bajar por más de 10 años, y sobre cómo los clientes se sientan en este entorno.

Este es un maravilloso y amable, auténtico restaurante sirve deliciosa comida portuguesa. Teníamos chouriço assado (perfectamente picante) y ensalada de pollo (enorme! ) para empezar, y açorda de marisco (increíble) y bacalhau tricolor: (deliciosos). No esperes una experiencia restaurante pulido, pero disfrutar el amor. Fuimos en una zona muy tranquila de miércoles y recibió nieto del chef muy joven, pero eso es lo que son unos restaurantes familiares. Tuvimos una maravillosa comida de cumpleaños, pero volveremos con la familia la próxima vez que estemos en Londres. Muchas gracias!

Real Portugease comida donde el personal se vuelca para hacer platos fuera del menú. Buenos vinos también.

A menudo hemos tenido comida para llevar y las entregas de Napura y han sido excelente durante un número de años. Hoy fuimos con dos amigos para una comida. Los primeros, los langostinos, las salchichas, y rissoles todos deliciosos. El pollo piri piri que tres de nosotros tuvimos fueron geniales. . . :: me gusta muy caliente piri piri y Manuela obligados por llevar un bote de salsa adicional que quemaba. Uno de los del grupo tenía una hamburguesa que estaba también por encima de la media. Teníamos un plato de pan caliente, aceitunas y aceite y vinagre para picar entre horas. . . . . de nuevo. . . Bastante impecable. Tres horas de comer bien en un ambiente cómodo. El servicio era acogedor y amable. Las raciones eran. . . . . .omg no puedo comer todo eso. . . . Pero puedes. . . . . no caminar después.

Mi pareja y yo hemos comido en la mayoría de los zona, east dulwhich (dulwhich, peckham) restaurantes y pubs y decidimos probar algo nuevo tras una cerveza en la Tienda de la cerveza (debe ser probado). No había servicio de lujo frente a la casa, pero un miembro de la familia de los pedidos y sirve comida. Ella era dulce y ofreció algunas aceitunas y pan mientras espera por la comida. Teníamos la Red house, que era fácil de beber. Para empezar, tuvimos la repostería y el rey cod salteados langostinos estaban deliciosos y una porción enorme sólo por 6. 50!

We were so looking forward to a local Portuguese dinner... The food and service were both terrible. We understand the service being slow (there was a big table, and the waitress was apologetic, it's OK) but there's no excuse for the poor quality of the food. The prawns were not fresh, the squid was very rubbery and carne the porco a alentejana is a very traditional dish and most certainly not served with chips and rice!! The green beans tasted like they'd been cooked for hours. It's a shame as family owned places are rare these days, but they really need to try harder.

I think the food is really nice specially the prawns starter..portions can be a bit small comparing with other Portuguese restaurants I've been to in London and price is reasonable..I do like the fact that they have take away and they quite quick..definitely recommend perfect for lunch or dinner

We have wanted to go here for quite some time. The service was very poor, the dishes weak. The starters felt rushed, the main of chicken in a mushroom sauce was ok but just a bit bland and flat. There was no care to it. The lamb was overdone with green beans which tasted like they were out of a tin. I love to support local restaurants but this was hard to love. Also on arrival no music just silence with staff on laptops working - it felt like an office lock in.

We booked to have our Christmas lunch here. To make life easier half of us had pre ordered, the other half still got there food promptly. The Calamaria was perfect, not rubbery at all and just a light coating of batter. Main course of lamb shank not bad either. The steaks looked amazing and the chef was happy to cook it in a different way or provide a sauce when asked. Everyone commented that the food was tasty and good value for money. It's not meant to be posh it's Portuguese home cooking. The house white was very nice to wash it all down. I would like to go back again and try some of the other dishes. Nice afternoon out before the Christmas break.

Ordered take away and it was very tasty genuine food, just like home, in generous servings and good prices!

We visited on friday evening as a table of 6 booked for 8pm. We ordered very quickly.... The starters didn't arrive for an HOUR & then after another 45 mins we asked for the bill as absolutely no sign of the mains coming. No sorry no explanation from the server..... so so poor. The food: the calamari was thick and doughy - massively over cooked & inedible. The lamb chops and green beans were fab, so we're the sautéed king prawns. House red wine was delicious.... just the wait let it down so so much, disappointing and won't be returning when the standard of food locally is so much higher.

Went online looking for the usual Friday curry and found Napura on Just Eat. No regrets. Arrived on time and a very pleasant surprise. Ribs were tender and tasty, but pork with clams and giant prawns really great - v tender and tasty. Ignore reviews about oily food. This was spot on. Only minus were the chips, but probably inevitable ordering takeaway. Order the rice and enjoy a great alternative takeaway. We will be checking out the stair ant itself very soon

Our waiter was pleasant and the atmosphere calm, quiet and relaxed. There isn't a huge amount of choice on the menu but what we had - Portuguese dumpling and some very tasty, well cooked meat dishes, were extremely generous portions. There was no wine list just a explanation of the choice of two nameless reds, but the one we chose was actually lovely (the cheaper one, and the only one available by the glass) No room for pud although the choices looked good. Might go again.

If you don't dine out a lot (at good restaurants) this place is fine, its better than fine. But as I do, I found this place awful if I'm honest.The service was below what I expect in a greasy spoon, a age to get served and I can honestly say I would serve better than the staff that was on tonight. We waited forever and it was strictly amateur hour, ensuring one has trained staff, even if its in the basic is essential, as it can ruin a night.The food itself was served after I gave up hope it would arrive. Now the food is OK, anyone who knows about this type of cuisine would tell you its OK, but given the number of Portuguese eateries in London, there's no way I would come here unless I lived in Nunhead ( I don't, so I wont)The Sea Bass was good, but the Piri Chicken was Nando quality.There was a strange pay what you like set up with the wine that made no sense, no wine list so I gambled on the house red, which was surprisingly good. My partner had vino verdi which again was good. It would have been better to know what we were drinking before it was poured out for us, no taster and it was not a new bottle....The decor is rather tasteless and bland....Given that Nunhead is the new Shoreditch and this place has the eating heights of Baazar and the numerous restaurants of Bellenden, I fear this place wont last long amongst the beards and hipsters of SE15

Visited on Saturday with family and had a great meal. There was a really friendly welcome when we arrived and the food was really good. It was also great value too.

Ordered on just eat. Went in to collect my order, turns out they hadn't even looked at my order and hadn't started cooking it. Waitress's was not helpful, had to ask her more than once to see how long it would take. They said 15 mins so I left and came back 20 minutes later and my order still wasn't ready. I finally receive my food after waiting another 10 mins and the chicken is over cooked and dry. The rice container was barely filled. The only good thing was the salad. Overall will never order from this place again or eat in.

We really enjoyed our meal at Napura. Started with squid which was really well cooked. Then had a delicious meal which a little too much to finish - v delicious though. It's good to have good food so local.

My husband and I had just finished a 4 hour stint on our allotment...working until it had got dark...On the trudge home we passed Napura, which we had been willing to open soon as we love all thing Portuguese. We sheepishly stepped in hoping our garden tools and muddy clothes wouldn't put off the owner but we were welcomed in with a massive smile. We ordered takeaway and sat down and were bought a glass of complimentary wine and then rather than take away, we were encouraged to stay and eat. The food was great. We went for the 2 fish dishes. Good home cooking and good conversation with Carlos the owner. We have been back since and received the same great hospitality from another member of the family! Really happy to have some cuisine from one of our favourite countries on our doorstep. I hope it continues to thrive. Nat & Ben

Finally made it in to the new Napura restaurant. Food was very tasty and the wine was particularly good. We went with a baby and we felt very comfortable and welcome. Sea food rice dish was like eating in Lisbon, and atmosphere was charming. Would have given 5stars if there was a good vegetable option.

Nine of us had an enjoyable and inexpensive lunch - plenty of choice on the menu, from vegetarian through fish and meat dishes, and very friendly owner and staff. I would like to have had desert but for lunchtime, at least, I was too full. The restaurant is on a lively, small green quite near the nature reserve that is Nunhead Cemetery (where we walked) and about 10 minutes from Nunhead station.

Went to this small Portuguese restaurant on Nunhead Green with our daughter - lovely welcome. Interior is clean and simple - only criticism it's not very cosy.Varied menu with lots of meat and fish dishes, served with rice or homemade chips (which were delicious).We had calamari to start along with some small fish croquettes and prawn dumplings - all really good, crispy and fresh.Main courses: rice with seafood, pork and clams stew with rice and baby pork ribs with chips - all delicious and clean plates at end.Too full for dessert but they have all the Portuguese specials including pata de natas (custard tarts) and flan.Would recommend for sure!

Just come back from an absolutely delightful meal at the wonderful Na Pura. Na Pura is a warm and welcoming family run restaurant, I suggest going with a big appetite because the generous servings of the lovely Portuguese food will certainly satisfy! We had tasty and more-ish baby back ribs and the pork, clam and prawn dish which was fresh and full of flavour. We will be returning to this little Nunhead hotspot.

We had a lovely bottle of white wine (alandra), the most amazing prawn starter we have had in a long time, good main courses and a very tasty, freshly made pasteis de nata. Try it!

Nunhead was desperately in need of a food led establishment that is open into the evening so I'm glad Napura has opened. The food is full of flavour, and reasonably priced. The portions were the perfect size for me, I didn't leave feeling too full up or hungry. The service was missing that wow factor but then again it's not fine dining so an acceptable service overall. I will be returning.

Absolutely incredible food, reminded me of holidays in Portugal. Very friendly staff. Delivery was a little slow, but it was a busy night.
