We had our NHS Christmas party at the old Nunshead, it was a great night, staff were very helpful and very kind to all of us, they provided us with complimentary drinks, food was very nice! I would highly recommend the old Nunshead for events, we will for sure go back!

I organised to have my birthday celebrations with 25 friends at the Old Nuns Head past Saturday, and had the most wonderful (and easy!) experience. Booking the spot for the large group was simple and free, and the staff was super helpful both before and during the evening. On the night the music was excellent (the regular music and when the DJ played!), vibes and the growd were great, bar and security staff friendly, and the night was just so spot on. All my friends raved how great the night was and how we must come back soon for a dance & karaoke. Thank you to the team - we shall be back ❤️‍🔥

Got charged a service charge on top of my food for sunday roast. My friend walked up 30 seconds later and wasn’t charged the service charge. Why am I charged 4 pounds more for the same thing?

Love this pub - have been twice for the pub quiz which is a lot of fun. Staff are really nice. Always love a pub with an open fire and the food is also solid. I got the bacon cheese burger which I really enjoyed. Hope pub’s like this always stay open

🚇 Nunhead 🍺 £6.60 Sonar Session IPA The Old Nun’s Head is one of three pubs located on Nunhead Green just south of Peckham in Southeast London. The nearest station is Nunhead, it’s ten minute walk to get here. This pub dates from the early 18th century, the present Tudor-style building dates from 1934. The pub remained closed for several years at the start of the 21st century and reopened in 2007, it is now run by Brighton brewers Laine. The decor here is traditional and retains many original period features whilst adding a few contemporary touches here and there. This is a one bar pub with a central servery which is accessible from three adjoining rooms. The walls are clad is stunning wood panels which continue around in every room. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, leather banquettes and an original 1930’s booth. In homage to the pub’s name there is a colourful mural of a nun as well as a couple of nun inspired artworks. At the back of the pub is a partially covered courtyard beer garden and also a large pavement seating area at the front. The beer selection offers a mix of mainstream brews, craft and cask options plus a range of @lainebrewco beers. I decided to try out the Sonar Session IPA, my pint was great if a little pricey. The food menu is Burgers and Hotdogs with a choice of fries and sides, roasts are available on a Sunday. We arrived around 1.30pm on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in July. The main bar was fairly quiet with the majority of punters sat at the front of the pub. The atmosphere was laidback with a local pub feel. The pub host Karaoke and live events and livens up of an evening. The service was on point, the team member who served us was welcoming and pleasant. Lots of positives to take away from @theoldnunshead . I loved the interwar decor and period features. The pub had a calming vibe and a broad range of beers. Visitando a la familia en la zona y como esto estaba a poca distancia elegimos aquí para comer. Ventajas: - Se ve encantador desde fuera y las bebidas estaban bien Desventajas: - Las mesas y el suelo muy pegajoso La cena asada estaba bien nada especial y si te gusta la salsa estarás bien, pero no podía resolver lo que estaba comiendo, ya que había tanto espeso, salsa oscura. Tampoco hacía mucho calor. Estoy sorprendido con todas las excelentes críticas, ya que podría ser un pequeño pub brillante, pero creo que atienden más a la comunidad LGBTQIA. Justo la vibra que tengo.

Absolutely love this place the staff are the happiest about. Such a warm welcome and open arms to the whole community. The food here changes in the week and then they serve roasts Sundays love it here you’ll see me here all the time!

We had our wedding reception here and couldn’t have chosen a better place. Everyone is so friendly - the vibes were on point. There was a huge disco ball and customisable lighting which meant we didn’t have to add too much to make it an amazing room for a party! We were truely able to add our own twist which was great. The food was exceptional, all of our guests were so impressed. The congratulations board outside was such a beautiful touch and really demonstrates attention to detail and how the small things make a huge difference. Side note I also come regularly for the roast which is genuinely the best roast in London. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly, well worth a visit - to host a party/wedding or as a guest!!

El personal más agradable en cualquier pub, buena selección de bebidas y buena música. Nos dieron comida que era encantador con un montón de opciones veganas, que era genial también. Lo recomendaría y si estás en la zona tienes que visitar este lugar.

Came across this quirky venue whilst visiting family in the area. The Manager Ally, was very welcoming and chatty, especially when she realised we were from the North of England. The food was amazing, well cooked, and presented. We returned on the Sunday to try the Sunday lunch. What a treat you gave to try it.

Could not fault the friendly service, staff are easy to talk too and quality of food amazing. Service with a smile 😊 burgers are to die for.

Wow what a find. Visited family new to this area, and this venue was recommended by their neighbours. The host Ally was such a laugh, and her Sunday lunches to die for.

I absolutely love The Old Nuns Head, most friendly staff in a London pub, food is always lovely, especially the Sunday roast and they have the best queer and inclusive events south of the river. It’s also very dog friendly with a dog wall of fame where you can get a Polaroid of your pooch added during your visit!

The best pub around with backyard garden and fun events every week. Staff is so lovely and the ambiance is just perfect, exactly what you want from your neighbourhood pub! The Sunday roast is a must, best one I’ve had!

Wir waren hier für einen Sunday Roast. Als fleischfreie Alternative gibt es dort sehr guten veggie/vegan Haggis. Große Portion mit reichlich Soße. Wenn’s voll ist, kanns hier wirklich sehr laut werden, aber bei schönem Wetter kann man auch draußen sitzen. Leider ist der Service nicht ganz auf Zack, aber ansonsten ist der Pub zu empfehlen.

Friendly pub, lovely staff, can accommodate for private functions

Had a great vegan roast here on a Sunday — the main was vegan haggis, which was delicious. Every other aspect of the dish was perfectly prepared, hot and fresh. All my friends enjoyed their non vegan roasts too. It was also lovely and quiet which meant we could chat and hear each other talk, which was really nice. I'd absolutely return!

We recently had our wedding reception at the Old Nun's Head and cannot recommend it enough! We booked out the function room upstairs as well as the back garden, which was perfect for our group of about 80 guests. Allie was so great and fun to work with throughout, and the entire team were lovely and super accommodating, especially when we arrived late and had to push everything back. All our guests were going on about how great the food and wine was, and we all had the most fun dancing the night away upstairs. We would highly, highly recommend this pub for any private events as Allie and the team will absolutely smash it. Garcia and Laki xxx

My family and I had the most wonderful experience at The Old Nags Head pub. We were in a bind and needed a last-minute reservation for Sunday roast with our children, and they were more than accommodating. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The customer service was top-notch, and the food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and we all felt right at home. I can't recommend The Old Nags Head enough and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for a fantastic dining experience!

Lovely Pub for a Sunday Roast. We walked in first thing when they opened, so managed to grab a seat. Most tables have been booked, so would recommend doing so before hand. Friendly staff and really good food, I opted for the beef roast, came with, veg and cheesy cauliflower which tasted delicious. Gravy came in abundance.

Some great beer from Laine brewery in Brighton which I enjoyed. We went for Sunday lunch. Booking essential. Friendly staff but about a 50min wait for food - they were busy. Sunday roast was good but the gravy was doing a lot of work in the flavour, personally I prefer to let the meat stand out.

Came here for an event - lovely staff and vibes, absolutely would return. It was a bit cramped for the number of people we had there, but that's not really a fault of the place. I was slightly sad they didn't have a pool table, although again I understand that takes up a lot of space. The food is absolutely fantastic, and I highly recommend the cauliflower wings.

Easily one of the best pubs in London. Such a welcoming vibe! Reasonably priced drinks/ food. Such a friendly team. My mum has hated pubs as long as I remember but absolutely loves this one, she says it still has that old community vibe pubs used to have when she was young. Cannot recommended this pub enough!!

Great pub but poor quality food, very salty, missing the nice bits of a Sunday roast craftily concealed by vast amounts of cabbage! Nice vege haggis, but Yorkshire pud was swimming in oil. Great atmosphere, dog friendly and nice staff earned it three stars.

One of the best Sunday roasts i have had in London, with proper thick gravy. Shame there was a lack of desserts on the menu.

Planned this Sunday roast two weeks ago, I was really hyped about it because I was really looking forward to trying their veggie haggis (even as a carnivore). When we were ordering, I found out they’ve ran out of veggie haggis… so I resorted to lamb. It was only 2pm when they ran out 😅 When me and my partner received our plates (after the rest of the table have been served ) , I found out our parsnips been replaced by cheesy cauliflower mash! I love parsnips so I was a little disappointed… and the roast potatoes been covered up by the mash which meant they’re soggy. On top of that, my roasted lamb were in scraps, while I see other table (from earlier orders) had big slices of meat. The food themselves were tasty but I was rather disappointed by the experience, and I also saw similar issues w the inconsistent servings from previous reviews. Hopefully these inconsistencies could be resolved in the future!

Sunday visit half of the tables booked for 13 30 you visit them at 12 00 and they will not sit you on the table because its pre booked. I explained, need one hour quick roast for me/wife and kid. Bar person stated 1 hour is not enough to get three roast. They are not organising seating properly not bothered with business at all.

A nice hipstery pub in a sea of old man pubs. Very lovely and artsy, with a cute beer garden too. Highly recommended! The food is pretty amazing and there’s a good selection of beer on offer. Add a few more AF ones please. Also turn down the music a bit please!!! I’m not that old but it’s too loud 😉

Wonderful, wonderful pub. Came here about 4.30 Saturday afternoon. Beautiful woody Arts and Crafts like interior. Some odd barman has a Britney Spears fetish and there's a little shrine to her behind the bar. Good music on the speakers. A bit hipster,but also the Nunhead Nappy Valley set. Very, very lovely ... it pains me to say on 14th September that there was only one, tepid ale, not very nice :-( I do hope it's a one-off, because last time I think I tried all three & they were nice!

The Old Nuns Head is a fabulous place to hang out with friends It offers a fantastic environment for drinks and food. Sitting outside in this peaceful part of South London, was a wonderfully chilled experience. I can't wait to return

Great queer fun pub in Nunhead, has everything of a classic pub with some added queerness - Britney shrine, queer staff etc. Also has some an amazing mix of events hosted upstairs from Piñata comedy show to Sid’s market ! Can’t recommend this place enough! Plus lots of outside space so perfect for a sunset pint !!

Nice pub! Good atmosphere, lots of seating, comfortable chairs, outdoor area in the front and back. The roasts are delicious and there are lots of fun events upstairs. Staff are nice and they let me bring in a massive tiramisu on my birthday which was delicious, by the way.

Nice to have a local pub that's still full of character and hasn't been bought out and ruined by a giant chain conglomerate. Staff are fun and super friendly and they'll let you order a combo mixed grill roast on Sundays if you ask nicely. Music is usually good with a lot of fun throwbacks tunes you're never mad to hear and they keep a giant bowl of treats out for the local dogs too. Quality spot.

Decent pub with some quirkiness to it - I admire the Britney adulation. However person serving me was moody AF...which I didn't expect considering the reputation. Beer and food respectable.

Allie created the most wonderful and personal wedding day for us. From our first initial contact with her we knew we were in excellent hands and up until the final hour of the wedding evening we were not disappointed! We didn't expect anywhere to meet our expectations for home-cooked, modern and interesting food, but Allie surpassed our expectations. All of the staff were also incredible, and always are whenever we visit the pub. The Old Nun's Head gave us a perfect day, thank you!

The most unfriendly bar I have ever been in The people working were unhelpful, unpleasant and rude. They seem to be there to make their mates feel special at the expensive of paying customers. Despite Archie's wonderful open mic - which had a great atmosphere and lovely people - this is not a place I recommend or wish to return to

Local pub. Serves normal pub food but tried nigerian jollof rice there before. It’s a great selection of beers and drinks. There is a small beer garden at the back. Function room upstairs for hiring. But the minimum spend is £4000. Free parking around the pub. Staff are friendly and helpful. You can get a beer and drink in the playground nearby in the summer when the children are around. Baby changing toilet also available.

Nice pub not cramped. Very good smoking area, large and covered on 3 sides plus roof.

I liked the pub - large seating areas, friendly staff, lgbtq+ friendly. However, it took ages to get served as the actual bar is small. Recommend a visit. They do drag bingo once a month, so I intend to visit again!
