Very special place, I dined here for my birthday and it was very special. A lot of attention and details have been put here, definitely recommend.

Had such a lovely meal, had great recommendations from Ernest regarding wine selection. Would definitely come dine here again. Thank you so much!

We had the most incredible experience at this South African restaurant in London for my husband’s 50th birthday celebration! From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make our evening truly special. They made sure every detail was perfect, and their genuine care really shone through. The food was absolutely delicious – I’m still thinking about it! Each dish was packed with flavor, and you can tell that a lot of love and passion went into the preparation. It was an unforgettable culinary experience. The customer service was top-notch, warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. They made us feel so welcome and ensured my husband’s birthday was a celebration to remember. I can’t recommend this place enough! If you’re looking for amazing food and outstanding service, this is the place to go!

Vino a tomar una copa de vino mientras caminaba, ya que recientemente hemos pasado tiempo en Sudáfrica. Un miembro del personal era encantador, el otro un poco menos amable, ya que no queríamos comer, solo tomar una buena copa de vino SA. Los vinos son caros, con no demasiados disponibles por copa, pero son buenos vinos. Me sorprendió un poco que no hubiera más vinos SA, dado que es un lugar SA. En general, un buen lugar para parar.

It was my brother’s 30th and Antonio made it special by bringing over a dessert with a candle. The food was amazing and varied. Would definitely recommend.

A great new addition to London Bridge. You will not be disappointed. Luisa gave 100% and was very informative on the choices we made. The takeaway wine discount can be dangerous with the quality on offer and you must try the lamb if ya don't go for the meat board.

An amazing restaurant with great transport connections, right outside London Bridge station on Tooley Street. We had a meal for 4 people and all the food was very good. The waiting staff were very friendly and informative and looked after us very well. We had a great time. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent dinner. Very good food, scallop starter, ostrich steak and apricot and harrisa chicken stand out as the highlights. Very welcoming and attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Strong recommendation.

2nd visit to Vivat Bacchus and the food never disappoints. Our meal was fantastic and even though we had a large party the waiters managed our orders well and everything was as expected - 5 star.

Muy agobiante. Los entrantes estaban bien, pero la red fue decepcionante. Tuve que devolver mi filete de cordero como crudo e incomestible. Lo reservé pero no me disculpé. ¡Los lados eran DIMINUTOS! ¡Una porción de chips tenía 8 chips! La tabla de queso para 4 personas era de £ 28 e incluía 6 galletas de fruta seca y 4 trozos muy pequeños de queso. ¡Trampa turística por favor evite!

A good Saturday night experience at Vivat Bacchus. Had a lovely Pinotage from the good selection of wines, friendly and efficient service and lovely food. I ate vegetarian and my date ate meat and both were good. The atmosphere was buzzy without being OTT so you could still hear yourselves speak. I will definitely go back again.

Amazing team, amazing service in a great environment. Super handy from London Bridge and great quality food and value for money. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and the team looked after us really well. Will be back

We noted that the entire South African experience has been suppressed with food only permitted from Europe .. apparently a Southwark council order !

Food & fish in particular was excellent, as always. Service less so.

I found it a beautiful meal however as a South African I was disappointed in the menu options. It was mainly all braai stuff, SA has amazing selection of meals. It’s a shame they did not have better options. Not even a Springbok shot was on menu or good SA beer. I was disappointed in the experience but happy with the meal we ate (pity ostrich ran out)

A bit pricey but worth it. Disappointed that the ostrich stakes were not available - as the key South African meat option seems strange that they'd run out - hence 4 not 5*. But the food we had was excellent. We had the meat sharing platter. The south African sausage was delicious.

Calidad y cantidad de la comida sin duda un par de muescas abajo en la experiencia de Farringdon, y los lados eran definitivamente pequeños vs precio. Lo que debería haber sido una experiencia memorable fue bastante olvidable. El único factor redentor fueron los postres que eran buenos y abundantes en tamaño. Pero en general dudo que vuelva

I’d dined at their Farringdon branch last year on 2 occasions and been very impressed with attentive service, food quality & quantity and overall ambiance. This experience was notably different and not in a good way. Service was mediocre, no one ever checked if everything was OK with any course. 4 of us crammed on a table really more suited for 2 yet no need as restaurant 60% full. Portion sizes seemed to be half what they were, 2 of us had lamb and the difference between the 2 was quite marked. Staff didn’t seem that interested nor working as a team, when we asked about some of the dishes they had no idea and just said it was really good. We were booked at 12:45 and one of our party ordered the Ostrich steak to be told they were sold out … why not say it just wasn’t on today, no way had they run out during 15 minutes of prior service with 4 people in. Won’t be returning, sorry, not good enough.

We enjoyed the food and drinks but we did find our waiter was a little grumpy with us when asking about items on the menu and when we needed more time.

Enjoyed a well-cooked ribeye steak on the bone with good flavour, a great sear, and a decent bone-to-meat ratio. The roasted new potatoes and spinach were satisfactory but unremarkable. The trio of bread was mediocre. Overall, the meal didn’t stand out compared to other typical steakhouses, basically lacking distinctive flavour. Service was fine; the server was friendly but lacked menu knowledge. For a January weekend, the restaurant was surprisingly busy.

Excellent in every way from the selection of South African wines to the South African food. My daughter came back from studying abroad in South Africa and was craving for South Africa food and her happiness and joyful face was all we needed to see. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience!!! Will recommend to all my family and friends.

As a South African, I was very excited to go to this restaurant. When we arrived, the atmosphere was calming and welcoming. We ordered starters, mains and dessert. The prices are not the cheapest and we were expecting mouth watering food, which I did not feel was achieved with the starter and mains. The main I had was herb-crusted lamb fillet, but they didn’t mention on the menu that it has mustard/horseradish on it which I don’t enjoy much. The mains with meat as the base also didn’t include any sides and so this added a lot to the price of the meal as well. The highlight was the dessert - Amarula crème brûlée! It was delicious 😁 Overall, not a bad experience but I didn’t think it was worth the price we paid for it.

Perfect for our pre-Christmas family get together. Great food, great service and so good to be able to hear each other speak!!

Hamburguesas muy agradables, £ 20 cada una, que era aceptable dado lo buenas que eran, pero realmente no me gusta que me cobren £ 3. 65 extra por una rodaja de queso en cada hamburguesa que no estaba en el menú. Me siento un poco polarizado, lo cual es una pena, ya que la comida y el personal eran muy agradables. La dirección tiene que pensar en esto.

Booked this Online via the Webpage. My Girlfriend is South African so wanted to give her a taste of home espescially for her Birthday. The restaurant is Located opposite London Bridge Train Station. Easy to book and Special occasion noted. The restaurant has a nice vibe and we were greated by friendly and welcoming Staff from the get go. We had an amazing Waiter Antonino. Very friendly. Helpful and made the Birthday Evening very special when Dessert came. 🍨 🕯. The food throughout was delicious. The Meat, the style of food all top quality. From Start to finish a great night. There are great places and special nights you always remember. This was one of them. Thankyou Vivat Bacchus.

Amazing South African food, reminded me of home! Was treated to a lovely 3 course meal and champagne for my birthday by my partner and this place did not disappoint! Antonino was a fantastic waiter and the dessert was heavenly! Definitely recommend this lovely place!

First visit to London Bridge Bacchus, truly excellent food, and fabulous wine, great service too. Cheese Room is a treat to behold. We had a fab 3-hour lunch, In life you get what you pay for, quite a big bill and worth every single penny. (We drank a lot of quality red wine!)

We had our work Christmas dinner at Vivat Bacchus and everything from the delicious food and wine to the fantastic service throughout our evening was flawless. Would definitely consider using again!

My friends and I decided to stop by on Saturday night after not been to this restaurant for 3 years. Couple of changes I could tell, bare in mind I have known this restaurant since 2013 so for a few years now. The food is nice but well overpriced and the same for the wine. Since I was there last about 3 years ago, now the price has literally doubled which is shocking because salaries haven't increased to make that a reasonable change. The most upsetting thing was that the cheese room looked almost abandoned and very empty. When I walked into there I felt sad so I'm going to share a picture of the cheese room of how it looked before just to see the comparison. Not to say that Saturdays used to be live jazz which created a very enjoyable atmosphere and good vibes. Sadly I don't think I will probably return soon.

Great atmosphere and service. Wine outstanding and a fantastic cheese board. Unfortunately, I found the meat to be disappointing - sirloin, lamb and especially boerwoers. Appreciate this is contrary to other reviews so maybe just a bad day

Decent venue which had a nice vibe. Prices are pretty high but it’s for high quality steak etc. The sides dishes that you need to order are pretty pricey for a small portion so that could be improved, could do with a decent size portion of fries etc, given the price paid. If you just want a house wine it will still set you back about 14 GBP a glass, I get it’s a wine bar but would be nice if they offered a more affordable option. The highlight was the peppermint crisp tart. A little taste of South Africa but can’t beat a South African restaurant in South Africa :). Nice treat thow.

First time visit to catch up with some friends I hadn’t seen in years. We choose this restaurant because we wanted to avoid loud noisy environment and this place was perfect for that. Given we were all very hungry we couldn’t wait to feast on what was to offer. Starters was amazing. The croquettes were delicious. Main was a let down unfortunately. We order two types of steaks and burger. My 300g sirloin was requested as medium and when it came it was well done tough and dry. It took a while to get staff attention to ask was a mistake done on my request. They confirm my request was medium and the kitchen staff made the mistake. Half the evening had gone and my hunger had gone. I was offered to prepare another one but we couldn’t stay late so they removed it from the bill. Big shame that as I was looking forward to it. I did attempt to smoother the steak in sauce but that didn’t go down too well.

It was quiet, but people trickled in and out , the one thing I did notice , no noise even as we were so central. Food pleasantly surprised, great well managed portions , extensive drinks menu. Well I posted to all I know , and definitely will be back. Thanks guys PS Baboetie meat option please 🙏

Came here for my birthday. Was welcomed with a complimentary glass of Champagne and also got my desert for free. Customer service was top notch, with our food coming quickly and not being rushed at all. Have a lovely selection of South African cuisine. Highly recommend the steak. Will definitely coming back!

Booked for my boyfriend’s birthday, we were greeted with complimentary champagne and had the most amazing meal! The food was exceptionally cooked and the wait staff didn’t make us feel rushed, I would highly recommend if you want good service and food.

Wonderful food and superb bottle of Rainbow's End Cabernet Franc shared over lunch. Very accommodating for dogs too! Daniel was a wonderful host and Antonino was very attentive. Service was very quick and dishes were presented well

The food and service was very good. I didn’t like that all extras were an additional cost, for example a small plate of chips were an additional £5+ We were trying to have a catch up with someone we have not seen for a while but found it very noisy and hard to follow the conversation. This was probably bad timing as we were seated next to a largish table downstairs. Overall, food and service great but seemed a little pricy.

Really good food and service. Nice atmosphere. The only draw back is because of our dietary restrictions, we can only have 2 of there mains one appetizer and no desserts. Thus we are forced to eat the same dinner over and over again. I wish they catered to this issue more. If so we would eat there again and again. But I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good dinning experience.

Went there for a small word-do. Service was, as always, impeccable. And the desserts weren’t too shabby either! Definitely going there again.

Fantastic, friendly, helpful staff. Food was a substantial portion cooked to perfection. All the drinks and cheese you could possibly want. Interesting SA variants of classic cocktails. Only critique; the chips could have been cooked longer. Would recommend. I will be coming back

Visited first time today. Everything we’ve ordered (scallops, ostrich steak, lamb shanks and some vegetables) was amazing. Great wine list, beautiful interior and service. A little bit pricey but honestly worth it. It was busy by 6pm on Thursday probably better to book a table.

Amazing food! We had 4 different main meals & all were exceptional , reminded me of home . The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday night so the atmosphere wasn't the best therefore it could do with some light background music . We had 3 different waiters/ waitresses within a space of 1.5 hours & they didn't give the friendly service we were expecting going to a South African restaurant. Left this feedback so that the owner could improve in these areas .

Cute small restaurant with a great selection of wines and grilled meats, as well as a selection of modern mains. We had some of the grilled meats with some side salads which were all delicious. Don’t be hesitant to try something new here as the quality of the food is fantastic. I recommend the Boereworst. The malva pudding dessert is excellent too. The servers were friendly and happy to advise on the menu. They were sometimes a little slow, and unfortunately we waited a while for the nibbles (olives and biltong, so no cooking required), which came right before the mains, when we would have preferred to have them brought with the wine so we can nibble while we wait for the food. All things considered, this is a small complaint though, as everything else was really good, and the food and atmosphere was great!

Vivat Bacchus is one of the best restaurants I have been to in London Bridge. The South African food and wine were incredible and the service was fantastic. I'm celiac and they had lots of gluten-free options and were very knowledgeable about allergens.

We were served by Graham who was wonderful. Attentive and charming. We look forward to coming back!

Excellent food - the scallops with boabab roots and the crocodile goujons were delicious, as was the ostrich grill and cauliflower steak. The chocolate tart was amazing. The cheese room was a real surprise and treat. Great wine choices.

Delightful - mouthwatering dishes, great friendly service, you could almost feel the Cape sunshine, and taste it in the good selection of wines.... be careful of the cocktails, they may be adictive! Looking forward to going back again soon

What a gem! Everything was lovely but I would recommend doing the cheese experience. Pearl was a highlight- she is an absolute asset to the restaurant. Promote her immediately. ( all the staff are lovely too). We will be back.

Absolutely first class! Ambience was delightful. Our waitress (whose name escapes me -apologies) was so pleasant and helpful throughout the whole evening. The food was excellent and we were invited in to the cheese room to chose are own cheeses, be careful not to sample too many or you won’t t have room for your actual cheese board ! We couldn’t fault the evening, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in London .

Our group had a nice south African lunh at Vivat Bacchus in the centre of London. The meals were nice and spicy, the staff was friendly, but the prices of a normal small glass of Chardonay or Sauvignon are with appr. 16 pounds ridiculous high.

Had a fabulous time here with the family on a Friday evening. The restaurant had a very great Friday wind down buzz. The cheese room was so much fun! My eldest can now say he has tried both crocodile and ostrich which he is happy about! Decent affordable wine list with some interesting options.

Great food & wine with friendly and knowledgeable service. Ostrich and smoke pate were highlights. Only complaint was that sides like chips were a bit measly in size given the price.

We came here a few weeks back for a business meeting, the restaurant was a bit quiet for lunch but that makes it perfect for business lunches. It was a surprise find, but I’m so glad I found it. Pearl served us, she was absolutely fantastic and had great knowledge of the wine and the food, she did an amazing job. The food was great, starters scallops were wonderful, they have a good range of meat Including crocodile and ostrich plus seafood for mains you can get a mix board of meat with different cuts to try and share. Sorry I didn’t any pictures which was a shame, the mint crisp cake is something I have never tried before and was really lovely treat- portions for desserts are big too. They also have a private room downstairs if you want to host or have a business meetings. Would highly recommend this place, the staff are a 10/10

I've wanted to come here for years but not had the chance to, even though I've sent friends and family! Finally managed to go last night with a friend of mine and had a fantastic evening. Will definitely be back to explore more of the menu, wines, and cheese. A shout-out to Graham who was an absolute gent.

Malva pudding not very South African- needs more syrup. Would like to see more South African sides eg pap with the chakalaka

Vivat Bacchus was a great first time experience. It really made us feel like we was back home in South Africa. The house red wine was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection. The chakalaka could have done with a but more of a kick but we enjoyed if none the less. We will definitely coming back. However pleaee add Mash back to the menu. Victoria was a wonderful waitress, she was attentive and had good recommendations.
