Tas Pide in Southwark

We've been to Tas Pide a few times now but this last experience was absolutely amazing. The food is simply delicious. Feels like it was made in the warmth of a home. Dessert was perfect. Service is great too. We'll definitely be back 🤗❤️

I really wanted to like Tas Pide, where I had enjoyed a pre-theatre lunch many years ago. But on a recent visit to the Globe, we found the place empty despite its proximity to a sold-out performance. The interior is shabby and there were limp crisps on the floor beneath our table. The waiter took our order then coughed several times into his open palm. I watched him go behond the counter, where he handled cutlery, plates and food, without washing. I was wary of course, but it was too close to curtain to find another place to eat. I would have done better going without dinner. I asked that my food be served without additional oil ontop, yet everything we ordered was doused in low-grade olive oil. And it was so heavily salted no other flavour could be discerned. This is my native cuisine; I know how it ought to be prepared. Not-like-this. The owners of the Tas chain would be well advised to invest in renovating the place and installing serious chefs and hiring competent staff who have a working knowledge of hygiene. Until then, theatre goers and others are wise to stay away.

We got a table without making a reservation, the appetizer platter was first class, and the skin dishes were also very good.

Everything we ate was delicious. The hummus was the best I've had in London.

We chose this place for its proximity to Shakespeare Globe Theatre as it was lunch time. The decor is beautiful and authentic, food was fresh and service was good. We got the çaçik and salad with walnuts to start with, both very tasty.. We were also given a complimentary hummus which tasted more like tahini.. Then we had the cheese and leek pide which was delicious, pastry crunchy and cheese plentiful and the aubergine with peppers which washes tasty.. We had vanilla and cinnamon ice cream for dessert and a kunafe which was a bit of a let down as it wasn't crunchy on top and the cheese hard and came out in one piece (a bit disappointing) as we were so looking forward to it. But, in general a nice place to have a meal.

¡Entra bajo tu propio riesgo! Comimos en este restaurante por mi cumpleaños y sinceramente desearía no haberlo hecho. Pedí corteza y me sirvieron una cáscara vacía de pastelería filo y espinacas húmedas. Hablé con el camarero sobre esto y me presentaron un lote fresco con queso de cabra como se describe en el menú, desafortunadamente era extremadamente salado que no pudimos terminarlo. Luego, a uno de nosotros le dio salmón frío, que pedimos que se calentara, pero se presentó de nuevo como un trozo de pescado duro. Otra persona consiguió un plato que su único sabor eran los pimientos verdes y no era comestible. Nos quejamos y pedimos otro salmón, que para ser honestos no valió la pena la espera. Cuando la patata se abrió, estaba caliente por fuera y fría por dentro. Me fui sin comer, feliz cumpleaños para mí! Si no podía empeorar el servidor no tenía un lápiz y papel cuando tomó nuestro pedido y se olvidó de uno de nuestros principales y un pedido de arroz. Luego teníamos arroz en la mesa menos la red. Toda la experiencia duró más de 2 horas. ¡Una farsa de restaurante! Digamos que no recomendaría. En el lado positivo el camarero era extremadamente amable, educado y no podría haber sido más disculpado. Me sentí mal por tener que servir comida horrible a los chefs.

Nice place with good food. The mixed grill was tasty, and the pides were fresh and well-cooked. The mezes were also good, especially the hummus and ezme. Worth a visit!

I've been there regularly since 15 years and my last experience was really bad. We orders Pide with my wife and it was both awful. Bad taste, dry, canned tomatoes. My wife had an indigestion. Won't go there anymore :-/

The food at Tas remains reliable and the service is almost always good. This branch has a more limited selection of meze but more adventurous mains than many similar places, including other branches of the same chain.

Reservé este lugar para el almuerzo como mi amigo visitó desde los EE.UU. Durante un domingo fue extremadamente tranquilo. Esto por sí solo debería haber encendido las alarmas. Los otros restaurantes en los alrededores estaban muy ocupados. La camarera que nos atendió fue la más miserable que hemos encontrado. Sé que todo el mundo tiene un mal día, pero por favor no estés cerca de los clientes si eres tan miserable. Mi amigo de los Estados Unidos se sorprendió mucho de lo desagradables que nos hicieron sentir. Mi amigo y yo pedimos el plato de meze. Como no como carne de res pedí una sustitución. La misma miserable camarera de un restaurante muy vacío no pudo sugerir otra cosa que baba ghanoush. Un sustituto más apropiado para la carne de res es el pollo o el cordero. No estaba dispuesta a ofrecer esta opción. Ni siquiera se sugerían calamares o falafel extra. Viendo que el meze tenía suficientes opciones de dips/semi-sólidos, otra más no era apropiada así que dije que solo llevara la carne de res ya que mi amigo podía comerla. Me sorprendió descubrir que el queso a la parrilla estaba en el mismo plato que la carne de res, por lo que no podía comerlo. ¡Qué idiota! En general, fue una mala experiencia con comida sobrepreciosa y mal servicio. Lamento haber llevado a mi amigo a este lugar. Deberíamos haber ido al restaurante griego local en su lugar.

My brother and I want to thank you for your kindness on 6th February. We had a lovely meal with you before seeing Cymbeline at the Globe. Afterwards, I found I could hardly walk because my ankle was very painful. You looked after me while we waited for a taxi and wouldn't accept payment for the drinks you gave us. Thank you so much! A consistently lovely restaurant. Pleasant staff, not rushed and very enjoyable food. Always a great go to restaurant for a long relaxed meal.

Unfortunately we were not able to discover this restaurant which tempted us because we had arrived 1 hour before closing and the waiter told us that we had to hurry to eat if we wanted to stay so no we left! Damage.

Brilliant restaurant with great staff! I took my mother here for her birthday (it's one of our favourite restaurants) and let them know in advance, and they gave her a slice of cake with a candle and sang happy birthday to her! They have a great selection of food and drinks, especially the wine list, and I've always been really happy with whatever I've ordered - they're one of the only places I've been where I've enjoyed eating aubergine. The menu is especially great if you're vegetarian.

Tas Pide is an amazing spot with incredible food and great service! The dishes were fresh, hearty, and bursting with authentic flavors. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty food and great hospitality!

Come here every year to meet up with a friend, best food by far, staff are so friendly and the food is delicious 😋 reasonably priced in a lovely atmosphere. Couldn't rate it higher.

5 de nosotros fuimos a cenar la semana pasada por primera vez desde antes del confinamiento por covid y encontramos que era al menos tan bueno si no mejor que anteriormente. Era temprano a mitad de semana y no estaba ocupado, pero todavía había un buen ambiente.

Great spot near the Globe Theatre, just tucked away from the riverside and Millennium Bridge. Really friendly and attentive service, and a large menu to choose from. The pides are light and crispy, not just a boat-shaped pizza. The desserts were a real highlight - we ordered baked pumpkin, rice pudding and Kaymakli Kestane (candied chestnut topped with pistachio), and all three were delicious and worked well together - a relief since they were all new to us! A great option for pre-theatre food, or to refuel after a day exploring London :)

Definitely food quality could be better

If you’re looking for high quality Turkish cuisine, the mezze sampler and pide dishes at Tas Pide are an absolute delight. The mezze platter is perfect for sharing, with savory, vibrant flavors. From the creamy, rich hummus and baba ganoush to the falafafel and halloumi, every bite transports you straight to the Mediterranean. The assortment is both varied and generous. We also had the pide, or Turkish pizza. The pide crust at Tas Pide is perfectly baked—crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside—and topped with fresh, tasty ingredients. We left Tas Pide full and satisfied. Very glad we stopped here for dinner after visiting The Globe theater.

Visited on Friday night and the place was empty. I had a ‘lamb stew’ (?) which was watery and virtually tasteless, but still quite expensive. Won’t visit again

Comida fabulosa, muy acogedora, excelente servicio, buena relación calidad-precio, excelente ubicación y muy bien decorado. El mejor hummus que he comido.

Depressing plates - all feeling as if the food had been around a while. Was hoping for real memories of delicious Anatolian originals but that was not to be.

A big restuarant in the busy part of London. Just around the corner from The Globe. Good venue to go to before or after a show. An authentic Turkish menu which has 'pide' is it's main attraction. Open kitchen and large oven makes a experience. The owner obviously l8ces plants because thete are many throughout tge restuarant. Nice toilets.

Lovely staff, but the service was extremely slow. There were only three tables, and no one came to serve us in over 15minutes. The food was mediocre, nothing amazing and in places lacked flavour. The portion sizes were quite small, for example, two small falafel pieces and two tiny slices of halloumi (see image). Definitely overpriced, but I guess that’s partly down to the location. The decor is nice, but not cosy. Bright lights and tiny chairs. The restaurant is clean (including the restroom area), and the kitchen is open so you can see the chefs cook.

Don't believe anyone who says it's good, they want you to vote with money, it's probably a disgrace.

Never disappointed at this restaurant which has now been around for at least 20 years. Offers a great selection of meze for starters, both Turkish pide / pizza, kebabs and other casserole type dishes for main all served promptly and efficiently. In a convenient location a short walk from the City, London Bridge and Tate Modern.

Close to Tate Modern, went for an early evening meal. Good meze selection with reasonable quantities. Pleasant service and initially a very buzzy atmosphere. Quiet by the time we left.

Sucedimos en Tas Pide sin saber que estaba allí o lo que es un pide. Resulta que es una pizza turca hecha con pan plano y sin tomate ni queso derretido. Son muy sabrosos y bastante llenos. La mía tenía una salchicha muy sabrosa y la de mi esposa era agradable con queso de cabra. Empecé con un delicioso hummus suave, aunque estaba seriamente tentado de tener un mezze completo. Si el hummus es algo a juzgar por el resto de entrantes valdría la pena el precio ligeramente alto. Los entrantes vienen con un pan caliente muy sabroso. Había más postres en oferta de los que normalmente encuentro en restaurantes turcos, pero aún así fui con el clásico baklava y no me arrepentí. De alguna manera tenía un regusto cremoso y no era demasiado sirope. Mi esposa optó por el helado, que era bueno y más leche que crema. Lo único negativo real fue que a pesar de ser un domingo lento con el restaurante menos de la mitad lleno el servicio fue muy lento. Era difícil llamar la atención del personal de espera a veces, lo que era un poco frustrante. Eran educados y nada estaba mal, así que parece duro marcarlos, pero necesita ser clasificado.

The restaurant is beautiful and service is excellent, pides are tasty but I didn’t think much of the vegetarian stew I had. Value for money could be better- it’s quite pricey for what you get.

Felt rushed through meal. Barely sat down and viewed the menu before being asked what we wanted to eat. The lamb was chewy, the burger dry. Over priced for what it is. Wouldn't return. Such a shame. Could be so much more the food let's the restaurant down majorly!

Great Turkish restaurant right next to The Globe. Really like the authentic decoration and excellent food. Loved the aubergine casserole. Small pide appetizer. Very nice service.

Everything was wonderful! I am so glad I visited Tas Pide. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Turkish music was played. I had went for mercimek soap and chicken grill whereas my friend had chosen mix grill. We ended our lunch with turkish coffee. Ayran is also very much recommended, ayran is a turkish yogurt drink.

Ambiente encantador - me encantó la decoración Disfruté de los entrantes Los cuatro platos principales fueron decepcionantes. Mi puerro y mi garbanzo no tenían sabor. Sabía a caldo de puerro y tomate con una lata de garbanzos mezclados. En ambos pides (el pan estaba delicioso) pero los rellenos eran insípidos. El guiso de pollo era esencialmente mi caldo de puerro menos los garbanzos más pollo. Los asientos eran incómodos así que no tuvimos más remedio que movernos al banco -situado cerca de la puerta-, lo que me hizo sentir frío. En general no es una buena experiencia para mí.

This place was amazing. Really good service and good atmosphere. Food came in a reasonable amount of time and was really delicious. Really added to an already good experience in London. If I'd had more time I would have tried one of the other locations. Was awesome enough to want to come back to. Many thanks for good memories ❤️

I chose Tas Pide for a birthday dinner, following a trip to the Tate Modern. It is very nearby on a relatively quiet side street, and had a really good mix of vegetarian, vegan and omnivore options for all of my guests. It has a lovely villagey, planty look from the outside, and an authentic, Anatolian Turkish feel inside. When we arrived it was busy, with a lot of families - we had booked a very early dinner, for 6.15. Our table was booked ready and waiting, and it got quieter by 7.30. The staff were pretty busy and getting service meant calling them over from time to time, but they were perfectly attentive, and very sweet, when we did so. I had been concerned by some recent reviews that the food might be so-so, so we were incredibly happy to find that it was delicious. Generous portions, with unusal ingredients (my dish had mulberry molasses- which lent a gorgeous sharp sweetness to the sauce) and techniques which gave familiar ingredients a fresh approach. Everyone was extremely happy with our food, the prosecco, the atmosphere, and the lovely staff. We enjoyed the environment (I had thought online it looked a bit dated and busy, but I really liked it in person). Thanks Tas Pide for a lovely evening.

Slightly off the main drag so you may not see it if you’re walking along by the Thames. But it’s definitely worth a visit. It specialises in pide - a kind of thin Turkish pizza - although it does a range of other very good Turkish food. A lively, fun place to eat.

KFC etc. since we arrived. We were eating chain food and it was getting boring. After a long time, food similar to the flavors we are used to passed through our throats. Although it is a bit more expensive than fast-food chains, it has a very satisfactory menu in terms of price-performance. We ate Sahan menu (lentil soup-chicken casserole) and fish and chips. Before the meal, two types of appetizers and hot pita are served. I think the food is quite delicious and the portions are large and filling. I was very pleased. Finally, the attitude of the staff was also very good. A curly-haired lady, who we learned was from Sivas, took care of us. We would like to thank him again for his approach and interest.

The atmosphere is is incredible but the food was a bit Bland and dry. We got the mixed grill and the chicken and lamb skewers were very dry. However the lahmacun was very flavourful would recommend!

Visited Tas Pide on Thursday- these guys never disappoint. It was a semi-business dinner - the food was great for all of us - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the relaxed atmosphere. Yet again the staff catered for my food allergies without fuss. Will be back soon. Thank you so much again for your hospitality- I never take it for granted.

The best thing I've tried, I highly recommend it. There are things that look bad but are actually very good. If you pass by, try it.

Good food, but rather small portion. Unfortunately we waited about 40 minutes for the first drinks. Even after that, the second Coke wasn't brought. Staff a bit overwhelmed.

The food was delicious, the interior design of the place was good, but the price was expensive.

This really is the best place to go for authentic Turkish cuisine. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. Thank you to the sweet little Turkish lady with the short curly hair who served us. You were so hospitable and welcoming.

Great venue good service and great food.

We are very enjoyed this restaurant food was great, especially Hunkar Begendi my kids very picky but even they loved the Burger and Pide. Beautiful atmosphere staff was very welcomed they treat us with Turkish desserts baked pumpkin ☺️we will back again

The waitress is a bit grumpy. The hummos wasn't good. The laban isn't turkish. Other starters were good. The lamp dish was perfect.

Amazing food! Was not too busy (visited at 5PM) and the staff were wonderful - our servers Vitika and a lady with short, curly hair were super welcoming!! Expensive, but as we had never tried Turkish food before, it seemed relatively worth it. Will hopefully be back soon!

Great place, just a few metres off the main tourist trail. I love this place.

Amazing menu. We were able to modify our choices of small dishes to accommodate someone who was gluten free. Plenty of choice. The dishes were tasty and service swift.

Authentic Anatolian food. We order the TAS Meze Menú to taste a little plate of every starter and it is absolutely amazing. I recommend 100% if you want something different.

Turkish restaurant in London 🇬🇧 We tried this Turkish restaurant while walking throughout London , I must say I was a bit disappointed, the food was overpriced on my opinion, I found hair on my food, the toppings were very little and the restaurant quite empty in general.

Walked in for lunch after visiting the Tate Modern. Food was mediocre at best. Service was good though. Prices do not match the quality of the food. A real shame!

Not as many people in on a Friday night as I was expecting. On the other hand there has been an explosion of food places around Borough Market so it may be general saturation. Food is good and different with a middle eastern bent. Great place. To eat before visiting the Globe.

It's a really great atmosphere. It's in the center of London. It has a great interior and an authentic atmosphere. It has friendly and courteous staff that makes you feel at home. The food is very delicious and the prices are affordable.If you are around London Bridge, I definitely recommend you to have your meal here.

We had the theatre set menu that came with a drink, 2 starters each and a main course. Lovely food and great value. Especially given its central location.

Came here with a couple of friends before going to the Globe. We had a lovely meal, sharing a few small plates and one of the pides. All the food was delicious and arrived quickly. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. We'll definitely be back.

We popped in while looking for halal food options. It's a beautiful restaurant on the inside near the Globe. We ordered the mixed grill platter, everything was quite tasty.
