Updated review: Even better than last time I went, food was fantastic, great service. Original: I'd been meaning to give Peckham Bazaar a try for a seriously long time, and I'm glad I did. Really nice, relaxed vibe and I was well looked after by their friendly and efficient team. Food was good, wine list ok. Worth a repeat visit, for sure.

Delicious food, great service and atmosphere. However, Staff do not receive the service charge, which for the price of the food and quality of service we received i think is pretty immoral and shameful if i’m honest.

Really wanted to love this place after years of waiting to visit. The food was all very delicious but we left very disappointed due to slow service. The concept is small sharing dishes, which arrive when they are ready, which we've found in other restaurants can be done brilliantly, but at Peckham Bazaar we had to wait around 20 mins between each plate of food arriving, so by the time plate 3 arrived we had been there over an hour and were quite hungry and starting to lose patience! We were only informed several plates later that there was a staffing issue (earlier we were told the frier was broken), at which point we were offered a complementary glass of wine. We could have been told this at the start of the meal. As things continued to be very slow from that point we asked to cancel a few dishes from our order, to be told that they hadn't actually added those to the order for some reason. Since the food is good we had considered going back one day and giving PB another chance, but from reviews it does appear this is a recurring issue so unfortunately we may not return, especially as there are now so many great restaurants in the area.

Myself and my dearest friend had the most wonderful night here this Friday! This restaurant does stands out from the rest by a country mile. The Balkan/mediterranean influences really shine through. Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing experience! My boyfriend and I had dinner at Peckham Bazaar early in the evening on a Friday. The vibe was great as the restaurant started to fill up. Service was super friendly and attentive with great recommendations. Drinks were well made, the highlight of the evening was definitely the food. Everything was beautifully presented and the flavour combinations were out of this world. Our favourite was the miso aubergine, sirloin kebab, the grilled prawns, and the Greek salad. So grateful we found this hidden gem. Thank you team, we will be back!

Absolutely stellar food, lovely service and great ambience. Prices are quite reasonable relative to other restaurants of this calibre although wine prices are a bit dear. All in all very highly recommended.

The food was as delicious as usual. The service was friendly and relaxed. Our only gripe was that the room was slightly chilly.

The slightly shambolic setting should not deceive - this was our second visit and the food was just as delicious as the first time.

Food was ok but some portions oddly-sized for sharing plates eg 3 keftedes for 2 people (more natural size is 4). Biggest let down was the huge draught that was blowing through the door into the restaurant. Had to sit with coat on thoughout the whole dinner. After we got up and tried to push the door closed n pull the ineffectual curtain behind it to better cover the door, staff intervened with a small heater and turning up the Aircon heater at the other end of the room. Felt uncomfortable - this isn't the middle ages, put a proper draught-proof door on the place so customers can enjoy their food in comfort.

We are return customers. The food is always very good here. But, we will not return on Valentine's Day again! The service was overwhelmed.

Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere but small portions for sharing and big prices

On arrival, food menus were not ready so we had to wait 20 minutes before looking at the menu. Despite being the first seated and ordering soon after receiving the menu, we were the last table in the room to receive any of our food. It felt as though we had been forgotten as I had to remind the staff that we ordered pitta breads about 30 minutes ago. We were given dessert menus but when the waitress came over we were told that the table had to be given back in the next 10 minutes so we were unable to order dessert if we wanted to. This felt unfair as the time delay was not our fault and some items took over an hour to arrive. Overall, the food was tasty but the experience was a bit disappointing as we have previously really enjoyed this place.

Excellent, extaordinarily good food, really nice helpful staff. The dishes were very well thought-out, right down to the garnish. This is a chef with values, no short-cuts. Choose 'outdoors' if you can (it's indoors in the winter). 'Indoors' is just a bit intimate with the open kitchen. Next time in London we will be back.

I have been meaning to write this review for ages! Booked a birthday dinner here for 20 people at 6pm. There was a train strike that day so guests arrived up to 45 mins late. What the restaurant didn't tell us that the booked was for only 2 hours and they had another large party coming at 8pm! Understandably we were a late but I have had dinner with 2 friends that has taken longer than 2 hours and we were not informed of this before. Food was great but we felt like they just wanted us in and out, they were literally throwing meals across the table to get us out quicker and we had to eat our dessert in the smoking area. For a nearly thousand pound bill and considering the table was booked for 20 people I can't understand why it was only 2 hours?!

Absolutely perfect! Went for the second time last night and it will always be my go to on special days. The manager was so thoughtful and the food was crazy good again. I cant recommend this place enough.

Nice place. Food is alright. Though they state that the plates are designed to be shared, some of the food is not really. A bit difficult to share among more than 3 people.

Great restaurant in Peckham/Nunhead area. Very creative food inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. The service was very helpful and friendly. The cocktails could be enhanced, so it’s probably a better idea to go straight for some wine. The octopus is their signature dish, or so we were told; although the texture was slightly chewy, it had very nice spicy flavours. The rest of the plates were superb.

Great selection of dishes (including veg and fish options). Their Peckham negroni pairs fantastically with the brill, which was a particular highlight of the meal. Shared the meal tapas style.

Last minute reservation so had no expectations. They found us a table on the terrace which was covered on all sides so warm and very cute and cosy with fairy lights. All the dishes we had were very tasty, particularly the scallop risotto and the lamb. Paid approx £60pp including 2 bottles of wine between 3 of us. The head waiter (didn’t get his name) was very friendly, funny and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

I had my wedding here at Peckham Bazaar. It was such a lovely experience thanks to Luis. We came back for dinner again and we were treated as VIP'S. Thank you Luis for making our evening very special. Highly recommended

Such an hidden gem in Peckham. All the dishes are delicious, it’s hard to chose a favourite. Would highly recommend trying the fritters, hallumi, red mullet, steak kebab and all of the deserts!! Service also excellent, we were so well looked after for my brothers birthday meal. Will definitely be back :)

Had a great meal with friends, fabulous, delicious food and a lovely server.

Amazing little local venue, with delicious food, great atmosphere and a host who truly understands, embraces, and makes a fine art of hospitality. He instantly remembered us after a brief visit a few weeks before when just poking our heads in to see what all the fuss was about and laid on the silver service to a tee. Chef was on point as well, and when not firing up some fine dishes was very friendly and chatty too. Definitely one for special occasions. If only they served coffee I’d be in there full time!!

I’ve been going for around 8-10 years and it’s usually fantastic but almost every plate was overcooked this time and the execution wasn’t to the level you’d expect for the price.

An absolute joy in every sense. Detailed and clever menu from a philosopher of food. Great selection of valid wines... But what makes Peckham Bazaar is John Gionleka's personality in every inch of the place.

It has been recommended by a Greek friend for the authenticity of the food yet very modern approach. I couldn’t agreed more. A bit pricy but probably what you could expect in London for this type of food.

Gorgeous little restaurant in a hidden pocket of Peckham. Our host (i think his name was Lucio?) was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, give him a raise! The food was divine especially his recommendation of the kourkoubines. We’ll definitely be back soon!

We ate here in December for a work do and again in February for my birthday. When we returned in Feb the head waiter remembered us as soon as he saw us and then proceeded to give us an amazing evening, again. He truly understands the art of good hospitality and he made my birthday really memorable. The food is always amazing and the setting is lovely. I feel so lucky to have this as my neighbourhood restaurant, but if i didn't, I would definitely travel to eat here.

Excellent evening with delicious food! We visited in winter and the restaurant was super cosy and atmospheric, excellent attentive and friendly service. The menu was creative and it was hard to decide as all the dishes and specials sounded amazing. Two of us had four medium sized plates to share - grilled octopus with white tamara, potatoes and capers, grilled red mullet, rabbit and prune pastilla with labneh & babaganoush with salad and grilled pita. All dishes were beautifully presented and came with different fresh zingy side salads. The menu is very Greek / Balkan inspired. All staff seemed very smiley happy and relaxed which made for a great atmosphere in the open kitchen setting. Great place for special occasions too. Will be back to try more of the dishes!

Ordered 4 dishes between two people - each one was perfect and portions were generous. Lovely staff and setting too.

We chose this spot on a Monday as many other restaurants were closed but I was AMAZED! The food was delectable; incredibly yummy 😋 the sea bass was just the perfect mix of flavours, can’t wait to get it again.

My friend was looking for a restaurant to have her small wedding dinner and Peckham Bazaar was the only restaurant that contacted her back and was happy to help. The food was absolutely amazing and delicious and the way we were treated was out of this world. Luis and all his team were so kind and thoughtful. He always made sure that we had all we needed and that we were all comfortable and enjoying our time there. We certainly have never been treated so well ever before in a restaurant. Thank you so much Luis and team from all of us for making my friends's wedding day so special.

Incredible! Friendly, warm service at a small place (plus a large patio that was quiet in the cold weather). We ordered about a dozen small plates between six of us and everything was outstanding - no dish was a letdown. Fantastic. Sirloin steak skewer and courgette fritters stood out, but honestly everything was delicious.

It was pretty quiet when we arrived, ordered 2 dishes each for table of 6. Nine of the dishes arrived fairly quickly but we had to ask again and again for the remaining three, with waiters looking confused and asking what we were missing even when we reminded them for the third/fourth time. The final dish only arrived two hours after initially ordering, with no apology. On top on this, my friend specifically requested a vegan menu (separate and only provided upon request for some reason) and then was given a dish cooked with butter... All this at a pretty high price means we probably won't be back.

so glad i stumbled across this place on google maps. came by myself to read and have a late lunch. the tarama & chicken hummus were both delicious. plus a super friendly atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the food here a couple of summers ago but the disorganised booking team has almost put me off going back! Firstly, I called and asked to change my booking only to find when I called back to change the number of people that it had never been changed and nothing was booked. I called again and was told ‘the manager will call you back’ (they never did). Then I called back again today and spoke to someone who took all my details and said she could complete the booking, only to change her mind at the end of the call and say it was ‘actually quite busy’ and she would need to call me back. Not wanting to wait for no reason again, I checked online and there were multiple tables available? Waste of time.

I visited as part of a booking with a large group. My friend informed the staff before that one of the party (me) was vegan. Their “feasting menu” included one dish the waiter described as vegan, a tomato salad with cheese on top. I don’t expect any restaurant to have to cater for vegans, it’s up to them. However, to accept a large booking at a set £45 a head, knowing in advance that one of the party is vegan, and then show inflexibility and near unwillingness to work with the ingredients and kitchen talent they have available is unacceptable. The spoonful of chickpeas I was given (and vegetarian sides I was willing to nibble on) was delicious but only came as a result of prolonged efforts explaining to staff long after everyone else had been served.

The food was good, a little bit over priced but raw ingredients are good quality and I know how expensive they are in the UK. The dishes are just a bit simple for high standard restaurant London prices (orasay ; noble rot ; salon etc) 2 on 5 dishes that we wanted were on the menu but out of stock at 1pm when it seems like no one was here before us today. Disappointing. The recommendation of 5 dishes is a bit much. We couldn't finish everything. Means that portions are quite generous ! The service : Quite hard to get some attention. Seems weird to them to be called or to take completely empty plates out of the table. The beer I was served first was warm. When I asked for a colder one. He brought me another slightly colder (probably from the back of the fridge) but still not cold. And left the first one on the table... A bit weird service. Not bad but.. weird.

Delicious food and service was pretty efficient the night we were there. The server seemed to be on top of things and everything arrived in good time. Some of the best food I've had in London in a really sweet neighbourhood restaurant.

Terrible service. Slow. Missing items. Raising your hands like to school to get attention to make some sort of order. We had to ask so many times for drinks and ask for reminders for drinks that we ordered. Even after constant reminders drinks arrived wrong. Food and dishes sounded good and tasted decent but execution seemed very rushed as there was only 2 staff members for the floor. The beef sirloin kebab was still raw but having waited so long there was little resistance to ask for it to be redone. We were aware that food comes out when it comes out but waiting 30/40 mins or so in between some bread and babaganoush (which was tasty) is not reasonable. We also waited 30 mins previous as they had lost our order ticket and had to redo it. Some People had finished food before another persons food had even arrived. We saw the kitchen had been closed down and still had a meal missing. We asked and was told that they forgot to put that order for the Octopus through. And so another 20 min wait so that one of our party could have their meal which was at 10.45pm! To top it off when the bill came…we were feeling a bit ripped off as they still expected us to pay for the full bill for items that were missing or items that were mistakenly put onto our order. For what they charge you expect at least a decent level of service. Disappointed as we was looking forward to the meal but having seen how badly organised and the service is run, it seems difficult to even attempt going back

Good food but - once again - sleepy service, and an insane price for two 500ml carafes of wine: £24 each! And they were undrinkable.

Food was delicious, really great flavors and pairings. Bread lacked olive oil and turned out dry and not great. Average cocktails. The service demonstrated real organizational flaws. We arrived at 9 and were seated on the terrace (inside had an open kitchen and was oppressively hot). When we ordered they warned us that dishes would come out staggered, we were still not expecting to wait up to an hour between the main dishes. We had to ask repeatedly for water glasses, cutlery and napkins. At 10:30 on the dot, having still not received one of the mains, we were abruptly told that we had to move inside immediately as they risked a fine. Given the hot atmosphere inside and the bad service we preferred to leave. The servers while nice enough talked back and tried to oblige us to stay and wait for the last dish. Having worked in service for years, I can understand the stress that bad management can cause. There was not an unreasonable ratio of tables to staff so I think some simple organizational changes could allow the delicious food to remain the memorable part of the night.

This was a really disappointing meal with my friends. Wet seats that made our clothes damp and smell, zero atmosphere, in attentive and slow service and dirty prosecco glasses. The price of this neighbourhood eatery is redeemed only by the lovely food, but with prices as high as they are you do expect it to also be a nice experience. There is a lot Peckham Bazaar should do to fix things - get some nice cocktails, play some music so we don't just listen to cars go by, and make it a meal to remember, not the one I'm hoping my friends quickly forget.

The food is 5 stars and every dish is delicious, but they seem to have doubled the size of the restaurant but not the kitchen or hired any more waiting staff - so the service is now poor. Really hope a few recent bad reviews make them realise it. Otherwise some of the best food in London.
