Outstandingly delicious and visually vibrant food in a relaxed atmosphere with a well curated list of predominantly Greek, low-intervention wine. A real neighbourhood gem that deserves greater accolades. Can’t recommend highly enough. The Breads came with Tapenade, and worked well with the Taramasalata and Babaganoush; the Marinated Pork Skewers were divine as were the Pork and Veal Keftedes. Yet I’m ashamed to admit that I was so busy enjoying the food that I forgot to take any photographs until we’d finished, but the patina of our table was beautiful.

Came here to celebrate an event with friends. The service was absolutely brilliant - very attentive but not in your face. The food was also really good - as the only vegetarian on the table I was a bit worried that I’d miss out but they made a point of bringing the vegetarian plates to me first so I didn’t miss out. The food all tasted lovely - I usually don’t enjoy cauliflower but the cauliflower steak was tasty. We also had our two kids with us - we weren’t sure they would love the menu so they added some potatoes and chicken thighs to the menu and some meatballs and rice. The kids ate it all and even enjoyed some of the main meals. Great food and service, will be back!

We went here for Valentine's. And what an absolutely terrible night. Not sure if they were understaffed or something, but the service was horrendous. It was so bad, that people were just getting up and leaving. Even some form of acknowledgement from the staff might have made a difference, but we were just made to feel like an inconvenience. Even the food felt like an afterthought, and was just ok at best.. Such a shame as I've been wanting to try here for ages, but sad to say, I'll have no reason to return..

After coming here for 7 years with confidence can say this is my favourite restaurant in London. The tldr is that you absolutely must go and see for yourself - absolutely no worlds, John is a genius. The way the food is curated , presented and served is art - as many other reviewers mentioned, the flavour profile of each dish is balanced and well thought out and the textures pair so well. There are combinations which are in theory simple that have changed the way I cook and eat, the menu always has the staples such as the courgette fritters and chicken thigh but overtime get tweaked slightly, the new dishes are added and there are seasonal specialties you might be lucky enough to catch every once in a while. The restaurant is family run and the owner often prepares the food himself - If you hear Allé! Allé! ringing out from behind the counter you know you are in for a special treat. Every time I come here I have the experience of the food critic from Ratatouille and I am yet to bring a single person here that deems the food as anything less than outstanding. Hard to put into words what makes this place so special, but I think if you spend decades honing your craft as a chef or restaurateur, this is the kind of place you’d want to create—one that feels so refreshingly real, carefully considered, and effortlessly exceptional.

Peckham Bazaar makes fantastic food, bursting with flavour - superb harmony between the exceptionally good ingredients married together by the highly talented kitchen team. A real south London gem. Mediterranean food and diverse menu that happily competes with some of the best central London restaurants. They rely on great ingredients and, whilst the menu is definitely unique and modern, it continues to respect the basics of great Mediterranean/Levantine food.

We booked a table for four at 6 pm. The restaurant was almost empty. We were given a table in the wooden decking area outside. I asked if we could be seated inside, but waitress 1 said no, we are fully booked. So we sat in the wooden decking area outside. There were some radiant lamp heaters, but on the table we were on, it didn't make much difference. The cold poured in from the wooden slats on the decking. My wife wore her thick coat throughout the meal. We both used the fleece rugs provided, although no one offered these to us. Service was slow, despite there being few customers, no one offered even a drinks order until 6.15 pm. I had a negroni, which was OK. My wife is dairy free and they did have an allergens menu, although waitress 1 didn't know what the symbols on it meant. The food is small sharing plates, and a lot of it was delicious. The best we had was the mackerel, which was sublime - served rare, with the perfect combination of smoke from the grill and salinity from the fish. The Ox cheek was falling apart tender served with a beautiful sauce. The Greek salad was super simple but utterly delicious. The prawns were also a big hit. Less impressive was the sirloin kebab - lovely accoutrements, but sirloin stands or falls with the quality of the meat, and this was unfortunately fairly bland. Another highlight was the artichoke puree served with the spinach and feta burek. I had the orange wine, Kodra Recina, which was delicious. I also asked for a glass of the greek house red, which was fizzy and tasted like ribena. Maybe that's how it is supposed to taste, but I suspect it has just been poorly kept, whether at the restaurant or in transport, I don't know. I didn't like it, and after speaking with waitress 2, who seemed to know what she was doing much more, I sent it back with no questions asked, which I did appreciate. I know I might sound picky, but at around £60 a head, I think pickiness is OK. Conclusion: I think I will come back again, lots of the dishes were delicious. My toes are slowly coming back to life from the cold! Next time, I will visit in the summer or ensure I am inside.

I love this place. It is like sitting in someone’s kitchen on a Greek island, and eating delicious home cooking. Sadly the heating was a bit broken the night we were there, so we were reminded that we were in fact in South East London! But the menu, atmosphere and service are all worthy of praise! There are also many delightful Greek wines to choose from.

Still the best Tara in town. But the tsatziki with perfect padron peppers and home-made pitta were banging too (although I suggest they put the butter in a ramekin on side rather than the massive blob melting on the pitta (looks good but my companion does not like butter and was put off) Main course of pork and veal keftedes in tomato and saganaki and also the cumin coated chicken thighs matched the high standard. Food here is always a very high standard and full of flavour and am hoping that they reignite their second branch (Dulwich Lyceum due for a new venue) soon. The decor can be described as rustic at best and to be honest it was a bit cold and draughty even in the main room but that was a function of the coldest night of the year. Always high on my list of "go to" places. Never been disappointed with the food here

Been here before and it was delicious food and lovely atmosphere. We returned one year on at the same time of the year and we couldn’t even bring ourselves to stay after 5 minutes. Mixed experience at Peckham Bazaar. Some dishes very good (the lamb and courgette fritters) while some were very average (focaccia, Octopus and the baked chocolate). Service was friendly but chaotic. One dish was forgotten and plates weren’t really cleared so we ended up eating dessert with the table still full of previous plates. We were seated in the covered outdoor part but effectively felt inside (which was good in terms of warmth), although people were smoking in the area and it wasn’t very well ventilated so that wasn’t particularly pleasant.

As the sun was out we chose to eat at the patio, sadly members of staff decided it’s ok to hoover, deep clean the car and remove a freezer from the basement located 1m from our table! Considering the meal was more than £150 im not sure it’s value for money. As it was our 10th wedding anniversary it will definitely be remembered but for wrong reasons.

Croquettes and chicken thigh were fantastic. John dory was not good. Scate was way way too salty, but on average the food was good. However, the wine is a complete disaster! There are a bunch of kids running the drinks and they have no idea how to serve or preserve wine..... 3 days old bottles of vinegar need to be thrown away and not served! If I ask for a glass of "same again" don't just give me whatever is available that has a similar name! Get a grip of your wine and you would be a credible place!

After reading recent reviews I was sceptical at first about going. But I’m glad to say we had an amazing time. The food and flavour combinations were delicious and exciting! The plate sizes are larger than you’d expect. The octopus was amazing, so was the mushroom croquettes and the sardines. The pork was also lovely but one part of the 2 was quite dry (still so good though). A perfect candle lit date for 2 food lovers (my partner is Italian and hard to impress so him saying 5 starts too is a big compliment) excited to go back soon! Lovely service and lovely place, but I found the food underwhelming and very small portions for the price you pay. All mains are £15-30 but are the size of starters, and the cheapest glass of wine is £11. That would be okay if the food was crazy tasty - but it wasn’t. The prawns were plain and the squid was fairly good. Disappointed. My main also came out 15mins before my partner and I’d finished before he started. There’s better more authentic places nearby for Greek food in Camberwell.

The food was very good but the service was abysmal - not forgetting you are charged 12.5% (in this case £22). One friendly server but very busy and always head down, and three newbies who didn't seem to know what they were doing. Dirty plates left on table for ages, new food arriving and they seemed to want us to clear and sort out the table. Why do we put up with service charge for terrible service? Y el servicio fue promedio. Dama amable sirviendo. Pero pensé 157 libras por 5 platos era un poco caro. Pero eso es Londres en estos días para cenar entre semana. The food was delicious and refined, the choice varied. We went on a Monday night so the atmosphere was understandably subdued which wasn't a problem for us. The only thing to note is the price for each dish and for drinks is rather excessive. The portion size is good however, and their recommendation of 5-6 dishes to share for 2 people is most certainly too much: 4 dishes would've been fine for us to share, and we have big appetites.

Such a disappointment. Peckham Bazaar was for many years the go to restaurant in Peckham/Nunhead. John’s cooking was worthy of Masterchef and the place was properly packed night after night. The restaurants culinary disintegration into cooking no better than a kebab shop has been shocking. Last time I went was two years ago and that wasn’t brilliant - but it still had some of the old flair. My visit this week was shockingly bad. The sauce with the salads accompanying the babaganoosh and the courgette fritters was so salty it was inedible. We then had three mains, Pork skewers , lamb chops & seared chicken thigh. The skewers were precooked/reheated and came tepid. If the sauce wasn’t from a bottle they did a damn fine job of making seem that way. The chicken thigh skin was so overcooked it was a dense black charcoal and it was impossible to detach the dry flesh inside from the skin. The lamb chops weren’t chops - but a bit of ragged shoulder with skin burnt to a crisp again. The overwhelming smell of burnt flesh hung over everything. Potatoes so overcooked they had turned to mush and artichoke cunningly transformed into a tasteless imitation of swede. The bottle of wine (they aren’t cheap) came pre-corked - so no idea of knowing what was in it. The menu specially advises that the plates are small - so you need 5 or 6 per couple. Its not true. You’ll struggle to get through two courses. But I’d seriously suggest you don’t bother. If you want good food - then go elsewhere. Eveyone else has - the place was almost empty.

A Greek salad arrived promptly then nothing for 20 minutes. We had to ask 3 times for the bread- supposedly a selection but not! We were informed late that the octopus was not available. It looked as if there was only one chef working - clearly short staffed for a Sunday lunch. I'm a bit torn as to how exactly write my review. It's a daily changing menu and the sample menu had one or two veggie main dishes. We arrived (for our wedding anniversary) and out of eight mains, not a single one was vegetarian. Not acceptable in my opinion. My husband is veggie and if we had known, we would have not booked the place. We asked about a veggie main, the waiter said there's nothing. Another one then came and said they could make shashuka. Well, that's breakfast/brunch, not dinner! He had to stick to starters which you don't want to do. I then ordered the fish main course to then hear it's not available. Well, why am I not being told and it's crossed out? He came back 5 mins later only to tell me that the fish is arriving in 5 minutes. What? The fennel salad arrived but without the blood oranges. Nobody said anything. I asked, the waiter went to check, never came back. The food we had was lovely but the overall experience was surreal. Not what I had envisioned for my wedding anniversary. Drinks expensive!

Fantastic food. Honestly, some of the best bread I’ve eaten. Strongly, strongly recommend getting the sirloin for main. My only suggestion to the owners… It’s a bit “Bazaar” that you can only get Tzatziki when ordering a starter… it’d be amazing to be able to pay for some dips to go with the bread.

Vine aquí ayer para el almuerzo y honestamente puedo decir que la comida que tuvimos era absolutamente maravilloso. Los sabores fueron exquisitos al igual que la presentación. No puedo recomendar este restaurante más acogedor

I have been meaning to write this review for ages! Booked a birthday dinner here for 20 people at 6pm. There was a train strike that day so guests arrived up to 45 mins late. What the restaurant didn't tell us that the booked was for only 2 hours and they had another large party coming at 8pm! Understandably we were a late but I have had dinner with 2 friends that has taken longer than 2 hours and we were not informed of this before. Food was great but we felt like they just wanted us in and out, they were literally throwing meals across the table to get us out quicker and we had to eat our dessert in the smoking area (it was February so anyone out there was only smoking). For a nearly thousand pound bill and considering the table was booked for 20 people I can't understand why it was only 2 hours?!

Food was pretty good but the service isn’t very good on each of the few occasions I’ve been. Waiting 30 mins to order, forgetting what you ordered, an hour to receive food, didn’t clear any plates away all meal etc. Shame as the food is always good. Also expensive compared to local similar restaurants

Seated outside in the cold despite reservation being for inside. Most wine and menu items were unavailable. Lamb was fatty but dessert was nice. Coffee machine was broken. Restaurant declined to provide a refund in response to email complaint - the explanation was that issues were due to the restaurant being busy but they would offer a £20 voucher (not all that helpful as no intention to return).

Really nice place, tasty food and very good service. But not filling up. Portions are small for the price but tasty.

Where do I start ? A complete waste of time. The service is non-existant. First came the unpleasant surprise of finding that the menu was different from the online menu with fewer options and higher prices ! After waiting over an hour for one of the main courses we found out they hadn't even started cooking it (the place wasn't even busy ) the staff were completely dismissive. At that point we decided to leave and go to another restaurant as we were still hungry !

I don't really want to write this review in case it gets inundated with bookings. I have been to Peckham Bazaar maybe ten times now, and every time feels like the first time. John and the team are remarkable and should be exceptionally proud of the fabulous experience every singe person experiences. The food is just magical, fresh, seasonal and not overwhelming in terms of portion sizes. It just keeps coming. The staff, the ambience, the decor is wonderful. Do yourself a favour and get yourself down there.

I booked PB about a month ago for my GFs birthday on Sat, 18th May, this evening (16th May) they rang to say they were cancelling our booking due to them having taken a booking for a private party. This restaurant have told me in me past, they prioritise booking from family and friends, but cancelling a booking with 2 days to go is unacceptable. If you do manage to get in the food and wine is good, but don’t be surprised If they ring and cancel you.

I been meaning to go here since it opened so this visit was long overdue. So happy I finally got to experience the wonderful food on offer, served in a cosy dinning room. Good service and very reasonable prices for the quality. I'll be back.

The food was great and the table service very good but the delivery was so slow. Four people ordered six dishes which took almost an hour to arrive. Then a further four dishes, three of them the same took almost another hour in all our meal was spread over two and a half hours and that was without desert. I like slow food but this was beyond slow. Wine was £39 for a decent cote du Rhône. However, on a positive note, the food was delicious but not sure we’d return.

Great food and ambience but, the service was really bad. The waiter and waitress were not attentive and we kept having to call for them. They also kept forgetting things we asked for e.g. we had to ask for my bfs drink twice and for the candle to be lit. Such a shame as everything else was great. I would also say the food is a overpriced.

The food at Tas remains reliable and the service is almost always good. This branch has a more limited selection of meze but more adventurous mains than many similar places, including other branches of the same chain.

A review of our meal at Rabot on 7th January 2023 - booked via OpenTable in September 2022 . hmmm where to start ... Well as the restaurant apparently closed in September and Open Table elected not to advise us. So as the booking experience was appallingly bad And the meal was non-existent I cannot really review or recommend somewhere I was sadly not able to go can I?! OpenTable asking for a review for the booking we were unable to enjoy was the invisible icing on a non-existent cake.

From an "Italian" restaurant open since 1987 I would expect the menu written with authentic Italian grammar and a slightly better food quality

Very special place, I dined here for my birthday and it was very special. A lot of attention and details have been put here, definitely recommend.
