Met up with a good friend here for a best friend’s catch up and much needed supportive heart to heart- it was the perfect informal spot as half way between our homes, very near the station. The staff are absolutely fabulous with lovely service. They made us feel very comfortable to stay and chat with no pressure to leave. The food was very good. We had the mixed hot and cold mixed meze combinations and was perfect for us as one a meat eater and one a vegetarian. Generous portions and delicious. Thank you guys for giving us a lovely evening. The Baileys and Tia Maria was the perfect finishing touch. We’ll be back!

Very polite helpful and friendly staff. Free onsite parking and plenty of street parking. Evening and weekends are the most busy times. Always pre-book before visiting. Nice place for large families and groups. I have visited this place a lot of times... never disappointed.

Food was nice. Service could be better - no forks or knives with meal, no salt/pepper despite English breakfast, and orange juice not brought over even though we ordered it. Had to go to the till twice during our meal to enquire about this all.

Stunning hotel excellent service. Beautiful room spotless everything you need. Robes toiletries. Refrigerator. Staff first class so helpful. House keeping absolutely spot on . Gardens amazing & the lake a lovely suprise. Breakfast cooked to perfection thsnkyou chef Sudip. Excellent stay. I love the rooms are in line with the house. It provides all modern amenities yet a touch of crush velvet gives it a feel to fit the property profile.

Prices make it poor value for lunch, as the special lunch menu has now gone. Food is nice enough, cosy venue. Tea after lunch was so weak we skied for another tea bag to be put in the tea pot. The waiter returned and said it would be another £1! Says it all. Profit before service and value.

Lovely Hotel with an interesting history and characterful restaurant. This time we were seated in the old dining room as the main eating area was being done up but nevertheless it did not detract from the eating experience. Our meals were excellent and freshly prepared for us, my beer battered fish and chips was enormous, so much so I could not eat it all- shame. 10% added as service charge which is common place these days. Recommended.

We live nearby and pop in occasionally for cream tea on special occasions. It's always been somewhere between good and great for food and service. But this last trip was a bit like visiting Fawlty Towers. We wandered around trying to find someone, anyone, that might work there. Eventually someone gestured in the vague direction of a cold room with stark, uncovered wooden tables. Eventually, about 15 minutes after we sat down, someone offered us both a menu. About 15 minutes later we asked for water... this request was satisfied eventually. So about 30 minutes in and we had water. We tried to order but at that point we realised that we had different menus. So these menus were whisked away and we had only our water to entertain us... I'll stop there but it wasn't great. Borderline awful. It's gone from delicious treats and great service in a beautiful tea room to water in a cupboard. Good luck.
