Prices make it poor value for lunch, as the special lunch menu has now gone. Food is nice enough, cosy venue. Tea after lunch was so weak we skied for another tea bag to be put in the tea pot. The waiter returned and said it would be another £1! Says it all. Profit before service and value.

We , as couples, have always had a pleasant time at the Hare with both food and staff. Sometimes the service can be hit and miss but we don’t mind that too much as it’s usually on very busy times. We had booked the 14th June and this was the last time we frequented, and probably won’t again. I have food allergies to chillies and peppers, which can be tricky as they are not the usual types of allergies but I have always managed to find an appropriate dish wherever we go.I always tell the waitress of my allergies and they make a note of I ordered a starter of crab and sweetcorn bites, followed by a lamb dish ( not available on latest menu) The waitress returned after taking our orders to the kitchen to tell me that the starter I had ordered had chillies in, but only a small amount. ( it was not on the list of ingredients on the menu) Obviously I couldn’t have it no matter how small the amount was. I then ordered something else and again she returned telling me that it had red pepper in it , again, not on ingredient list, so again I refused it and asked her if she could get the chef to recommend something for me that would be ok. She returned a couple of minutes later telling me that the chef had rolled his eyes and told her to tell me to “have bread and butter”!!!! As you can imagine I was aghast. But we were so far into the experience, my husband and our friends had already had their starter, that I just agreed. I was made to feel a complete nuisance, and our friends couldn’t believe what they had heard. Suffice to say, we have not and will not return. I urge you all, if you have any allergies, please be careful.

Came across this place on our walk through the common. Really lovely place with a beautiful garden which is child friendly. Felt so relaxed here and it has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are lovely. We had some chips with our drinks and they were very tasty. Definitely will be coming here again to try their main menu.

Nice place, service was very good, the garden (where we are) is wonderful. Came for Sunday lunch, was not too busy, staff were nice but rushed off their feet a bit. I had the duck breast which was slightly overcooked for me, the carrots it came with were boiled and no glaze, and the Dauphinous dry with very little cream. The food can be better but worth remembering they are charging a reasonable amount, the service was good and it was busy. We had a carafe of white wine which was very good and good value too. We will come back. This place is good, if they get the food right, it can be excellent.

We enjoyed a really lovely late afternoon meal at The Hare today. Tranquil atmosphere outside where we ate the most delicious food. I chose the Confit Barbary duck leg with citrus sauce - it was so tasty- l could have eaten it all over again. My husband's Cornish beef burger looked equally delicious and my son's West Country lamb perfect. We couldn't resist the Pistachio souffle. ....so mouthwatering! One of the most delightful puddings l have ever tucked into. Our waitress Maxine was friendly, and very at ease with customers. If only everyone you met was so charming. Compliments to her and their great chef..You must visit if you want to experience some excellent food. We drove up from Lyme Regis this morning...what a great way to end our day...

Lovely little pub totally spoilt by the arrogant Italian waiter /Owner/ Barman! Waited 13 mins after track n trace scan - got fed up waiting and being 100% ignored as a customer, not even a ‘I’ll be with you on a minute’. So sat down….. waited another 14 minutes for my other half to get two drinks. Meanwhile arrogant waiter came to the table and said I’d sat at a dirty table. Hello! Why didn’t you clean it after the last person left!!!?? Can’t sit outside unless you open a tab - Well I’m not sitting inside, it’s lovely weather and we are sitting in the pub garden. Meanwhile others were coming in and being ignored by arrogant waiter and Lady (think owner again), sitting at tables that hadn’t been cleared or cleaned after last person(s) sat there, only because they also had been 100% ignored. Ok if you’re going to make a song and dance about cleaning, clean it properly, clean the seats as well as the tables but not with the cloth you’ve just dropped on the floor where the dog was sittingWith its owner. She left a lovely dirty table for the next person - where she put the dog food dish (that the dog had just been slobbering over) on the table where food was bought out and placed, on the table that you hadn’t cleaned and the table that someone else sat on to eat their food! Next time perhaps Mr Italian Waiter don’t be so rude to your customers as clearly you picked on the wrong one! You got your review 1 out of 10. Oh that’s for 20% gratuity that you stuck on our bill for arrogant service, arrogant communication and no food!! Yes people out there this did happen 100%, so possibly give this one some thought.

The Hare was welcoming guests for the last day until after this lockdown so the atmosphere was quite lively. \The food, with their new chef, was really good and the portions generous. Some of the staff were friendly but that would be only slight downside - the inattentiveness of the staff, That said, once we hailed someone, they were polite and dealt with our requests.Certain to return as soon as they re-open

Very spur of the moment and very lucky to get a table last minute in order to beat the new lockdown rules, we thought we would pop out and make the most of revisiting this restaurant that we always very much enjoy. I had the cheese soufflé to start with, an absolute joy. My husband had the fish soup and he said it was excellent. I followed with the boeuf bourguignon which is always delicious and certainly did not disappoint and my husband had the duck. We had no room left but could not resist a last hurrah figuring we had the next month to burn all this off and so we shared the pistachio soufflé served with chocolate ice cream and we were glad we did, it was absolutely delicious. We do like to support local restaurants and this one never disappoints. During these dreadful times it was a most welcome night out, all Covid rules adhered to, we felt very safe and comfortable. The staff are attentive and friendly and the service is good. It will be top of my list when things hopefully reopen December 2nd. Highly recommend.

And these days, that matters.... The garden at the back is away from the road, and attractive, with quite a few tables. We were walking a section of the London Loop, and this made a perfect stopping off spot for lunch. We had exited The Case is Altered (pub up the road) as we were not allowed to eat outside despite there being a lovely deck area with tables, and actually this was a much better choice. This is a gastropub, and the menu choices were wide ranging. Service was extremely friendly.

They seem to have “another” new manager. Booked for 6pm on a Saturday as we have on a fortnightly basis for the last 6 years. At 7.10 pm we were offered another drink by the lovely waitress , we were about to look at the desert menu when we were advised my the Manager that the table was needed for 7.30pm and to finish our drinks. His manner was very rude and abrupt especially when we questioned why we were not told this a) when making reservation b) when ordering . £85 spent in just over an hour on food that was mediocre. We come here mainly for the service and atmosphere. This has left a bad taste in our mouth and luckily have found nicer places locally to eat now and won’t be returning. Would of thought that due to new regulations they should book people in for 6-8pm and 8-10pm.

I have never seen such small portions which made it poor value for money. The gravadlax was a joke, the gammon steak tiny, the beef Bourgogne minuscule and even the glass of wine was barely a mouthful. Coupled with that , the managers attitude stank when we complained why people were sat on top of us in a virtually empty restaurant at 4 in the afternoon - totally oblivious to Covid distancing !Felt ripped off with the small portion sizes, especially as prices not cheap - such a shame for what used to be a very nice place to eat . Booked The Hare as it had no time restrictions (well I thought). Met up with my college friendS of 20 years since pre lock down. Some of us hadn’t see each other for about 6 months. When booking I Saw there were no time restrictions at The Hare and it was half way for most. Our waitress was an angle, she was sweet and lovely. The manager on the other hand totally the opposite. After ordering drinks and 20 mins into my reservation he came and told me it was government guidelines to have the table for two hours which is totalRubbish! It might be their policy and if so say that but don’t blame the government. I explained the reason I booked and he told me it was in my confirmation which it was not. We carried on and ordered food and at at 9pm he was pushing us to finish up. I asked the waitress if the table was booked and she advised it was not. We then orders dessert and more drinks but felt like the manager was just being awkward for no reason. They were not busy and should have been grateful fir a group of 6 spending their cash. To be honest the food was very average...I had the steak and ale pie and it was filled with cheap bacon and potatoes. I live in Barnet and go to The Gate for their pie and this did not compare at all. My other friend had the jack fruit fritters and salad which she enjoyed with her cheese soufflé. My opinion, food is 5/10 and there are much better pubs out there that do food. I think the manager left a sour taste that night after being awkward with us fir no reason.

Been a few times, most notably for an anniversary dinner recently. Covid precautions were reassuring. We booked in advance. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. We ordered a variety of drinks, and had three courses. All very pleasing. Prosecco and a very decent old fashioned, shared Moroccan mezze, the stone bass and steak, lemon parfait and mango and pineapple crumble, a Viognier and a Malbec, and a glass it port and a bramble. All excellent. It’s a really nice country gastropub, near to Harrow, far enough away from town to be free of the “beer guzzling set”. Good atmosphere. Pre-covid it was a bustling friendly venue as well. Near to Grimm’s Dyke.

The only reason I have given this restaurant 2 stars is because the waiting staff were very pleasant. The food, although reasonable, was in very short supply. I don’t believe I have ever seen such small portions. When we arrived we were shown to our table and felt very Covid safe. However, when we had finished our meal and were waiting to order coffee, a family of 4, including 2 young teenagers, walked in to the restaurant and sat right next to us. This when the restaurant was very nearly empty. We did speak to the manager and asked why they were sitting where they were when there was no one else in the place! He replied, very rudely we felt, that they were entitled to sit where they wanted and it was our choice if we wanted to leave. He then presented us with our bill! He refused to see our point of view, or to even offer us another table to have our coffees. We left and definitely won’t be returning.

Eaten here twice recently with friends, for Sunday lunch and also a midweek meal. Food is very tasty and generous portions. Sunday lunch service was a bit manic even with social distancing! The food was very good but was slapped down and we didn't even get a chance to ask for salt/pepper/sauces etc! We ended up trying to attract a server and eventually asked 3 different people for what we wanted. Saying that, we did enjoy Sunday lunch! We also had a midweek meal with different friends, taking advantage of the £10 off pp offer still running. We had nibbles to share followed by their legendary Boeuf Bourguignon, burger and fries and the Asian style stone bass. Was a bit surprised that our plates hadn't been cleared away before the mains were served though! The food again was faultless, but service a bit hit and miss as usual! A bit more training for the waiting staff would probably sort the problem out. Can't really complain whilst the offer is still on though.

In August we had a very good meal here under the Government eat out scheme and were delighted to be told by our waitress that the restaurant was continuing with the discount to £ 10 offer throughout September at its own expense. We therefore booked then and there for September and confirmed by telephone a few days later. We once again had a very good meal with friends, but the evening was ruined when we were told that we could not have the offer as we had not signed up to their mailing list to receive a code icon on our phones. At no time were we advised either when we made the initial reservation or when we confirmed by phone that the offer only applied if you signed up to be bombarded with mailing. After much arguing the manager gave us a £ 20 discount (as there were 4 of us it would have been £ 40 under the offer) and we left most angry that the White Brasserie Company's offer is so misleading.

You book a table (for just drinks or food) then when you arrive you are seated then ignored. For 10 minutes. Really miss not being able to go to the bar. Also 10 percent service charge added to your drinks for the pleasure of having them brought to your table . Not ideal to visit here now if just having a drink. Maybe that’s there intention?

We’ve been twice so far, going with family this week and again next week! The new menu and the new chef are fabulous! We enjoyed the delicious meze starter (pictured), potted crab, tasty dips, Malabar fish curry, sea bass, duck, ‘to die for’ pistachio soufflé, lemon parfait and chocolate fondant, plus lovely mocktails/cocktails - all really wonderful! They’ve done very well to COVID-secure the restaurant without making it clinical, and made us feel very safe with screens and ‘furloughing’ tables if nearby, hand sanitiser, staff wearing visors and there’s lots of tables outside too. The staff were attentive and friendly. We also liked that there was no noisy music so we didn’t have to shout across the table, making a pleasant and calm atmosphere.Very kind that they have extended the £10 discount per person in September if on the mailing list, so we can go more often to this superb restaurant. We know the menu well so we picked old favourites. The chicken liver parfait was the wrong texture and a different colour to what it used to be. It tasted nothing like a parfait more like a cheap mass produced pate. We told the waiter who said he would speak to the chef - we heard nothing. My friend ordered Malabar fish curry another favourite. The fish had a smell that resembled nail polish remover, and the prawn was so overcooked it was like rubber. She could not eat it. She told the waitress who did not comment. I ordered the salmon which was edible but tiny, dry, and tasteless. The only saving grace was the pistachio soufflé . We expected an apology at least but it was not forthcoming. The standard has dropped incredibly and it will be a long time before/if we venture back.

We had a terrible meal yesterday the Beef & Ale pie had more potato than beef ! And the Thai Curry was water thin and the Veg in it completely under cooked. What really made us mad is that the Manager argued with my wife saying it was perfect and how they always prepare it: rubbish. If you go there only have the steaks as they can’t mess that up and they and the burgers are ok. Should of stayed closed if they can’t produce food to a good standard. Very disappointing

We visited the Hare last night and were very much looking forward to be out and about, meet friends and feel a bit normal. The four of us chose this restaurant as we have always enjoyed it here in the past so when we heard it was opening up a few weeks ago on the 24th of August we were quick to book a reservation for last night. The weather was good so we were able to sit outside but had it not have been and we were inside we noted all social distancing was observed, partitions had been placed in strategic areas where necessary and the staff all wore protective face visors, all in all very reassuring and I would not hesitate to eat inside as the winter months role in. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent and friendly as always. The food was all delicious and served nice and hot. Our friends had the fish soup, which I would highly recommend and will probably order myself next time, my husband had the gravlax, I did not have a starter as I was saving myself for the main course which I was really looking forward to. Again from the beef bourguignon,to the duck, to the dressed crab and my beef and ale pie everything was on point. All topped off with a fantastic pistachio soufflé served with chocolate ice cream, worthy of any restaurant. All in all a highly successful and most enjoyable evening. We will certainly be returning soon and highly recommend you visit and enjoy.

So pleased this lovely venue is back open! We ate here for lunch on the 3rd day of reopening and it had a lovely buzzy atmosphere! The manager greeted us very warmly on arrival, whuch was lovely. Antibac gel on arrival, staff were wearing face protectors and large screen inbetween tables, disposal menus too so we all felt very safe. Only the main menu was available, so we chose from that. We ordered olives and the baguette with 3 dips just as nibbles as we were having large mains. The dips in particular were delicious and just enough to start whilst we were waiting for our main course. We also ordered a lovely bottle of chilled rosè and a g&t for our friend. There was quite a long wait for the drinks, but Wayne took over serving us and eventually sorted the drinks out. Two of us had the amazing boeuf bourguignon with red wine sauce and mash, and my husband had the free range Cornish beef burger with chips. Unfortunately, the bourguignon was not very warm, so both had to go back, but Wayne again came to our rescue to sort it out and it was no problem - in a short while we had fresh plates of this lovely French casserole which were piping hot. All in all, we had a relaxing time, albeit with a couple of small issues- probably to be expected after just re-opening. We are all looking forward to coming back. I would have given this review five stars had it not been for the few issues we had, but the main thing is that they were put right in the end.

However looking for somewhere to have dinner locally we decided to give it another try especially after checking the recent reviews. Well it was fabulous. We were very warmly welcomed and seated in a nice large table for two. We started with a glass of wine each - an excellent Savingon blanc and Malbac. We shared starters of Chicken Liver Parfait and Aubergine Dips which was delicious and went on to a Burger and Beef Bourguignon, again both Delicious. The service was excellent, not rushed and everyone so friendly and nice. We will definitely be going there again.I have just realised that my review of December was incompeteted so am now adding more here in January. We have now been 3 times and have to say it just gets better and better. Last evening I had the Goan Hake Curry which was absolutely delicious

Decided to go for Sunday lunch at late notice. It is predictably busy so you do need to book in advance! We managed to get a late table.Service was a bit slow to start with but it was extremely busy . After initial wait for drinks it sped up a bit! It was friendly and charming service so easily forgiven. The Sunday menu is exceptionally good value for money. 2 courses for £20, 3 for £25. There is a good choice of dishes, and given the late time we were there for lunch there was only 1 dish not available.Overall food was good, not the best roast beef I have ever had but certainly superior to most equally priced pub roasts in the local area. We had a very relaxed lunch and some nice wine. Also we weren’t chased for the table back which is always appreciated.I believe they are being refurbed in the next few months as well so look forward to returning then.

Every time we visit The Hare we are always made to feel like family. Carl and Sascha are both excellent at what they do and nothing is too much trouble. They are practically clairvoyant in understanding what we would like to order or when we need a refill and the food is always exceptional. The dog-friendliness of this pub is also a huge plus and again, our dogs love the attention they get. Simply the best pub for miles around and we’ll keep coming back!

We were a group of ten for Sunday lunch and can highly recommend both the friendly service and the food, which included proper non-meat options (as opposed to yet another nut roast). Excellent beers and wine list,

Beef and ale pie had 3 or 4 pieces of beef in an already very small pie.How can you charge £14.50 for this??Get rid of the little glass of ale on the side and concentrate on offering a more value for money portion.Pie itself tasted very nice.We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday. Staff seemed tired and overworked. Not many smiles and needed to be prompted. At these prices (higher end of pub spectrum) the service should be much better.

We went here for a family celebration. We were a group of 10 and had to pre-order our food choices. It was rather dis-organised when we arrived. The head waitress or manager (not sure what her role was) was rather brusque. She was totally inflexible in her approach, lacked any courtesy or personality. The food is standard pub food. Nothing special. Food arrived about half an hour after we arrived .The mussels were over cooked (shrivelled) and over salted. The fishcake was dry and lacked flavour. More potato than fish. The steak, lamb tagine, chicken were ok. Deserts were average. The crumble was short of crumble. Overall the experience was disappointing. Specific instructions we gave to the head lady were ignored. She really couldn’t be bothered. I’m sure this pub restaurant could be very good. We clearly hit on a bad evening or maybe this is the way they carry on, but get away with it. When you spend a lot of money on a special occasion the least you expect is good food and service. They missed both. Won’t be rushing back.

Went into the Hare for the first time in about 10 years and found probably 3 of the rudest Members of staff I have had the misfortune to meet. Barman looked like I’d asked to take his first born child when I asked what white wines were available and did he have a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot, held up a bottle and said “this ones the only one and dunno what it is” whilst almost shoving it in my face “are you serving food?” we asked hopefully “No!”, we got back curtly, “do you have any crisps we asked” “yup”, “can you please tell us the flavours”, queue pretty much eye rolling as if he was doing us a massive favour, subsequently went on to meet the other 2 staff members who had obviously attended the very same charm school. Grunts and eye rolls, it was actually awkward and not a pleasant environment by any means. I was actually grateful to leave. Will not be returning to visit anytime soon as myself and my guest were made to feel most unwelcome. I would personally NOT recommend this place. Shame as it had a very pretty beer garden that could be charming in the Summer.

The Hare delivers both OUTSTANDING service and VERY good cuisine to a crowd of mostly regulars who obviously make their reservations a long time ahead at the peak times of Saturday evening and Sunday lunch, and no doubt many other slots too. If you have never been you know what you have to do and if you have just sit back and bask in the knowledge that you are one of the happy not so few ;-)

The Hare at Old Redding encapsulates an old pub in a modern setting. It has good and welcoming decor and the staff are always very attentive and helpful. Car parking is good but a little care is needed when leaving as the car park entrance is very close to a busy road junction. My wife and I have visited several times recently and always find it a very good place to meet friends. Food and service is always very good.

We spent New Year's eve with some friends and had a really enjoyable evening. The food, atmosphere and band, who were in residence that evening, were good. Everybody was having a good time and it was very friendly. Even though the place was packed the food was on time and tasty. This is the 3rd New Year's eve we have spent here and have always found it to be a convivial place to see the New Year in.

Since the refurb a year or so ago we have been meaning to visit as we live nearby, but never found the time to go into today. I wish I had made more of an effort as it was superb! For me service is everything and a friendly lady greeted us as soon as we were in the door. The waiter was friendly courteous and efficient. The food was exceptional. Truthfully I expected it to be slightly above average, but it was quite a few notches up from that. My wife went for the grilled cauliflower and truffle cream which was beautifully presented and was as tasty as it looked. The prices were also really good. Meal for two (one with lunchtime menu) with one alcoholic drink was just under £45 with service. I will certainly be going again.

we were on holiday in london for the first time and to taste something typical english, we chose your place. We were thrilled and satisfied with both the service and the cuisine. The boy who served us was very patient and was able to advise us well, as the dish that struck us most of all was "the duck", never tried before. Delicious, soft and tasty, we highly recommend it! Sincere congratulations to all the staff for the kindness and professionalism !!! Da Salvatore, Massimo, Francesca e Vanessa

Food very average ( not fish on the menu ). Sunday roasts and a burger as a main course so not great although a cheese soufflé as a starter was good. Parking on pub/ restaurant premises so it was easy and the staff were delightful. Wine list was good as you would expect Value for money - yes. Choices limited

not as good as it thinks it is. Food is fine but not near being exceptional. Garden is nice in summer. A fair number of rooms in whihc to eat so it doesn't seem as large as it is. I have been a number of times and never really disappointed, but equally never particularly impressed. It does quite well as there isn't a lot of similar places locally -but I wouldnt travel far for a meal here. Fine, if a little expensive, for a drink.

My boyfriend and I visited The Hare for the first time for an afternoon lunch. We were served by Venus, she was an absolutely amazing host. Venus was very attentive to our needs and very patient (we were a fussy couple). She made sure we were well looked after. We both ordered the duck leg which was lovely!! Atmosphere was relaxing and decor was very cosy leading up to Christmas.

We made a huge mistake going for Sunday lunch today. It was 15 minutes before we were offered drinks, 1/2 hour before they took our order, no starters just roast beef mains. 50 mins later it came to the table cold & without an apology. We had to ask for horseradish, ask for fresh hot Yorkshire puds etc. The vegetables were undercooked to raw. Coffee arrived cold . Good management would have apologised for the delay & seen we at least had complimentary bread sent to the table & kept us updated. What a shame as the restaurant is lovely & the food tho cold was flavoursome.

Called in for a quick lunch. The place was quiet when we arrived, but got quite busy (even for a Monday!). Extensive menu, but a varied selection. The Mussels were excellent - except the portion was a bit small (I thought). A nice place and I understand it can get very busy at times. I will hope to return and try more choices from the menu. Some nice small private dining areas, but lots of steps to find the toilets.

I visited with my girlfriend, we were told the roast was out of stock (understandable as it was around 4PM) - ordered another chicken dish and a steak instead. My girlfriend opted for the 2 course and myself just the steak. When the bill came they had charged for 2 x 2 courses despite us only ordering one, and only getting one dessert.

It's Sunday and I'm feeling bored. I went to Cafe Nero at Harrow on the hill and tried their pistachio iced Cafe latte plus their new Italian cream bun. It's a waste of money! Horrible taster of both items! Never again!

10 of us gathered as location was ideal for various family members travelling from different directions. Several decided to have some items from breakfast menu and how they regretted the choice!! It is clear it was kept under a hot light before being served as it certainly wasn't freshly prepared. Try eating a piece of card board and you get the idea of the quality of the bacon. The butter provided for the luke warm toast covered maybe 1/4 of the slice and no more was provided when asked for. Hot drinks were fine and pastries etc were also fine. However the cooked items were a massive disappointment. Oh, the lady serving didn't really do a good job of being the public face of the establishment!!!.
