Going Greek is Going Downhill
Takeaway from the Colindale branch – Friday, 2 May 2025
Sadly, this once-excellent place seems to be cutting corners. The photos speak for themselves – this is what £12.00 gets you now.
There are no holes in the chicken pieces from skewers, unlike in the past when they were properly grilled. That’s likely because the chicken portions are now too small to be threaded onto skewers at all.
Of course, prices have increased across the board due to higher costs of produce and electricity. Customers understand this. But raising prices while reducing quality is unacceptable. It's not just disappointing – it feels like an insult to loyal customers who supported you when the food was genuinely good.
If this is a wider cost-cutting directive across all Going Greek branches, it's a very poor business decision. Word will spread, and you'll lose your regulars.
And although I wish it weren’t the case in 2025, I must echo what another reviewer said: there's still clear favouritism in how quickly people are served and in portion sizes. It’s disheartening. You may as well rename the chain “Speak Greek”.
This is no way to treat customers – and no way to run a business.

Thank you so much for the lovely, attentive and personal service. From the reception staff asking whether it was a special occasion, to the lovely wait staff, and the personal touch of the "Congratulations" complimentary sorbet, the whole evening was exactly what I wanted, from start to finish.
It's refreshing to come to London and experience value, quality and service in a restaurant with a beautiful setting.
This is the best steak spot I’ve been too the front of house staff Claudia and Aida were super stars made my experience the best ever will definitely be back very soon.
We sat in the garden area, which was beautiful. The staff were mediocre, but that may have been due to the number of tables they were responsible for serving. The food was HORRIBLE!!!! This is definitely NOT traditional Polish food. We are from Poland and so we know. Even if we were not expecting traditional food, it was just terrible food in general and far from upscale. £165 for 3 people and we feel very ripped off and disappointed. I do not mind paying that amount if we enjoy our meals, but everything was sub-par. All dishes ordered were way too salty and strange combinations that no Polish person would use. French fries with steak tartare!!??! Steak tartare that arrives pre-mixed!!?!? Do not waste your money!!! This restaurant should be ashamed of the food they are serving and the way they are falsely marketing their establishment.
Now we understand why there were no other Polish people dining there - they know it is not real Polish food and are avoiding this restaurant. Lesson learned. YUCK!!!!!!
***UPDATE*** sick all night after dining in this restaurant***

Wasn't the best I was excited about the tiger prawns as I saw them on the menu and I got shrimps instead, the cocktail was unbalanced I had to mix myself to make it a bit better, were you serve a wine ready to drink the cocktail should be the same. In the internet shows things that you will not find anymore at the place "It's internet 2025, just update it". The place itself is not bad but needs improvement
As we joined Brick Lane we were immediately approached by their street person, offering us 20% off, and a good seat. We explained that we wanted to look around first, and soon the offer changed to Starter, main, poppadum and nann, plus two drink for £25 each.
We agreed this was worth a try… we were wrong.
It took 20 mins to take our orders. Then when the starter came (2x Sheek kebab and veg pakora) they were grossly undercooked. The pakora was still wet/ mushy inside, and the kebabs so pail, they may have still been alive?
We asked to speak to the manager and pointed out the food was under/uncooked and asked if we could pay for what we’d had and leave. What followed was comical.
They took the food away, and refused to let us pay until they’d offered us a new selection of certainly cooked ( charged) food. We again explained that we’d like to pay ( not eat any more food) and leave. They then attempted to charge us for 5x papadums ( we’d had 3), and eventually charged us £24.90 for 3 paoadums and three cobras.
We then left.
They were polite! But way too busy, and crowded, and I feel this is what led to the slow service and rushed ( undercooked food).
I know they have a good rating and plenty of photos of them with celebrities… I’d suggest the high TA score is more to do with them asking customers to give a good report prior to receiving their bill and/or the extravagant discounts.
