The Kenton in Hackney

A notably average and weird at best pub

We came here on a pub walk and as it wasn't too cold we sat in the outdoor snug to watch the rugby. I had an apple kombucha. The pub itself is very comfortable and has a friendly atmosphere.

Had a lovely time celebrating my birthday here in the Odin's Corner space. The pub is cosy and has such a unique decor, with lots of character and so much to ponder over! There's a wide beer selection on tap with some local brews too. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Will be returning again soon :)

Great spot for the football or a post festival beer.

Good beer and a great range of it, nice staff. Ordered pizza from Yard Sale which was excellent, nice set up. Went at 1pm on a Sunday before the bank holiday and was pretty quiet.

Perfect small-ish winter boozer

having woken up with the sun hitting my face i thought it to be a fine tuesday! it, however, did not take long for my blissful existence to be rudely disturbed by bad news- the worst perhaps. but alas one must overcome the trials and tribulations of the everyday to be successful in this life and so i so bravely soldiered on when i was met with yet more catastrophic information. i had been let go of from my job, the job i had worked tirelessly day and night to get which kept me afloat just over the breadline. and i was let go for no fault of my own as i am a desire to work with i was just a simple miscommunication surrounding how the laptop became unfit to function due to mindfulness related bath work, but i digress. regardless, i allowed myself to be convinced by a dear friend of whom i had previously arranged social engagements with to go to the pub. we had thought that some simple jovial fun would turn the day around yet. i must admit that i have never been so sorely MISTAKEN in my life! in fact the day went only further downhill as i was so rudely treated by one of this establishments staff. the staff member in question seemingly went around with no consideration for the fact that some of us may have received cancer diagnoses or been so wrongly dismissed from ones workplace all in the span of a day. i have heard of bad customer service before but this quite literally may have ruined my life (especially due to the loss of my personal laptop to similar mindfulness based exercises i embarked on whilst completing this review), when i moved to this city to become a struggling actor, the dream, i did not expect the most treacherous part to be existing in an east london pub! and may i just say, if the gentleman, well, not so gentle man in question is reading this - good day to you sir !

Nice little on route establishment to Olympic Park 🚶‍♂️

Usually a great place to visit but think I just had a bad experience this evening. Not allowed to have birthday cake here - in case that’s something you were planning to do. Had a bartender be quite aggressive with me after I thought a cocktail he made had something left out of it. Usually they’d just taste it to make sure - instead he was just quite rude. Again, thinks it’s a one off - but not necessarily a place I’d visit for a special occasion where you wanted everything to be nice :)

The staff behind the bar were really nice. The beer was good and the atmosphere was decent. Didn't have any food so can't comment but would love to try if we visit again.

My favourite pub in Hackney! Sports, food, great beers and atmosphere... they've got it all. We made use of the Karaoke room in the back last Saturday night and had a great time. Morgan, Caitlin and the guys made us feel very at home. Would definitely recommend!

It was a dream to come here. Unfortunately they do not have “wowsers in my trousers” anymore; but they still have amazing beer.

I absolutely love everything about the Kenton ! always my go to for drinks with friends , great music and the best atmosphere. My friends and I had a fantastic time using the karaoke room . Really good space for fun with friends and a laugh :))

Absolutely great boozer, might even be my favourite in London after one visit. The manager (Morgan I think) was also a top guy and was good to see bossman on site delivering some chat - makes it feel like a real pub. Bonus points for all the bizarre decor and surprisingly hard arcade games loaded into lucky tables. Totally made up for watching England lose. Big love.

Had the BEST night here recently in the new karaoke booth! So much fun and makes such a great evening being able to hang out in the pub then do a bit of singing, then heading back into the pub. Will be back soon!!!

Had a fantastic night in the Kenton recently, still one of the best pubs in London. The staff are amazing and the place is super cool. Hired the karaoke room with a bunch of mates and had one of the most hilarious nights. THANKS the Kenton!

I love the Kenton. They are always so welcoming and I love the vibe there. We hired their new karaoke room for a girls night and had so much fun. We booked it from 8-10pm and then had to reluctantly get out for the next group. Luckily we could go back in from 11-1am and they had to drag us out because the pub was shutting! So so fun. Can’t wait to do it again.

I live in hackney and never came to this pub, although it was really recommended. It was not a surprise as it was lovely atmosphere and decorations, the service was lovely of a girl which unfortunately dont know the name and the bartender Will was bringing the Christmas spirit always with a smile. Will definitely be back :)

Great atmosphere in the evening on Saturday when I visited with friendly staff, and a relaxed chilled evening with good music and many people dancing, and generally having a good time.

Place is nice enough. Refused to put football commentary in the main bar. Despite everyone being in there wanting to watch the game.

I don't get in here as often as I'd like, but a cracking pub.

I came to the pub for my birthday with a bunch of lunatics (my friends) and the staff were absolutely lovely and really made my birthday special! Highly recommend this pub :)

Nice pub with a nice outdoor seating area. Wasn't too far from where I was staying when I went so was nice. Toilet was fairly cramped but apart from that it was great

There are lots of great things about The Kenton. Nice interior, unchallenging pub quiz, pleasant staff, good beer range (but no real ale, see below). But SEVEN FIFTY for a pint is absolutely taking the piss. Plus the attached pump clips to the ale pumps, but the beers in question were craft, not ale, which is deeply annoying.

Music was a bit too loud considering the size of the place and the fact that there is no dance floor. However, nice, cozy place. Great night, yardsdale pizza definitely worth the visit!

Fantastic night! Had my bday drinks here last week and was well looked after. Great selection of beers on draught and pizza delivered to the door. Awesome atmosphere and decor. Staff were all lovely and a big shoutout to the manager for looking after us!

Very nice and cozy pub with very cool selection of beers (a bit to pricey compared with other local pubs) Staff it’s mainly friendly with their regulars. I approached the counter to order a pint and I ended up waiting minutes for the server to finish her romantic chat with one of the customers/regulars

Been here a few times now. Friendly staff, layed back atmosphere. It definitely sells craft beers. Great interior. Good music. Excellent.

Not a bad place but looks much nicer from the outside. Zero craft beers and pricey dull beers. The staff always make you feel like you’re in the way pushing past and standing in front of you. Fortunately not the only pub in the area so quickly moved on. —- No I definitely reviewed the right pub but thanks for your snotty response.

I had the fortunate of celebrating my 30th birthday at the Kenton and it was nothing short of excellent. The staff were all brilliant - incredibly friendly and warm to us, and my friends and I had an excellent evening in the Snug part of the garden. I would recommend highly to anyone looking for a great pub in east London! Thank you Kenton for having us and for an unforgettable 30th!

Good pizzas, nice beer and cool atmosphere

A really fantastic roast. The veg sides have changed in subtle ways over the years but they're always interesting and varied. The roasts themselves are also lovely, but it's their veg, roasties and Yorkshires that make it my one of my favourite roasts in London. Super dog friendly as well!

Wonderful pub in Homerton. Booked Thor's Room for a birthday and the space was perfect with a lovely beer garden to the back. Staff are friendly and helpful, what's not to like.

Fun, cosy pub with good atmosphere and food! Casual pub off of Well Street, lots of space and seating, great drinks offering - with Beavertown and Guinness on tap as well as 2 Smirnoff cocktails on tap (espresso martini and passionfruit martini). Great easy option for roasts- beef, chicken, lamb and nut roast (veggie and vegan). There is also the option to order Yardsale pizza into the pub which is great! Really good for groups as you order and pay for food at the bar so there isn’t any bill splitting at the end. Will be back!

Friendly pub, just not really my kind of place. The barman advised me it was Norse themed! In the middle of Hackney? You may like it, but i preferred it as it used to be - Dominos , Rum and a underlying waft of Ganja.
