We visited We r cakes vintage tea rooms for afternoon tea on 2nd November 2024. We went to celebrate my 50th birthday! It was just perfect! The ambience of the vintage tearoom takes you back in time. Bev and the team went above and beyond to cater to my fussiness. The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious especially the mint butter and cucumber, and cheese and chutney sandwiches! ALL of the cakes just left me wanting more! Can't recommend this tearoom enough, and will be visiting again very soon. Thank you so much xx

Fabulous little place to stop for a coffee on our dog walk or lunch. Staff are just lovely and always friendly. We stop here a lot and take many friends here on our walks and they all rate this little gem.

Really disappointed to visit the cafe for cakes to takeaway only to be told they were sold out! Don’t know who manages stock control but I won’t be rushing back.

Service very poor waited 40 minutes to have our table cleared down after eating. Then I said we would like to order sweets, I’ll be back in a moment, 10 minutes later we actually ordered our sweets.

Big Thankyou to the team at the north star we booked a table for 6 Friday soul-man., What an incredible job you guys do .you work extremely hard and are run off your feet . Good food ,exceptional service , great entertainment we had a long wait for our food , but it was understandable with the amount of people you were serving . Food was lovely and came out hot . NYE 2024!! What a night!! Absolutely fantastic. £20 per person includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, DJ and a buffet. Staff were so lovely as always when we go. A huge thank you from all 18 of us!!

Absolutely awful. Ordered the sharing platter, then told not doing it today. So ordered duck bonbons and chicken wings, then told no duck bonbons. Chef said would increase number of harissa fries and chicken wings. Did we want chips and not be charged, we said no chips. Chips came but no increase in fries or wings. Felt sorry for staff, barmaid had to go and help chef. Customers were being told 25 minutes wait, we waited 45 mins before this!! Also some woman who obviously knew the staff well kept going up to the bar chatting to them when they were obviously busy. She looked like she was a member of staff but was there with her kids who played pool.

The chippy I go to was closed on Saturday for some reason so for convenience I went here for a portion of chips. When I got home and unwrapped the chips I was really shocked at the really stingy portion on my plate, was barely a handful and alot of it was scrappy bits. At £3.50 I think this is a complete rip off plus the chips were not fresh and dry. Considering the time I went in just after 5pm they should have been just cooked but were stale. I did actually get some chips from this place a few years ago and the chips were exactly the same. Lesson learned twice, I will definitely not be returning to this chippy. Very disappointing. £3.50 is steep for a portion of chips as it is these days. I wouldn't mind if they were decent and there was enough of them

A very obnoxious otherwise lady in the front taking orders. Really didn't want to hear about the last meal I bought there not being nice. More or less raised her voice pointing at the cooks when I asked if food was fresh. We only went back there for friends, because he better, friendlier Chinese takeaway in Knebworth was closed. Be grateful for your customers Mr Low, they pay your wages ....

My tea was not hot enough, which is pretty inexcusable for a Tea Shop. It should be piping hot, for the flavour to be extracted from the leaves. So I drank the two cups, in about 2 minutes flat, as I didn't want it to get even colder and thus cutting short my visit. Secondly (an most unusually), I did not receive a small jug of hot water, to 'top up' the pot. Even a cheapo cafe near the bus station (in every town, so to speak !!) ALWAYS provides this, let alone a "specialist" tea shop. The mother and daughter combo, seems like the Mother is really "in tune" with whole thing, whereas the denim wearing, tatoo showing rough-diamond daughter, just doesn't seem to fit in, to the business model, at all. The cakes are excellent.
