The North Star in Welwyn Hatfield

Well not happy as the table was already laid and I have to say when I sat down and looked my fork was full of the previous meal ,made me feel sick ,and thinking should I really be eating in here ,just not acceptable ,as it's not a good way to show the house standard's ,what with COVID still around as well ,waitress not really bothered, it's hard ,as if I was on my own I would have not eaten their yesterday ,this is how these things spread so look at your cutlery folks.

This lovely pub made booking their event room really easy, they were very helpful. We had a funeral there , ordered food, for 2pm It was all prepared, their sausage rolls and caramel profiteroles was excellent , we would defiantly go for lunch there and would recommend the outdoor seating area.

I liked that there was plenty of parking and it was not too packed on the Saturday night. The haloumi fries were very good to start and the full mixed grill was really very good – and I am something of a mixed grill connoisseur. We had a really nice evening.

Had a really lovely meal there yesterday (Easter Sunday) didn’t have a booking turned up - all 10 of us! The team couldn’t have done enough for us. The “pressed lamb” was amazing, I don’t normally order lamb when I dine out as I’m quite fussy about how it’s cooked but as it was Easter Sunday I wanted to stick with tradition and was not disappointed! All of our party enjoyed the meals & deserts, we were even given takeaway boxes for our left overs!! Will definitely be going back soon!

The family visited for mother's day. Was greeted at the door and seated immediately. We were attended by a lovely lady called Katrina, service was swift, food was delicious, well cooked, well presented. A credit to the management team for making such a pleasant visit and well organized staff on such a busy day. In fact we were so impressed have since been there for lunch as well, would highly recommend and we'll definitely be visiting again

Had a loverly meal on Mother’s Day to celebrate my mums birthday. The food was amazing and the whole family loved it. The staff were nice and friendly and had made little sweet bags which were adorable! A realy nice meal 😁

We went to the North Star for a Mothers Day meal. We booked for 12pm and paid a £5 deposit per person. Service was brilliant, really friendly and accommodating. Always checked our table to make sure everything was OK. The cute little treat on the table for everyone was a really lovely surprise. The food was really delicious. It was a set menu, but something for everyone. 2 x prawn cocktails and 1 x creamy mushrooms. The prawn cocktail was rather small and the mushroom portion was huge. 2 had the roast beef, 1 had the ceasar salad and 1 had the burger off the kids menu. We also had 2 sides of cauli cheese and pigs in blankets. 3 of us had desserts and were soo tasty. Portion size for the main were more than enough. Cannot fault anything at all about our experience. We were not rushed, great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I highly recommend and we will be back.

Just returned from a really lovely Mother’s Day dinner. We were a party of 8. The food was absolutely lovely. It catered for all our various taste's, especially as half the party were vegetarian. The service was very good indeed and we felt very well cared for and looked after.

Food not to good poor Mens Toilet's could do with a good clean down and freshen up

OK for getting a drink but the North Star is still unreliable and inconsistent for meals, as it has been for the last 10 years. The last time we ate the the starter turned up with our main course. Toilets weren't great, wet floors and smelly. Raised overall from 1 star to 2, as food was acceptable.

Had a wake here. Was nice and clean and staff were nice only complaint was wake was for 40 people 37 turned up and 9 people didn't have anywhere to sit in back room so had to sit apart from the rest. Also tea and coffee overpriced as small tiny cups and coffee was instant not worthy of price. There was plenty of food though. Good spread choices.

Booked a meal here for Friday evening There were 14 of us and all the food delivered was lovely . Nothing was cold we were all served and eating together which was nice as sometimes with a large group people are often waiting whilst others are eating. Went to the North star for my birthday with family, had a lovely meal and enjoyed their pornstar martini (3 of them)😃🍸, the staff were very polite and friendly and at the end of our meal they came out with a cake and sang happy birthday to me it was absolutely lovely, it really is a welcoming pub xxx

1 hour and 30 minutes and our food never arrived. Was told after we sat that they had absolutely no roasts at 4pm on a Sunday! Used to absolutely love this place what a shame to see it fall apart.

Had a reservation today arrived on time and had to wait 10 mins to be seated. Once seated we had to ask for them to clean the tables and provide cutlery. Customer service was over all really good and the food was tasty. It’s got a typical pub vibe. They do have a good selection of drinks and allow dogs also.

We always have an enjoyable meal here.

Nice pub with friendly service.

Unfortunately there was not enough staff to cover the amount of customers, therefore queueing 10 to 15 minutes to get a drink, food also 35 minutes late, the staff that were there did very well. Gents toilet was flooded all night, nobody attempted to clean it, but,we made the best of it entertained by the Soul Man who was brilliant as always.

Can't comment too much on food as I was only drinking but comments from other guests were extremely favourable. What I can say is, Lisa, Cat and the team are amazing, and can't do enough to make your visit an enjoyable one. Great outdoor seating area and spacious clean interior with a fantastic range of drinks. Well worth giving them a try, I am sure you won't be disappointed Edit..... Tried the food now and it doesn't disappoint

Open on a Monday for food which apparently is a rarity nowadays. Okay pub grub. I think there was about 8-10 folks in there, thus lacked a bit of atmosphere. I was with great company and the evening was great.

If I could give this no stars I would! Utterly appalled by the customer service in this pub. I used to work in food retail and as far as I was aware the customer is always right! Well apparently in this pub they are not. My friend ordered good old bangers and mash. What she did not expect with it was a good old hair. We was told that they could get her a new one or a refund I said a refund because quite frankly the fact that they thought we would eat here. Got a refund after the rude waitress had accused us of it being our hair. Safe to say I will never eat here again 🙄

Had my mums 60th birthday party in the function room they have here. Was a really lovely day and Lisa and her team couldn’t be happier to help us with anything we needed. They allowed us in early so we could set up and helped too. Food and drink was great. Really recommend. Thank you guys x

My Son took my elderly Mother and I to The North Star for a pre Mother's Day lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful and turned down the music for us as my Mother has limited hearing. 2 of us had scampi which was very nice (chips portion on the small side which was a shame as they were good) The other had a burger which was sadly dry. Our young waiter was first class and made our visit an enjoyable one.

Visited today for the first time with my family for my sons 5th birthday lunch and will definitely be back! Food was lovely, plenty of choice on the menu and everything came out hot and tasted great. Roast dinners were thoroughly enjoyed all round. We had a mixture of the Gammon, Beef & Lamb Shanks. Staff were really attentive and friendly, we had great service from the Manager Lisa. We all left happy & full and we will certainly return in future. Highly recommend, Thanks again!

Popped in here as most places had stopped serving food for the day. Was fortunate enough to meet the delightful and very efficient Olga. Well this girl could not have been more helpful if she tried. What an absolute pleasurer. The venue is lovely and spotless. The food was fantastic for the price, and the prices are very reasonable. I don't live round here, but will make an effort to come here when I am in the area. Thank you very much Olga. your hard work and dedication are appreciated. Give this girl a pay rise! See you soon!

We had visited The North Star yesterday for a work Christmas Lunch. There was 29 of us, which was a lot of people to accommodate in one seating. Lisa, Maria and the Team were amazing, they catered for all our needs, rearrangements due to the snow and delivered all our meals hot. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. We look forward to seeing you all again. Komal x x

Visited for a works Xmas lunch and it was lovely. Food was all hot, it all came out very close together and the accommodated our every need.

Nice Christmas meal here...the only reason it doesn't quite get 5 stars was that it was a bit cold ! Not really a cosy vibe. Got loads of log fires, but none of them going.

Arranged a surprise meal for my nans 80th and booked the North Star as she loves it! The process to book and pre order was made so easy! On the day the staff couldn’t do more for us, they gave us plenty of space as there was a lot of us and were always on hand asking if we were ok or wanted another drink! The food as always was delicious. I had a pie which was bursting with yummy meat. Cannot rate it highly enough, we will definitely be back, as must if your in the area!

Lovely Christmas dinner today at the North Star. A bit of an early celebration, but the staff were great and really helped to make the meal feel festive. The table was laid with a runner, centre candle decoration and crackers. Food was excellent with a nice break between dinner and pudding. Very reasonably priced and definately worth every penny.

The staff and manager here are great, the atmosphere and Cleanliness top notch. A beautiful restauraunt/public house with both external and internal seating. Sadly food was cold, incorrect dishes sent out, missing items and even when sent back came out wrong again. I don't feel I would return, it made what should have been a fantastic celebration quite stressful and let down. Manager dealt with this professionallyand explained a new chef had been hired, but sadly they obviously aren't up for the job and it ruined our night. Poor restaurant experience, something I never thought I would say about this venue.
