Food was terrible did not have a decent menu since changed from beefeater 3 couples got up and left without ordering after reading the menu, no chicken left so burger, pasta or pizza on the meal deal as we had already paid for it and had travelled 500 miles so just wanted something to eat

The food tasted like it was straight from a microwave meal. Couldn't fault the staff, they were so apologetic

A lot of money and food was sub par stopped here to break up a long journey wish we had just got a maccys so , did have a park and bouncy castle that kids enjoyed for little bit ruined though by poor quality food

No longer a beefeater we can visit as you need to be staying over as a guest at the Premier Inn Hotel. I'm absolutely shocked at what they've done as it was a great way for single parents to get a budget meal buffet that would fill your kids up for the day.

Called them 24/7/2024 and they currently only serve their hotel guests. Google didn't allow change of hours.

Since changing from beefeater to premier Inn restaurant it's gone really poor limited choice lousy service and rip off pricing

Booked in at the Premier Inn joined on to this restaurant for £130 for a room for tonight. Restaurant and bar only open 6pm to 9pm for guests only, reduced menu, hardly any beers on tap, extremely slow service at the bar. Premier Inn is owned by the same company as this place (Whitbreqd), but won’t be rebranded until October according to the staff, so this will be the same until then. This is ridiculous, no mention of this on the Premier Inn website when booking. Our company has staying here for years for business purposes. But definitely won’t be staying again.

I'm shocked to see the negative reviews. Yes it's very out dated and could do with a refurbishment (although from my understanding, it is closing/has closed this month?) Me and my partner have visited here numerous times while staying at the premier inn, and can never fault it. Most recent visit being last month. Yes was very different atmosphere this recent time considering it was fathers day, was a lovely sunny day and the outside seating area was spot on. Service was brilliant, servers are always friendly and attentive, there was only 2/3 of them but they couldnt have done more. Food was lovely as always, piping hot, meat cooked to perfection. The only negative I have was we'd paid for the meal deal, and we had already came to the restaurant for a drink before check in, spoke to numerous people and no one told us they were closing the restaurant early, and our booking was for an hour after they were due to close, would've been nice to be given the heads up, especially as we'd gone for my birthday and we had spoken to the manager when ordering drinks, asking how easy it was gonna be to change our reservation time if we needed, as I say, being fathers day.

Something not right at the Beefeater - a neglected air. No TV during the Euros (the one on the wall in the bar "doesn't work"). Two cubicles out of order in the ladies, paper strewn on the floor there. The bar stools and chairs are well past their sell by. Their suppliers are giving them a hard time, but a skewed Menu should be seen and corrected. Way below the standard that should be expected.

Was accosted by a lady at breakfast who accused us, loudly in front of other guests, of leaving without paying after last night's meal deal. I had incorrectly assumed our extras from the night before (kid's meal & a side) would be charged to our room, or the fact that I hadn't had a starter, & none of us had puddings, was sufficient to cancel out the extras. I had also incorrectly assumed the KIDS EAT FREE!, which pops up everywhere when booking, applied to evening meals. Certainly it wasn't made clear to us at the time of ordering what was & was not included in the meal deal. We would have been entirely happy to have paid the extra at the time if we had known, & immediately paid that morning. When I went up to speak to the lady to ask why she had strangely chosen to loudly 'out' us in front of other guests, as though we were criminals, she said that the "Money would come out of her pocket if we didn't pay", as Beefeater is a completely separate company. Obviously knowledge of the corporate structure of Beefeater & Premier Inn is required before dining here. Perhaps next time wait until we're seated & comfortable before quietly letting us know that we owed a few extra quid & explaining to us why, as you later did when you realised how rude you had been? Oh wait, there won't be a next time. Evening menu offerings vary from medicore to inedible, &, while the breakfast is decent, not worth the embarrassment of being accused in front of other guests of being a 'runner' to avoid paying an extra £20 (an image made even more ludicrous by the fact I use a mobility scooter, so couldn't have done a runner even if I had wanted to!). Luckily did not bother with the meal deal for our next stay, so won't ever have to come here again.

We visited the Premier inn for-two nights for a wedding and enjoyed a late night meal for table of 9 on the first evening not booked and the beefeater staff went out of their way even though short staffed to accommodate us Di and Jon where amazing so helpful friendly and professional We also enjoyed breakfast on the two mornings the second morning we booked for 20 people including guests from the wedding again Di went out of her way to ensure we were all seated in the same area and the food was freshly cooked tasty with plenty of choice Can’t thank the guys enough they helped make our special weekend perfect Good luck for the future guys And thankyou Dawn and Gary

Average, nothing special but seating outside was nice on a hot day. Service staff is not very interested in serving, food was ready quite quickly. No Moretti on tap, food very average, burger quite bland, garlic bread dry. Plenty of parking outside. I Guess you get what you pay for.

We enjoyed our steak dinner last night. The steak was cooked to our liking. However there were only a few triple cooked chips and most of them were small. They used to give you more & the peas shoot garnish was not fresh. For the price of the main course, they should be a bit more generous with the chips. Other than that, we enjoyed the cocktails and dessert. The staff were efficient & great.

I don't think I've ever witnessed such carnage in a Beefeater. Upon on arrival my friend and I were advised we couldn't sit in the restaurant, and we would have to sit in the bar. This was perfectly understandable, we hadn't booked. The restaurant looked quite busy. After waiting 12 minutes stood at the bar, a fraught looking barmaid took my drink and food order. She apologised for the wait. 27 minutes after ordering, the starters of Breaded mushrooms and Calamari was delivered to the table. Hot and fresh, definitely can't be faulted. After a further 35 minutes, I approached the bar for more drinks. I had overheard another customer trying to order topped chips, and the barmaid clarifying the kitchen was "just about still open" naturally, I was worried if we were getting our burgers. After checking with the clearly stressed barmaid, she assured me our burgers were still coming. About 5-10 minutes on from getting our second drinks, the flustered barmaid rushed two beef burgers at us, and removed the starter dishes. To my dismay, the server had brought us two beef burgers, despite us ordering chicken burgers. Given our dinner had taken so long, we simply ate them. To which I cannot complain about! The food is good. The management of the staffing is pretty poor. I didn't see more than 2 members of staff all evening.

The chef had not turned up and the rest of the team was not able to turn on the ovens so no cooked food was available for breakfast. Continental breakfast options were as expected and had to suffice. Massive let down. No soap in gents toilet.

Waited 2 hrs for our main meal and when we did get it it was wrong, it was under staffed and rushed of there feet.

Food was diabolical chips cold. Bacon burger onions soggy and greasy bacon relish was foul and within 10 my plate was swimming in grease. This place used to be so good but our last 4 visit it’s got worse every time. Maybe because they are closing down the staff have lost heart

Due to close in July 2024 as part of Whitbread’s estate cull this is one of the most run down restaurants I’ve ever been to. In fact, so bad it should have been closed years ago. Worn out, dilapidated with ripped and frayed upholstery it’s a grubby place. The food is like a time warp. Think 1970s motorway services. The staff? Very professional in the face of imminent redundancy. If the restaurant and its food offer matched the quality of the staff - who were simply lovely - Beefeater would be mad to close this place. I wish the staff all the best.

Lovely meal this afternoon - shame this branch is closing along with several others in the same area at the start of July.

Didn't eat as the person was more concerned with being on her laptop than offering us a table. Walked out after standing there for a long period time person looked like she had sucked a lemon and shouted after me across the restaurant that I was rude for walking out very unprofessional attitude won't recommend or be back

Good size room the view from the window is of the Gosling Stadium in Welwyn Garden City. The bed was very comfortable. This is Room 37 with views overlooking the Sports stadium. It is a Premier Inn ser ved by a Beefeater restaurant, currently. Evening menu is sort of standard for a chain. Help yourself morning breakfast was good, offering continental breakfast, cereals and a full English breakfast and you can choose to eat all of them. Staff are friendly and there is plenty of parking. The hotel is close to the A1 but it's far enough away to be peaceful. Currently the best hotel in Welwyn Garden City in my opinion.

Used a 40% of voucher and it was still overpriced for what you got! Will not be going back.

We have just enjoyed a lovely spur of the moment family dinner at The Stanborough. We received such a warm and friendly welcome from the amazing Mel from the minute we arrived. Her service is impeccable and she always goes the extra mile making every visit special, nothing is too much trouble. She shows such patience and understanding to my little boy who always likes to order his own meal, her kindness is genuinely second to none and her attention to detail is incredible, she is such a huge credit to Beefeater. The food was delicious and service was quick, including when we ordered extra dishes and drinks. Another fantastic meal experience due to Mel's excellence. We highly recommend

Great team at this place...super friendly and good value food

Food was lovely, cooked exactly how we wanted. We booked a table for 7pm and it wasn't too busy which was nice. My inly complaint is that the carpet was very dirty and could do with a deep clean. Other than that it was a very nice evening out with my family. Will definitely visit again.

Stayed here for a 2 day weekend to see some friends, food was absolutely amazing. Staff could not do enough to help you. From the bar staff to the breakfast lunch and dinner table service crew. Local knowledge and assistance was second to none. Rebecca (Becky) stands out. Rooms were clean tiday and well maintained.

Thank you to Diane and the team for the outstanding service this morning. We decided to meet a group of friends for breakfast. Food was fresh, there was a huge selection of full English and continental breakfast items. Will definitely visit again.

Very,very disappointed. We had a 30-year birthday to celebrate and unfortunately was a nightmare thanks to the service we received! They had big important table to serve and the other clients were in the corner. They brought all the food at the same time, the meat was dry, cold and burnt! On the top of everything we spend 100 pounds with no dessert! Avoid!

This was a thoroughly great experience. Atmosphere, food and service excellent. Servers Jon and Mel friendly and eager to make our experience special.

Food was delicious, but service was painfully slow! The server was very friendly. I had to catch the server's eye to get anything, it seemed like she forgot. Menu for puddings took a while to be given, then ages for pudding and we'd finished puddings before my hot chocolate.

The wife and I had s lovely well cooked meal, although the restaurant we busy the service was fast but not to rushed. Our waiters John and Diane were polite and joyous but not to over bearing. All in all we had a fabulous experience and would go back again.

Had a fantastic lunch and dessert. The staff are always so lovely. Would fully recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere is always very friendly. It is a pleasure to to have a meal here.it is also good for big groups that are celebrating a birthday etc.

We love going to the Stanborough for something to eat, we always get a wonderful welcome, having been here many many times over the years. Jon, Mel & Diane are all fabulous and ensure we have the best time. There's always plenty of variety, but we do love a good steak. Good value for money, particularly if there is a deal on. The staff work very hard and are very attentive. Well done to Nicole and her team xx

Excellent service , the 2 waitress we had Mel and Di were so lovely and welcoming and they even brought our 8 year son a dessert with a candle and got every one to sing happy birthday which he loved so thank you so much . The food was amazing , came out piping hot so would differently be going back there again and recommend every one to go there

Sadly, not my best Sunday dinner out. Apparently, telling staff I did not want a Yorkshire pudding was ignored and then when placed in front of me, an offer to remove it from my plate was made. Stuffing was again something I didn't require, yet no supplement was offered. As we left, a rather large rat blocked our exit, which I found quite shocking and will never return to this venue after this experience.

How long before the restaurant closes?? So few staff means almost 2 hours a time for 2 courses which is now meaning the restaurant is mostly empty as people go elsewhere.

Food was lovely. Service was a little poor, forgot to bring chips with one of the meals and had to wait a long time for service for drinks.

Once a more upmarket Beefeater, now a low budget cafe type eatery. The layout was dowdy compared to past years. The tablet was sticky to touch. The meal was poor, very poor. Mushroom starter, as basic as you can get, no garnish in sight, tangy barbecue sauce on the side, too acidic to enjoy. Then the mains, mixed grill, burnt sausage, frazzled hard gammon, steak although cooked medium , the outside looked like it had been dragged around the car park, charred to death, the eggs greasy, broken hard yolks. Then the £4 chopped salad, sour / sweet dressing, wilting lettuce. The service was very slow. A total waste of £60+. The 4 staff, yes only 4 front of house staff were all very nice, jolly. The offer of free coffee or desert we refuse, just wanted to go home. No return for us, I’m afraid.

Just had an amazing meal served by the amazing Linda, she couldn’t do enough for us. Even getting my partner wet wipes to clean himself up when eating ribs. Great service

I'm updating my review after visiting again last night. Seems they have a new kitchen manager & I feel its reflected in the food. I had fillet steak, couldnt fault it, melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection. Onions rings too were crispy, golden & yummy. Hubby had surf n turf & he too said steak was top notch. We got a 'deal' but would have been happy with our food if we'd paid full price. Very helpful, friendly staff as always.

Had a fabulous time at the bingo quiz night tonight, raising money for GOSH. We arrived early and had dinner first. The staff were all wonderful, as usual, and very attentive. Our food was delicious, too. We then moved round to the bar to play games of bingo interspersed with a quiz and a guess the logo sheet to raise money for GOSH. Kathy was brilliant, checking in with us regularly that she was going at the right pace, that we could hear her and that we were enjoying ourselves (and we were!) I, myself, was unlucky in the bingo, but my Auntie won twice! She was very happy. Overall, a fantastic night. Well done Nicole and your team :)

Absolute dump. Food was terrible. Atmosphere was dull and drab. Total waste of money.

Booked tables in advance for Easter lunch and gave a preorder of food ,after waiting for for over 1/2 an hour for service the orders were incorrect ,my daughter and her partner ordered a sharing g roast and ended up with a n ultimate roast with no potatoes or parsnips which was priced atx£27.99 ,my very young grandsons were going to have sausage n mash , there choice ,but no sausages ,the roast didn't consist of the meat choices either .Breakfast was also a shambles no yoghurts no fresh fruit (orange pineapple apple grapes for putting over cereal) no sausages and staff were extremely rude. I personally didn't think the area was particularly clean either dust accumulation in places were cleaning hasn't taken place for a while. Will be contacting environmental health soon. The whole experience ruined our family Easter get together, won't be eating there again.

Food was amazing. However, it was completely ruined by the service. Me and my boyfriend came in for a meal, we were standing by the desk for 10 minutes staff were going by and looking us not sitting us down. Then we waited for another 10 minutes for our order to be taken and on top of that another 10 minutes for food to come out. We were completely ignored from start to finish. Appalling service.

Had a new supplier meeting today so we went for lunch Great service, fantastic service and the fish and chips where awesome.

There was a time when going to beefeater was a guarantee that you would be well looked after and well fed. It was never flash or grommet or even themed, it was just wholesome food and good portions that were fairly priced and 9 out of 10 times you would be served well and in a timely fashion. It is just not so anymore. It took at least 20 minutes for us to even get acknowledged by someone that we were sitting down another 20 minutes to be offered a drink another 10 to take the order. When food arrived it was well over cooked and I could see more plate than actual dinner, how much extra does it cost to give you enough peas and chips to fill the plate surely it's not got that bad with profit margins. I ordered a pie and chips and counted 6 chips for the love of god just fill the plate up it's not asking too much, it's not as though the pie has been hand made and cooked with locally sourced beef and topped with artisan pastry is it. I know it's frozen bulk bought and I'm prepared to accept that as long as I'm full afterwards and I don't have to contact my bank for an unapproved overdraft . In short don't bother with beefeater just head straight for a wetherspoons the grubs about the same quality there's lots more of it and it's half the price and comes with a free pint which means you walk away with a smile on your face instead of composing a ridiculously long review on an over priced over cooked late to arrive pie!

3rd night at this beefeater while away on business. Didn't book a table due to leaving work late. A top bloke by the name of Jon managed to get me a table immediately. Within less than a minute he took my order and my food was with me within 10 min. Had a brief chat with Jon and I mentioned that I'd have to skip breakfast in the morning due to an early start. 2 min later he brought me some fruit over for my breakfast in the morning. I'd say that's exceptional hospitality. 👏 Thanks Jon 👍

I was staying at the premier inn next door here this evening for dinner. The bar and restaurant was fairly busy and the few staff they had on duty where doing their upmost to keep on top of the many tasks they are asked to complete. Amazingly they kept smiling and soldiered on to serve everyone with respect, professionalism and the added touch of a smile and time for our party. Linda was our server and what an amazing, happy young lady she is. To say she went above and beyond our expectations is an understatement. I very rarely leave reviews but this evening we were served lovely food but the highlight was the service. Left with a big smile. Well done team Beefeater!!! Your are doing the best work :)

Terrible....thay want to sort there menu out , rude staff, maybe need more training on there staff, been to many beefeaters this has got to be the worse , maybe that's why the restaurant was empty, no atmosphere it was like a wake of a funeral .

The restaurant was faultless, The bar?. There was a quiz night on so the bar was very busy, but there was only one person serving,? Long waiting time!

Book a table at the wgc one. When we got there, 2 staff were in and out and didn't really acknowledge u. When we were acknowledge the tall man seemed rude, no hello, no sorry for your wait, just oh and seems unhappy. Won't be going there. Definitely a uninvited atmosphere. So left......

Myself and my family had a lovely meal here at the weekend. I have a new born and the staff were very accommodating. Want to say a special thank you to John, what an amazing person, was very attentive and his service was impeccable. Thank you!

Had a lovely lunch here today made even more enjoyable by the impeccable service from Mel and Jon. Always pleased when they are on shift. Very friendly , and nothing was too much trouble. Steak salmon and roasts were all good but the dessert was amazing thank you!

If I could give no stars I would waited nearly an hour and was told your tables food will not be out yet as there are 4 tables before yours , they said I’ll get your child’s food (burger and chips) when it arrived it was completely burnt. Also our table was booked for 2.30 and they had run out of roast chicken as well as cauliflower cheese. Will not be coming here again!!! Very disappointed and was going to book for Mother’s Day lunch will not be doing that now!!!

Booked a table tonight and we're informed of a 40 min wait for food, me and my partner both work in hospitality so we know it happens sometimes, no big deal. Even though there didnt seem to be a massive lack of staff, we then waited 10/15 mins for our drinks, which were a bottle of coke and a moretti (that was delivered as a carling) not exactly time consuming. My calamari was really nice, couldve been more spicy. Chips were lukewarm, and I waited another 25 minutes for another coke. Nobody checked back on us, and we werent offered a dessert menu at any point even though we sat for over 20 mins waiting. Mel was lovely, but our server was impatient and kind of rude- he was snappy and kept sassing the tables next to us. Also they advertise unlimited chips on their website but don't offer it anymore :(

Forgot to review at time but went over the 2023 christmas period and got the set christmas menu with my partner and I could not fault the meals or cocktails/mocktails. They were creative with fun quirky names and looked and tasted amazing. Fast service and lovely staff. As we were staying at hotel next door breakfast the next morning was the usually premiere inn style serve yourself but as always, equally delicious as the dinner. Only fault was the wait time to be seated and lack of staff at time we were being seated. Along with the other guests we waited a while to be seated. Must of caught them at a busy time. Would definetley come again. 😄

Long delays in getting food 1 hour a half wrong order for my granddaughter ordered pizza and chips with baked beans had to send back, then when her food came back no chips kept asking but did not turn up. Long wait for drinks long wait to be seated queue at door 10 or more people waiting most of the time.not enough staff to deal with the amount of people. As usual lots of meals on menu not available. This is an ongoing problem with this restaurant. Shame on them for not dealing with them,staff were run of there feet.

Was told an empty station at breakfast would be replenished upon arrival as I knew that's what me and the kids wanted. It was never replenished then the manager Nicole lied to say that it had been and it had gone again. Disgusting service and poor management. Is that the kind of leadership that Beefeater want!?

Good thing I ordered the steak rare, because it was the only thing on the mixed grill that wasn't burnt. Have eaten here in the past and it was OK, but no quality control coming out of the kitchen on Valentines Day.

Went for breakfast as children eat for free. Good value deal and my daughter likes it. Went betw Christmas and new year and they'd run out of some stuff.

I really enjoyed to go here, but it is changed to the opposite today. We wait like 10 minutes to be seated. The manager apologised, and se said she just clocked out… honestly I don’t really care not my business. I can not accept any reason to wait more than 10 minutes for a table especially when we were only two person in the door, and the restaurant not even looks busy for me. After that long wait once we sit down the ordering went well. Mel was our waitress she handle everything very well. Also big thanks for her, because only her nice attitude save our experience. We ordered a ribeye medium well and surf and truf steak medium. We get exactly opposite way. We mention to Mel she handle very well. First time I think maybe that was a miss understand with madium well and medium rare, but ahe ask If we want cook more the ribeye so thats proof she send right way the order. We get two new steak very fast, my surf and truf sirloin was bit over again, but acceptable, but my partners rib eye arrived almost like rare… we ordered medium well. I work also kitchen, so for the first time I can accept mistake especially after this busy period, but for the second time send out with this huge difference. I am so sorry this is mean like the chef didn’t care at all. At the end we swap steak with my partner but some part of the ribeye was too rare even for me. Our waitress Mel handle very well she took of from the bill my one, and one more time thank you for her, thats all what she could do. But honestly if I go to restaurant, I just want ro eat some nice food, and to get a good experience, to take off from the build doesn’t fix a bad experience. Thank you for Mel she done all her best, but the kitchen need a serious retrain, and also the manager who seated us, I go to enjoy my time I don’t really care your problems, I have my owns and after these meals I even get more. Care more about that than share with the guests your labour issues.

Here for a drink and snack at the pub meeting up with friends as an annual custom. Felt the cider was watered down and the potato skins unexciting.

The service staff managed to fit us in at the last minute , while very busy they accommodated us excellently ….. this is why I use the Welwyn prem inn and beefeater for breakfast when ever I’m down …. 10/10…… room 34

Semi cooked roast potatoes and cold meat ... to be fair they took the price off extras and a free pudding to say sorry ... no chicken wings nor cheese board but wasn't after them ... kitkat sundae was ok, ice cream with bits in and with cream and ice cream... one of their cocktails looked nice but was ok.. lacked any flare and taste was bland.. Luv the staff there but tonight wasn't there night 😕.. I will be back in the new year to try again ...

Waitress Mel was excellent as was the meal. A relaxing couple of hours in a good environment

Christmas dinner was amazing! Super friendly staff and catered to all 20 of us beautifully.
