What a little Gem - popped in at the weekend for a pint - good selection of real ale and unusually a rhubarb cider which at 4% could be considered a session drink. Great landlord who obviously loves his profession and is good at it. I'd recommend this place even for a swifty

Went on a Tuesday. Free sausage and mash when buying a pint or other large drink on Tuesday evenings. Extra veg can be bought to go with meal.

Unspoiled traditional pub with friendly staff & locals. The 3 Brewers ale was by far the best beer I've had so far on this trip.

Came to this Beautiful traditional Pub yesterday with my Mum & Daughter, we all live in Hatfield and this pub is beautifully set in Old Hatfield. Good selection of beers and lovely service from the lady at the bar. Warm & friendly on a cold Saturday afternoon the log fire was burning bright. We ordered food, scampi and chips twice and I had nuggets beautiful presented in a basket, right old traditional pub grub!🙂 Great locals who made us feel so welcome & Doggy Friendly 🙂

Authentic pub in Old Hatfield serving good real ale. 3 regular ales and up to 4 guest ales. Lager, cider, Guinness Always worth a visit.

Very friendly with great service. Everyone seemed to know everyone but were also talking to us new people. We didn't have food but the service was really good and we had a lovely Sunday afternoon. Lovely open fire that was kept roaring.

Popped in Tuesday for bangers and mash night. Staff were friendly, good options on beers and food was great specially as it was included in the price of your drink. Little gem this pub is. One not to be missed.

I loved this old pub. It was white and well decorated. Great for a pint with friends. Right off Hatfield station. I will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed having a nice pint in this pub ..it's well worth the visit the staff are friendly and the bangers and mash were amazing . I would definitely go again just for the friendly bar staff and the atmosphere

We had a great time tonight. We were visiting from Toronto, Canada. Our cousins Shelley & Chris brought us here. Lots of fun on a Thursday trivia night. The barmaid even had a Toronto Blue Jays jersey which was a nice surprise. Go Jays Go!

Great pub , steeped in history , great service , fine selection of guest ales . Definately worth a visit.

You just feel like a nuisance when you go in. No welcome feeling, just takes your money and no service, just a grim face scowling at you as you hand over a good sum of cash for a few drinks. The local cemetery had a better vibe than this. Incredible really.

Popped in here for a pint and some lunch. Nice cosy feel, lovely to find a pub unspoilt by modern "renovation" and still retaining it's original features. Looks like they have lots on with a free bangers and mash night, a Thai night, and a quiz night. The menu wasn't very extensive - cod or chicken goujons of some kind or other and chips, and I think squid rings, but it was fine and did the job! Will definitely be going back as soon as possible.

We came here with friends after visiting Hatfield House. It is a wonderful old, traditional pub with no pretences. The landlady and staff are very welcoming and helpful. They have a good, and apparently ever changing number of draft beers, and a good selection of quality pub food which is reasonably priced. If we lived near here, this would definitely be our "local".

Always enjoy visiting this comfy pub. Nice patrons and staff.

Really like this pub. Cosy and intimate environment. We had a free bowl of chilli when bought with a pint one Saturday evening which was a fantastic idea. I like to take friends here when they are visiting.

Another great night with the best Thai food you'll find in Hertfordshire. I went for the beef chilli and it was superb just a shame I have to wait till next Friday for round 2. All washed down with Gin cocktails.

Lovely Pub set in Old Hatfield. Visited day of the Battle of Proms..very welcoming. Beer Garden well presented and Pub Clean. Children and Doggy Friendly which is a bonus when out for a long walk with Mans best friend. Just dropped in by chance on a Friday night when they had a Thai night. Strange in the way they normally only do lunches but food was great, also did free food (yes free!!) on a couple of other nights when you had drinks over a specified amount.

Best pub in Hatfield, excellent beers and spirits. Free food some days with a drink, olde world atmosphere. Worth a look if near the station.

Whilst having a walk with my dog i stumbled into the pub it's atmosphere was very nice. groups of mostly middle aged drinkers having a relaxing few drinks while. Talking to each other. The bar staff where so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a couple of hours. There was a good selection of beers. I will definitely return. Thanks for your hospitality.

The Horse & Groom in Old Hatfield is lovely pub that has some nice ales 😃

Most of the pub is carpeted, but a corner around the fireplace has been left as it would have been before the interior was refurbished. There are attractively contoured grey flagstones. There is a lovely old high-backed settle. Just look at the arm nearest the fireplace, polished and worn down over the years by the arms of countless drinkers. Around the wood stove are collected some of the knick-knacks that would have adorned the pub walls in days gone by--huge brass platters, decorative fire tools, etc--and there is an old milk churn too. A wonky brown wooden beam runs across the top of the fireplace, and above that is displayed a skew-whiff modern clock and some framed prints of Hatfield scenes. The pub is welcoming to large country dogs, and I saw one of them given a sausage as a treat. The locals obviously know each other extremely well, and the atmosphere is cheerful and friendly. Publicans of other pubs also visit, which is a good sign. Best pub in Hertfordshire? I seriously doubt that, but I am still researching.

Popped in with my son after he moved into his flat had a couple of drinks. Sue the owner is very lovely she cooks fresh food as well. Tuesday and Friday from six if you buy a drink you have a dinner free, this can be sausage, mash onions and gravy or a chilli con carne, well worth going to

A traditional pub with good real ales and good food. Husband had sausage and onion baguette and I had a Ham ploughmans both were very nice. Landlady friendly as were her customers. It's the sort of place you feel so comfortable in and would happily move house so it could be your local.
