I arranged a surprise meal with family for my Mums birthday and it was brilliant! Really friendly staff, great food (the portion sizes were huge!) nice atmosphere and great value for money. Will definitely be returning, thank you!

This was the worst pub lunch I’ve had in a long time. Had scampi, chips and peas and the chips were hard even though they looked cooked, the peas were poor quality and the scampi was unlike anything I had before although they were ok. The sticky toffee pudding was the best aspect of the meal. Service was pleasant if a bit hit and miss.

All good apart from dinner .roast veg where all under cooked , roast potatoes under cooked and still white ..had a tummy ache later that day because I was trying to digest hard vegetables

Despite numerous changes i had to make to our booking, they were great. Food outstanding as always. Staff friendly and helpful. 10/10

We hired out the function room for baby shower on the same day of baby shower they canceled due to it not being cleared of stuff but gave us part of the bar but staff were helpful

Lovely lunch today, much improved with the new chef in place. Batter on the fish was lovely and crispy. Friendly and quick service and always welcoming to children. Thanks Jackie and Sarah. Love the redecoration too.

Had chicken pie it was more like chicken and gravy pastry not very good the mash was not very nice very waxey

Did not have any Food but the Pub was clean, Airy, and Bright and a really good atmosphere. Very good selection of Beers,Lagers,and other Spirits. Good Service at the bar... Worth a visit back at a later date.

Disappointing lunch yesterday King prawn tai curry arrived with plain boiled rice naan bread and seasoned king prawns no sauce whatsoever bone dry mentioned your waitress who agreed and said she would let chef know…… other than that no acknowledgment charged full price

Visted recently, Pub has really gone down hill since our last visit. Food was tatless and service very poor.

Sadly it's really gone downhill. We had to wait over 45mins for our Sunday Roast and when it came it was just not up to standard. Some of the green vegetables were raw, the Yorkshire pudding was flat and stodgy, and there was so little gravy it was difficult to eat. The pudding was not much better. Peach melba and raspberry Sundae turned out to be vanilla icecream, a slice of peach covered with a bitter blackcurrant sauce. The homemade apple pie was a complete rip off. Not homemade, flat with very little filling and less than a quarter of the size of the other puddings served at the sane price. Very disappointing, not a patch on our last visit.

Went a few days ago the service was horrid and the food was disgusting, was waiting ages for food wouldn't reccomend

Lovely pub with live music and great food

We took my Mum there for dinner to celebrate her 83rd birthday. It happened to be Chilli Tuesday, £3 for either a meat or veggie chilli (with an minimum £3 drink spene). Plenty of other dishes on the menu if chilli is not for you. No complaints about the service or facilities.

Our second visit here this summer and still great pub grub and service. Despite being rushed off their feet the serving staff still managed to make us feel comfortable and have an enjoyable evening. This is our favourite pub in Hertfordshire - definitely a hidden gem!

We attended today and were a big table of 20 people. The Barn was lovely to sit in and eat. The main waitress, Maddie, was so lovely and attentive to all of our drink orders. She was always willing to help if we needed anything and she was polite and pleasant. The other waiters who helped were also polite, didn’t get their names unfortunately but pass on our gratitude to them. We had a lovely afternoon celebrating our grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Thank you all so much and you made it a moment to remember.

We took our 2 grandsons to their childrens' a nativity session. It was brilliant and they had a fabulous time.

Lovely Pub, lovely food and staff are very friendly.

The Red Lion offers a pleasant environment, friendly staff and a reasonable menu of well prepared and well presented food at a reasonable price. Nothing exceptional but no complaints either. Free parking in a (you guessed it?) reasonable sized car park. The different specials available each day of the week are a treat.

Absolutely amazing no complaints

Got to the pub for 12 when open, first people through the door so thought we wouldn't be waiting long for our food. Seated straight away, order taken at 12:30, we didn't get our food until 1:40pm by which time we had gone past hunger. People that were arriving after us and ordering after us were getting their meals before us. Kids burger was too hard to even bite into, onion rings were over cooked,cheesy garlic bread was literally just cheesy garlic toast. Overall very disappointed and won't be returning

I really like this pub It has a nice atmosphere and it feels safe, the parking is good and the staff are helpful The food has always been great, I am not a vegan but they have a great selection for vegans and vegetarians ⭐

A group of us stopped in for a quick drink. Even though it was 11pm we were given a warm welcome and not rushed out. Great gin selection. Very cosy atmosphere.

Food prices you would expect at spoons. But unlike spoons the quality is pucker.

Nice atmosphere, good service and well cooked food. Was very busy, on a Saturday night, but still good table service. I was seated in the conservatory and that does get cold though.

Had a roast here on Sunday, pub was busy so rmbr to book. Food was lovely and staff very friendly.

Went to their Thursday pie night, great food, beer and service, found the bingo later on was a bit annoying when trying to chat with friends.

Great pub, value meals and live music

Xmas lunch for 6 yesterday, just perfect. From the welcome through 3 courses to the coffees and goodbyes could not have been better. Excellent Xmas dinner as close a great Christmas dinner at home as you can get. 4 of the party had the traditional Turkey lunch and 2 opted for the Swordfish. Thankyou RedLion. Highly Recommend

Out to lunch with auntie from Welwyn she suggested the Red Lion, Woolmer Green. Such a great surprise. A welcome smile from mine host & from the other diners, we made ourselves comfortable & checked out the menu. Another surprise in that most meals were offered in small or large, which is like music to my ears, well eyes. Three of the four of us chose small, but these were completely sufficient. Wish I lived closer as I'd be there every week or more often. Must visit auntie more!!

Great price on cake n coffee. Cake not brilliant coffee ditto but 99p each Wow! Good service, cosy surroundings, sufficient parking. Good place to meet up with friends for a chat. Relaxed atmosphere.

Waited more than 30 minutes for server to take order and you could tell that the dessert was microwaved as the dish was hot but the chocolate/orange cake was hot in the centre only . Had to wait for cutlery.

Amazing Sunday lunch! Popped in without a booking, and we were quickly found a table. The food was absolutely fantastic, and that cauliflower cheese was fantastic. I would definitely recommend a visit, and I am planning a return visit. Top work.

Brilliant evening at the Red Lion Woolmer Green. Fish&Chips (2 small portions perfectly ample for £12) and listening to a great band "The Two Tones" belting out Beetles,Tom Jones,Rod Stewart, Commodores,Frank Sinatra,Bob Marley covers to name but a few.

Great place, great food, will definitely be back asap.

£2 sausage and mash today was OK, not bad at all for the price. Venue is quite tired looking, especially the conservatory.

Not been here for years but pleasantly surprised. Staff were quick and knowledgeable , the food and drinks were as ordered and delicious. There is an ambiance which has an old pub feel but is modern by design. A lovely time enjoyed by all the family.

Food is good,staff are polite and good at there jobs

I had a full roast dinner and it was incredible. My waitress even gave good juju to West Ham for them to win as thats what was on the TV. The manager Jackie was amazing and made sure that everything was up to very high standards and that we were happy with everything. Definitely will be returning. Excellent food, incredible and friendly staff. Thank you Jackie and ALL the waitresses who were rushed off their feet, you are all amazing.
