We stayed at the Comet Hotel for two nights and ate here on our first night as it was convenient. We had pre-booked about a month earlier. In the lobby, our room, outside and within the restaurant there are daily offers advertised. On Saturday evenings, they promoted a free drink when you ordered a burger. So we were looking forward to a reasonably priced dinner. We arrived at 7.30 to find the place almost empty, but were greeted by friendly staff and taken to our table. We tried to order the burger with a free drink but our waiter didn't know about it and went to ask his supervisor. He returned to tell us that the offer had been discontinued with little apology. Our complaints about misadvertising fell on deaf ears. We weren't happy at all but decided to go ahead and eat here anyway. So my husband ordered a burger (with cheese and bacon as extras), I had a sirloin steak and we had a pint of bitter each. Whilst waiting for the food to arrive my husband went to the hotel receptionist to discuss the situation: she was helpful and said she would discuss it with her manager. The food arrived freshly prepared and piping hot. High quality ingredients and nicely presented. My medium-rate steak was cooked to perfection. Having polished off our main courses we decided that there was room for pudding too! So we both had a delicious apple & rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream. When the bill arrived it was brought by the restaurant manager. she apologised about the discontinued but still advertised promotions. Then we were very pleasantly surprised to be told that the cost of both our drinks and puddings had been deducted from the bill. Overall this is a very good restaurant with very good food, and we wouldn't hesitate to return in future. Recommended.

I had a short break on my way to London. Had a coffee here. Everything was perfect. The taste, services and the attitude of staff. Staff name was Marry Angel, she was really friendly and provided the best services.

Trust me a one star is being over generous! After a horrible experience one afternoon I decided to give this establishment another chance! I was left utterly appalled with the entire experience yet again!! On my birthday I expected a lovely meal out with my friend to a place we frequently ( 3 times a month ) visit, spending £50-£60 minimum! Over an hour waiting for steak ( on stake night ) for it to arrive freezing cold was just the icing on the cake! To be told the manager wasn’t present but can offer another drink, and couldn’t have the meal removed from the bill with utterly gob smacking! No one should be treated like this not only on their birthday, but especially as a regular customer that’s on first name basis’s with staff!! its just unacceptable!! I was hungry tired and just appalled that a place I once loved could be so callas and display such disregard to a devoted and loyal customer! After being forcibly instructed to write down my details, magically my freezing cold birthday meal had been removed from the bill! Thought it couldn’t be removed with out the manager present? So reluctantly I paid £50 for my friends meal! Dripping in destain we left! Little tip, get a chef in that knows how to cook stakes! ( honestly having a stake night is just laughable!!) Brush up on customer service! Feed your paying customers and make sure you keep on top of timings! Don’t understand why my details were taken seen as I haven’t received a word!! I vow not to return! Happy Birthday to me!

My wife and I have been dining here every month since you've opened. We have enjoyed our steak meals to date, but for some reason, you have decided to leave out the wild rocket salad, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Please can you put it back on your menu as current presentation of steak is sparse and tasteless.

We had a full afternoon tea, a belated birthday treat. It was delicious. The food was fresh and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive and helpful. This was a first visit and we were very impressed. Attractive surroundings, art deco, very clean. A delightful experience, thank you. And thank you to the member of staff who phoned to tell us we had left a mobile behind!!

The afternoon tea was truly excellent for the very reasonable price of £15. Two scones with plenty of jam and cream, 4 finger sandwiches (egg, salmon, roast beef, cucumber) and a selection of cakes (lemon drizzle, victoria sponge, carrot). We had to take 2 scones home in a box as it was more food than we could manage. The restaurant itself is in a 1930s Streamline Moderne inspired building celebrating the iconic racing airplane ‘The Comet’. The restaurant menu also looked brilliant and we will be going back again very soon to try it out. Thank you Element!!

We had a Sunday roast which was ok. Average at best. Nothing impressive or generous about it. The beef was a bit fatty with gristle running through it. The pork was dry. The menu was quite expensive for what we had too. There was a lack of atmosphere in the place mainly because it was pretty empty for Sunday lunch. The staff were inattentive and seemed disinterested. Nicely decorated though.

I think it is a very nice place in Hatfield. I went there for brunch. Overall, the food was okey but not amazing. I might visit one more time to see what they offer for lunch. The customer service is really good and atmosphere as well.

Whilst the decor looked Art Deco and attractive, the attention to detail was lacking somewhat. The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks, as there was thick layers of dust on the windowcils, and many of the tables had dirt on them (not from previous customers). We were the only ones in the place (which is surprising for a Saturday evening), so the staff had plenty of time to clean up. The food was ok, but not restaurant quality, and was vastly overpriced for what it was. The sauces came in little packets that you'd find at a fast food place rather than a restaurant. We had similar meals at a cafe the following day, and they were both £5 cheaper and comparable in quality. There wasn't much choice in the way of alcohol free drinks either. £8.50 for a mocktail which tasted like it had come out of a carton is absolutely ludicrous. I've been in bars in London that charge less for a mocktail. Overall very disappointed for a restaurant. Gave 2 stars as the waiter who served us was ok. Would definitely not recommend.

Whilst the restaurant was really nice with great food and service, I received a £60.00 parking fine in a disabled parking space. I didn't notice that you had to register your car at the bar as I was helping my disabled mother, nor was I informed. What a shame, I won't be going back again. Really poor service

It’s a lovely restaurant. The food was always delicious. We had breakfast everyday during our stay at the Comet London Hatfield Hotel. We also had dinner on two evenings. Customer service was great. Staffs were friendly. We enjoyed our meal there every time. We will go back next year.

Fantastic evening today - thank you to all staff. Attended to meet the members of the Ellenbrook Area Residents’ Association. Lovely place, great atmosphere, hadn’t thought to go before. I will now be going when I can. Parking also easy if you need it.

The restaurant is beautiful; we were surprised to find it empty for a Sunday lunch. Service was excellent - attentive, knowledgeable and discreet. Two friends had burgers which looked excellent. I had the Cajun salmon and was impressed. The fish was cooked exactly right and accompanied by really well prepared spinach and potato. Accompanied by a good-sized glass of a really excellent Malbec. Dessert was apple and blackberry crumble with custard; here the chef either tried an experiment or did not prepare properly- the deliciously warmed fruit was simply topped by what seemed to be a fruit and nut cereal. Mixed result! All in all, a recommend from me, although a little lacking in buzzy ambience.

Whilst the staff did apologise and took one main of the bill. Having a stone in your starter was just not ok! We wanted afternoon tea but the message didn't reach the kitchen and it wasn't available even though it was on the menu. Drinks were ok at best, starter bland! Had to take the birthday girl elsewhere to get decent food and a drink in the end. Won't be back, such a shame as lovely decor.

We stayed at The Comet Hotel and visited The Element Bar twice - both times, staff VERY helpful & engaging!! Food was delicious - hence we went twice!! Put it ALL together and it made for a FAB-U-LOUS stay!!! CHEERS Team Element!!

I asked for a mock tail but unfortunately they don’t do them but they do cocktails out a can.. so asked for a pint of coke they only sell bottles.. I ordered food and then apparently the head chef had left for the night and the junior chef couldn’t cook a STEAK!! So then cancelled the food order completely as put me off. Asked for the bill and only had cash on me and then got told if we could pay by card because they were unable to take cash for some apparent reason. This place has really gone down hill completely shocked tonight...

Absolutely lovely meal. Was a little bit apprehensive as hotel restaurants can sometimes be hit-and-miss, but not this one. Really fresh ingredients and tasted fab!

Lovely decorated restaurant, very friendly staff (especially Dan and Ines, they were very friendly and attentive). Only comment would be its quite pricey, would attract more customers if they were to lower prices slightly and maybe offer cocktails. Dessert and coffee was very tasty

Quiet atmosphere. Simple menu. Surprised to find they don't do any cocktails etc, just wine and beer. Seemed to be served by several different people in our short visit. Despite booking through their AL10 club, putting the membership number in the booking notes, and showing our QR code we didn't receive the stated 10% off, but a 10% service fee was added. And despite noting on the booking that it was for a special occasion we were not offered the stated free bottle of prosecco. Didn't feel comfortable asking the staff for anything else as we had already had to follow up for salt and condiments, as well as sending back my husbands steak which was undercooked. We won't be returning as even with a £10 voucher the bill was almost £70 for a chicken burger, small steak, cheap frozen chips, basic starters and two drinks each

The service was amazing, thanks to the staff - who could not do enough for you. Popped in for an afternoon drink on the terrace, where we received fab service. Quick and fab drinks, that were reasonably priced and well deserved after a day shopping. We then had booked dinner for 7:30pm where all three of tonight’s staff members were attentive and kind. These staff members all need a raise, they are fantastic. Service was the best I’ve had in any restaurant for a very long time, after a series of bad meals elsewhere. The food was delicious, especially the halloumi starter and the lemon cheesecake desert. Such a fab three course meal, that left me comfortably stuffed. The lady in charge this evening and Lukas were so accommodating, remembering us from the afternoon drinks and sourcing an ice bucket and flutes for us to bring to the room, as we were celebrating our anniversary. Already looking forward to returning and have told all of my friends and family how fab this hotel/restaurant is.

I had a meal last evening at this restaurant and it was excellent. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and the service was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will return very soon. The refurb of the hotel is wonderful also. A thoroughly enjoyable evening topped off with excellent food. Highly recommend.

Was so pleasantly surprised with the elegant refurb the hotel has had. Its sleek and classy, warm and cosy. The bar area served great drinks. The waiters were on point and attentive. I couldnt believe this was the same hotel! The food was the hidden gem in all this. Beautifully presented, creative and delicious. Dont hesitate in booking. Just go. You wont be disappointed. Ten out of ten!

We visited on a Tuesday evening to try out the restaurant as part of the 'Eat out to help out' scheme. The venue clearly take social distancing and hygiene very seriously, which was encouraging. Service was perfect- friendly, helpful but also efficient and and not at all intrusive. The waiter let us know that the kitchen would be closing soon and asked if we would like to pre-order dessert, which was thoughtful of her. All of our dishes were well presented, generously portioned and above all delicious. The food is relatively simple and superbly executed. The Caesar Salad was the best I've ever had, the whitebait were plentiful with a delicious lime flavoured mayonnaise and the ice cream was delicious. I cannot fault any aspect of the food, drink or service in any way- this place was a real gem. The bonus is that the venue is imaginatively stylish with a well-executed art deco flair, which made a lovely backdrop to a perfect evening out. We will definitely be back.

First time in The Comet hotel since refit. Parking on site register inside by bar. Prompt and friendly service. Drinks menu was limited I believe due to current covid regs. Menu was not to large a choice as well. Nice clean modern décor inside , shame not more art deco features .

We popped in for a quick pint or 2 and a little snack. We were served promptly by a lovely lady I believe her name was Georgie. We were shown to a table outside. She was very good popped back a few times to check we had all we needed,and even asked if we had entered our reg in the parking, my friend hadn't, with that she said not to worry she would go and do it. Wow what an amazing member of staff, we also ate last weekend and had a nice meal and excellent service,very friendly we most certainly will be back😉

A recently reopened hotel and with bar and restaurant open to non residents. A superb renovation of an old dilapidated building. The décor and facilities inside are excellent, the staff are very friendly, they appear to enjoy working here which comes across as great service with a smile and a welcoming atmosphere. My family and friends have been here for a few meals already, Sunday Roast and all the trimmings for £14 was excellent value for an excellent meal. The menu is not extensive at the moment as they are finding there feet but it is great food and reasonable prices, Steaks a bit expensive but the rest is fair prices, not dissimilar to a pub. The drinks are good value and four of us went there last night just for a drink and chat, again great service, waiters/bar staff swinging along to the song 'Happy' whilst serving us, really laid back, inviting and welcoming bunch of guys last night. Again the choice of beers, whilst good value (£4.50 for a pint of Coors) is limited but we all found something to drink and the wine list and cocktails are reasonable. The place and staff made for a very nice evening get together. Lots of specials on at the moment and we got 10% of the bar bill, which added to the value. Somewhere I will use often, think it could become my local. Dropped a star of for now just because the food menu could improve and I know the manager, Bruno, is actively making improvements all the time.

Extremely confused about this new restaurant. I booked for two people one lunchtime. Upon arriving, by car, from London, I entered the car park. I tried the old entrance where access to the restaurant used to be but the doors were firmly closed. I tried other doors, as I made my way clockwise around the building. NO SIGNS AT ALL POINTING TO ENTRANCE, unless you were on the road to St Albans. I walked up a ramp into an empty space, then stepped into a large empty room (except for chairs and tables). The feeling / atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming and not a person in sight. I could not even see the restaurant from the main entrance and there were no 'This way' signs and no-one to welcome me and my father and to point us in the right direction / take us to a table. The place didn't even feel 'Open for Business.' The 'layout' for this new place is diabolical. Who wants to be greeted by a large empty room, no people, no directions. Needless to say, we turned around and left but only after we had found the point of exit and requested the bar be lifted up to let us leave!!!!! Obviously, can't comment on food or service. This place needs sorting out or it will never take off. Very poor first experience and extremely disappointed.
