Great local pub with 2 sides and a large outdoor space for summer gatherings

We have a regular visit, which we from local church call God in the pub. It's so friendly and we can just sit back and enjoy a pleasant hour or so chatting between ourselves and the locals and not about religion just the local chat.

We loved coming here to Hopfields :) We came on a Saturday where there was a bouncy castle , draughts and dominos on the green My two young children were very entertained and the food was lovely too We will be back especially if there's entertainment for kids! My son didn't want to leave

Don't normally call in at the hopfields as I live near bowls club but yesterday Thursday 7th had a lovely comfortable evening with my friend who comes up from Kent staff was so friendly and made us feel welcome must use the pub more often thanks everyone

The atmosphere is a little bit disappointing.

We were so disappointed with the standard of food we received today it was shocking we waited over an hour for a margarine filled sandwich, a child’s meal with 8 chips and the jacket potato had a teaspoon of chilli. The only redeeming factor was your team member Charley she is an asset to your business polite friendly and professional. However retrain your kitchen staff and the other woman behind the bar with the stripes in her hair only wanted to serve men and ignored women at the bar. Seriously sort yourselves out the food is an embarrassment and give Charley a gold star!!

They had a brilliant band called the curfew on the night we went. I think they had a new bar staff member who was learning the ropes, so hopefully, the service will be better next time.

It it's a very good pub and restaurant, the burger is fantastic, always busy, the drinks is reasonable priced, staffs are ok

Updated review. So, the pub recently had a refurbishment. If you like green, then you will love it here. Kirsty (the manager) has worked really hard to change the clientele of the pub, getting rid of most of the previous rough elements and calming the rest. All the draught is of a good standard and having been invited to look at the cellar (following a dishwasher issue) to make sure she hadn't missed anything, I can happily say, you could eat your dinner off of the floor it is that clean and tidy. The team are a good mix of young and slightly more experienced and all are very approachable and helpful. There are regular menu changes which seem to be well received and are quite popular. There is different music nights typically once a month as well as open mic nights and karaoke which are advertised outside the pub and on Facebook as well as the hugely popular Hopfest in August and live sport is available everyday The pub has come on leaps and bounds under the current management and is well worth a visit (even if macmullens still won't entertain ales from other local producers) Cost wise, expect to pay between £4&6 for alcoholic drinks but, they do have a range of 3-4 none alcoholic beers and ciders as well as they usually soft drinks Give em a go, you may be pleasantly surprised

Very nice place to eat. Had Christmas lunch here and the food was amazing. Very helpfull staff with a very clean enviroment. My only (petty) negative is there was no fruit in the pink gin and lemonade which is a shame as that would have been better. Well fone Hopfields we will visit again soon.

The food not nice 😕 Sunday roast

A pleasant pub. We didn't have food but the roast dinners that others had looked really good. The service was friendly but with 2 staff serving 2 bars the wait was slightly longer than you would like. Definitely would go again though.

Just a proper pub just right for the area did not eat here but the pint I had was fine

Went yesterday and was treated terrible. All staffs were racist and we were the only table that were told to keep buying drinking if we wanted to stay but everyone else can sit and enjoy. Staffs kept staring and giving dirty looks and talking about us. Very racist place! Don’t recommend this place at all

Great saturday evening with the Phoenix blues band.

Honestly one of the worst burgers I've ever had... the burger sauce wasn't nice, the burger meat looked like it was from the freezer section. Chips were tasteless. I was too exhausted to bother saying anything as I just thought, how could a place get a burger so wrong.. ate and left very disappointed. 2 stars are for the interior of the pub, which was pretty. Also there's only one toilet for women, which isnt great.

What a shambles! Manager goes off for dinner at 7.30 in the evening leaving one barmaid to do food, serve and do everything, whoever Kirsty is she should t be running a pub if she runs it like this

This is the second time that I have visited here for the quiz night. I felt very welcome by the staff. The quiz was fun 😊 . I felt the pub was nice and clean and the staff were great. Inside seating was spacious and comfy. The menu I noticed looked great. Super outside area and signs for being dog friendly. I'll definitely return .

Lively and very noisy with sports screens but our biggest disappointment was the tiny portions for the sunday roast. It was ridiculously small like a childrens meal. Im not a huge eater but left still hungry. Quality of food was fine, but just not enough. Please review portion sizes...!

this was a birthday meal with my friends. the staff were great but the service was slow and all the orders was wrong one meal didn't get ordered one came out with wrong sauce . pasta dish didn't really taste of much only tomato was a bit disappointing. but to be fair the time i went before that was nice.

Waited ages (35 mins) for our Sunday roast. Service was appalling. All I can say is the roast was a disaster. Veg was boiled to an inch of its life and runny gravy and the pork was sliced paper thin. The only saving grace was the parsnips that were nicely done. Also music blaring out. Never again. I much preferred when it was under the old management when they offered 2 for one deal.

First visit. Really impressed with the staff, food and drink. Very clean and tidy, just wished we lived in the area and not just visisitin. Would definitely be a regular attender.

I held a fundraiser at the Hopfields on Saturday night(13th May) The landlady(Kirsty)couldn't of been more helpful and accommodating and was a real support over the build up to the event and on the evening itself. The evening went amazing and we managed to raise an amazing amount of money. She advertised it well and it was incredibly well attended. I can't thank Kirsty and her amazing team enough, I won't hesitate in arranging another one in the future

My friend and I popped in Wednesday lunchtime for some food and a drink. Meet by a young man called Darren who I believe is the manager, very friendly and welcoming. Pub was quiet but made to feel valued and welcomed. Food was of good quality and speedy service. Will recommend to my friend's, if only for the cute barman.

Had an amazing experience at the hopfields tonight. The lasagne was the best in Hatfield. Served by Ellie and Cat and they were both professional and welcoming. A hidden gem in the community and will definitely be visiting again.

We walked past here and went in for a few drinks as we were at a loose end. Welcome was mixed... we found somewhere to sit. One male member of bar staff was friendly but the lady i felt was a bit unwelcoming towards us. Felt as though she wanted us to leave the whole time. Full of regulars and there's nothing wrong with that, but there is when "outsiders" feel unwelcome. Someone sat at the bar was having an incredibly inappropriate and disturbing conversation with anyone who'd listen about underage 5ex. I told my partner I didn't want to return and won't go back here should we ever be in hatfield again!

It was a very good afternoon at the Hopfields festival its great to see very one enjoying them self and the children having lots of fun well done to landlord and landlady and all the staff . 🙂

I expect if you just want a pint this pub is absolutely fine, but if you are thinking of eating here, don’t. My mum, best friend and I stumbled on here starving and ordered (quickly, as food was stopped being served at 8pm). Two of us ordered the burger and one the pie. The burger was indescribably bad, greasy and the meat unidentifiable - beef I think, but could have been horse. The bun was hard? But not burnt? Chips standard oven chips. The pie looked akin to what you may find in a primary school in the ghetto. Tasted like what you might find on the street in the ghetto. Pretty shocking. You don’t go for a pub like this looking for gourmet but I can honestly say I don’t think my Labrador would have eaten what was served, and he once ate a wall. On the plus side, the waitress was nice.

I & a friend called in there for a drink & sat outside very pleasant ( ale good) it's situated on a roundabout lots of seats

This is a basic pub with really lovely bar and waiting staff, they were excellent. The food is very so so. A bit on the mass produced side, frozen/microwave offerings. Not sure I would go again

Good local pub, part of a chain. Food can be ordered by phone and will be hot and ready for when you arrive, good if going in work lunch hour or pressed for time. Has TV screens showing sports, which is good for evening sporting events, but also not intrusive if eating a lunchtime meal. Good range of beers on tap.

You cannot escape the many TVs. Nice if you like that but for friends, family who wish to get together to chat, not recommended. There are activities for kids and sometimes fun days set up.

Used to be good but now the quality has dropped, they serve pizza but they never have when is ordered.

Always tasty food and big portions, nice selection of alcohol. They have 2 parts of the pub , which allows you to choose, section for food if you are willing to eat ir a pub section , where you can have just a drink and play some pool. Like this place, nice and friendly atmosphere
