It was nice not a lot of people waitress good food was OK but could have been a bit hotter vegetables average

Went there 17/11/24. Found the staff so helpful, happy to serve you, greated you, and served you with a smile. The food was good and value for money. An enjoyable experience. 10 out of 10.

The Mix Grill dish is delicious and delicious Kudos to the Head Chef. I can recommend it to everyone 👌 Thank you

Fantastic service. Great food. Well priced. The server was excellent and very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was very well put together, tasty and with good portion sizes. The roasts were great. They had very good allergy and gluten free options, with a separate menu for gluten free food. The beer was tasty and locally sourced. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely "local" pub, tucked away nicely so that you know it because you know it, off the beaten track. Always a pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff and great food. Recommended.

I don't go out to eat normally but decided I'd treat my friend to a Sunday roast as walking distance from where I live. Waitress was friendly and recommended a drink for my friend which she enjoyed. As for the food is was not great. I had Roast beef (only 1 slice - a bit stingey!), my Yorkshire pudding looked like someone had stuck a pin in it and roast potatoes overcooked and hard to cut. My friend had ultimate roast. Her beef was rare but very fatty, the smallest bit of broccoli possible and hard potatoes. Her pork was ok. My friend had a pudding (not enough custard). I had mini dessert and coffee. Barely a scoop of ice cream and asked for Cappuccino got Latte. Didn't realise until after I pointed out a few of the problems when I paid . No offer of reduction in bill. The waitress said you should have said when I asked. We had barely taken a mouthful at that point. I put a couple of comments on feedback from but was not enough room. I hate complaining but it was more in order to rectify for future . £55 for 2. I gave a 10% tip on top. Not sure why! Not too bad price if food was better

I met a good friend and arrange to meet On Wednesday afternoon. The staff were brilliant couldn't do enough especially the manager, who looked after me as I was on crutches. The lunch for my son's hit the spot and then in the evening then dinner was excellent whilst listening to the quiz night. Thank you

We used to live in Potters Bar and was always our favourite. Popped in tonight and the welcome from Suzy and Katie was first class. Now there is more of a vibe with lights dimmed and a great sound track it’s much better. Was always a little too ‘regular’ focused before. Whatever you guys are doing keep it this way.

Food and service were excellent. Really enjoyed the Hunter's Chicken.

Cheese and bacon burger nice and juicy Steak med rare was well.cooked and good flavours loving the waffle chips! Better menu than before amd the shrill sounding landlady has departed!

It was nice food and lovely staff. Very homely and feels cosy.

Super pub. Visited at a quiet time on a weekday lunchtime with a large family group. Service was leisurely but that suited us. Extensive menu. Reasonable prices. Nice food. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Nice and quiet so easy to chat round a large table. Spacious carpark including a disabled spot. Backstreet location. Felt like being in the countryside. Nothing to dislike at all in fact. Heartily recommend! We will be back.

We were at the Builders Arms for a wake yesterday and would like to thank Kerry for being so thoughtful and sensitive throughout the day. She was super organised and her and her team helped make the day a great success. Thank you.

This is the second time visiting builders arm. The first time we had a roast and this was lovely however we returned today in the hope to have the same experience and we didn’t. The roasts were really disappointing, the roast potatoes were barely roasted, were tough to eat. Stuffing were almost raw still, and when we asked for more gravy the gravy smelt like an ashtray. We asked for another and that smelt the same. At the end, we voiced our issues about the food and were just advised that it would be taken back to the kitchen. Was not worth the £75 we paid at all!

Visit here regularly with friends or family. The food is of good quality, they also offer a lunchtime menu. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely be going back with friends/family soon.

Great soup and service, the staff are always so warm and welcoming. Although Daniel is my favourite, Suzie is a close second because she talks to me the most as i study at the pub. It makes my day a bit better every time. Alison always gives me a straw with my drink which i appreciate too. Scarlett and Katie are lovely to chat to as well, Chloe and Tina do an amazing job at the quiz. I haven't gotten the chance to speak to Kara, Amber and Ella yet but they're very polite and welcoming as well. Phil also does a very good job at making the food, although you probably won't see him much and Fernando (another chef) is a really sweet guy, i got a rose for international womens day from him. Overall a very lovely team of people. Kerry and a few others do a really good job at painting the signs, they're always so interesting to look at. The decorations are lovely, I like how much effort is put into them, especially when they put baloons up for seasonal things. The winter ones were so pretty with baloons filled with white confetti, it had a winter wonderland feel to it i can't wait to see what they do next :)

My wife and I travel 125 miles every fortnight to visit my elderly godparents, and we always end up at The Builders. If only to visit the pub it would be worth the travel, a lovely place that makes you feel warm and wanted, staff that are wonderful and friendly, and food that is excellent If only we had such a pub near us…! The Builders harks back to the days of your ‘local’ and is all the better for it. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

We had a lovely afternoon on Mother's Day at The Builders Arms. We all chose the roast and no - one was disappointed. Good portion sizes and a tasty selection of vegetables. The pub has a warm family feel to it and the service was excellent. We are lucky to have this traditional pub in Potters Bar.

Cosy pub, comfortable seats, Tuesday night was bit quite, food averagely OK, they do special events like Valentine's meals and pancake day special, worth to try.

Staff disinterested. Would not go there again as did not feel welcome. Incorrect orders. Bill incorrect as nothing deducted. Coffee servd half an hour befire the dessert. Was ordered together as xmall dessert with coffee.

Came here on boxing day. I am not from the area and this was the first time I had been here. It is a lovely cosy pub inside. Food was amazing, very tasty and cooked beautifully. Service took a while between each course, but it was quite busy and boxing day. Would definitely recommend this place to eat.

Nice pub and decent atmosphere. The serving staff were a little overrun but they did a lot better than I expected. I've had worse. They acknowledged the service wasn't as good as they usually deliver. The food wasn't great. It wasn't terrible but not great. I would return for a drink but probably not to eat. I'm more of a "do less well than lots mediocre" type of person.

Lovely little pub staff were friendly and the food was nice and fresh. The locals were Friendly and the 2 old boys that must be residents ar the var had no problems with moving furniture so they had their spot I found them amazing a bit like the old boys on the puppet show x

Lovely non assuming pub. The atmosphere took me back to when pubs were pubs & not trying to be something other than an honest pub. Excellent service. Decent well cooked food. Very clean toilets. Reasonable prices. All in all a very nice place. Going back on 01/12/2023 to see Michael Buble entertainment & a festive meal. Good choice of veggie festive menu. Anybody wishing to visit an honest English pub ought to give it a try.

The decorations for Halloween look wonderful and the atmosphere is friendly and the food was very good.

Very dog friendly all the staff at some point and other customers passing made a fuss of my dog. Food was excellent and service was pleasant and quick. There was even a friendly quiz night happening. Highly recommended

We went to this Pub as it was recommended to us. The Interior of the pub was clean, warm and welcoming. We were greeted with a great friendly smile from the staff. We ordered a Ultimate Roast and a Ultimate Veg Roast, and some drinks of course. We found the vegatables which comes with the roasts were a bare minimum (2 small florets of brockly) just fitted both on one tablespoon. We were told there was parsnips with the veg roast but to my amazement we couldn't find them in the plate. The meats (Gammon and Pork) were cold and tough, at first I thought it was shoe leather but shoe leather was softer and easier to cut. The amount of gravy we got was barely enough for one person let alone two people. The stuffing was like eating a walnut with its shell. We also ordered the salad which did not come when the meal came. We enquired about the salad and we were told they forgot to put it on the order, but if we wanted some it would take half an hour. Sadly we had to leave the meals partly eaten (10%) as we had driven a long way there. Was this a one off? Not sure..... I can recommend the pub for its cleaniness and friendly greeting from the staff. Sadly I cannot recommed the food here.

Very average. Good beer and food and service. Very quiet so able hear the staff discussing "business" about Pub targets, budgets etc. Customers should not have to hear such chat.

10 of us went here yesterday for lunch / diner. Everyone really enjoyed their food and the service was really good. Also dog friendly which is a big plus and unlike other pubs locally (like the brookmans) you can sit anywhere with them. Will defo be back soon. Thanks very much!

Waited for coffee that was ordered and paid for, asked if i minded if she served someone said thats ok 4 customers later had to ask for my coffee , other customers had to wait. at one point all the staff left the bar empty

Delightful pub with delicious food and great service. The curved layout is deceptive and it can feel cozy by the fire or seat lots of us for Christmas lunch. Wonderful place for a drink or dinner or one of the fun themed nights. They also offer functions such as funerals

Lovely spot for lunch on a weekday. Food was really good and reasonably priced too. Service was lovely and they looked after myself and my team, even though we turned up unannounced behind two pretty large pre-booked parties. There was a very acceptable wait for food/drinks and at no point did we feel like we were delayed in any way. **Edited review as didn't realise I'd clicked 4 and not 5 stars!**

Warm welcome, although very busy with and a party of 16 to serve the services was impeccable. Really fast services could fault the services defiantly would recommend to friends and family.

Great pub! Lovely interior and nice garden terrace too. I went and got the fish and chips with a friend, which was delicious. Very nice place to go on a sunny day, as there's Gobions Wood nature reserve 15 minutes walk away for a beautiful walk.

Afternoon tea with cocktails yesterday. Fantastic, whole party had a great time could not have been better. Congratulations to Tina and her team who made it suchan enjoyable afternoon. Already looking forward to the next one in April.

I am pleasantly surprised at the change in the builders arms, which is a local pub to me. The new management ( Tina) has made a tremendous change. Seeing a improvement in overall service & quality. The atmosphere has grown and more and more people are coming to the builders, making the pub a great choice in pottersbar.

Such a lovely pub and we’ve aways loved it there. Kim ran it with a cheerful, friendly ‘nothing too much trouble attitude’ Family and friends have also been using it for years. Always been good value food and friendly atmosphere… until Kim left. Friends have stopped going there and told us they won’t whilst Tina is in situ. However we were not to be deterred and thought we would make our own judgements. Sad to say we had to agree with them. The new management needs to attend customer friendly classes.. so sad that we won’t be returning whilst Tina is there. Treats you as though she is doing you a favour by having you in there.

Had 4 meals here in the last few weeks. Hunters chicken was gorgeous, fish and chips was amazing, my friend had vegetarian beetroot burger. Keep up the good work.

On a freezing cold day the joy of being able to sit by a fire cannot be understated. Both barstaff were helpful our lunches were served quickly and at our request we were provided with extra hot water for the teapot. A pleasant lunch in pleasant and warm surrounds

Awful New Year at the Builders Arms, definitely will not be going there again. Told us we was late, yet no time had been specified. Then told no food available only sweet, which consisted of a plate of profiteroles. Was originally told it was a band and yet an elderly DJ. To think our party paid £110 for this. Overpriced drink. Will not be going there again. In reply to answer from Manager Nobody from our party was given a time and we was there by 8.45. 11 was booked in and 5 of us was able to turn up due to Covid. Lots of food was on other tables and yet ours wasn't saved. When booked was told it would be a a band but ended up a DJ.

Good service made to feel at home

Stopped on way home for food !! , tried again after year ago really bad , and same again today, beer tasted like pile wear dirty and food over priced and small portions!! And had send back don’s steak as asked for medium and was un cooked and like old off cut and very poor quality!! Only bonus was lady working was lovely! But won’t return again as tried in few times and every time let down by food.
