Rules for coffee shop customers in 2024 are disappointing. I'm all for promoting conversation, but if we're going to ban small businesses using laptops (who are mostly considerate about spending money, rather than table hogging) are we also going to ban phones and people with their head in books? It wasn't dealt with in a friendly way, and you'd think a small business with plenty of spare tables (ie could benefit from more more business) wouldn't feel the need to be grumpy about having custom. Let's treat each other as adults. The coffee is OK, but Brad & Dill's, Silver Palette and others do friendly service, and support local business owners who work (and who give up their seats if busy). For people who live alone, coffee shop working for an hour or so can be a mental health lifeline. Laptops rules are like old-fashioned dress codes. When you travel to Scandinavia, Baltic states, Spain, Portugal, Asia, you never seem to come across this. But hey, it's your place, you decide. As with pubs, there are plenty of other options.

Visit this shop on a weekly basis with the family for take away - the staff are always so polite and friendly! The food is good value for money and plentiful! Nice to see them remaining open during lockdown whilst following the social distancing!

We had a fairly extensive delivery. It was late and the driver did not expect to be paid in cash as we had been instructed to do. Contrary to a promise (on the 'phone) it included no complementary desserts. Worst, and potentially dangerous, a chicken dish contained uncooked chicken. The piece was raw, red, and could not be cut through with a dining knife. We e-mailed Nonno, with a photograph of the uncooked chicken , as a courtesy to them, and expected a most urgent response to a serious complaint about a dish that could have resulted in severe food poisoning. We received no response.

Don’t have high expectations when eating in Morrisons in St. Albans. But today’s meal was terrible. Pie was burnt inside, so pastry was rock hard. Gravy was like dishwater. Mushy Peas were crunchy!! Mash potato was bland. No wonder so many of the cafes are closing, standards have really slipped.

Usually a good breakfast at Spoons, this one which was the biggest looked like it had been dropped and the contents picked up and thrown on the plate. It took a while, I suspect it sat waiting to be brought out as it was luke warm. Bacon cold and chewy, sausages cheap and tasteless eggs greasy and over cooked. It was worth what I paid but would prefer to pay a bit more for quality and better service.
