Very hit or miss. We come here quite often and we loved the smoky chicken in the salad - straight off the grill and nicely charred but recently when we came in it tasted completely different definitely not off the grill and it just wasn’t very nice. The service here is not the best we always have to go get our own sauces and cutlery and the staff don’t really check up on you - which for a pricier pub like this one you’d think they would. The fries are definitely hit or miss sometimes they’re crispy straight out of the fryer and sometimes they’re cold. However they do have a separate gluten free menu which is nice.

I was in the area for a friends wedding just down the road and came here for some lunch and was very impressed. The decor was beautiful and you can tell it was a historic place and had this welcoming feel to it. The staff were really friendly, the service was quick and the food was delicious. Reasonably priced, too! Next time I am back in the area I will visit again!

Sadly the worst meal I have ever had.. Visited many times before, and the burgers and lasagna were good, but this visit the food was terrible. Tried ordering the roast lamb, but as with every visit there wasn't any. Ordered roast beef and roast gammon, the carrots were obviously tired, the roast potatoes and parsnips were hard and had been roasted time and time again, the beaf was dark, over cooked tuff, and gammon also the same

Food was tepid, unable to cut roast beef and parsnips, peas and carrots looked as if they came out of a tin, roast potatoes soft and not crispy. Staff albeit on hand had difficulty in raising a smile, beer passable. This was our first time in this public house and will definitly be our last, it is no wonder inns are closing at the rate they are if this is a sample.

Although I’ve not been there for a few months, I hold this pub very close to my heart, definitely wouldn’t have been able to finish my degree without The Crown. The staff are wonderful and it’s quiet during the day so great place to work. There are midweek events like pub quizzes, speed dating and sip and paint classes but I’ve never attended so I can’t speak about the quality. Unfortunately the guiness tastes a bit like soap and you have to ask for the volume to be put on for the football but considering the size of the pub, the staff and the plethora of plug sockets, this is a small price to pay

My son managed to lock himself out of his flat, so after we rescued him with our spare keys, we thought we would go for an unplanned lunch. The Italian opposite was full so we thought we’d try The Crown. The food was standard pub grub with an ok burger, nachos that were covered with BBQ sauce rather than salsa and a fish goujon sandwich. The goujons were clearly frozen and the portion wasn’t generous which it probably an advantage as they were not very good. The drinks and the service were fine and the pub is pleasant enough.

Roast was so disappointing, meat was grilled not roasted and the potatoes were badly cooked- couldnt exactly figure out what was wrong with them but didn't eat them. The vegetables were just sad, no broccoli. Stuffing was nice but stuffing isn't difficult. I had to ask for the plate to be sent back and to get a different meal, I asked for a burger as I didnt think you could go wrong with that.. I was wrong sadly. I dont recommend this places food, the garden looks nice so would be good for a drink but definitely not the food.

Decent local pub. Went there to watch a game and have quick lunch. The pub is welcoming and the staff are nice and accomodating. A couple of improvements would help improve the experience though. Investing in HD channels would help getting rid of the blurry image particurlarly on the larger TV. Also my burger was bit too basic for the price with no sauce inside.

Haven't been here for quite a long time. The last time was when it had just been refurbished. This visit I felt quite a nice atmosphere, a shame the football was inescapable would have been nice to not have to listen to it in at least one part of the pub but at least it wasn't on screen in your face. The Sunday lunch was super tasty - my only criticism was it wasn't very hot which is a shame otherwise would have given 5 stars

Tried to book a party 18birthday for family. Communication took place over 2 weeks, with store manager and 3 other members of the team. I was given price per room of £175 (if we opt for catering this fee would be waved off and I'd pay £10 /pp for sandwiches). All that had to be done , was email sent by the manager - his admin day is apparently Monday...it is Friday and I'm still waiting. I called the pub and the manager tells me they don't do family party for 18 yo, and that he has never spoken to me (even thou he said in the first sentence...yes this rings a bell. And I recognised his voice). He was rather rude and obnoxious. Now days, where you think pubs are struggling and we are trying to support them not going under, you would expect way better service.

I came here for the first time and pub was lovely and the food was lovely but the attitude from the the staff was shocking… i came with my sister and my 2 kids and her two kids..ages 2 year olds 4 year old and 11 year old… the youngest children were excited too see each-other so as you imagine alot of excitement happy screams jumpin etc… the man with the pigtail was getting so annoyed and told us that level of behaviour is unacceptable.. he then continue looking at the kids talking about them to the staff and was counting to himself 123 as if he had to control his anger… the waitress older woman with messy bun walk past my child stood still and threw her hands up in the air and shook her hand because my 2 year old child walked infront of her… my kids were not behaving badly just excitement.. my sister then called her other half to come get her 2 years old daughter because she felt she couldnt have here there as she screams with excitement… the kids settled and ate their dinner and was no bother before we left my 4 year old pulled his chair out… and the waitress said to him “you best put that back because if an old person falls over you be in the world of trouble” also the waitress brought my main dinner out with my starter which i said i dont want my main now im eating my starter for her to get annoyed about that….. food was lovely but the staff are not welcoming they are rude and ive never had that bad customer service before
