Papa Johns in St Albans

I called the St Albans store to ask for help with ordering. I have the student free personal pizza deal on my app and when I’m trying to order it says coupon is no longer valid. It says it’s valid until the 31st October. I called up the store to ask for help and the man kept on interrupting me. He said he can’t do anything to help and it’s all online and to contact the customer service. I said the customer service line is closed and he told me to try again tomorrow. I asked to speak to a manager and he informed me that he was the manager. I tried to explain the issue again and ask for help and the man continued to cut me off, I asked him to let me continue speaking multiple times and he refused, then hung up the phone call on me. I am horrified at the ‘customer service’ from this man who is supposed to be a manager.

Bbq base was too off, and they splashed he bbq sauce all over my wings. It was not too much.

Ordered a pizza with pepperoni on it tonight and the three people who split it all fell ill with food poisoning after about 2 hrs after eating it. Called up to complain and not even an apology or acknowledgement received from the staff member, who seemed to be clueless about how to handle this. Never ordering from here again.

I have been ordering from papa johns for many years at least 4 to 5 times a week and spending £35 every time I order but after I saw they are supporting Israel agents Palestine and humanity I will never ever go back.

Terrible. Do not order from this restaurant, if that’s what you can call it. I would give this place a 0 if I could. Food took over 2 hours to be delivered (I live 3 minutes from the place), turned up cold and tasted like s**t. I would never order from this place, please don’t waste your money like I did.

I've only collected from here, but on the handful of occasions that I have, I've never had a problem with the food or service. There's not really an atmosphere as the staff are busy making orders, but they've always been polite when serving me. The pizza isn't the best pizza that I've had, but it is better than other local places.

Ignore the bad reviews, Iv been collecting the same pizza here almost weekly for nearly a year and it’s always consistent and a bonus is you get it dirt cheap if you collect.

Took half an hour for delivery driver to "find" the place from once he said he was here. Went all around the houses claiming to not know where it was trying to keep the pizza. Rude and unapologetically useless. Couldn't just follow Google maps.

Recently picked up an order of pizza here and found it a good experience. Staff were friendly and they were quick to make 6 pizzas (we had phoned ahead). Parking was handy and it was easy to find.

Ordered 11:29am on a Wednesday. Delivery sooooooooo slow. Arrived 12:31. Turned up cold/lukewarm. The driver based traffic!!! Should’ve taken less than 15 mins to deliver. This seems to happen every time I have ordered from this store. Great tasting pizzas but very disappointing service. Enough is enough. Deleted the app. Don’t waste you time ordering from here. I suspect ordering from the Hatfield branch would be quicker!

Taken over an hour to deliver food and no one answers the phone shocking customer service. They should be shut down.

Never had a worse pizza in my life... I'd rather have eaten a thrown-out domino's pizza left behind the bin than what I ordered from here. Delivery was over an hour, phoned for a refund which was never processed. Staff could barely speak English and I won't comment on the customer service... do yourself a favour and get the £5 deal from Tesco's... disgusting establishment.

Absolutely outraged my son and his friends orderd over 100 pounds worth of pizzas and got a discount, it was a birthday celebration, he's just thrown his guts up and all the chicken and meat from the pizzas is still undigested. Absolutely applaud he's the 3rd lad to get get sick in an hour two more are extremely poorly throwing up almost all the same stuff, pizza and chicken. Absolutely no answer from restaurant my teen son's in agony and so are his friends. Saving a sample to send to environmental health!

Dry pizza like cardboard for the second time. 1 star is for the delivery driver who was polite.

Collected my pizza. After seeing some of the negative delivery comments I’m so glad I collected my pizza. Pizzas were made quickly and both pizzas was very tasty. Free tubs of garlic with pizza.

Very late delivery and app said it was out being delivered for an hour and then had been delivered for 20 mins before it arrived. Tried phoning store to enquire but never picked up the lines. Pizzas were warm and disappointing not helped by angry kids who had been waiting so long.

Useless, waited over an hour for pizza and still not arrived. Called and said it would be another 15 mins. Either collect or avoid all together...

Now they charge for delivery and prompt for a tip, REALLY. Delivery service is poor, took 1 hour for my order to be delivered, not good enough. Once arrived and after a couple of phone calls to them, my pizza was practically cold.....I'll never order from them again....PS. the toppings are far from generous.....

40 mins late on delivery, people ignoring my second call but maybe busy. Got there in the end and delivery person pilot and apologetic. Nice pizza, only too expensive in my view to buy as single.

Pizzas arrived after 3 phone calls and 1.5 hours. Food quality was also very poor.

Consistently good pizza, every time.

After 1.5 hours and 4 phonecalls my pizza finally arrived. Stone cold. Staff are friendly but just fob you off to get you off the phone. Do not order takeaways much but certainly wont be ordering from these lot again. The pizza is not up to the Papa Johns standard in any case. The order tracker will display that your order is delivered after 45 minutes just so they keep on top of the stats and make themselves look good to their head office.

Ordered a pizza at 22:07 and by 22:20 my order was cancelled. I called the shop and they said “we close early to clean” I’m sure that’s supposed to be done after the shop shuts. I’m sure it’s supposed to be closed to the public aka no more food. After 11pm... shocking work ethic

I had ordered a pizza online and it came with hairs baked into my food, both in the pizza and in the desert. Raised a complaint with the company and they ruled that there were no breaches in their health and safety in store. Funny outcome, seeing how everyone who had it was sick with food poisoning for days after this meal.

Hy just ordered a pizza medium size true deliveroo and I paid 32 pounds for the smallest pizza I had in my life with a couple of toppings that they were zero .I will never order again from here and I suggest to check before paying 32 pounds for a pizza.Totally disgusting 😑

Quick delivery but the garlic bread pizza was dry as a bone and like cardboard. The pizza was average not got any nice rich tomatoe kick you come to expect from a pizza and stingy on the pepperoni. The deal on offer was good but won’t order again as it was just all bang average

A Papa John's Pizza is good. However, if your order is wrong, delayed or placed via a food delivery app this franchise is not equipped to cope. The staff can't handle simple problems and/or don't have customer service training to be able to deal with the general public. The manager is inept and rude and should not be working in such a business.

We ordered 2 pizzas, 3 sides and a drink. Unfortunately, they forgot to deliver the pizzas. No apology from the delivery driver, just “I’ll be back in 10 minutes”. 30 minutes later I had to phone to ask where pizzas were, to be told the driver had “left 5 minutes ago” (we only live 5 minutes away!). 15 minutes later, the pizzas were finally delivered (still no apology). We had hoped the pizzas would at least be fresh, but no. They had obviously been made for the first delivery and then just heated up in the microwave before they eventually came to us. Really disappointed and won’t be going back, plenty of other pizza places in St Albans

Had better frozen pizza. It must have took some effort to make the sides so bad too. Chicken dippers were inedible. For the price I was amazed how awful it was.

Ordered to collect and was expectant but the chocolate scrolls (£5.99) were such disappointing. They were burnt and I called stating the issue, only to get a response saying thats how the scrolls should've been made- burnt with spread of chocolate for 5.99 absolutely ridiculous!!

I always like Papa John's Pizza for their quality maintained consistently.. desserts are so yummy here. Pocket friendly deals and great service.

Great pizzas! Loved the vegan one as well! Caution - order direct. I used UberEats and the pizza never came. I called the restaurant and they made 2 new pizzas and brought them direct in 20 mins. - No charge!!! Great pizza too. I will only be ordering from Papa John's in the future.

I ordered a pizza and a side from here on the 3rd of July and it came lovely and hot. The delivery driver was also following social distancing and was very polite. I will be ordering from here again 👍🏻

Waited 1hr 20 minutes for raw potato tots...had to throw them away they mad me gag. Pizza wasnt hot. Will stick to dominos.

Not bad pizzas but very expensive!

I normally use Papa johns in West Hampstead and the service is fantastic and the pizza delicious. This is not the case for the St Albans franchise. Our food was late, cold and the wrong side dishes arrived. We were offered a 50% refund and in cash only (even though we paid by card), after two calls to the restaurant they have still not processed the refund and have been very unhelpful. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THE WRONG FOOD DELIVERED COLD AND LATE.

There was a technical problem with my order but I spoke to the branch and they were so kind and helpful. They resolved the issue and got our food out to us ASAP and were so lovely. We are regulars here as the pizza is so delicious. I highly recommend ordering from papa johns at Albans if you want good service and tasty pizza.

Can never find my address no matter how many times I have ordered in the past and it always involves phone calls to direct the driver - by the time the pizza gets here it’s 2 hours later and cold. I love papa johns pizza but hate this branch!

We’ve only been here once and never returned. The person taking our order on the phone could not speak hardly any English, he was rude and dismissive. They got out order wrong, when we checked the pizza we had to ask them to re make it much to their disliking, they were very surly and not apologetic at all for getting our order wrong. There was no love or care in making the pizza that was obvious.

Epic pizza. Make sure to get the buy one get one free deal, made it rlly cheap. Papa bless🙏

Whilst staying in St Albans for the Easter bank holiday,i decided to order a lunchtime delivery here. The freshness of the pizza and ingredients was perfect,absolutely mouthwatering delicious. The delivery wasn't that long either and both the value and service was impressive. To be recommended. I'll definitely use this firm again. 👍😎

Papa johns stuff have registered us with with some online scam costing us £15 a month. We can prove it's them as the card wasn't used anywhere else- this was the first and last time we've used this card. THEVES

Pizza looked like a mess, it used to be the best pizza in the area, must be some staff changes.

The delivery service really must improve. It took more than one hour for just one 🍕 to be delivered and when it did, it was cold 😐 not sure if this branch is really worthy of the franchise licence 🤬

If I could give this operation less than one star I would. Twice now we have had delivery issues, which not been resolved - they won't be getting another chance with my family. But frankly they don't actually care. Papa J pizzas from other locations are probably okay but this operation is being run by clowns and the mamagement need to reassess their staff amd how orders are processed.

The pizza from Papa John's in St Albans is alright, nothing special but fairly decent... standard Papa John's pizza really. Compared to other pizza takeaways the pricing is average and there's always a deal to be taken advantage of. But if you're feeling hungry don't order from Papa John's, we've rarely had a pizza delivered in less than an hour and occasionally it'll take up to three months to arrive (maybe I'm exaggerating a little but that's what it felt like at the time). We frequently had items missing from our order, only drinks & side dishes so nothing which caused us any distress but it was frustrating none-the-less. I've stopped ordering from Papa John's and switched allegiance to Pizza Hut on Beech Road, similar pricing, similar quality but much quicker service.

Took ages to come, when it was it was nearly right but it wasn't, toppings weren't what we ordered online, was really greasy and sides weren't right either, who the hell would order 3 portions or garlic knots, I just wanted a double dip garlic and herb, FAIL

Awful. Ordered online , was delayed by "20 minuets" 50 minuets past the delayed time , not the original time, we where told the driver was on his way. 20 minuets later and we had to call again as it was still not here and the branch is very local to us, shortly after complaining the rude delivery man handed me our pizzas without even a simple apology for the huge delay on a Sunday afternoon, not peak times at all. When we opened the pizzas they where extremely under cooked but burnt on the outside which was so doughy and vile that we couldn't even eat them. £30 for 2 inedible pizzas which took a total of 2 and a half hours. I would strongly recommend nobody order from this branch. Have been told we will get half price on our next order but reading other reviews it seems this is an empty promise this branch likes to throw about .

It's a straightforward review as predictably you know what you're getting, always consistent and usually fast to deliver this branch seem to do well. With Nonos and the Med grill on the doorstep also providing good pizzas they seem to keep up with the competition.

I have had two experiences with this restaurant, one of them bad, the other ...well judge for yourself. First time was told to collect pizza in 15 mins, was kept waiting 30 mins. Decided (stupidly) to give them a second try. I was about to enter this establishment for a take-away and one of the guys making the pizzas was picking his nose (quite extensively). Did not wash hands. Yuk! I instead went to Cheers across the road. Similar price/quality but without any "added extras".

Awful! Delivery took 1 1/2 hours, food was cold. No call back from local management to deal with the issue. Escalated to Papa John's UK to experience equally slow and unsatisfactory customer service.

AWFUL! my under-cooked pizza arrived in 1hour 40 minutes, and was cold so i called to complain. was told i would get a free pizza and they were sorry. when i call to get my free pizza they keep making me call back then claim to have no recollection or note of me complaining so refuse to honor their promise. never had a bad papa johns before here. awful food, bad liars. poor service, slow delivery.

Nosotros mismos habíamos (familia de 4) y nuestros amigos (familia de 5) disfrutar de un festín de pizza mini en nuestro hotel y decidimos ir con Papa Johns en lugar de nuestro habitual Dominos. Ah. Mi. Dios! La pizza era absolutamente increíble para comer el pan de ajo y cursi era para morirse. Encontramos una oferta en línea que era 3 pizzas grandes por £30. Estas alimentado 7 de 9, así que mi amigo y compartimos un tamaño margarita. También pedimos un pan de ajo y uno ordinario cursi pan de ajo. La comida era comido completamente en menos de 10 minutos. Increíble relación calidad-precio y sin duda volvería en lugar de Dominos.

Thought I'd treat myself to papa johns over my usual Domino's. The veg on the pizza were slightly other than that the pizza wasn't too bad. You potato wedges were undercooked and the Brownie was burnt.

Good pizza always cooked to perfection and not burnt like most others in the area. Good selection. Love the hot wings...better than KFC! A little pricey for a pizza delivery place, so search the internet for discount codes before you order.

Good pizza. Check the menu online, because it changes from time to time. I came and ordered two pizzas, done both within 20min of waiting. The member of staff even recommended the best deal of the day so that I've paid less. There are 3 seats inside for waiting.

La pizza en sí tenía la salsa de tomate se caían. El queso fue sólo la mitad de la pizza. En el pollo apenas alguna pizza. No se cortó, así que tuvimos que adecuadamente el desgaste. Mis hijos no pude comer la pizza porque era tan horrible. Cuando fui al teléfono y quejarse, fueron muy groseros, brusco y no me ayudaron en nada. No volvería y no se lo recomendaría a cualquiera.

Food is quite good, but the online ordering process and customer service is appalling, it is near impossible to place an order and half the time the system gets it wrong somehow.

Honestly had the worst experience. Website is terrible. On an iphone the space left to actually see the selection (after toolbars and navigation buttons) is tiny. Trying to make a deal work is confusing and didn't work 5 times after the website freezing over and over it then added the wrong pizzas and wouldn't even let us select sides. Tried calling up the store instead, the guy got our number wrong repeatedly and when I asked to hear it back it was gone entirely. When asking about dip he gave us 3 after asking for 4 because that's what he said would be enough. He said we could get the same deal we had online (50 percent off) but then only gave us 25 percent and when I questioned it he then said he had done it and read out the total and I double checked the deal and he said it was only 45 percent off and then had to go get his manager but was gone for a good 5 minutes so I hung up and after 20 minutes of struggling on a different phone managed to place the order online. The tracker then told me to 'tuck in' 15 minutes before pizza actually arrived. The delivery took best part of an hour. Cheesy jalapeño bites were barely warm and pizza was underwhelming. The whole process took at least 2 hours so we didn't end up eating till 9pm. This was our first try of Papa John's after trying to differ from domino's. It wasn't to our taste but it it was the whole experience that is why we will be avoiding it from now on

Placed an order #6304009... We were left waiting and hungry.... I called up 10 times and nobody even answered the phone.... Great website happy to take money....terrible service..... As an alternative I would suggest giving £20 to charity and fasting for the evening, very similar outcome but with at least some slight gratification. ....starving out of pocket customer....

Really easy to order, and turned up in under 30 minutes! Best pizza I've had in a while, however the price is a bit high!
