We had lunch here and both left very happy. We weren’t kept waiting at all and our waiter was very friendly. As to the pizza, the generous amount of toppings and the taste of a wood fired crust means I’ll be thinking of this pizza for a while yet.

Ordered Take Away with delivery. Pizzas arrived relatively quickly, but the quality was no way good enough or up to usual standard you would expect from Nonnos. We think they must subcontract pizza making to someone else!! They we’re literally slapped together, and nothing like the description on current menu. Unfortunately half of pizzas were left uneaten due to poor quality. Doubt I will go back to Nonnos in a hurry 🤦♂️

I don’t know what the food is like. I’m not going to ever try it. Because they keep texting me. I don’t get any other spam by text. Just Nonnos. I block them every time. But still, I get texts. What makes them think that constant, unsolicited spamming by text would make anyone want to give them their custom?

Worst takeaway experience ever . Two hours after ordering our food had not arrived , the restaurant telephone number was continually engaged and their live chat function took ten minutes to tell us they just run the website and couldnt provide us with any updates and suggested we ring them. this was after they charged both a processing fee of 75p for the order and a delivery fee of £3. As I write this we still have no food, no contact, and no delivery.

Went on a Monday evening in January. The food was good, as always, but the presentation, portion size and service was way below what we have experienced in the past few years. They seemed far more focused on their take away orders than us in the restaurant. I actually had to leave the table to find someone after waiting 20 min for drinks (we were one of 2 tables occupied in the restaurant). I won’t be returning.

Ordered a pizza to be delivered for the first time. When I ordered I was told that the pizza would take an hour. One and a half hours later I was still waiting. Called to chase and was told it would be 20mins. Half an hour later still not arrived. Tried calling, and the lune was either engaged or it went to answer phone. it eventually arrived over two hours later. I asked the driver to get the manager to call me, but 24hrs later I’m still waiting for that courtesy. I will certainly be cancelling the payment, I’m sure that way he will then contact me. Avoid. Ordered a pizza from our local but got transferred to another branch without being told. Went to collect at our local branch and they refused order and sent us miles away to get a cold pizza. I've just had the worst ham pizza ever from the St Albans' branch. Rather than use prosciutto as per the description they piled my pizza high with thick fatty smoked gammon. After trying to pull the ham off, all I ended up with was a very bland tomato base. Incredibly disappointing as their pizza used to be so good.

We knew we had a busy day, so wanted a delivery for 9.45pm.I telephoned St. Albans branch to place our order this afternoon , I was told that for my Post Code I should call the Wheathampstead Branch. This I did and placed my rider. The food arrived on time. It was well presented, hot and very tasty. We both had the 'veal escalope' with spaghetti. The veal however was not what we are used to as an escalope. It was a lovely large breaded veal chop - no complaints. As I am in the extremely vulnerable category, we have had quite a few delivered meals during this pandemic. My Wife's comment was that this was the nicest delivered meal she has had!

Visited the Wheathampstead restaurant in December before tier 4 and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fabulous. I would definitely recommend visiting the restaurant when it opens again. Felt very safe as they took measures and wore masks etc. Couldn't fault the food and we all loved it. I would have given this a 5 star rating but we ordered a takeaway yesterday and I can only assume that it wasn't the usual staff due to the holiday season. As we were told they would deliver and by the end of the phone call was asked to pick up the order. This was fine as we love the pizza's so much except they were cool by the time we got them home and staff in the restaurant weren't very friendly. They weren't unpleasant they just weren't giving their normal friendly reception. Maybe they had an off day, like we all do. I think we'll visit the restaurant again next time when we can but may rethink another delivery. Won't be put off as the pizza's are amazing.

Food an hour late. It was also wrong. Then when I told them there were items missing, they told me it was my fault that I didn’t open the box on my driveway in front of the driver to make sure my online order was fulfilled. Also, somehow it’s my fault they got the order wrong. Back chat from a slimey food place that’s not likely to last until the end of the corona virus pandemic.Never again. These people should be put on some cooking courses too because they gave me an entire ball of mozzarella... which tasted off. Everything was just grim looking and nasty. Wasted hard earned cash.

He was very rude and dismissive when he did speak to us. We had to ask for the bill 3 times actually getting up from the table to go and find him. I have been extremely happy with Nonno's before but this time was beyond disappointed. I made an online order at around 20:10 which was then accepted online at 20:14. As soon as I made the order I tried to call the restaurant to specify I needed the pizza's to be gluten-free and I am coeliac and this is how I have always been instructed by the restaurant to ask for the pizza's to be gluten-free as there is no option online. It took over half an hour and near 100 attempts at phone calls to get through which was both stressful and time-consuming and a waste of my time as a customer. When I eventually got through I managed to ensure the pizzas would be gluten-free and I was informed the pizza would arrive in about 20 minutes to half an hour as they were very busy. 50 minutes later the pizza had not arrived and I called again to be told that the pizza had just gone out with a delivery driver and would be with me in the next 10 minutes. The pizza still did not arrive and half an hour later we called again to be told it was almost there. When I pointed out it would be cold by now the owner fobbed me off rudely and said that they had special bags that keep the pizza warm. The pizza eventually arrived 15 minutes later at around 22:20, over 2 hours after the order was made, and it was cold so not at all enjoyable. Nonno's is expensive pizza, especially once you add the extra £3 for a gluten-free base, however in the past I have been willing to pay this as an occasional treat it has been the best gluten-free pizza I have found. However after this experience of not being able to get through on the phone and over 2 hours wait for cold disappointing pizza and being fobbed off with excuses I will not be ordering from Nonno's again much to my sadness, as the pizza is nice, as this service was unacceptable and very disappointing.

We popped in for dinner on Thursday evening having booked a couple of hours before, didn’t need to as it was nearly empty. We were greeted and pointed towards the back conservatory tables, the lack of people and music meant there was a total lack of atmosphere. We ordered a garlic pizza bread with tomato to start and this was so dry, the dough was very chewy and we couldn’t taste the garlic at all. We hoped things would get better. All three of us ordered different pasta dishes for main course and all three were pretty disappointing. All were very bland and we felt we could have made better at home! The carbonara was tasteless and the other two were just dominated by either plain tomato sauce or pesto. The service was lacking, nobody asked if the food was ok at any point and they seemed pretty disinterested in us even though there was hardly anyone else in there. When we went to pay it was on a card machine that offered a choice to tip, either a ‘no tip’ option or tip starting at 15%, there needs to be another option in between! I hate to write negative reviews about a local restaurant as I do hope they are successful, but the food does need to improve to compete with the many high standard Italians in St Albans.

I never write bad reviews because I don’t like to do that as I know it’s important for businesses to have decent reviews. But we ordered two pizzas and two garlic breads tonight. During the order I clicked to ‘register’ my account and then proceeded to add my order but during so I think it must have changed from ‘delivery’ option to ‘collection’ by default as it refreshed. Fine, no one’s fault! We waited an hour before we got a call asking us to collect our order. We explained we had wanted it delivered and whoever took the call was lovely, easily changing it for us. However it then didn’t arrive for another 40 minutes - so we called again to see what had happened. The man on the phone was SO RUDE. Like honestly I have never had customer service like that before, my boyfriend and I were so shocked. The guy shouted at us asking for our order, my boyfriend tried to tell him and the guy shouted ‘if you don’t have your order call back later’ and hung up on us. The same thing happened THREE TIMES. And all THREE times my boyfriend had been saying the orders we wanted. I called the 4th time and against my personality shouted to NOT HANG UP ON US WE ARE TRYING TO ORDER. The guy was literally so rude the whole way through and snapped at me throughout the order.Literally the only reason i’m even giving 2 stars is because when the driver DID turn up he was so nice. It wasn’t his fault at all. The pizza turned up stone cold so we had to heat them in the oven for 10 minutes. Again, no one’s fault technically as there was a confusion with the order so it probably sat for a while waiting for us to collect it. But I can’t get over the guys rudeness. It’s such a shame too as my boyfriend and I have a thing for pizza. We order weekly as a treat and have just moved to this city - if it had been decent this would have been our regular as we used to have one in our previous place, but I don’t think i’ll order here again. Think i’d rather find somewhere where the pizza and staffing are nicer. I don’t care if you are busy on a bank holiday Friday, I don’t talk to people at my work like that when i’m busy. It’s absolutely no excuse. I still can’t believe he was that rude. I’m really not someone to make a fuss or shout about anyone but that was awful. Pass that on to whoever it was.

Not only deliveroo delivered wrong pizzas and pastas (Nonno’s said not their fault!) but also the food was simply not good. Pizza was average at best, nobody from our party of 5 enjoyed it. The pastas were so boring. Especially the one with tomato sauce and prawns. Totally bland sauces and over cooked pasta. Just a waste of £90 and we will never return or order again. Italian food is all about flavour. After literally just coming back from Italy and enjoying the best food, we can sadly say Nonno’s is not what Italian should be. Arrived on time to be told they hadn't started, 5 mins further waiting and they hadn't even put it in the oven. When questioned what was happening I was told they were very busy. Shame as the pizza is good but with so many other options in St Albans we shan't be ordering again.

We were taken by friends and what a meal we had. The staff are fantastic and the food was superb. There is plenty of choice of pasta and pizzas. We couldn't decided so a lot of sharing took place although no one had a pizza. Saying that the pizzas coming out to customers looked great. My personal favourite was spaghetti bolognaise with meatballs. The desserts were also yum.

Tried Nonno’s this evening following a recommendation from a friend. Ordered online, then went down to collect. Wasn’t quite ready, so Nonno apologised and quickly provided a complimentary tiramisu. Food was absolutely delicious and piping hot. Thank you.

I have heard so much about this Restaurant, from friends and family, I thought I would give it a try! I was transported to Italy, truly authentic cuisine and absolutely delicious!I had the olives to start, a generous portion, enough for two but I had no trouble eating them while a waited for my main meal!My taste buds were zinging, I had the seafood pasta, it was totally delicious and the best I have ever tasted. Cooked from scratch, and well worth the wait A good choice on the menu from Pizza, Pasta, Calzoni, Salads, Desserts etc there is also a Children’s Menu!I sat in the Garden area of the restaurant, a lovely atmosphere and very relaxed. If it turns chilly in the evening, they have outside heaters. A rustic style restaurant, with totally amazing food. The food and service were faultless!I’m so glad I popped in to try it.Would recommend booking if you are looking to eat at the weekend. It is officially my favourite Italian in St Albans!

The pizza base is very very chewy. Although the pizza maker is Italian and the ingredients are good, we wondered if he had adapted Neapolitan pizza to suit English tastes? (There's pizza with pineapple topping??!!)The place is scruffy and the glass in the windows and door are in need of a clean. We tried it but think there are better places to eat an Italian pizza in St Albans.

We decided to order takeaway from Nonno's on a Sunday night, hoping for good quality authentic Italian pizza. We placed our order (three pizzas, one garlic bread pizza) around 7.20pm and shortly after received an order confirmation email stating that our order would take 1 hour and 15 minutes (!). I understand it's a small pizzeria and only just starting out as a chain but an hour and 15 minutes is rather a ridiculously long time to wait. A little while later, one of our party politely called the restaurant to ask whether the wait time was correct, to which they were told rather sharply that yes it was and without my friend even having asked for any compensation, the server rudely said that they would not be offering any discounts for the long wait time. There really isn't any excuse for speaking rudely to customers like this - I would understand if we had called up and been rude about the situation, but we were very polite and were simply just enquiring as to whether the time was correct. Our order did finally arrive, about 1.5 hours after first ordering. The pizzas looked nice but the crust was barely edible as it was so dense and chewy - it looked as if the pizzas were rather overcooked. Unfortunately the same could be said for the garlic pizza bread. We were really quite disappointed given the time we waited for the pizzas, not to mention the price we'd paid - we could've definitely got something better elsewhere on reflection. Really I'd have liked some compensation but the way my friend was spoken to before was the reason I didn't call up afterwards and ask for this - I really felt as if they wouldn't have cared and would have spoken to me in the same manner as before.A real shame as some of the reviews of the restaurant here are good and I'm sure it has a lot of potential (and it would be lovely to support a small local chain) - however, their customer service and takeaway need to be drastically improved. Unfortunately I won't be ordering from them again or visiting the restaurant.

Cannot fault Nonno's at all! Absolutely delicious food in a great atmosphere, beautiful setting and the singing waiter was a fantastically fun inclusion. Not a place to go if you're in a rush, so ideal for proper Italian dining experience, eating slow and enjoying good company.

We decided to have a Pizza to takeaway and didn’t really know where to order from. We settled on here as it seemed to have good reviews and we were not disappointed. For speed, I decided to collect the pizza order and it was there when I arrived nice and hot. The staff were lovely and we had a good laugh before I paid and left. When we got home we had our pizzas (Americana and Veggie Calzone) and they were so tasty! 5/5 for the taste, pick up experience and staff. Can’t wait to order again.

We booked and were moved twice. The middle table was in the garden room at the back in full sight and sound of the toilets. The takeaway orders were strewn across the tables and we got the distinct feeling that “in restaurant” diners were an afterthought. The speed of service also backed this up. The garden room was clearly in the garden and suitably at garden temperature. The route to the toilets required you to walk along a raised step and I have no idea how a disabled diner would be able or safe to use these facilities. Oh, the food was lovely and very Italian. Sadly in St Albans, that is not enough. One visit and no more ..

We’ve always ordered online from Nonno’s and took a gamble on popping into the restaurant. Amazing rustic feel to the restaurant with the eccentric owner being an added bonus. If you ever ordered from here, I strongly recommend a visit!

The place is clearly very successful and on the day we visited there was an atmosphere of cheerful and buzzing near-chaos. In fairness they were short-staffed, the staff were cheerful under pressure, and seemed to have a vast number of takeaway orders. But we got served in fair time, the food (pizzas and pasta) was all very good. It is near where we live and a great place to have near. I would highly recommend.

We visited early in a Friday evening when the restaurant was packed. Unfortunately the staff were unable to cope with the diners and all the takeaway orders. It took over 50 minutes and several reminders to get a drink. We were never offered any additional drinks. The pizzas are fantastic and worth eating. I would not use for takeaway as we watched 4/5 delivero couriers waiting at a time for orders as well as members of the public - they had long waits for the orders.

Please do not use this restaurant for delivery , you will end up angry, hungry and out of pocket. Pizza was finally delivered one hour and 40 minutes late, cold over cooked and expensive. Tried to call the restaurant 39 times to complain, no answer. Unacceptable, would not recommend to anyone.

We’ve been here once before and ate in. In a couple of words it was romantic and rustic! The pizza was delicious and the wine good. Tonight we actually had a home delivery pizza, which again was delicious. The order taker on the phone tried to say that mimimum order value was £15 but the website said £12, so they may want to just double check on that. (He did honour the £12 though in fairness). I must also add that although only a little thing, but their pizza boxes are tastefully nonno’s branded instead of the cheap Italian pizza branded boxes you get from the usual pizza takeaways. Well done nonno’s, keep up the good work! We will certainly keep coming back!

Well, I am Italian and this small establishment is something out of where my parents come from in Southern Italy. If your looking an authenticity, ambience and a very warm welcome, I seriously recommend you visit and ask for Angelo (aka Singing waiter) and/or Francesco and say Marco (that's me) sent you! We've been there this evening for a meal and the welcome we were afforded was something like being part of a family, made to feel welcome. The food was excellent again, drinks equally so and reasonably priced. Recommend the Pizza's there, pasta's freshly cooked, none of the pre cooking stuff that are put on half warm hot plates etc etc. Staff so very friendly, helpful and accommodating, won't find any faults with them, my partner lives close by so we are at least 2 times a month for a meal and plan on going there again very soon.

Heard about this place and thought would give it a try. We were not that impressed. Firstly it was so cold in there- a cold eve outside and no heating on. We kept our coats on. We received a warm welcome but the waiter not so friendly. We had to call him over to order drinks. We asked for cheese on our garlic bread but that did not happen. Pizzas were ok but not yhe best we've tasted. Quite soggy to be honest. Disappointed.

Have been to Nonno's a few times and have always had a good experience. It is the best local restaurant to where I live a 5 minute walk away. Although I never book and probably can't get in half the time I turn up with the kids as it's so popular. So unless it's quite early or the sort of night where people won't leave the house, best to book. Went there with my kids and brother last night nice and early so we got a table. As always the welcome was friendly and there was Italian music playing. A waiter came over straight away to sort out drinks - had the Merlot which was tasty for a reasonable price. Everyone ordered pizza and it came fairly quickly, all good and well cooked with fresh and generous toppings. I had the Vivaldi for a change and it was absolutely loaded with ham, pepperoni, olives, artichokes.Place was packed within 15 minutes and you can see why. Lots of families doing what we were - enjoying a relaxed night out of good pizza and a glass of wine. Looking forward to my next meal there.

Good food, good service. Fabulous welcome, a real fun night. As you walk in the door you are treated like a regular client even on your first visit. I will ask for a table at the front next time we go as the back tables are a little chilly, but as soon as a front table was free we were moved so we were happy.

A huge THANK YOU.I forgot my purse yesterday in a mad rush picking up my friends Son up from school. Without any hesitation or asking for proof of ID, you trusted me as a customer to pay when I returned home over the phone. That’s invaluable. I’m so very grateful as I live the other side of St.Albans. Love your food when I’ve previously visited your restaurant on a couple of occasions. Only wish you’d deliver to Frogmore.A very kind gesture by you that went a very long way. I look forward to dining with you soon.High 5 to you all.

A perfect family lunch with our 4 year old. A good selection of pizzas (both children and adult friendly...) and other dishes and excellent service, friendly and yet not intrusive (example, bringing a glass of water unasked when my daughter had a tickly cough). We will be back and will be trying their take out. My daughter announced on leaving that when she grows up she wants to work in a pizza restaurant making pizzas for everyone so I guess that is a thumbs up from her too!

This is a cafe inside of a Sainsbury's (stevenage branch) , today they aren't selling toasties because they have "run out of cheese". I guess nobody can be bothered to walk over to the cheese aisle? Ridiculous to run out of ingriedients when they're inside a supermarket.
