Zizzi - St Albans in St Albans

Appalling service. Drinks were brought for half of our party and finished before the other half got one. Had to ask for water 3 times. 7 of us had finished the starter and the 8th person had not received theirs. When the waiter arrived, he had the wrong starter...twice. The mains were mediocre at best. They brought a wrong drink but shrugged and left it on the tabke. We were charged for it. We were offered one complimentary drink as an apology for the late starter, but were actually charged for it too. They mixed up the coffees... They made Fawlty Towers look sophisticated. Young, untrained staff,understaffed, total chaos. Absolutely shocking service. A very poor meal all round. If I could give a zero rating I would.

I ordered takeaway. Was walking my dogs and decided to get pizza takeaway. I was standing by the doors with my dogs looking at the staff, I saw them looking at me back,no one came to ask why I was there. 😂 When I stepped in , straight away a guy came in to say, that they don't let in with the dogs. No , hi, how can I help ? Or anything else... Just "sorry, we don't let with the dogs in". Then I asked if I can get takeaway and they said yes.. thanks god they allowed it. 🙊🙄😅 I ordered, they didn't ask if I have any allergies or anything... Haven't told how long it will take to get it ready... It's like if I have disturbed the staff from waiting people sitting indoors, with my takeaway order. Despite that, I was thinking it's okay.. but then I came to collect and when I was making a payment they had the audacity to ask for the tips?! I mean really, for what service?! Luckily the pizza was tasty, at least the chef does not discriminate the walk ins and takeaways... To be honest very disappointed, that the chain like this allows such behaviour. Btw.Pizza was very good 10/10. I ordered vegetarian option Primavera, £16.95 for pizza

Visited this place today with my family, ordered in 3 to 5 minutes. pizzas still doesnt arrived AFTER 30minutes. We needed to tell them to pack it away, and leave. They dont even wanted to pack the bigger pizza, becasue they dont have big enough box. They bring us a cutter, and told us to do it ourselves is we want it..... There is absolutely ZERO chance i visit this, or literally any other Zizzi restaurants in the future.

The classic pizza is really a piece of tasteless cardboard. My first time here since it refurbishment. All ingredients were not fresh and rather bland.the atmosphere feel more like a diner/takeaway than a pizza restaurant.

We ordered the sticky pig rustic pizza and it was heaven! Zizzi always make the best pizza hands down! I’m obsessed with their thin crust it’s soo good! However the casareccia pollo piccante that we ordered was so disappointing, not much flavour at all just bland we were so disappointed!That’s why the overall rating for the food 4/5 only!For dessert we had the zillionaire’s fudge cake which was perfectly made!So dense and chocolatey just how I like my chocolate cakes! Other than the food, the service was a bit slow seem like there was not much staff working.There are plenty of seatings both indoor and outside and the toilets is underground as well.All in all, I can’t wait to come back to Zizzi’s again!

Friendly service and good food. When it was time to pay, we were given the card reader at the same time being given instructions to add a tip which was obviously expected. Restaurant staff should be paid enough without needing to tout for tips. A service charge isn't added to supermarket bills to boost the wages of shelf stickers and backroom staff.

Great service shame about the potatoes!

Went for a birthday meal and on the hottest day of the year the team were lovely. A little slow service when taking orders but were accommodating to a dietary requirement. We were both so hungry that we didn’t stop to take a photo of the first two courses but the desert did top it off. The three scoops of ice cream serving was a little small but after the starter and main we weren’t complaining of leaving hungry.

On a recent trip to London,we went to meet a friend at St Albans,she took us to zizi there and the pizza there was delicious and the waitress yogitha was very sweet and hospitable ..Its a must visit place if you are around St.Albans

My wife and I had yet another lovely meal in Zizzi yesterday. In fact we often eat there on a Sunday afternoon! We know all the staff by name and they all so friendly! I eat at Zizzi’s a lot in St Albans and Yogitha knew my order!! Always a really nice dish and good staff who are polite and welcoming.

Nice food but the service was shockingly bad. The staff seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else.

Food was nice with reasonable quantity at a reasonable price, but maybe a bit overcooked, or more likely over-microwaved, if I was being picky. Red wine was nice, too. Service was quick!

Went to the St. Albans branch today for lunch and I was so disappointed. Sat down and had no waiter come to bring our menues for 10 minutes at least. When we had the menus at last, we had no one come to collect our order again for 10-15 minutes. I ordered a Zucca salad and my friend a chicken a prosciutto salad. Once the plates were brought up, had no cutlery so had to ask for it. My friends chicken salad came out without the chicken and when we told the waiter they took the salad back and added some unseasoned chicken breast full of water. 2 minutes later they came back to bring 4 slices of avocado on another plate as they forgot to add the avocado to the salad. My salad was unseasoned and honestly not great! I can safely say I will not go back to Zizzi, and would not recommend anyone to go either. For the management, maybe hire people that actually want to work there and know about customer service. It's a shame as I have been to other Zizzi branches were the food and service was great.

Zizzi Restaurant, I wanted to provide some feedback regarding my recent dining experience at your St Albans location. Unfortunately, I must say that I was quite disappointed with my visit, and I would rate it with only two stars. Firstly, I found the portion sizes to be extremely small considering the prices charged. For instance, the sea bass dish, which cost £18, only consisted of half a fish and a pile of potatoes. Similarly, the meatballs dish, priced at £18.50, consisted of just three meatballs with pasta. This lack of quantity for the price was quite disheartening. Moreover, the starter I ordered, priced at £8.50, was by far the worst I have ever had. The quality and taste were far below expectations, and it was not worth the price at all. Additionally, I had a disappointing experience with the service. Despite specifically requesting no ice in my drink, the staff brought it with ice anyway. Furthermore, when I went to use the restroom, there was no toilet paper available. It is unacceptable for such basic amenities to be overlooked. Overall, I left the restaurant feeling extremely dissatisfied and let down. I believe there are several areas that need improvement, including portion sizes, pricing, food quality, and service attentiveness. I hope that you take this feedback constructively and work towards enhancing the overall dining experience at your restaurant.

I recently visited this restaurant after the refurb done and it looks fab! Love the decor but I'm so glad the food was still up to its' usual high standard!! Just so many delicious choices. Enjoyed a couple of pizzas and garlic bread. So very grateful to the amazing Zizzi customer service team who went over and above to help me with my query ahead of my visit. Top notch!! Look forward to the next time we visit!

Excellent service by the staff and our group was very happy with the food.

Overall a pretty terrible experience. The restaurant was clearly understaffed which meant service was awful. Both pizzas were stone cold (and tasted like they had been made hours before) and we weren't offered any other drinks or asked if our food was okay, or asked if we wanted dessert. We didn't even get any cutlery to eat our dinner with. After waiting for ages for someone to come and take payment, we gave up and waited by the kitchen to force someone to take our payment. We told them the food and service was terrible and were advised to come mid week instead for it to be better. My advice: Don't go on a Saturday night, or perhaps, ever.

Pleasant service and delicious chicken and fiery piquito & sticky pig pizzas (though shame crackling on sticky pig). Lovely central St Alban's town centre location, and they've just renovated and reopened since Tuesday 16th July 2024 with lovely artwork!

Sandya was amazing, great waitress 10/10, came a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing time.

Came here for supper with some of my walking group after our muddy country walk: Great food and brilliant service but could the bill please include a service charge.

We were lucky to sit outside in the sunshine with our puppy. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and hot. We look forward to returning.

My only criticism is that they don’t include the service charge in the bill. Other than that my walking group and I had a great meal.

Average food that was overpriced. My risotto wasn't soft and creamy, as the rice wasn't fully cooked. Friends pizza was burnt. Service also left something to be desired. Far better Italians in the area with a better price and better service.

Great food but service is chaos. Don't sit outside unless you want to have to keep going in and out to order as the online system doesn't work. No one seems to know what's going in with regards to ordering.

The restaurant was pleasant and the staff were good and friendly. However my food was not hot in the centre and the response was that the manager would be told. I did not feel I could eat it in case its would make me unwell. I would have eaten it all had it been properly hearted through. The salad should have been retired on age grounds. My friend enjoyed her food as she had made a different choice. I would describe the food as mediocre.

Pros: lovely pizza Cons: I arrived without a reservation but the place was empty inside and out. I wanted to sit outside as it was a lovely evening. I was sat on a table outside and told to order I’d have to come back inside to place an order with a server. This meant I had to pick up all my items as I was dining alone and walk inside which was not far but annoying as I had a lot of work items with me which I couldn’t leave at my outside table. I ordered 1x pizza and 2 Diet Coke (they were the tiny bottles and I was thirsty!)and went and sat back outside. The pizza arrived, which was tasty. But nobody came to check on me or ask me if I wanted dessert after I had finished my plate. I did want dessert but I couldn’t be bothered to pick all my stuff up to head back in to ask so I decided to leave. This of course meant going back in where I waited for over ten minutes for a server to appear & print off a receipt so I could pay. I thought about walking off at one point. Rightly they did not include service charge as I would not have paid it. The total bill was ~ £25 It’s a shame the service is so non existent as it’s in a great spot but I would not rush back. If only they got a note pad and pen and took my order, cleared my table and asked me if I wanted dessert & coffee. (The usual stuff) I would go back and be prepared to tip, but no.

Good food, hovewer the stuff wasn't great. We have to wait 40 mins to order the food. No one bring us the water when we asked for. Plus no Toilet Tissue in the restroom.

This was my first time at Zizzi. Got a wagyu pizza and a cheesy garlic bread ball. Both were delicious! Service is a bit slow though. Toilets are ok and the toilets are in a basement. Also got some crisps when I sat down. Highly recommend!

Don't bother. Overpriced, bang average food, you wait for what feels like forever to be served. Kids also asked for crayons three times and never got them. Save your money.

Salad was overpriced considering how small it was. Balsamic glase was missing. £14 RIP OFF. would pay £6. More of a starter or side than a main.

The manager hi is an Indian guy actually i suggest to him improve their behaviour... His behave with food delivery driver It's just annoying.

Delicious food , good environment but better have more service staff to increase efficiency

I have been here a couple of times before. I wanted to eat here again because I like the food but as I arrived I was disappointed with the service. I waited by the entrance for a while and wasn’t noticed and then when I was I waited too long to be seated at a table. I’m autistic, the zizzi lights by the door were so bright and the noise and atmosphere in the restaurant was really overwhelming. I started to panic and had sensory overload so I had to leave the restaurant unfortunately.

Really impressive menu on offer, with a great array of pasta dishes, as well as pizza dishes cooked in a traditional pizza oven. Much higher standard than your usual chain restaurant. Would happily recommend.

Ordering gluten free food has to be done on the app, which was slow to respond so ordering took longer than necessary.

Never again, they call it pepperoni pizza, just don’t get fool by their pictures, spend £17.95 on uber eats to get looks like some little cheese on a slightly big expired slice of bread, just look at the picture

the pizza dough was nice, but the lack of sauce was bad and felt dry. the pasta was dry too, there was some sauce at the bottom, not much tho. the sauce pots were barely 1/3 full .i ordered on 50% off day,and prob wasnt worth that as portion size was poor. shame

The person who served me here to collect my order called TK has no manners to speak calling himself a manager, very disrespectful to customers and keep saying me get out of the place It’s really not nice and they pushed me as well

Visited spontaneously with friends. We were welcomed and fed promptly without hesitation. Special care taken to accommodate an allergy. Excellent customer service. Welcoming and efficient staff, very tasty food, will definitely return and happy to thoroughly recommend. Many thanks!

Do not go here, the service was appalling. Sat at our table for 20mins, was completely ignored and didn’t even order our drinks. servers were just ambling around, tried to get their attention but didn’t seem to work. Then we tried the app/website and it said table not recognised or checked in so we could even order online. We then walked straight out and they didn’t even care. It was a horrible atmosphere as well so definitely wasn’t worth staying. Went else where and had a far better experience.

Food ok but the service was poor and the mens toilets were dirty with wobbly tap and poor quality fixtures.
