The best restaurants in Harleston South Norfolk East of England

A very discreet place serving wonderful home cooked cakes (it does other food but we were there for the cake). I'm not sure if everything was vegan but I think so. I'm not a vegan btw. Our host (Raf - sorry if I've got that wrong) was very friendly & welcoming.

The staff were very friendly and the cream tea was excellent, so nice to see a business supporting adults with different needs giving them a real purpose and a chance to excel

As a party of four, we had a fabulous meal on a Tuesday evening with the added bonus of a 20% discount. We love to eat at J D Youngs knowing that whatever we choose from the menu will be of the best quality, beautifully presented and very tasty. The quality of service from Joyce, Beth and Daniel was amazing.

I went there on new years eve, this is my first time to go there, we got one table on corner side. The manager was not friendly. He always talk to his well known customers, he doesn't care the new customers. Waiter wasn't not clean, one middle aged waiter spread very bad smell from his mouth, food wasn't not good, food was cold, We order the lamb dish, lamb was chewy, taste was very bad, naan bread was raw, onion bajih was very oily taste wasn't not good as well, dish was dirty and I got something weird on the side of the dish such as grease, very disappointed, I never back to them.

The finest food, of the finest quality. Nit to be missed. Owners and staff are fantastic! Tonight we held our works Christmas meal which was outstanding. A must try! Quality is never comprised! A true 5 star! Staff superb, chef outstanding

Been going here for 15 years, consistently the best Chinese takeaway I know, never had a bad meal. Bit further out for me to drive but it's well worth it for the quality. Unbeatable 🙂

12 ladies enjoyed a wonderful meal, different meals and puddings. All cooked so well, served piping hot with lots of vegetable terrines. Cannot fault anything. Friendliness, short wait and very good choice on menu. Coffee, tea and mince pie all included in the price. Will certainly recommend this and would be nice to go again!

I’m visiting my sister in Harleston and this trip was the first time we tried this place. It was excellent, so had to order again tonight. It was absolutely delicious. Tonight we had B2 set meal, every dish was very tasty!

One of the very best fish and chip shops. Tasty good sized cod for £8 cooked to perfection. Tables to dine in as well. Well worth popping in if passing along the A143.

Was unable to get booked for valentines so went on 15th Feb. Restaurant was full so was given the choice of the bar. Where to start...... The bar area was heaving and full of young males who were enjoying themselves (being polite). The large tv was playing football. We asked whether we could be reseated elsewhere as our table was right beside the largest, loudest standing group of about a dozen young drinkers. We ended up right next to tv on really tall stools, not dining tables at all but mildy less noisy. We waited past our table time and no one came with menus. When I went back to the bar and asked whether anyone would be bringing menus, a staff member quipped that it was bar rules. How on earth did we know that???? We had bought drinks 20 mins before that, the bar man knew we were there to eat and never gave us menus!!!!! Food took 40 mins to arrive, my husband tried to order another drink and after being ignored at the bar for 10 mins gave up and sat down. Food was actually OK but no one came and asked if ok or whether we wanted drinks. CLEARLY BAR RULES.... ideally we would have stayed for dessert but the experience was so RUBBISH we could not wait to leave. Cost £60 for a drink and main each, not the cheapest given what we got as an experience. Will NEVER go back again. A review above made mention of this place needing a good manager and team of staff, I totally agree, BADLY MANAGED....

Having visited previous this visit was based on that, first visit wasn’t the best. We decided to return to give it another go. An order was placed for pancake stack and a breakfast. The coffee was served not over warm The pancakes were cold straight from the packet, a little golden syrup two minimum bacon rashers dry. £7.10 rip off . My large breakfast came along with one extra hash brown as I don’t eat eggs, despite the waitress saying extra tomato too. The ambience was like a busy junction lazy staff never dragging chairs and tables instead of lifting them, they weren’t heavy. I paid the bill the waitress asked for a tip pointing to the card machine. I resisted I can’t understand why. I won’t be returning to eat pap. There are many other bad reviews too not just us!

Filthy shop.Cobwebs, sticky tables, crockery looked underwashed.Would not recommend. Staff did not create a good impression either.

Had lunch here, staff were helpful and pleasant, the food was okay but not exceptional. The setting is quiet with a slight nod to the 1940's. Not sure about the green neon light in the alcove but it was an adequate lunch.
