I appreciate they have recently moved restaurants and need time to adjust but our experience was ridiculous. We arrived at 8:20. We had to ask for menus and to be served drinks. They did not take our order until half 9. The owners warned us that the dinner may take about 25 minutes to make ……. 1 hour 10 minutes later, still no food. We did not start eating until 20 to 11. The food was lovely but when it came to paying the bill, we were charged 3 times resulting in over £600 being taken. When we asked for the service charge to be removed, they refused which I don’t think is legal. If you do visit this restaurant, book for 6PM, you should be out by midnight

Took delivery; helped in ordering as needed; delivered in time although we live a little away. Food was good in quality and quantity. It is a good change of taste from usual restaurants and takeaways. Felt it could have been better without food colour and with less oil added.

We had a delicious Mary Poppins themed afternoon tea for 2. Sandwiches, light fluffy scones, delicious cakes. The attention to detail was brilliant even down to a spoonful of sugar (sherbet) and a chocolate spoon and a blue cordial for the medicine! Staff and the service were superb. We would definitely go again to sample the rest of the menu or another themed Event.

Donna and her team make the best poached eggs on toast in town. The coffee is delicious, with hot milk, and you’re offered a top-up just at the right time. Best of all is the atmosphere, with cherry music playing, the friendly chat and listening ear, and being looked after by lovely, genuine people. Donna is moving on to focus on her catering business ‘Newman’s’ (on Facebook) I wish her luck. She and her team made this the best cafe in town, and made a real difference to Maldon.
